Elyza's Diary
Day 159
March 20, 2010
Dear Diary, Where is the sun? I know we live in like the rain capital of the US, but it seems like its been a long time since the sun came out. At least I can wear my new rain boots I got at the store. They're so girly, and I love them!
Day 158
March 18, 2010
Dear Diary, Mom came to volunteer today, but we had to eat lunch inside the cafeteria since it was raining again. I had a sub. I think it's so cool that my mom comes to eat lunch with me and my friends. I know some kids don't like their moms to do that, but my mom is pretty cool.
Day 157
March 10, 2010
Dear Diary, I love these fruit slushies they have at school. I get one almost every day after lunch. My favorite one is the blueberry and raspberry one. Delicious! My mom doesn't even mind since they're made from fruit and they're healthy for you.
Day 156
March 4, 2010
Dear Diary, My mom cleaned my room and I'm not happy about it! It's not that I'm worried she read my diary or anything. I just like my stuff where I have it. It might look messy, but I know where everything is. I'm sure lots of kids would be happy to have their moms clean their room, but I'm not one of them.
Day 155
February 28, 2010
Dear Diary, Dad and I went on a bike ride on the trail. It was really cool because there's a bike tunnel on part of the trail. It's not very long, but it's still fun. Dad says there are bats inside there, but I didn't see anything. I wonder if he's just teasing me?
Day 154
February 24, 2010
Dear Diary, I've been so busy this week that I haven't even had time to play my drums. That makes me sad. Since I'm all done with my homework I'm going to go play them after dinner. I'll probably play until it's time to take my shower. My arms might be a little tired, but I so love it!
Day 153
February 16, 2010
Dear Diary, Why do parents always have to make you do something you don't like before you can do something fun? Like, if I ask to watch tv, they tell me to clean my room first. If I want to play with my friends, they tell me I can after I do my homework. It's really annoying-
Day 152
February 12, 2010
Dear Diary, Dad and I had to go buy a new heating lamp for Tuck since the other one broke. Turtles have to have a heat lamp, especially in the winter since it's cold. It's not like you can put a blanket in the tank to keep them warm! I love to watch Tuck sit in the light and put his head up like he's enjoying the sunshine.
Day 151
February 5, 2010
Dear Diary, So glad the day is over. Our consequence in school today was an enormous work packet. Miss Kucha didn't teach at all today, and we weren't allowed to talk while we did our packets. It was so boring and the day went by very slow. I hope we never have to do that again!
Day 150
February 4, 2010
Dear Diary, Our class has been so bad lately. I feel bad for our teacher Miss Kucha. Kids are just not listening and not doing their work. She said tomorrow we were going to have a consequence. It stinks that everyone has to get in trouble when it's only about half the class being bad.
Day 149
January 28, 2010
Dear Diary, My parents are having a SuperBowl party next weekend. I'm just happy that football is almost over. That's all my dad wants to do on the weekends. So I don't care what teams are playing, at least I'll have fun hanging out with my cousins at our party.
Day 148
January 18, 2010
Dear Diary, I lost one of my favorite earrings. They're little flowers that sparkle. I hope it's somewhere in my house, or I'll never find it. And hopefully I find it before Mom's vacuum does.
Day 147
January 14, 2010
Dear Diary, I heard that Hannah Montana may not be Hannah Montana anymore. I guess Miley is getting to old for it or something. Kind of sad, but I'm not as into her as I used to be I guess. I still like her music, but I listen to other groups now too.
Day 146
January 8, 2010
Dear Diary, I have no idea what that was we had for lunch today, but it was really gross. I think it was supposed to be pizza sticks, but I didn't see any cheese. Next time I see those on the menu, I'm getting a salad. I was so hungry by the time I got home!
Day 145
January 5, 2010
Dear Diary, My mom just got the cutest pair of glasses. I tried them on, and they're a little big on me, but I liked them. Mom says it's not good for your eyes to wear glasses if your eyes don't need them. Maybe that's why it made me feel a little dizzy when I took them off. I still think they're super cute though.
Day 144
December 31, 2009
Dear Diary, No fair! My parents are going out tonight on New Year's Eve, without me. I get to stay home with the babysitter, and I'm not even a baby. They're going out to dinner and then to a comedy club with some friends. Erica, the girl coming over, is really nice though, and we do have fun playing games and stuff. Better go feed Tuck-
Day 143
December 25, 2009
Dear Diary, I like green, even lime green, if it's pretty. My mom ordered these new curtains for my room, and they're not a pretty lime green. They're like neon green! I felt bad, because I know my mom was real excited about finally finding curtains tall enough for my big window, but they're just WAY too bright.
Day 142
December 21, 2009
Dear Diary, My friend Jasmine keeps asking me to borrow one of my necklaces. It's not that I mind sharing, but Jasmine always loses things I loan her. It's one of my favorite necklaces, I just got it! I think I just have to keep saying no. Sorry Jasmine!
Day 141
December 16, 2009
Dear Diary, Do you know what a hot water heater is? Well, now I do! Ours is broken and we have no hot water! You can't even take a shower, the water is so cold. The guy said he'd be out tomorrow to fix it. My mom is warming up water on the stove so I can wash my body without freezing to death! I can't believe she thought of that-
Day 140
December 12, 2009
Dear Diary, Ha! My mom just showed me a book she's reading right now, and there is a character named Eliza, spelled with an 'i'. That figures. That just means my way of spelling it is more unique, kind of like me!
Day 139
December 3, 2009
Dear Diary, E-L-Y-Z-A....that's how you spell my name. Everyone always wants to spell it with an 'i' instead of a 'y'. So now when people ask me my name, like when they're writing it down, I just spell it before I even say what my name is. It's just easier.
