Kaitlyn's Diary

Day 157

March 23, 2010

Dear Diary, No fair! Mackenzie asked if I could come play at her house, but my daddy said no. He said Mackenzie can play at our house, but I can't go over there yet since my parents don't know her family. I understand it, but I don't like it. My house is boring, I want to play at her house. Maybe Mackenzie can bring some of her games over here to my house to play. I'll ask-

Day 156

March 14, 2010

Dear Diary, Momma says I have to go to bed soon, but I'm not tired. I know the clock says it's 8:00, but with the time change my body just isn't ready. Daylight savings seems like such a dumb idea. I'm glad there's school tomorrow so I can see my new friend Mackenzie. She's really nice.

Day 155

March 10, 2010

Dear Diary, Grandma sent me this new puzzle, but I just can't do it. It says it's for ages 7 and up, and I still can't do it. Why would they make it so hard? I love puzzles, but not when they frustrate me. I'll ask Daddy if he wants to help me do it when he gets home from work.

Day 154

March 5, 2010

Dear Diary, No Family Fun Friday tonight. Momma is really sick, and the doctor thinks she has food poisoning. She is really sick and has just been laying on the couch. Well, except for when she's throwing up! Poor Momma! Maybe she'll feel better tomorrow, and we can do something fun.

Day 153

February 26, 2010

Dear Diary, I want William to play with me, but all he wants to do is Legos. I really don't like Legos. Can't we play a game or something, or go outside and play? If I had a sister I bet she would play what I want to play. I don't think my parents are having anymore kids though-

Day 152

February 18, 2010

Dear Diary, Well, it's not strep throat, but today's the first day I'm actually feeling better. Momma says she thinks I can finally go back to school tomorrow. Just in time for Friday, and then it's the weekend. I'm sick of being home! Momma said maybe we can do something special for Family Fun Friday.

Day 151

February 15, 2010

Dear Diary, I have a doctor's appointment today. I have a sore throat and a fever, and the doctor wants to make sure it's not strep, whatever that is. I already missed school today, and I hope I can go back tomorrow, but Momma doesn't think so. We'll see what the doctor says.

Day 150

February 11, 2010

Dear Diary, We had so much fun with Grandma and Poppop! They took us shopping and bought me this new cute outfit for school. And we watched movies and the only bad thing was having to go to school instead of getting to stay home with them. We might go see them for spring break or this summer.

Day 149

February 5, 2010

Dear Diary, Grandma and Poppop are coming tomorrow because my parents have to go to another work conference in California. I'll miss Momma and Daddy, but I can't wait to see my grandparents! They haven't seen our new house yet in Dallas. Time to go let Bailey out-

Day 148

January 29, 2010

Dear Diary, The biggest thing I get in trouble about is my bedtime. Sometimes, okay, lots of times, I just don't want to go to bed yet. I want to hang out with Momma and Daddy while they watch tv. Going to bed is so boring. If I'm not tired, why do I have to sleep?

Day 147

January 27, 2010

Dear Diary, Everybody here keeps asking me if I have a cold. I really don't, but my allergies make me sound like I do I guess. My nose is always stuffy and I think that's why. How annoying!

Day 146

January 20, 2010

Dear Diary, I'm trying so hard to be patient, but it's really hard. Momma promised me that we would decorate my room since we're in a new house. Well, now we've been here since Thanksgiving, and my new comforter set is still sitting in the office. I know she wants to paint and everything first, but I want to use my bed stuff now.

Day 145

January 14, 2010

Dear Diary, I think my little brother swiped my mp3 player. He usually asks me to borrow it, and I don't always say yes, especially if I want to use it. If I ask him he'll say no he doesn't have it. I better check his room while he's at soccer.

Day 144

January 9, 2010

Dear Diary, Family Fun Friday last night was pretty fun. We played "Sorry". I love that game, as long as I'm doing good. Daddy says it's all luck, no skill. Well, then I was pretty lucky since I won a game. I don't think my brother won any games! Next time I hope we play "Pictionary", or something else with teams.

