Rayah Rose's Diary

Day 154

March 21, 2010

Dear Diary, We had sherbet after dinner. I've never had it before, but it was pretty good. I think it was raspberry flavor. Oh, and Sierra finally came over to hang out today. I was so happy to see her!

Day 153

March 15, 2010

Dear Diary, I haven't seen my sister Sierra in almost 2 weeks. I know she's been really busy with work, and then she had to go to some conference in Florida. I really miss her. I'm still not used to her not living with us, but we usually see her at least 2 times a week. Where are you Sierra?

Day 152

March 10, 2010

Dear Diary, I'm so ready for winter to go away and for it to get warmer outside. I want to go camping with Girl Scouts, and we usually go in the summer. I hope I get to do some of the summer day camps this year too with the Girl Scouts. I better check with my mom, she would know.

Day 151

March 7, 2010

Dear Diary, My mom is trying to teach me how to be a host. I have no idea why. She had a bunch of friends come over last night for her book club. I had to answer the door and invite everybody in. I know all Mom's friends, but it was kind of embarassing. I was in my snowman pajamas too!

Day 150

February 25, 2010

Dear Diary, I'm so sad. We were supposed to have a Girl Scout thing this coming Saturday, but it's cancelled because not enough people signed up. I really wanted to do the ceramics and clay one for our badge, but I guess other girls didn't. Mom said maybe it would be fun for just us to go do a pottery class one night. Maybe Caroline can go too-

Day 149

February 20, 2010

Dear Diary, I really like the cabin my parents have in North Carolina, but that doesn't mean I want to go there all the time. We were there for Thanksgiving, and now my parents want to go there for my spring break. I was kind of hoping to see my friends for spring break. I tried to explain it to my dad, but I'm not sure he gets it.

Day 148

February 18, 2010

Dear Diary, I've got this really funny song stuck in my head. I heard it on the radio, and I don't even really like the song because it makes no sense. Anyways, I heard it this morning on our way to school, and it's been stuck in my head ever since. I think I need to turn on a cd and put a new song in my head-

Day 147

February 12, 2010

Dear Diary, My sister is taking me shopping with her tonight. Sometimes it's fun to have girl time without my parents around. I love my parents, but Sierra is so much fun! She always lets me pick where we eat dinner. I'm thinking chicken wings tonight-

Day 146

February 8, 2010

Dear Diary, Oops! It was my job to remember to turn in the dvd I got from the library, and I sort of forgot. That was about a week ago, and now we have to pay, or should I say I have to pay. Bummer. My brain has been so tired from all the cookie selling we did, I'm kind of relieved it's done. Off to the library-

Day 145

January 29, 2010

Dear Diary, I had a math test today. It seems like we have one every Friday lately. I think I did pretty good, it's not one you could really study for or anything. I'll find out Monday how I did. I usually get pretty good grades, mostly A's and B's.

Day 144

January 25, 2010

Dear Diary, I miss my treehouse, but it's so cold now that you can't really stay in there for very long. I wish it had a heater inside. I guess I'll just have to wait until spring and then I can spend the night up there again. Maybe Caroline can come over for that-

Day 143

January 20, 2010

Dear Diary, I saw a woman at the store tonight that made me jump when she smiled. Her teeth were so white that they actually made my eyes hurt when I looked at them. I will never bleach my teeth or do any of that other stuff. It looks really weird, like they're fake or something.

Day 142

January 18, 2010

Dear Diary, I'm kind of relieved we're almost done with the cookie selling. I'm starting to dream about selling cookies when I should be sleeping and relaxing. It's crazy! Only one more week to go. I think I can make it-

Day 141

January 10, 2010

Dear Diary, I've already got orders for over 50 boxes of cookies! Who can say no to yummy Samoas or Thin Mints? Well, Sierra's coming over to hang out. I missed seeing her last time since I was at Caroline's house. I keep hoping she'll just move back home, but that's probably not going to happen.

Day 140

January 7, 2010

Dear Diary, Time to start selling cookies! I'm sending out an email to everyone we know to see if they want any cookies. All the money we make for our troop will help pay for our camping trip this summer. Last year I was one of the top sellers in our troop. My parents bought bunches, hopefully they will again.

Day 139

December 30, 2009

Dear Diary, My parents are having a New Year's Day party. I think my mom just wants people to come over to eat all the cookies she baked. It should be fun! Sierra is coming since she has the day off, and my parents said I could invite Caroline too. Now I just have to decide what to wear.

Day 138

December 26, 2009

Dear Diary, No more stores, please! I love shopping and all, but today? It's crazy out there! You have to walk forever in the parking lots because you have to park so far away. AND, people are in the stores practically fighting over wrapping paper and other stupid stuff. Is it really that important?

Day 137

December 21, 2009

Dear Diary, At Girl Scouts we made these really neat holiday scrapbooks tonight. I've never really done a scrapbook before, but it was kind of cool. I added glitter candycanes and reindeer to mine. I'm going to give it to my dad.

Day 136

December 17, 2009

Dear Diary, My parents and I went out to dinner tonight. It was one of those places where they cook the stir fry right in front of you. The guy made flaming volcanoes and other cool stuff. Then we had fried icecream. It was pretty good. Well, time for bed. No homework!

Day 135

December 14, 2009

Dear Diary, This is our last week of school before winter vacation. It seems like we just had Thanksgiving, but now we'll be off for another 2 weeks. Dad wants to go skiing again. I hope Sierra can go too.

Day 134

December 6, 2009

Dear Diary, You wanna know what our class project is? We have to make our own commercial for a product we want to sell. It might be a lot of work, but I think it will be fun. Now we just have to figure out what product to sell...

Day 133

November 29, 2009

Dear Diary, Thanksgiving was fun, but I'm happy school starts again tomorrow. I really like school, and our teacher said we were going to start some new prject when we got back. I like projects, especially when you can work with your friends. It's more fun!