Day 138
November 27, 2009
Dear Diary, I love my dad! He helped me find this really cool website where you can make up your own drum riff and it will play it for you over the computer so you can hear what it sounds like. You get to set the number of bars, the beats per bar, and what kind of drum you want to hear play it. How cool is that?
Day 137
November 23, 2009
Dear Diary, You know how somtimes you're just getting into something, and then your mom or dad calls you to do something? I hate it when that happens. I was right in the middle of my drum practice, and was working really hard to learn a new riff, and I totally lost it when my mom called me to come upstairs. So frustrating-
Day 136
November 21, 2009
Dear Diary, We only have 2 days of school next week, and then we're off for all the rest for Thanksgiving! Why didn't they just so no school for the whole week? 2 days?!?! I can't wait for all the stuffing and pumpkin pie-
Day 135
November 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Why do people spread rumors about other people that aren't true? Some kids in my class are telling everyone in our school that I started a fight with some girl in my class. It's totally not true! I don't even talk to this girl in our class. Ugggh! Now everybody thinks I'm some kind of bully or something. Kids can be so mean sometimes!
Day 134
November 7, 2009
Dear Diary, There's this new vampire movie coming out soon, and I really want to see it. The only problem is that my parents don't want me to see it. I don't see what the big deal is. Yes it is PG-13, and no, I'm not 13, but you're allowed to see it if a parent is with you. That's not going to happen though.
Day 133
November 3, 2009
Dear Diary, It feels like it's been raining all the time lately. You would think I'd be used to it since I've always lived here, but sometimes it's still annoying. It is kind of cool when it snows though, not that it snows a lot here, but sometimes.
Day 132
October 29, 2009
Dear Diary, All week long I've promised my parents I would clean my room. It really is a mess, and no I still haven't cleaned it. It's not like I didn't do it on purpose, I just didn't really think about it. Well, now my mom says no more tv, no more drumset, and no more playing outside until it's clean. I guess that means I pretty much can't do anything until it's clean(sigh).
Day 131
October 23, 2009
Dear Diary, I saw these new drumsticks that light up when you play them. How awesome! I know I just got new sticks not that long ago, but maybe I can save up for them. I have no idea how much they cost, we'll see. They would definitely have to be purple or pink though.
Day 130
October 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Now that it's too cold for my favorite silver sandals I can wear my new favorite boots. They're brown with fur on the top, and I love them! The suede is so soft! And they look super cute with my jeans. Now my mom wants to find a pair in her size-
Day 129
October 13, 2009
Dear Diary, No fair! We rented a movie to watch tonight, but after it started and my parents heard some of the language they shut it off and said no way. I didn't think it was that bad. It's not like I haven't heard it at school before, but no more movie tonight. They said we can rent something else tomorrow night. Well, that's great, but what do I do for tonight now?
Day 128
October 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I hate when you sit in a funky position for too long and your leg falls asleep. That happened to me in class. We were sitting on the floor in our groups working out our math problems, and when I stood up I realized my leg was totally asleep. I was stumbling to get back to my seat, and it hurt so bad! At least it only lasts for a few minutes.
Day 127
October 5, 2009
Dear Diary, You should hear my mom jamming on her saxaphone! She's been trying to relearn it for only a few weeks now, and she's getting pretty good. I hope she'll teach me how to play it eventually. It would be awesome to learn to play as many different instruments as I can. If I want to be a musician someday, that might help.
Day126
September 30, 2009
Dear Diary, I really like this time of year, the falling leaves, pumpkins, all of it...except for one thing. I miss my summer dresses! It's the end of September, and I'm already wearing jeans and my hoodies every day. That happens when you live in the Pacific northwest. Our summer is over so fast-
Day 125
September 25, 2009
Dear Diary, We're doing a unit in school on nutrition. Mrs. Kucha is making us keep a log all next week about all the different foods we eat. Then we're going to learn all about what healthy foods we should eat more of, and what foods we should maybe eat less of. I think I eat pretty healthy already, maybe a few too many Oreos, but pretty good other than that.
Day 124
September 20, 2009
Dear Diary, Friday night was a blast! I went with my parents to the highschool varsity football game. The football was okay, but I really wanted to see the marching band. Their halftime show was really cool, and the drumline had such an awesome sound! I have no idea who won the game, I'm sure my dad knows, but the band was great-
Day 123
September 15, 2009
Dear Diary, After school I cleaned and polished my drum set. I didn't realize how much work it would be. Usually my dad does it with me, but he thinks I'm getting old enough to do it myself. I really missed his help!
Day 122
September 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Miss Kucha is the nicest teacher! I really like her so far, even though she already gave us homework this week. She lets us have recess right after lunch. I eat as fast as I can so I have plenty of time to play outside. Riley is in my class too-
Day 121
September 5, 2009
Dear Diary, School starts in 3 days! I've already picked out the clothes I want to wear on the first day, and I've changed my mind about a million times. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time! I get to go into school early the first day since my mom is helping out with the car line. I think I'm going to go play my drums until dinner, see ya later-
Day 120
August 30, 2009
Dear Diary, One more week and I'll be in school. It seems like we start really late this year. That gives Mom and I time to work in our garden and pick some of the vegetables that are ready. She and my dad can have the beets, yuck! But I love the tomatos-
Day 119
August 28, 2009
Dear Diary, It rained all morning, so Jasmine and I were riding our bikes through all the big puddles. It was fun, but we got soaked! I think my mom was a little upset that my clothes were all muddy too. Sorry Mom! I hope the mud will come out, it's one of my favorite Hannah Montana shirts-
Day 118
August 20, 2009
Dear Diary, I missed the deadline for the talent show. I can't understand how I didn't know about it. I did it last year and played the drums, of course. I was thinking I would try again this year, but I missed the deadline. It was last week, and now the show is tomorrow night. I hope we can still go and watch, it's pretty fun-
Day 117
August 16, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom! Yesterday she brought home a saxaphone. Yes, a saxaphone! That's what she used to play in marching band when she was a kid. She said she misses playing it, and wants to start again. Maybe we can start a band or something? We have the drums and sax so far-
Day 116
August 7, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom let me paint her toenails, and then she did mine. I picked purple and my mom picked pink. I think I did pretty good considering it was my first time. Then we put these cute little flower stickers on the big toenails. How pretty!