Day 143

January 5, 2010

Dear Diary, Momma asked me if I want to play soccer, but I told her no. I don't even like soccer. I think I'll wait until spring when swimming starts. Swimming is way more fun! I did really good last year on the swim team. I hope I'll make the team for this year even though we're in a new place.

Day 142

December 28, 2009

Dear Diary, I didn't know it snows in Dallas! It has a couple of times already. It's not enough to go sledding, but you can have a snowball fight. I like to make snow angels too. Time for some more hot cocoa, and then I'm going back outside to play in the snow again.

Day 141

December 26, 2009

Dear Diary, One more week of vacation, and then it's back to school. Momma and Daddy said next weekend we can go back to Corpus Christi to visit our old friends. I can't wait to see Austin! I know it's only been a month since we moved to Dallas, but it already seems like longer than that.

Day 140

December 20, 2009

Dear Diary, My daddy wants us to get another dog! I never thought we would, but it was his idea. Now we just have to convince Momma. She's still saying no way. Momma can be kind of stubborn sometimes.

Day 139

December 15, 2009

Dear Diary, Last night we kept hearing this firetruck noise that wouldn't go away. When it sounded like it was right on our street, we went outside and there was a firetruck all decked out with holiday lights and a Santa on the top. They were throwing candy to all the kids as they drove by. Isn't that neat? We didn't have that in Corpus Christi!

Day 138

December 12, 2009

Dear Diary, Daddy is so funny sometimes. He's watching some gladiator show that's in Japanese and the announcer is so excited. Daddy is jumping up and down cheering for I don't know who...maybe the announcer?

Day 137

December 4, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm so glad I'm not my brother right now. I can hear Momma talking to him all the way upstairs. I guess he's been going to school and trading his toys away with new friends of his. Momma does not sounds happy about it. Oops!

Day 136

November 30, 2009

Dear Diary, Today was my first day at our new school. It's a lot bigger than my old school, and I kind of got lost a few times. The kids were really nice though, and one girl named Mackenzie helped me. She seemed really nice. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

Day 135

November 24, 2009

Dear Diary, I already miss my friends, but our new house is really cool. I have my own bathroom in my bedroom, no more sharing with William! It's a big neighborhood, so I hope there's some kids to play with. We've been so busy unpacking and all that, we haven't even be outside much.

Day 134

November 19, 2009

Dear Diary, Okay, now I'm starting to get really sad about moving. All the other kids are getting excited for vacation, and I'll be moving. Momma said we'll be in Dallas by Monday. Thanksgiving in a new house? I'm not sure it will feel like Thanksgiving at all.

Day 133

November 9, 2009

Dear Diary, I just ate the rest of the roasted pumpkin seeds Momma made. They're so good. Now I have to do my homework before I can go out and play. I don't think I have that much to do, so that's a good thing. I want to see if William will play in the backyard. He's lucky, he never gets homework.

Day 132

November 5, 2009

Dear Diary, Avery is coming over to spend the night tomorrow. I have no idea what we're doing yet, but that's okay, I'm sure we'll think of something. Daddy has to take William to his t-ball game, so at least we don't have to go to that. Girl time!

Day 131

October 30, 2009

Dear Diary, The day after tomorrow is November. That means we move in only a few more weeks! I'm kind of excited, but I'm starting to get a little sad too. I'm really going to miss Austin and my other friends. And now I have to go to a whole new school where I don't have any friends yet. Hopefully the kids are nice.

Day 130

October 25, 2009

Dear Diary, Don't tell my brother William, but I was really worried about him last night. He slipped and fell in the bathtub and split open his chin. There was blood everywhere, and Daddy had to take him to the after hours doctor. William had to get 5 stitches in his chin! It's only covered up with a bandaid, so I guess the stitches are small, but he said it hurts. Now Momma is joking about putting foam all over the bathroom.