Day 132

November 24, 2009

Dear Diary, Okay, now we have a problem. Some of us noticed that we really need to go through all the food we've collected. Some of the canned food is expired. I'm sure it wouldn't matter if it's only a month or so, but we found some cans that were expired like 2 years ago! Gross! We can't donate that to the shelter. Better get busy in the garage looking through everything. Caroline is coming to help too-

Day 131

November 18, 2009

Dear Diary, Since next week is Thanksgiving, our troop is really busy right now collecting food for the local shelter. So far it looks like we've collected a lot. Mom says we may have to get another garage to hold it all until next week! I think that's a good problem to have.

Day 130

November 9, 2009

Dear Diary, It was okay. That's the best I can say about having to stay the night at Cherie and Gabrielle's house. It could have been worse, but it would have been more fun at Caroline's house. Mom said Caroline's family was out of town all weekend though, so I couldn't go there. Time for school!

Day 129

November 7, 2009

Dear Diary, My parents are going to some music festival tonight, so I have to go spend the night at Cherie and Gabrielle's house. I guess my luck finally went away! I knew I'd have to play with her again sooner or later. Maybe she's not as bossy as she was the last time I saw her. I hope.

Day 128

November 2, 2009

Dear Diary, Halloween was the best! We did our trick or treating at the mall this year. All the stores give out candy. And then Caroline stayed the night at my house. We were playing outside and there was a big fire in the fire pit, and our neighbors came over. We stayed up really, really late, and I was tired yesterday, but it was so worth it!

Day 127

October 29, 2009

Dear Diary, I don't know if we picked a bad pumpkin, or we just carved it too early. Our pumpkin is getting all nasty and is starting to smell already, and Halloween isn't for another couple of days. Mom thinks we should go get another pumpkin. I really liked the way this one turned out, it says "Boo!" with a black cat on it. Oh well, we'll be going back to the pumpkin patch tonight I guess.

Day 126

October 25, 2009

Dear Diary, We're going to the pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkin. I hope we get to carve it tonight. I want to do something different than a regular jack-o-lantern...something cool!

Day 125

October 22, 2009

Dear Diary, My dad almost got a ticket when we were driving! I couldn't believe it. That's the first time I've ever seen him get pulled over. The police officer said Dad was speeding. I guess they changed the speed limit on that road or something. Anyways, the officer was nice and gave him a warning, but still, I can't wait to tell my mom when she gets home!

Day 124

October 15, 2009

Dear Diary, Mom and I were out shopping after school and ran into her friend Cherie at the store. And yes, her daughter Gabrielle was there too. You know, the one I really don't like to play with but sometimes have to play with. Mom hasn't asked me to in awhile, I'm hoping it will last. I hope us running into them today didn't remind her!

Day 123

October 9, 2009

Dear Diary, The leaves are so beautiful right now. Every year I collect all the different colors I can find, but they never seem to last. I put them in tissue paper in a book, but they still change color. They're just so pretty...pretty until my dad says it's time to start raking them all up!

Day 122

October 6, 2009

Dear Diary, I was at Caroline's house yesterday, and we were playing with her dog. Usually she puts her dog away because she knows I'm allergic to dogs, but I told her it was fine. Well, last night I started getting all red and itchy on my arms, legs and face. Yikes! I guess maybe that wasn't such a good idea to play with Caroline's dog. He's so cute though!

Day 121

September 26, 2009

Dear Diary, Ahhhhh, what a great night last night. I only lost one marshmallow in the fire when it slid off my stick! My dad has turned our fire pit area outside into something that looks like a campground. There's these big logs we sit on like chairs by the fire. There's even a covered patio out there with a grill and everything. We use the fire pit all the time in the fall.

Day 120

September 25, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm pooped! It was such a busy week this week with school, homework, our troop meeting. I'm hoping we can just chill out at home tonight. Dad was talking about using the fire pit tonight after the sun goes down. We usually make smores and just sit out there relaxing. Now that sounds good to me! I better go see if Dad wants help collecting some firewood.

Day 119

September 21, 2009

Dear Diary, The firefighters we were supposed to meet with this afternoon actually got called out to a fire right as we were getting there, so we have to try again next week. Too bad, I had all these good questions for them, and wanted to check out all the equipment on their trucks. Caroline couldn't come today because she's sick, so at least she'll get to come back with us next week.

Day 118

September 18, 2009

Dear Diary, Our troop has decided to work to earn the "science in action" badge. You have to complete at least 5 activities, which is a lot, but I think it'll be worth it. We're going to start with learning about emergency science. We're meeting with the firefighters next week. Cool!

Day 117

September 9, 2009

Dear Diary, You'll never guess what happened at school today! Our class was walking to the lunchroom, and all of a sudden I felt this sharp pain on my knee. I started yelling and looked down, and saw a wasp or bee or something. I've never been stung before! My teacher walked me up to the clinic so I could put some ice on it, and they called my mom to see if I was allergic. She said she didn't know since I'd never been stung before, but it looks like I'm not. It hurt really bad, but only swelled up a little bit, so I guess that's okay.

Day 116

September 7, 2009

Dear Diary, Our troop is having a picnic this afternoon. It's kind of a kick-off party to start the new year. A lot of the girls in our troop will be the same, but we're getting a few new ones too. Ms. Shannon asked my mom to be the assistant troop leader. Mom asked me what I thought about it. I told her it sounded cool. My mom is lots of fun and she used to be a Girl Scout too!

Day 115

August 30, 2009

Dear Diary, Kind of scarey. My dad when to the skin doctor today, and had to have a spot removed from his cheek. It looks like it hurt, but he says it's not so bad. Hopefully it's not anything to worry about. The doctor said she would send it to the lab.

Day 114

August 21, 2009

Dear Diary, I drove with my dad over to the recycling center with all our bins of stuff. I cannot believe how much newspaper, plastic, glass, and cardboard boxes we collect in one week! I'm so glad we started recycling now that our troop built the new recycling center, and it's much closer to my house.