Day 115
August 2, 2009
Dear Diary, I never knew there was a turtle on tv named Tuck! Maybe that's where I got the name from and just didn't realize it. I saw the show on tv the other day, but I have to say that my Tuck is much cuter.
Day 114
July 31, 2009
Dear Diary, We don't even start school until after Labor Day, but I'm already getting excited, now that I know I have Mrs. Kucha. Some of the other teachers are really hard, and I was worried about who I would get. Mrs. Kucha isn't the hardest, but she's not the easiest either. She's just a really nice teacher.
Day 113
July 27, 2009
Dear Diary, Riley called while I was outside riding my bike. I haven't talked to her since the end of school. Maybe she wants to know who my teacher is for next year. We just found out a couple days ago. I'm going to have Mrs. Kucha. She's awesome, way better than Mr. Manzo!
Day 112
July 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I thought we were going to do something fun this weekend, but my mom had a PTA conference that lasted the whole weekend. So it was just Dad, Tuck, and me. I love my dad and all, but I think he doesn't know how to make plans without Mom around. She's the one who organizes everything. Finally, today I convinced my dad to help me work in our garden.
Day 111
July 15, 2009
Dear Diary, We found them! Those adorable silver sandals I've been looking for. My other ones are getting way too small, and now I have a new pair. I wish my feet would stop growing so fast so I can keep them longer. I don't think I'll ever get tired of these sandals.
Day 110
July 12, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and I went over to the highschool to watch the marching band do one of their summer band camp practices. I only like to watch the drumline of course. They're really good too. I wish there was marching band for elementary and middle school!
Day 109
July 5, 2009
Dear Diary, We went to a picnic for the 4th of July with a bunch of my parents' friends. We played horseshoes and ate watermelon. It was okay I guess. I wish some of my friends had been there too. I didn't hardly know any of the kids there. At least they were nice, right?
Day 108
June 29, 2009
Dear Diary, We went to the library this morning so I could get some new books to practice reading over the summer. I like to read, but it's not my favorite thing to do. Mom says I have to keep practicing during the summer so I can keep getting better at it. She found this website where it tells you the reading level for all kinds of books, that way I don't get books that are too hard or too easy. I think I'll go read one now-
Day 107
June 24, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so sad that me feet are getting bigger. I've had these sparkly silver sandals for so long, and now they're getting too small for me. My mom said she'll see if she can find them in a bigger size since I love them so much. I do! They go with everything I wear!
Day 106
June 21, 2009
Dear Diary, Happy Father's Day Dad! Mom and I went shopping for dad yesterday and bought him some new shirts and ties for work. I told Mom that was boring stuff, so I made her pick up a new dvd and a big bag of pistachios too. He loves pistachios. Then we're going to make him a nice dinner tonight.
Day 105
June 15, 2009
Dear Diary, So far, so good. The rest of our vegetables and plants are still there, and we don't see any more holes dug around the garden. It'll still be awhile before everything grows big enough to eat, probably not until the end of summer. Well, I have to go clean out Tuck's aquarium, and then I think I'll let him crawl around outside for awhile.
Day 104
June 10, 2009
Dear Diary, Our garden is a mess! Mom and I have been working so hard to get all our vegetables growing, and this afternoon we noticed that there are whole plants missing, like they were dug right out of the ground. Mom thinks it must be rabbits or something. So, now we have to figure out a way to fence off the garden to keep them out. That better work-
Day 103
June 7, 2009
Dear Diary, I finished my timeline and it looks awesome! I added lots of pictures all around the timeline of things about me since it's a timeline about my life. There were pictures of Tuck, flowers, our garden, and other cool stuff. I'm hoping Mr. Manzo will like it since he's kind of picky.
Day 102
May 31, 2009
Dear Diary, My teacher just assigned us another project. School is out in 2 weeks, and now we get another big project? I have to do a timeline about my life. It has to tell 2 things that happened before we started this school year, 2 things during the year, and then predict 2 things that will happen next school year. Better get going on it-
Day 101
May 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Our phone has not stopped ringing today. First it was Mom's friend Lynnette, then Grandma, and so on. No calls for me though. I can't even play with Jasmine this weekend because her family went away for the weekend. And my new friend Riley lives too far for me to ride my bike there. I'm bored!
Day 100
May 21, 2009
Dear Diary, My parents are going to some concert tonight, so I'm home with the babysitter. I feel like I'm getting a little old for a sitter, but my parents said they'd be gone too long and too late. I wish I could have gone to the concert. I don't know what "rockabilly" music is, but I like music.
Day 99
May 14, 2009
Dear Diary, How gross! There have been these tiny fruit flies in the kitchen the last few days. We could not figure out where they were coming from! We cleaned out the pantry and everything, but there wasn't anything bad in there. Well, we finally found it tonight! It makes me itch just thinking about it, but when I opened the cabinet where I keep my lunchbox, there were tons of flies! Oops! I accidentally forgot to throw away the banana peel in my lunchbox, and it was really nasty. They better go away now-
Day 98
May 9, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom is really on my case today. First I had to empty the dishwasher. Then I had to take out the house garbage. Now she's telling me to clean my room. I don't think it looks messy at all. The middle of the room is clean. It's just my closet and under my bed that have a lot of stuff. When I grow up I'm not gonna make my kids clean their room!