Day 129

October 23, 2009

Dear Diary, Right now I'm sitting on a blanket at William's t-ball game. At least I bring my books and snacks and things to do while I'm here. My parents watch the game, but I'm just not that into baseball. It's not like I have a choice though of whether or not to go.

Day 128

October 14, 2009

Dear Diary, Our house sold! Well, it's not official yet, but my parents said they found someone who wants to buy it, and it looks like we'll be moving the week of Thanksgiving. Dallas here we come. I'm going to miss my friends, but Dallas seems like a fun place. It's not like we can't come back to visit.

Day 127

October 9, 2009

Dear Diary, Tonight we're going to some parents' night out thing our school is having. It's where the parents drop their kids off for pizza and a movie, while the parents go out by themselves. It is Family Fun Friday, but I guess we can do that tomorrow instead.

Day 126

October 5, 2009

Dear Diary, I wish that if we're going to move to Dallas that we could just hurry up and get it over with. Daddy is so stressed about work, and Momma is stressed about selling our house. And I'm just wondering where we're going to be for Thanksgiving dinner. Will we be here, or Dallas?

Day 125

September 28, 2009

Dear Diary, Saturday we went to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I thought it was super funny. I wish I was an inventor. I'd make something that would clean my room for me so I wouldn't have to do it. I don't think that's going to happen. Oh well, we had a good time, and then we ate burgers at this place where they sing all the time. It's hard to eat your food when you have someone standing right in front of you singing.

Day 124

September 25, 2009

Dear Diary, Family Fun Friday is now going to be Family Fun Saturday instead. My parents are cleaning like crazy tonight, getting ready for a couple different families that are supposed to come look at our house tomorrow morning. It's really a pain when your parents are trying to sell your house. You have to keep your room clean like all the time. You can never leave stuff on the floor, or anything.

Day 123

September 21, 2009

Dear Diary, Momma has this thing about not letting me change my mind about my school clothes in the morning. I have to pick out my outfit for school right before bed, but sometimes in the morning I don't feel like wearing what I had already picked out. She says then I just take forever to get ready, and leave a messy pile of clothes on the floor. William could care less, he'd wear the same outfit every day if Momma would let him.

Day 122

September 16, 2009

Dear Diary, I feel really bad for Daddy. He's been so sick this week. The doctor said he has some kind of bacterial infection, whatever that means. He's taking medicine, so hopefully he'll feel better soon. Family Fun Friday might have to be movie night at home this week I think.

Day 121

September 9, 2009

Dear Diary, We went to the beach last night after dinner to watch the sunset. It was fun, and William and I were searching for treasure, which was really pretty shells. When it was time to go home, we had to wait in our car for over an hour! The bridge was broken and no cars could go across. I'm so glad we have a dvd player in our car, so William and I watched tv till the bridge was open again.

Day 120

September 5, 2009

Dear Diary, School is going good, but it's hard to get to excited about my teachers and seeing my friends when I know we're probably moving soon. Well, we ARE moving, it just depends how long it takes to sell our house. When I came home from school today, there was a realtor going through our house with Momma, and now there's a "For Sale" sign in our yard. I still can't believe it.

Day 119

August 29, 2009

Dear Diary, No way! I told my parents my idea about moving to Missouri, and they said they had a surprise. They were going to wait to tell my brother and me, but it looks like we're moving to Dallas. It's still in Texas, but it's about 6 hours away from here. I was so surprised! And when I asked them what about school and everything, they said we'll stay here until we sell our house and then move to Dallas.

Day 118

August 27, 2009

Dear Diary, Sometimes I wish we lived in Missouri. They have really fun stuff to do here, and then we'd be with Grandma and Pop pop all the time. But if we did move, I'd miss my school, and all my friends. And I'd miss the beach too. But other than that, I think it would be cool. Guess I better go pack my bag, we leave this afternoon for home.