Day 113

August 15, 2009

Dear Diary, I guess my parents bought that cabin we saw in North Carolina. They're already making plans for us to go down thee for the week of Thanksgiving. That might be fun, something different. As long as I get stuffing and pumpkin pie, I'm good for anything.

Day 112

August 7, 2009

Dear Diary, Sierra and I had so much fun! I loved the Harry Potter movie. The pizza was just okay. Sierra likes everything on top of her pizza, so I had to pick it off of mine, everything except the pepperoni. I swear I could still taste the pineapple-

Day 111

August 5, 2009

Dear Diary, My sister Sierra is taking the afternoon off from work so we can hang out. We're going to go see a movie and eat pizza. I kind of hope we go see the new Harry Potter movie. I heard it was really good, and I liked the other ones. Mom says I have to put my laundry away, so I've got to go-

Day 110

July 31, 2009

Dear Diary, I slept for like 13 hours last night. I had no idea I was so tired. Mom says maybe it's a growth spurt or something. I feel good now though. I'm going with Caroline to help her and her mom paint stars on the walls of the dance studio in town. Caroline takes dance there and they asked for help painting. Sounds like fun!

Day 109

July 24, 2009

Dear Diary, Home sweet home! We had a lot of fun on our trip, and my parents think they found some property to buy that has a little cabin. North Carolina is really pretty, I wouldn't mind going there to visit again. But for right now, it's good to be home in my own comfy bed with my own stuff.

Day 108

July 21, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm having a good time, but today I remembered that my old friend Allison is in Vermont visiting while we're gone. It makes me a little sad, but hopefully she'll come back again soon. Time to take a shower, we're going to have dinner at some brick oven pizza place, yum!

Day 107

July 19, 2009

Dear Diary, So far, North Carolina is pretty neat! We got here yesterday, and I did sleep in the car a lot, so that made it go faster. And my dad is keeping his promise that we would do fun stuff besides just driving around looking at property. We looked at a couple of cabins this morning, and then we went white water rafting. I've never been before, but that was awesome. The rapids were so big that it actually bounced you up off the raft! Oh yeah!

Day 106

July 13, 2009

Dear Diary, Our house is crazy right now! Everyone is packing and getting ready for our trip. We leave the day after tomorrow. When I asked my dad what time we were leaving, he said, "before the sun is up". Yikes, that sounds early! Hopefully I can just go back to sleep in the car.

Day 105

July 8, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm so sad. I just found out that my friend Allison is coming to visit while we're gone to North Carolina. That means I won't get to see her this time. I don't know if my parents would have picked a different week if they knew, but it's too late now.

Day 104

June 28, 2009

Dear Diary, Dad brought home Ben and Jerry's icecream tonight, my favorite! The best flavor is still the New York Super Fudge Chunk. Dad always gets peanut butter with chocolate, and I just think peanut butter and chocolate sounds gross. Ewwww!

Day 103

June 27, 2009

Dear Diary, Mom and Dad have decided we're going to North Carolina to visit in a couple of weeks. Hopefully we'll do more than just drive around looking at houses for sale. I know they want to find something, but that's kind of boring if you ask me. Sierra can't go with us because she has to work. I'll miss her, but at least I get the whole back seat to myself! I can spread out and sleep when I want to-

Day 102

June 22, 2009

Dear Diary, I saw Ms. Shannon at the store. She's our service club leader. In the summer we don't meet every week unless there's a project we need to work on. I'm not wishing for anything bad to happen, I just like to be busy.

Day 101

June 16, 2009

Dear Diary, Our teacher gave us this website to use during the summer. You log on and it has assigments for you to do each week to practice over the summer. It's okay, but not as much fun as some of the other cd games I already have. The assignments are so easy, I keep waiting for it to get harder. If you do all the assignments, then at the beginning of the next school year you get some kind of prize.

Day 100

June 9, 2009

Dear Diary, Dad and I found this new awesome hiking trail at the park the other day. There was a stream and a small waterfall we'd never seen before. I love collecting the rocks we find in streams. They're always so smooth and flat. If we can find our way back to that trail again we're going to take my mom next time.

Day 99

June 4, 2009

Dear Diary, We're going to my mom's friend Cherie's tomorrow. I have no excuses not to go, no meetings, no nothing, but I still don't want to go. If I have to play with Gabrielle I'd rather play at our house where there are toys I actually want to play with. It's hard because Gabrielle is so much younger than me, and her toys are for little kids.

Day 98

May 29, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm so excited for our big sleepover tomorrow. Mom said we could go shopping in the morning and find some beanbag chairs and maybe a couple other things for the treehouse. I'm going to pack a cooler with drinks and snacks too. The only thing missing is a bathroom up there!

Day 97

May 26, 2009

Dear Diary, Caroline and I have been spending a lot of time hanging out in my treehouse lately. In fact, next weekend Dad said we can sleep up there. It feels like forever since the last time I got to do that. I was thinking about putting a couple of beanbag chairs up there or soemthing. You know, make it more comfortable.

Day 96

May 21, 2009

Dear Diary, Our recycling center project has gone so well that now the city wants us to work on another one on the other side of town. That should keep us busy for awhile. We have to clear out the area of all the grass and bushes so they can pave it. I'm not looking forward to pulling weeds, but I am happy that the recycling has been so big!

Day 95

May 16, 2009

Dear Diary, I told you before that my parents were thinking of buying some property down in North Carolina? So now it loks like that's where we're going for vacation this summer so they can look at houses. Sounds kind of boring, but my dad promises that's not all we're going to do. Alright then. I wonder if Sierra is coming with us?

Day 94

May 9, 2009

Dear Diary, Sierra came over for dinner tonight, but it felt a little weird. I think because we knew it was like she was only visiting, and that later on she would go back to her new apartment. Mom made Sierra's favorite dinner, chicken skillet. Not my favorite, but that's the way it goes.