Day 97
May 5, 2009
Dear Diary, We went seed shopping over the weekend. Pretty soon it'll be time to start planting our garden. This year I picked green beans, corn, and flowers. I need to read the directions to see when is the exact best time to plant them. And then I just have to water and take care of them, and wait.
Day 96
April 30, 2009
Dear Diary, It's raining, again. It seems like it has a lot lately. If it was summer I would go play in the rain, but it's still kind of cold out. So I'm just hanging out with Tuck. Actually, I'm hanging out, and Tuck is sleeping on his rock. He sure does sleep a lot-
Day 95
April 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and I had our girls day out today. We had a lot of fun! First we went and saw the movie, which I thought was really cute! We liked it, but my dad wouldn't have. Hannah Montana can really sing! After the movie we went and had lunch at this Mexican restaurant that has the best quesadillas.
Day 94
April 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Okay, so the new Hannah Montana movie is out, and I haven't even seen it yet. Mom said maybe next weekend. It'll be just us girls since there's no way my dad would want to go. I heard it's really good!
Day 93
April 16, 2009
Dear Diary, Our class is going on a fieldtrip to the aquarium! My favorite exhibit is always the coral reef tank. Sometimes you even get to see a diver in there feeding the fish. And, my mom is going to be one of the chaperones. That's pretty cool. I wonder if my teacher will let me pick who gets to ride in our car. The trip is in 2 weeks!
Day 92
April 11, 2009
Dear Diary, I should be flattered that a girl in my class likes my name I guess. Riley likes my name so much that she told me in school that she is naming her new pet guinea pig after me! A white and orange guinea pig names Elyza. I never even knew Riley liked my name. I think her name is pretty too.
Day 91
April 7, 2009
Dear Diary, It's just Dad and me for dinner tonight since my mom went out with Aunt Lynnette. I'm still trying to figure out why I call Aunt Lynnette my "aunt" when she's my mom's best friend, and we're not even related! That is kind of weird, don't you think?
Day 90
March 30, 2009
Dear Diary, Whew! I don't know what insurance is, but I'm so glad that my mom wasn't mad about me ruining her phone! She said she pays extra so that if anything happens to her phone we get a new one for free. Thank you insurance! But, Mom and Dad did talk to me about being more careful and responsible about the cell phone.
Day 89
March 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Help! My mom is going to frak when she finds out that I accidentally put her cell phone in the washing machine! She lets me take it sometimes when I go to my friend's house, or ride my bike around the block, in case I need to call her. Well, I forgot about it until just now, and it was too late, my jeans were already in the washing machine!
Day 88
March 20, 2009
Dear Diary, I really wanted to have some icecream after dinner tonight, but Dad said no because we don't have any. I said we could go to the store, but he said still said no. Mom wanted me to have a fruit cup instead. I love fruit, but it's not the same as when you want to have icecream!
Day 87
March 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I found the prettiest jewelry holder in the store yesterday. It's a ballerina princess, and her arms are like hooks for you to hang your bracelets and neckalces on. I fell in love with it right away. Mom said she thought it would look perfect on my dresser. I picked out the pink one of course! I love the sequins on her crinoline-
Day 86
March 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom came in early today for volunteering and brought me a sub sandwich from the shop down the street. Then we ate at one of the round tables in the quad. We couldn't eat outside, raining again. Seems like it's always raining lately. I think it's pretty cool that my mom comes to help in my class and eat lunch with me sometimes.
Day 85
March 4, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom has been trying to teach me how to iron. Boring! I'm not even sure why I need to learn how to iron since she irons everything for me. It's not as easy as you think, and definitely not fun.
Day 84
February 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I've been waiting forever for my mom to get off the phone. She said we'd go to the mall. She and her friend Lynnette always talk forever. I don't know what's so exciting talking about money, decorating and other stuff. I just wish she'd hurry up, I'm ready to go!
Day 83
February 24, 2009
Dear Diary, Don't tell my mom but right now Tuck is crawling around on my bedroom floor. She would freak I think. Usually I like to take him outside, but not in the winter. Too cold. It's not like he moves around so fast I'm going to lose him or anything. He's just chillin out-
Day 82
February 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm going over Jasmine's house after school tomorrow. Mom has some appointment to go to. I like going over Jasmine's house. Well, except for her little sister. She's nice and all, but she doesn't like to leave us alone. And then she copies everything we say and do. I'm not sure I want a little sister, ever.
Day 81
February 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Happy Valentine's! It doesn't really feel like today is the actual day since we celebrated it yesterday in school. I have to get ready to go shopping with my dad soon. He needs to go buy a new cell phone since his isn't working. I'm hoping he'll pick one of those new metallic looking ones. Not that I ever get to use it!
Day 80
February 7, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom is taking me to the store later so I can pick out Valentine's cards for my friends. I love the ones that are pink and girly looking. I can't believe that Valentine's Day is next Saturday! That means I have to have them done for school by Friday. And I think I'm going to see if I can get Jasmine a little thing of chocolate since she's my very best friend.
Day 79
February 4, 2009
Dear Diary, Our Superbowl party the other night was cool. Unfortunately, I had to go to bed before the game was even over, not that I cared much about the game. I just didn't want to miss the fun! It's not like our home team was playing or anything. Danica and I were practicing this new drawing thing I learned in art class. It's an easy way to draw an owl, and it looks really neat.
Day 78
January 31, 2009
Dear Diary, We're having a SuperBowl party tomorrow. That means today is cleaning day, and all that other stuff to get ready. Not fun. It's not going to be a big party, but my aunt, uncle, and cousins are coming. And a few other people too. I hear Mom vacuuming in the hallway, I better get started on my room-
Day 77
January 25, 2009
Dear Diary, I was playing my drums all morning. Mom always makes me wait until after she has breakfast and reads the paper since it's a little noisey. I've been trying to practice a little every day. There's this new cadence I've been trying to learn that we found. It's got a great beat!
Day 76
January 19, 2009
Dear Diary, Since we have no school today for Martin Luther King Day, our teacher gave us an assignment. We have to write about Martin Luther King, and tell why we think he is important. I know some things about him already, like he stood up for civil rights and was a minister. I'll have to get on the computer to see what other things I can learn about him before I start.
Day 75
January 14, 2009
Dear Diary, You know what I really miss? Wearing my silver sandals. Summer seems like so long ago, and I miss wearing them. I know it sounds silly. But wearing big heavy boots all the time outside isn't easy. Of course my boots are pink with fur at the top, but still.
Day 74
January 6, 2009
Dear Diary, Okay, I didn't find a bike with flowers on it, but I did get a new hot pink one! And Dad found me a new pink helmet with Hawaiian looking flowers on it. Sweet! I'm going to call Jasmine and see if she wants to go for a bike ride.
Day 73
January 3, 2009
Dear Diary, I guess I haven't ridden my bike in a while. I tried riding it today, and it feels too short. My knees feel like they're going to hit the handlebars. Dad says maybe we can go tomorrow to look for a new bike. I want a hot pink one, maybe with flowers on it too!
Day 72
December 28, 2008
Dear Diary, Aunt Kelli did not believe that my mom and I baked those chocolate cookies on our own. She said they looked way too perfect, and tasted awesome. She kept looking around for a box or package for them or something. I guess that means we did a good job!
Day 71
December 26, 2008
Dear Diary, Aunt Kelli and Uncle Bob are coming over tomorrow to watch the college football bowl games. OR as usual, the guys will be watching the games. Us kids could care less I think! Does football season EVER end? We made these really yummy chocolate crinkle cookies for tomorrow. Hopefully they won't all be gone by then-
Day 70
December 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Today is our first day of winter vacation, and my teacher just emailed me and everyone else in our class a homework assignment! When we left school the other day I thought we weren't getting any homework. That's pretty sneaky Mr. Manzo. It says it's "Assignment #1". That makes me think there are going to be other assignments over break. Guess I better get started-
Day 69
December 18, 2008
Dear Diary, My parents just can't understand why I don't want to eat spaghetti sauce on my pasta. I can't explain it. I just know that I'd rather have olive oil and parmessan cheese sprinkled on top. So then they gave me the whole "spagheti sauce is made from tomatos, and so is ketchup" line. Yeah, that didn't work.
Day 68
December 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Our class has been doing a "holidays around the world" theme this month. We're learning about German, Italian and Greek traditions this week. Did you know that Germany was the first place to decorate Christmas trees? They used apples, roses and colored paper. How neat! And in Greece, people say "many happy years" to greet each other. Tomorrow we're making pizzas for Italy!
Day 67
December 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Mr. Manzo, my teacher, always gives us so much homework! The other classes get their homework packet on the Friday before, and then it's not due until the next Friday. But in our class, we don't get it until Monday, and then we only have four days until it's due! That somehow doesn't seem fair. I barely had time to get it all finished this week. I guess the one good thing about that is not having homework on the weekends though!
Day 66
November 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom came to my school today for her weekly volunteering. She even came a little bit early so we could have lunch together. This time she surprised me. Instead of my usual peanut butter and jelly, she brought subs from that sandwich shop I love. Their salami is the best!
Day 65
November 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Uggh! This weather really stinks. Not only is it really cold outside, but it's raining too. People think that living in Washington, you get used to the cold, and used to the rain. Well, I've lived here my whole life so far, and I'm still not used to it. I often wonder what it would be like to live somewhere nice and warm, like Florida.
Day 64
November 11, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad and I were goofing around with my drumset after dinner tonight. He says he wants me to teach him to play the drums. But he was just make a lot of noise and being funny. He thought it would be so easy to just bang on the drums and make music. Dad has a lot to learn!
Day 63
November 9, 2008
Dear Diary, We went shopping this weekend because I needed some new boots. My last pair still look fine, but they're a little tight. We found these light pink ones with faux fur on the tops. How cute! They go with everything too!
Day 62
November 5, 2008
Dear Diary, I heard my mom singing in the shower tonight. It was kind of funny! I just hope I don't sound like that when I sing in the shower! We're both good at playing instruments, but apparently not singing. It's not like I was planning to try out for American Idol or anything. I wish they had a show like that for people who play instruments. That would be cool!
Day 61
November 2, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom came into my class to help with our Halloween party. We decorated cookies and played games. I didn't wear my costume to school because I was afraid it would get dirty. There were a couple other girls who were Hannah Montana too. Next year I'm going to try to pick something no one else will think of.
Day 60
October 29, 2008
Dear Diary, Fall just started and I'm already sick of the cold. We have our heat on and I feel like I'm always thirsty, and my hands are so dry. Spring and summer are the best. At least Halloween is in a couple more days, that makes the cold worth it, except that you have to wear a jacket over your costume to keep warm!
Day 59
October 28, 2008
Dear Diary, Last weekend we went to the county fall festival. They best part was that the highschool marching bands were there performing. Wow! Some of those drummers were really good! I'm not sure I'd ever want to play the base drum since it's so huge, but maybe the quads, they look the most fun. I really like the sound they make. But, all I can do for now is keep practicing.