Day 93

May 5, 2009

Dear Diary, I got a letter in the mail today from my friend Allison that moved away to Massachusetts. I guess she had a class assignment to write a letter to someone in another state. I'm supposed to write her back and send a picture. We're supposed to tell a little about ourselves, and then some things about where we live. That's kind of neat! I have to think about what I should say.

Day 92

April 27, 2009

Dear Diary, Okay, Sierra had way more stuff than I thought she would. It's like she emptied out our entire house! I guess Mom and Dad gave her some of their old furniture too. And then we had to carry everything upstairs! She didn't tell me before that her apartment would be upstairs. At least it was good exercise, but my arms are still sore!

Day 91

April 24, 2009

Dear Diary, We're helping my big sister move all her stuff this weekend. It shouldn't take too long since she doesn't have that much stuff. Then we'll probably hang out and help her unpack. I already found someone in my club to cover my hours at the soup kitchen. I hate to miss, but I know it'd be hard for my parents to take me across town when we're helping Sierra move.

Day 90

April 18, 2009

Dear Diary, Sierra came home from work today and said she's ready to move into her own place. I kind of knew it was coming because she had mentioned it before. Nothing's wrong, she's just a grownup now I guess. At least the apartment she found isn't too far away. I can still see her all the time.

Day 89

April 16, 2009

Dear Diary, Dad finally downloaded our pictures from Utah onto the computer. Some of the pics turned out really good. Dad took some far away ones of me skiing down the mountain. I think my favorite one is with all of us around the fireplace. We had some guy walking by in the restaurant take it for us. I definitely want a copy of that one for my room-

Day 88

April 10, 2009

Dear Diary, This week is going by so fast! I can't believe that we fly back home tomorrow already. I hope we can come back though someday. It's really nice here. I'm so glad Sierra could take a vacation from work and come too. I would have missed her-

Day 87

April 6, 2009

Dear Diary, Utah is so beautiful! There is so much snow, and all the trees look so pretty as you ski down. I actually got kind of stuck when I was skiing through a soft spot at the bottom of the mountain! My dad was laughing when he helped me get out. We're having a really good time here, and there's supposed to be more snow tomorrow!

Day 86

March 31, 2009

Dear Diary, Can you believe that spring break is next week already? I am so excited to have a break from all the homework! Dad says we're going to Utah for a vacation. I have no idea what's in Utah, but it should be fun. But, until then, I have a lot of work to do at the shelter. Our canned food drive has been going really well so far too.

Day 85

March 28, 2009

Dear Diary, Ever since we had the time change a couple weeks ago I've had a hard time falling asleep at night. I just don't feel tired. So, I started bringing a flashlight to bed and reading a book under the covers. Just for a little while, until I get sleepy. That reminds me, I need to go to the library and get a couple more books!

Day 84

March 20, 2009

Dear Diary, I can't wait till it gets a littler warmer so Dad and I can go exploring on some trails again. Maybe my sister Sierra will come with us too. I'm so glad she moved back home after school, but I heard her talking about moving into an apartment the other day. I know she wants her own place, but I'd miss her not being right here.

Day 83

March 16, 2009

Dear Diary, I am exhausted after this weekend. I was at the shelter helping to serve meals for Saturday and Sunday. Now I don't want to have to stand ever again! Whew....but it was worth it. I think we helped a lot of people. Next weekend I'm only signed up for one day.

Day 82

March 8, 2009

Dear Diary, Tomorrow is a busy day, again. I have phone calls to make and things to get organized for our service club meeting tomorrow night. We are going to go ahead and start working at a local shelter that needs help in the kitchen and a few other things. At the same time we're also setting up a canned food drive. Got to go get it all done-

Day 81

March 6, 2009

Dear Diary, I have been so super busy this week that I didn't even get to tell you about Gabrielle spending the night last weekend. It was okay. Not good, not bad, just okay. I tried really hard to be nice to her and when she started getting bossy and rude I told her to quit it, or I wasn't going to play with her. That seemed to work. I'm not saying we're going to be friends or anything, but it would be nice if we can at least get along since our moms are best friends.

Day 80

February 27, 2009

Dear Diary, I must have spoken too soon about not having to see Gabrielle. Mom just informed me that she's on her way over, AND she's spending the night! How could she do this to me? Mom said her friend Cherie has to go out of town for the night, and didn't have anyone else to ask. I'll deal with it, but I'm still not happy.

Day 79

February 23, 2009

Dear Diary, Mom's friend Cherie was just here, but lucky for me Gabrielle wasn't with her. I know that sounds terrible, but that girl still drives me nuts. I think my mom is starting to understand that. She hasn't been trying to push get togethers as often with all of us together. I think she and Cherie have been seeing each other on their own. Thank you Mom!

Day 78

February 21, 2009

Dear Diary, It has been so busy this week between school and getting going on our next project for service club. We're still not positive, but it looks like we might spend some time helping with the food pantry and soup kitchen. They've been short of volunteers and need some new ways to collect food. So, now we're working on some ideas of how our club can help.

Day 77

February 16, 2009

Dear Diary, We went skiing again yesterday. There has been so much snow this season. And yes, I remembered to bring my sunblock! It was fun, but we were exhausted last night. We just say around in the family room eating pizza for dinner in front of the fireplace. Now I have to get ready for our service club meeting that's tomorrow. See ya-

Day 76

February 8, 2009

Dear Diary, My parents are talking about buying some land in North Carolina. Not that we're going to move there, but just to have a place to visit in the summer and maybe for other vacations. As long as we're not moving there, I'm okay with that. I love it here in Vermont, and can't imagine living anywhere else. But spending vacations in a log cabin somewhere else might be fun.

Day 75

February 5, 2009

Dear Diary, That movie that Caroline and I saw the other night was so funny. And all the dogs were way too cute! It made me want to get a dog. We've never had one, but that's because I'm allergic to them. Dog hair makes my skin get all red with a rash. Maybe someday I won't be allergic, I hope!