Day 58
October 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Still haven't changed my mind about not having brothers or sisters. My friend Jasmine told me in school this morning that her little sister spilled paint all over Jasmine's comforter on her bed. I definitely don't miss that! Jasmine was a little annoyed about it, but at least her mom said she can get a new comforter if the paint won't come out.
Day 57
October 21, 2008
Dear Diary, We had to do a project in school about our families. Some of the other kids in my class were so surprised to hear that I don't have any brothers or sisters. I don't usually think about it because I kind of like being the only kid in my family. I don't have to worry about a brother or sister breaking my toys, or sneaking in my room to find my diary, or anything like that. I get Mom and Dad all to myself, and that's good for me!
Day 56
October 18, 2008
Dear Diary, At Manito Park last weekend they had a huge rose garden with all kinds of blooms. There were so many different colors. Mom had the pictures printed and we picked them up today. I love the rose garden pictures the best I think. I'm going to put on of them in a frame for my dresser.
Day 55
October 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Last weekend my family drove over to Spokane. It's really beautiful over there with the mountains and the river, but it was absolutely freezing! We stayed at a hotel downtown. It was neat because the hotel is like over 100 years old and they restored it to how it used to be in the pictures from the old days. We had fun hiking in Manito Park too.
Day 54
October 11, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom came in to volunteer today and she stayed a little later so she could eat lunch with me. She surprised me with sub sandwiches from my favorite deli down the street. There are definitely good things about having Mom come into school every week. Is everyone's mom this cool? Or just mine?
Day 53
October 10, 2008
Dear Diary, Spring has the prettiest colors with all the flowers, but fall is still amazing. The trees have started changing colors now and they are the prettiest shades of reds and purples. I love purple! It would be neat if the leaves stayed colorful all year. Uggh, Mom is yelling for me from the kitchen, I better go see what she wants-
Day 52
October 4, 2008
Dear Diary, We had squash for a vegetable with dinner tonight. I think it's neat that it came from the garden Mom and I grew, however, I learned that I hate squash. It tasted a little better when I put lots of butter on it, but still. Mom says next time she'll just mix the squash in with a casserole for dinner. Great, now I'll have to be searching through my food at dinner to see what's hiding in there.
Day 51
October 2, 2008
Dear Diary, My mom has started volunteering in my class at school. It's kind of cool, but kind of odd to see her there. She helps Mr. Manzo with stuff like grading papers and decorating bulletin boards. Mom doesn't come every day, just one day a week. And that's okay with me. I may not like it if she came every day.
Day 50
September 28, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, it's Sunday, and you know what that means...another football party with Uncle Bob and Aunt Kelli. Still don't care about the football, but I can't wait to see my cousins again. I can't wait for Danica to see my room! Well, I have to go shopping with Mom now for party food. Be back later-
Day 49
September 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Did I mention how much I love my room all decorated with flowers? I figure now that it's fall and there won't be flowers much longer outside, I might as well have them inside. I think even Tuck likes my flowers. Maybe I should put some behind his aquarium for scenery. That's an idea!
Day 48
September 24, 2008
Dear Diary, I decided to make my bedroom look like a garden. So the last few days I've been coloring and cutting out flowers to hang on the walls. I think it looks pretty neat. Dad just looked and asked if I used tape or glue on the walls. Mom said I could use tape. I don't think he was too happy about that. But my room looks like spring now!
Day 47
September 22, 2008
Dear Diary, A girl in my class asked me where my name comes from because it's a little different. I was named after my grandmother, whose name was Elizabeth. My parents didn't love the long name Elizabeth, but wanted to honor her name. Elyza is a shortened version of Elizabeth.
Day 46
September 17, 2008
Dear Diary, During my drum lesson today, I played what I could remember for my teacher of that new song I'm learning. She was impressed that I've been working so hard to learn something new on my own. I told her that Mom has been helping me some. I think I've almost got it down.
Day 45
September 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Jasmine spent the night last night. This morning there was a walk-a-thon for the community center. Mom drove us over early this morning so we could do it. It wasn't too bad, walking 5 miles, but that is pretty far. Now my legs are starting to feel a little sore. I think I'm just going to loaf around the rest of the day.
Day 44
September 10, 2008
Dear Diary, I've been practicing in the afternoons on my drumset. I'm trying to learn a new song. It's fun to play along with the songs I already know, but I like to learn new ones too. It has a really good beat, but it's a little tricky. I want to learn to play it for my teacher when I have my lesson next week.
Day 43
September 7, 2008
Dear Diary, I was so hot from being outside that I drank a big glass of iced tea full of ice. I think I drank it too fast though. Ever get a headache from drinking something too cold? Ouch! I was outside with Tuck. He pretty much stayed in the same spot, munching on grass. I was the one running around the yard.
Day 42
September 5, 2008
Dear Diary, The weekend already? Not sure what's going on tomorrow, but Sunday my Aunt Kelli, Uncle Bob and cousins are coming over. Anytime the Seattle Seahawks play, somebody has a football party with a cookout. This weekend is our turn. I don't care about watching the football, I just want to see my cousins.
Day 41
September 2, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm hoping that Mr. Manzo my new teacher really is as nice as he seemed today. I know a lot of kids don't like being in his class. Mom says I have to make the best of it though. Sometimes that's hard, but I'm going to try. The best part was being able to wear my silver sandals and not get any blisters! My mom is awesome.
Day 40
August 29, 2008
Dear Diary, We went and did the last of our back to school shopping today. Mom can't resist a big sale, especially on Labor Day weekend. The mall was crowded, but I didn't mind. We found these super cute bermuda shorts with coordinating shirts in all my favorite girly colors. My silver sandals that gave me blisters will match perfect. Mom bought this liquid bandage medicine that will hopefully keep me from getting more blisters when I wear my sandals. I hope it works, I love those shoes!
Day 39
August 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom brought me home this Hannah Montana lunchbox. It's really cute and pink, but I was hoping to buy my lunch at school this year. Mom says no way. I'm allowed to buy lunch on Fridays but that's it. Well, at least I have a new cool lunchbox to use.
Day 38
August 26, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so incredibly bored right now. I have nothing exciting to write about. I guess it's just one of those days. Mom said she has to go to the grocery store later. I might go with her just to get out of the house. Oh, that's definitely bored!
Day 37
August 21, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm a little worried about school starting. Today the registration packet came in the mail with the name of my teacher for this coming year. It's Mr. Manzo. I was really hoping for any teacher besides him. He has a reputation for being really strict. Supposedly last year there were two students caught passing a not in class, and Mr. Manzo taped the note on the front door of the classroom so everyone who walked by could read it. Mom says just make the best of it. I hope so.
Day 36
August 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad and I went to the pet store tonight and found some really cool new rocks for Tuck's aquarium. I'm always afraid he'll get bored in there with the same old stuff to crawl and swim around. I want him to be a happy turtle, so I try to find new things for his tank. Eventually I want to get a bigger tank, and maybe even have a small waterfall in it. Dad says "we'll see."
Day 35
August 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Jasmine came over and we watched the Hannah Montana marathon that was on tv. Of course we couldn't just sit and watch it quietly. We were jumping around singing and acting goofy. Maybe it was all the jellybeans we ate! What fun!
Day 34
August 10, 2008
Dear Diary, The football party was a lot of fun even though I don't like football. Mom and Dad get so serious about picking their teams. I played in the basement with my cousins and some other kids that were there. The basement is huge, so we played soccer down there. I think I ate too many football cupcakes though, my stomach was upset.
Day 33
August 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Tomorrow night we're going to my uncle's house for a draft party. My mom and dad are in some football league with a bunch of their friends and other people in our family. Every year we get together and have a party to kick off the draft. The kids end up playing in the basement while the adults have all their laptops set up for the draft. I'm not a football fan, but the party is fun. Aunt Kelli likes to make these cute little cupcakes that have footballs on them for the kids too.
Day 32
August 3, 2008
Dear Diary, Yeah! Daddy is all done putting my closet together. Mom and I went to the store and picked out these super cute canvas bags to store all my stuff in. The bags are pink with white polka dots. I think Daddy did a great job and it looks much better now. He also took the closet doors down and put a big rod across the top so Mom could hang a pink curtain across the opening.
Day 31
August 2, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad had this great idea to help organize my closet. So he's in there right now putting up all these shelves for all my stuff. I guess I'll just have to stay out of my room until he's all done. Now Mom wants all the closets done. I guess Dad will be busy for the next few weekends.
Day 30
July 28, 2008
Dear Diary, There's just one problem with my perfectly adorable new silver sandals...they're killing my feet! I have blisters on the backs of my ankles. And they're leaving red marks on my toes. I'm so disappointed. I wanted these shoes so bad, but I'm not sure how much longer I can stand to wear them. Maybe I'll just have to wear band-aids all the time.
Day 29
July 26, 2008
Dear Diary, I got them! We went to the mall today since I had enough money saved. My new silver sandals are even prettier than I thought they would be when I put them on my feet. I think I'm going to wear them every day! Thankfully Mom's feet are much bigger than mine or I'd be worried that she would snag them!
Day 28
July 23, 2008
Dear Diary, I've been saving up my allowance for these cute sandals I saw at the mall. After this week I should have enough. They are too cute! The straps are cutout flower shapes and they're all silver and sparkly. Mom said she wishes they had them in her size too.
Day 27
July 21, 2008
Dear Diary, Jasmine and I have been friends for a couple years now. She lives in my neighborhood. That's actually how we met. I was riding my bike around the neighborhood one day and there she was playing in front of her house with her brothers. And we've been friends ever since.
Day 26
July 17, 2008
Dear Diary, I found this really pretty print at the store today. Mom and I were shopping for school clothes but we decided to look around. Anyways, it's a painting of all these wildflowers in a meadow. Mom said I could get it if I really wanted to. I think it will look perfect in my room. It's all these different shades of pinks and purples.
Day 25
July 12, 2008
Dear Diary, Our garden is growing really well now that it's summer. I can't wait to see everything once it's in bloom. And I'm anxious to try some of the vegetables we planted. Mom says we planted enough to feed an army.
Day 24
July 8, 2008
Dear Diary, I had to laugh at Mom today. We were driving in the car, and she would not stop singing this song on the radio. She said it was from when she was in middle school. I wanted to tell her that the eighties called and they wanted their music back. But she looked so happy singing at the top of her lungs. I almost wish I'd known the words so I could sing along with her.
Day 23
July 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Tonight, Mom and I are going to some orchid society meeting. I'm not big on the meeting, except that they have so many beautiful orchids. All these amazing colors and types you've never seen before. That part I like. I bought an orchid at the meeting last year, but it died. This year I want to try again.
Day 22
July 5, 2008
Dear Diary, I feel kind of like a celebrity. There was a picture in the newspaper today showing the top three winners at the talent show. The reporter even said I was "a promising young talent". That's pretty cool. I hope they have another show next year.
Day 21
July 3, 2008
Dear Diary, Second place! That's not so bad is it? The big prize went to the girl with the baton twirling routine. She was pretty good. But at least I got second place. My prize was a new mp3 player, sweet! Mom and Dad were so proud of me. Dad even brought me flowers after the show.
Day 20
June 30, 2008
Dear Diary, I've been practicing the drums so much that my arms feel like wet noodles. Mom says I should just take it easy until the show Wednesday night. That's so hard to do though! But I think she's right. So now I'm hanging out with Tuck.