Day 74

January 30, 2009

Dear Diary, I just saw another preview for that movie we're going to see tomorrow night. It just looks adorable. I hope it doesn't make me cry! I know I'm not going to Caroline's until tomorrow, but I already packed my bag and everything. Yes, I am excited!

Day 73

January 28, 2009

Dear Diary, Caroline just called on the phone to ask if I can spend the night at her hosue this Saturday. We had a lot of fun last weekend when she stayed the night here. Mom said "sure, why not?" Her parents want to take us to the movies to see Hotel For Dogs. It's supposed to be really cute. Too bad today is only Wednesday!

Day 72

January 24, 2009

Dear Diary, Caroline is coming over to spend the night tonight. I've never had her spend the night before, but we've become really good friends. It was actually my mom's idea. And I think it's a good one! Still too cold for sleeping in the treehouse, but that's okay. We'll have fun in the house I'm sure.

Day 71

January 16, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm thinking about not buying my lunch at school anymore. Lately it just seems like everything we have is gross. I'm sorry, but it's true. Today was grilled cheese, and it was really nasty. And I know grilled cheese, it's one of my favorites. Mom said it's up to me if I want to start bringing my lunch to school. At least then I'll know what I'm having everyday.

Day 70

January 11, 2009

Dear Diary, Our service club has kind of taken a vacation the last couple of weeks. I think we were all a little burned out from all the fundraising and other projects we did during the fall. Don't get me wrong, I love doing it, but my head was starting to spin from doing so much. We're planning to meet next week and come up with a plan for the next couple of months. We'll see-

Day 69

January 5, 2009

Dear Diary, Allison and I had such an awesome time together! One night we stayed up really late eating smores that we roasted in our fireplace. She told me all about Massachusetts, and I told her what was going on here with all our friends and school. I'm so glad her family got to come visit for a few days. We're hoping they come back again over the summer.

Day 68

December 31, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm so excited! Remember my best friend Allison who moved to Massachusetts? Well, Allison and her family are coming back to visit for a few days. They should be here sometime tomorrow! It feels like forever since she was here. I wonder if she looks different?

Day 67

December 28, 2008

Dear Diary, We finally made it to go skiing in Sugarbush! We had such a great time too. We usually go skiing a few times each year. The funny thing though is you can always tell the newbies who aren't used to skiing. They're the ones who are so sunburned at the end of the day. I know it sounds strange because it's winter, but the sunlight reflects off the snow, and so you have to wear sunlotion. I learned my lesson when I was little-

Day 66

December 21, 2008

Dear Diary, As much as I hate to admit it, it's a good thing we didn't go to Sugarbush this weekend. I still feel awful. I hate even listening to the radio, my head hurts so bad. At least my mom is making me Italian soup. That always makes me feel better. I'm going to go see if it's ready yet.

Day 65

December 18, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm so bummed! We were supposed to go skiing this weekend at Sugarbush, and Sierra and I both have the flu. At least I think it's the flu. I'm all congested and can't eat because I can't breathe, and my whole body hurts. That stinks so bad, we were really looking forward to it. But Dad says no big deal, we'll just go next weekend. I hope we're all better by then.

Day 64

December 16, 2008

Dear Diary, We're finally going to get our Christmas tree today. We always go to the same tree farm and get to pick out the one we want before they cut it down. Dad always has to pick the biggest tree he can find! I think it's kind of a neat tradition. Of course, it's cold and snowing, and we have to shake off all the snow from the tree before we can bring it inside the house. Better go get ready to go-

Day 63

December 11, 2008

Dear Diary, We have to go to my dad's holiday work party tomorrow night. I am so not about wearing some dress to a grown-up party. Well, technically it's not just a grown-up party since everyone's families will be there, but you know what I mean. We do this every year, and every year Dad says this is the last year we have to go. Sierra's lucky. Since she has to work, she doesn't have to go!

Day 62

November 27, 2008

Dear Diary, I am thankful for my family. I am thankful that my sister Sierra moved back home. And I am thankful for my friends like Caroline and Allison. And I am really thankful that we collected 200 turkeys for our food drive! Happy Thanksgiving!

Day 61

November 23, 2008

Dear Diary, Our canned food drive is crazy busy right now with Thanksgiving only a few more days away. I think I'm getting bigger arm muscles from lifting all the boxes people have been dropping off! It makes me so happy to know that we're helping people in our area who may not be able to have a Thanksgiving dinner otherwise. Well, off to meet Caroline so we can do more sorting of food being donated.

Day 60

November 13, 2008

Dear Diary, I brought the Sgt's letter with me to my service club meeting last night. They all agreed that it was very cool that someone wrote us back. Now with Thanksgiving right around the corner, we're busy planning our canned food drive to feed needy families. I think we have it pretty much worked out. We're going to put big boxes in the schools and grocery stores, anywhere we can to start collecting. The real work isn't until we have to pick up all the collected food and deliver it to the shelter.

Day 59

November 11, 2008

Dear Diary, Remember those freedom cards my service club mailed do the troops in Iraq? Well, today I got a letter in the mail from one of them. It's actually from one of the sgts. He wanted to say thank you to me and all my other friends who helped send so many cards to his troops. I thought that was very neat that he wrote us back, and now we know for sure that our cards made it to them!

Day 58

November 7, 2008

Dear Diary, Tomorrow Mom's friend Cherie and her daughter Gabrielle are coming over. That's the girl that drives me crazy because she's so bossy and just not nice a lot of times. It's not like I wanted to invite Gabrielle over to play with. I just get stuck playing with her while Mom and Cherie talk and drink their coffee. Hopefully the day will go fast!

Day 57

November 2, 2008

Dear Diary, I loved the haunted forest show we went to! And yes, even Sierra came, which made me happy. It was spooky, but I don't think I'd say it was scarey. Maybe for little kids it would be, but not me. I thought I'd miss the trick or treating, but I really didn't. This was way more cool!