Day 19
June 29, 2008
Dear Diary, The talent show is only 3 days away! I've been practicing a lot more now that our family left. Mom says she thinks I'm ready for the show. They're going to have prizes this year. I heard the grand prize is a $200 gift card for the mall. Wow! How awesome would that be?
Day 18
June 26, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm kind of sad that our family reunion is over. All my relatives have gone back home. I wish they lived here all the time. Now it seems so quiet around here. I think Mom misses them too. My turtle Tuck is probably the only one glad the company is gone. All my little cousins kept poking at him and holding him!
Day 17
June 23, 2008
Dear Diary, We've been so busy with family. But I'm also trying to still practice for the talent show. It's coming up on July 2nd! Grandpa says hearing me play the drums reminds him of how my mom used to play. He's says it's just as loud as it was back then! I think he's only teasing.
Day 16
June 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Now that everyone is here, it feels like one big party. Not everybody is sleeping at our house since we don't have enough room. Some are staying with Grandpa too. But everybody comes over and we eat and play games. Today I think we might take them around the city. I wish my cousins lived here all the time!
Day 15
June 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Our family starts coming into town tomorrow. I can't wait to see all my cousins! We usually only see them once a year, so it's been a while. I'm the middle cousin. There are the twins who are in preschool, and the bigs kids who are my age and some a couple years older. It's fun how we all play together though. They're all coming from Texas and Louisiana.
Day 14
June 11, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom has been working hard to get our house ready for all the company coming. She's been trimming bushes in the yard, painting the fence, and other little projects. I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like our family hasn't seen our house before. She said someday I'll understand when I get older. Anyways, we have a bunch of family coming to visit. Kind of a family reunion thing.
Day 13
June 9, 2008
Dear Diary, When we were planting in our garden, I got stung by a wasp. I didn't even see it. I was reaching to pull out some grass and felt something sharp on the tip of my finger. Then I saw the wasp. Boy did that hurt! Mom put some paste she made out of baking soda and water on my finger. That seemed to help, but my finger still swelled up quite a bit. Next time I'll be looking before I reach my hand for anything in the garden.
Day 12
June 7, 2008
Dear Diary, It's time to start planting our vegetables in the garden. I'm not crazy about eating all of the vegetables. But it's fun to grow them. The only vegetable we grow that I like to eat is tomato. Mom and Dad love the green peppers. I've tried the peppers but just don't like them very much.
Day 11
June 4, 2008
Dear Diary, There's going to be a talent show at the community center in a few weeks. I think I might enter and play my drums. The only thing is that I'd have to use background music for the other instruments and singing. Mom says I can make it work, and she'll help me get ready. My mom knows that someday when I get to high school I want to join the marching band. I think I'm too small to carry the bass drum, but maybe I can play the quads or the snare drum. They're both smaller!
Day 10
May 30, 2008
Dear Diary, I love Harvest Lilies. When I came home from school today I saw them blooming in our front garden. They're such a dark purple color. We have tons of them in the garden. My mom and I love to grow flowers every year. Finally, things are blooming! We're thinking about even starting a vegetable garden now that it's getting so warm outside.
Day 9
May 28, 2008
Dear Diary, It's so nice outside this afternoon that I am out sitting under a big tree in our front yard. I brought Tuck outside too! He's just munching on some grass. Turtles are so funny to watch when they eat. When they chew, it looks like they're going in slow motion. When I laugh, Tuck just stops and looks at me, then goes right back to eating!
Day 8
May 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Having my grandma here has been so awesome! I only see her one or two times a year since she lives far away. We've been having fun doing girl stuff. Last night Grandma was putting curlers in her hair before bed, so I asked her to do mine too. This morning I woke up with all these big curls in my hair. It was fun.
Day 7
May 22, 2008
Dear Diary, My Grandma is coming to visit this weekend! She is flying here from California. I love her so much, even though she pinches my cheeks every time she comes. And she likes to call me her little Schnickel Fritzi. I guess that's a good thing. She loves to brush my hair while I tell her about school and my friends.
Day 6
May 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Good news! Tuck must be feeling better. I woke up in the middle of the night because I heard him moving around in his aquarium. He was chowing down on the dinner I had put in there for him. I guess he just wasn't hungry yesterday. I never have a day when I'm not hungry. My Dad says I eat them out of house and home, whatever that means.
Day 5
May 19, 2008
Dear Diary, I wonder if Tuck my turtle is getting a cold or something. He hasn't eaten all day. Usually he eats up all the food I give him. Mom says we'll see how he is tomorrow. If he's still not eating we may have to take him to the vet. Dad says maybe my practicing the drums is bothering him. I think he was just teasing.
Day 4
May 17, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I went to the craft store this morning. She let me get some pretty beads to make bracelets with. I love all the pinks and purples, especially the glitter beads. I think I'm going to start right now. Maybe I'll make matching bracelets for me and my mom.
Day 3
May 14, 2008
Dear Diary, I just got home from drum lessons. The first part is kind of boring. My teacher talks a lot. But then at the end of the lesson I get to pick what song I want to drum along to while she plays the keyboard. I picked a Hannah Montana song today.
Day 2
May 12, 2008
Dear Diary, Yesterday was Mother's Day. I made my mom a card with construction paper. Then I used tissue paper to make flowers to glue on it. I think she was very surprised. She said it was beautiful. I think my mom is beautiful too.
Day 1
May 11, 2008
Dear Diary, This is my first day writing in my very own diary. I picked a very pretty diary with pastel flowers all over it, and a pretty pen to match. My bedroom is my favorite place to be when i'm not playing my drums. My room has 2 pink walls and 2 purple walls. And there is a fairy garden painted around the whole room.