Day 56

October 29, 2008

Dear Diary, For Halloween this year we're going to some haunted forest. I guess the forest isn't really haunted, but there is supposed to be some really cool show with special effects and music. I think it will be fun to do something different for Halloween. I hope Sierra will come too.

Day 55

October 27, 2008

Dear diary, Mom and Dad said no about sleeping in the treehouse. They said no until next summer because it's too cold, and my treehouse doesn't have a heater like our cabins did when we went camping. I wish I had thought of my treehouse idea during the summer! Next summer is so far away. Well, at least I tried.

Day 54

October 23, 2008

Dear Diary, I had so much fun camping, that I came up with an idea! I'm going to ask Mom and Dad if I can sleep in my treehouse this weekend. I don't know why I never thought of it before, but it seems like a good idea. It's right by the house, so it's not like I'm that far away. It would kind of be like camping. Maybe Caroline could even come over too!

Day 53

October 20, 2008

Dear Diary, I got an email today from Allison! She said she likes her new house and her school is okay, but that she really misses Vermont. Allison said it's hard to make new friends when the school year started so long ago, and the other kids already know each other. Maybe she should join a club or something to meet friends. That's why I first joined the service club, to meet other kids.

Day 52

October 15, 2008

Dear Diary, Mom and Dad were asking me what was my favorite thing abot the camping trip. I'm not sure I can pick one thing! We made smores, which was fun. I kept accidentally dropping my marshmallow into the fire, which made everyone laugh! We rode the horses around the park on trails which was neat. I've only been horseback riding once before, so it's kind of new to me. It really didn't seem that hard once I got the hang of it. I can't wait for our next camping trip!

Day 51

October 14, 2008

Dear Diary, Camping was awesome! We went hiking and horseback riding. We had to cook our own dinner over the campfire. Nothing fancy, just hotdogs and beans and stuff like that. Caroline and I did everything together. Will write more about it tomorrow, I have to get ready for dinner now.

Day 50

October 10, 2008

Dear Diary, Today's the day! My sister Sierra brought me home a new sweatshirt to wear this weekend that has her college name on the front, I love it! We leave right after school. The campground isn't too far away, only a couple of hours. See you Monday night!

Day 49

October 8, 2008

Dear Diary, I am so, so, so excited to leave Friday! My friend Caroline and I are going to be in the same cabin with a couple other girls. It's too cold this time of year to sleep in our tents, we'd freeze. We use our tents in the spring and summer. Anyways, I'm so ready to go!

Day 48

October 6, 2008

Dear Diary, Next weekend is our camping trip! There's no school Monday because of Columbus Day, so that means we'll be gone for 3 days. We have a service club meeting tomorrow to go over the plans and make sure we have everything we need to bring. The campground we're going to has a barn with horses that you can ride too! It's going to be so much fun!

Day 47

October 5, 2008

Dear Diary, I feel bad I haven't written in a while, but Sierra and I have been hanging out. She's starting a new job tomorrow and wanted me to come shopping with her to find work clothes. Shopping is not my favorite thing to do, but I had a blast hanging out with my big sis. She took me out for lunch and icecream. I'm so glad she's back home again.

Day 46

September 29, 2008

Dear Diary, It's funny how I feel so relieved after a service project is done. I love doing them and working to make things better, but it's a lot of work! Things get pretty hectic right before an event. Then after a couple of days I'm already looking for another project we can work on. That's the way it goes. But I am excited that we're planning our first camping trip in a while.

Day 45

September 28, 2008

Dear Diary, I have been so busy that I haven't even had time to write until now. Yesterday was our big fundraiser for the new recycling center. We had teams competing at the Ben and Jerry's to see who could finish the Vermonster first. It's this big tub of twenty scoops of icecream plus all kinds of toppings. Nobody ended up finishing it! We almost met our goal of raising enough money, but lucky for us the mayor said the city would kick in the rest since we had worked so hard.

Day 44

September 23, 2008

Dear Diary, This afternoon I went hiking in the woods with Sierra. She wanted to see what new trails Dad and I have been following. We even saw a family of Mallard ducks by the lake. That's why I love going on the trails, you never know what you'll find.  Next time I'll have to remember to bring some bread for them.

Day 43

September 22, 2008

Dear Diary, Allison called last night! It didn't sound like she was in another state. She sounded just like she did when she lived in the next neighborhood over. We talked about school, and her new house. She even has her own bathroom inside her bedroom. I really do miss Allison though. Her parents are talking about coming back for vacation over winter break. That would be so awesome!

Day 42

September 18, 2008

Dear Diary, I think my parents were a little surprised. We collected over $200 in the hurricane jar at school. That means they're going to donate the same amount I collected. That's about $450 all together. Plus the other jars we put around town. I wasn't sure about using collection jars, but it really worked. Now tomorrow I have to call the charity we're going to send the money to.

Day 41

September 15, 2008

Dear Diary, Okay, no more hurricanes or natural disasters allowed! We were already collecting money in jars for Hurricane Gustav, so now that money can hopefully be enough to help for Hurricane Ike as well. My parents said they will match whatever money I collect from my school jar. That is so great! I hope it's a lot!

Day 40

September 12, 2008

Dear Diary, Uggh, we are going over to Gabrielle's house today. I know I can tolerate it for Mom's sake, but I'd rather not. I'd much rather stay here and hang out with my sister. I even asked Mom if I could, but she said no. Maybe Gabrielle will be having a good day where she's nice. I can only hope.

Day 39

September 10, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm so excited that we've finally set a date for our camping trip. Our club hasn't been camping in a while. It's the second weekend in October. I think we have that Monday off too for a holiday from school. I know some people like camping in a cabin where they can get in their car and drive to a restaurant, but not me. I like roughing it in tents and cooking our own food over a fire.

Day 38

September 6, 2008

Dear Diary, One sure way to forget about being sad is to stay busy. After hearing about Hurricane Gustav and all the people in Louisiana who need help, our service club had an idea. We're going to set up collection jars around town for people to drop change into. My teacher said we may even be able to bring a couple jars into school. Maybe one for the office and one for our classroom. Then we're going to give the money we collect to one of the charities helping the victims in Louisiana. Every little bit helps.

Day 37

September 3, 2008

Dear Diary, Allison and her family left for Massachusetts yesterday. I was really sad to see her go. We decided to trade stuffed teddy bears so we can each have something that belongs to the other one. It just seems weird to be going to school and doing things and she's not there. Mom says it takes time, but that I'll probably always miss her some.

Day 36

August 31, 2008

Dear Diary, I really don't need new clothes for school right now, I'd rather wait and buy new winter clothes. But I still need notebooks and pencils and all that other stuff. Our teacher already mailed a list of the supplies we need for the first day of school. There's probably 30 or 40 things on that list! Sierra said she would take me this afternoon.

Day 35

August 30, 2008

Dear Diary, So much going on lately. We scheduled our next service project for the end of September at Ben and Jerry's. My sister Sierra and I have been hanging out, which is cool since I haven't seen her in a while. She even climbed up into my treehouse today! And now that school is starting in 3 days I have to get shopping for school supplies.

Day 34

August 28, 2008

Dear Diary, Allison didn't get to spend the night until yesterday. They've been really busy packing and getting ready to move. Her mom said they leave next week. Allison and I had fun doing all the silly things we like to do. We stayed up late and made cookies. I think we ate more of the dough than we used to bake. I'm really going to miss her. Mom says we can email each other everyday if we want.

Day 33

August 23, 2008

Dear Diary, Allison called me this morning to tell me her family sold their house. That means she'll be leaving soon for Massachusetts. I knew it would happen sooner or later. I was hoping for much later, like never! Her family wants to get moved in before school starts. Since that's only a couple weeks away I know it won't be long. Mom suggested I invite Allison for a sleepover tomorrow night.

Day 32

August 21, 2008

Dear Diary, Sierra is home again! It's great to have her back, but it does feel kind of strange. We kind of got used to it being just the three of us. Tonight when I set the table for dinner, I forgot about Sierra and only set three places. We laughed about it. She keeps saying how much I've grown since she last saw me. Pretty soon I think I'll be as tall as Sierra.

Day 31

August 16, 2008

Dear Diary, You know, I love eating out, but lately it seems like we've had take-out more than ever. Before we know it, we're all starving and then it's too late to figure out what to cook. Mom promises that tonight is the last night for take out. Sierra will be home tomorrow, and Mom is going to make her favorite meal, Swiss steak and mashed potatoes. Yummy!

Day 30

August 15, 2008

Dear Diary, Things have been kind of hectic around here lately. Mom has been busy getting Sierra's room ready since she'll be home in a couple days. I've been busy getting this recycling project organized with my club. We still have to pick a date and figure out how we're going to advertise the event. So many details to work on, but I love it!

Day 29

August 10, 2008

Dear Diary, Sierra called again last night, and she'll be flying in next weekend. Not sure if she's done with school or how long she'll be staying with us. I hope for a while. When I was little we had a love/hate relationship. We could be getting along great one minute, and then arguing the next. But once Sierra went to study abroad, we started emailing and talking on the phone. We found out that we missed each other a lot.

Day 28

August 6, 2008

Dear Diary, My big sister Sierra is coming home soon! She's been studying abroad in France for the last two years. Since she left we've only seen her once. This was kind of a surprise to my parents too. They thought she still had one semester left. I guess she'll have to stay in my old room since I moved into her room. Hopefully she won't mind.

Day 27

August 2, 2008

Dear Diary, I hate to admit it, but I'm glad that Allison's family hasn't sold their house yet. I feel bad saying that, but it's true. I know that after they find someone to buy it that it won't be long till they move away. Mom says I should try not to think about that and instead focus on having fun with Allison. Sometimes I hate it when Mom is right.

Day 26

July 28, 2008

Dear Diary, My parents must know I'm depressed about Allison moving so soon. Yesterday they took me to the Ben and Jerry's icecream factory. It was good but didn't really make me feel any better, until I got my service project idea. It kind of came out of nowhere. They have this twenty scoop icecream there called the "Vermonster". And then it hit me! I'm going to bring it up at our next service club meeting to see if we could have an icecream eating contest to raise money for our recycling project.

Day 25

July 25, 2008

Dear Diary, Well, my best friend Allison is moving away. They found a house in Massachusetts and her dad has a new job all lined up. It made me sad to go over to her house and see the "For Sale" sign in their front yard. Is it bad to wish that they can't sell their house? I don't want her to move away.

Day 24

July 23, 2008

Dear Diary, Our service club has been talking about what our next service project should be. We're thinking about trying to set up a new recycling center. The other one is kind of far away and I don't think people bother driving their plastics and newspapers that far anyway. If we make it easier for people maybe they will recycle more often instead of throwing things in the garbage.

Day 23

July 20, 2008

Dear Diary, I think I'm finally starting to feel better today. I've been so tired from being sick. I never knew I could sleep so much. Mom kept nagging me to drink more liquids. Then everytime I drank too much I got sick again. But now I finally can keep food down. What a relief. If I ever get sick again it will be too soon.

Day 22

July 16, 2008

Dear Diary, How can you have the flu in the summer? I thought that was only when it's cold outside? At first Mom thought maybe the potato salad from our fishing trip was bad, but that's not it. I actually have a stomach flu. Ugggghhh! My stomach feels awful, and right now I'm going to just go to bed and hope that when I wake up this pain in my stomach is gone.

Day 21

July 13, 2008

Dear Diary, We had a lot of fun fishing yesterday with Dad. I got pretty good at baiting the hook. I think I still need a little more practice at reeling the fish in though. The fish didn't seem to like my bait as much as my mom's. She caught twice as many as I did! But we had a good time. Dad says we can go again sometime.

Day 20

July 12, 2008

Dear Diary, My dad is taking Mom and I fishing today. I've never been fishing before. But he says it's not that hard. I like learning how to do new things. Not sure about putting the bait on the hook, but I'll try.

Day 19

July 8, 2008

Dear Diary, Allison came over today. We made these really neat frienship bracelets. Allison really is my best friend. We've known each other since kindergarten. That's a really long time, isn't it? Her parents are talking about moving to Massachusetts. I hope they don't go. I'd be so sad if Allison moved away.

Day 18

July 6, 2008

Dear Diary, Whew...as much fun as it was, I'm relieved this project is done. I think it went pretty well, considering a few people from the club decided not to show up and help. But everything else seemed to fall in place. We have a few hundred Freedom Cards to send to the troops. Ms. Shannon called it a big success.

Day 17

July 3, 2008

Dear Diary, I feel like my brain is spinning around in my head so fast lately! So much left to do to get ready for our big service project tomorrow. I have all my supplies ready to go in boxes in the garage. Now I just have to finish getting the schedule together of who is doing what, when. That seems to be the hard part. My parents have decided to make a night of it, and they're going to help out some while they're at the fireworks festival. I better get busy!

Day 16

June 30, 2008

Dear Diary, Ms. Shannon has a great idea for our project. Since it's almost the Fourth of July, we're going to make that a part of it. When they have the fireworks festival at the park next Friday, we're going to set up a booth. That way we can have people there make their own Freedom Cards for the troops. It seems perfect to get people involved on such an important holiday. Now I just have to get together all the supplies we need. So much to do, I better get going!

Day 15

June 28, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm having a hard time with our Freedom Card project. Sometimes it can be frustrating when you're trying to get things organized and it feels like you're the only one helping. I think some kids are only in our service club to socialize and not to help. Don't get me wrong, I like to have fun too. But who says you can't have fun while you're working?

Day 14

June 26, 2008

Dear Diary, We have been trying to come up with a new service project idea for our club. Finally we have one. We're going to create and mail "Freedom cards" to the troops in Iraq. Ms. Shannon is going to let me organize the drive. We're not only going to make the cards ourselves, we're also going to get the people in our community to help with the cards. I think this will be a fun project that lets the soldiers know we're thinking about them.

Day 13

June 19, 2008

Dear Diary, Gabrielle drove me nuts all day yesterday and today. For somebody who wants to be my friend, she sure doesn't act like it. Mom thought we should do some crafts together. Gabrielle made fun of the way I draw. I try to bit my tongue and not say anything back, but it's really hard.

Day 12

June 18, 2008

Dear Diary, I wish a hole in the Earth would just swallow me up right now. Mom just told me that Gabrielle, her friend's daughter is coming over today to spend the night! She's younger then me, but she's so bossy and mean. I shouldn't have to play with someone I don't like, right? I don't want to hurt my mom's feelings, but I feel like I should say something. Just because she's friends with Cherie doesn't mean I have to be friends with her daughter.

Day 11

June 15, 2008

Dear Diary, For Father's Day today I made my dad a nature collection book. We like to go on hikes together and find different plants and flowers. So I made him a book with pictures of all the different ones in our area. I hope he likes it. There's even a log to keep track of which ones we find on our nature walks.

Day 10

June 13, 2008

Dear Diary, Yesterday my mom and I went to her friend's house. She has a daughter a little bit younger than me. The girl's name is Gabrielle. Because our moms have been friends for so long, Gabrielle and I have kind of grown up together. So it's more like she's my little sister. I wouldn't say she's my friend though. It makes it so hard, because I would rather play with my own friends.

Day 9

June 11, 2008

Dear Diary, It rained all last night, and when I woke up, it was still raining! I can't beleive clouds can hold so much rain. Hopefully it will stop soon. My friend Allison is coming over and we always like to be outside. There's a treehouse my dad built for me when I was little. Now it's kind of a place to hang out with my friends. But it's no fun when it rains.

Day 8

June 8, 2008

Dear Diary, I have to hurry because we're getting ready to go. We're on our way to the Vermont Dairy Festival. It's kind of a tradition that my family goes every year. They have horses, arts and crafts, and all kinds of fun things to do. We missed the fireworks they had last night, but that's okay. At least we get to spend the whole day there today.

Day 7

June 6, 2008

Dear Diary, I know, I know, it has been a while since I've written in my diary. But with school ending and our Memorial Weekend community project, there just hasn't been time. It's so much fun working to help other people. My mom is the one who got me started in my club. When I was little, she used to take me with her to soup kitchens to help. She always says that helping just one person makes a world of difference. How true.

Day 6

May 15, 2008

Dear Diary, I am so excited!! My service project this spring is to go to the local children’s hospital and help terminally ill children build a butterfly garden. We are spending Memorial Day weekend on this project. This is going to be so much fun.

Day 5

April 26, 2008

Dear Diary, I have a math test tomorrow so I don't have lots of time to write. Daddy is going to help me so I can be sure to get an "A" That's all that is going on with me today!

Day 4

April 23, 2008

Dear Diary, Mom took me to the mall today to get some new shoes and she let my friend Allison go too. We had fun looking at all the clothes and then had lunch in the food court. My mom is the best and I am so lucky.

Day 3

April 20, 2008

Dear Diary. Today was mostly boring. I helped mom clean her car and my little sister to clean her room. I can't wait for this weekend. My club is going to a sugar house to see Maple syrup made for one of our projects. It will be so cool and it's always so much fun no matter what we do.

Day 2

April 17, 2008

Dear Diary, School was so much fun today. It was my teacher's last day because she is going to have her baby. Ms. Reed from the other class helped us have a baby shower for her. We gave her bottles and some bibs and even got to have popcorn! It was more fun than school today.

Day 1

April 14, 2008

Dear Diary, Hi! I am starting this diary for a project for my club. Ms.Shannon, our leader said we will all have fun keeping track of stuff we do and that we will really be glad we did it when we are grown ups. I hope my life is not too boring to keep a diary!