Day 117

August 19, 2009

Dear Diary, Here we are in Missouri! Grandma and Pop Pop were so excited for us to come visit. We're only here for a week. Daddy is flying in tomorrow because he had some big meeting yesterday and today. I can't wait until he gets here!

Day 116

August 12, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm actually kind of glad that art camp is over now. The first couple of days were fun, but then it got kind of boring. Doing art all day every day is just not my thing I guess. I told me momma, and she said that I don't have to do art camp next year if I don't want to, that I can do something else. I like that.

Day 115

August 6, 2009

Dear Diary, William and I helped Momma make breakfast this morning. We made french toast with sweet potatoes in it. I thought it sounded gross, but it was really good, kind of like pumpkin pie. But now I'm so full I don't think I'll ever be ready for lunch.  Time to leave for art camp!

Day 114

August 3, 2009

Dear Diary, Swimming feels like it just started, and we only have a couple weeks left. My favorite stroke is the freestyle. I think that's the one I'm the best at. Today was my first day at art camp too. I loved it! Other than the part where they told us what we had to paint, and all that, it was cool!

Day 113

July 27, 2009

Dear Diary, No computer? That really stinks. I turned it on, and it said "catastrophic error". Daddy says that means there is a virus on the computer, and now everything is erased. All my school work, all my games and levels I've beaten. I have to start all over!

Day 112

July 22, 2009

Dear Diary, Austin came over last night to play after dinner. I feel like its been forever since I saw him. We've both been busy with camp, and I have swim team too. We mostly played the computer. Austin was showing me a new game he plays online.

Day 111

July 15, 2009

Dear Diary, This week I have art camp. It's better now, but the first day was a mess. I accidentally went with the wrong group of kids, and didn't find out until lunch that I was with the 1st graders. Oops! So now that I'm with the right group it's going much better. I thought the other kids looked smaller than me! Time to get ready for swim practice-

Day 110

July 9, 2009

Dear Diary, We've already had two swim meets. I was pretty nervous for the first one, but the second one I did much better. It's so much fun, but after swimming I'm pretty tired. Sometimes I come home and take a nap!

Day 109

July 4, 2009

Dear Diary, Last night we missed Family Fun Friday. Daddy ended up having to work really late, and Momma made grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. How crazy is that? I think it was just so busy that she just threw it together. We're celebrating FFF tonight instead with the fireworks we're going to go watch with some friends. And Daddy won't miss it since he's not at work!

Day 108

June 28, 2009

Dear Diary, I can't believe how big our dog Bailey has gotten. I tried to pick him up today and he was so heavy I couldn't even pick him up all the way. When he was a little puppy I could carry him around the whole house. He's still such a cutie! I wonder if my parents will let us get another dog someday, Bailey needs a friend.

Day 107

June 24, 2009

Dear Diary, I made it! I made the swim team! I'm so excited, and our first swim meet is next week. It's going to be a busy summer. I have swim team, art camp, and horse camp. Then in August, I'm going to stay with Grandma and Pop Pop in Missouri for a week. Yeah!

Day 106

June 22, 2009

Dear Diary, Tryouts are over, and all I have to do now is wait. I actually did better than I thought I would, and my times seemed pretty close to some of the other girls. Now I'm pooped, and I think I'm just going to rest in my bed and read a new book I've been wanting to read. We shoud find out tomorrow who made the team.

Day 105

June 15, 2009

Dear Diary, Maybe I'm not meant to be a swimmer. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be, and all the other kids seem to know exactly what they're doing. I just feel kind of lost. The coach says I need to keep practicing and not give up. One more week, and then tryouts are Monday. I'll be amazed if I make swim team anyway.

Day 104

June 9, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm tired! Swim team practice has started, and the next two weeks are going to be tough. We swim every morning for 2 hours, and then tryouts for the actual team are on the 22nd. I'm a pretty good swimmer, but I've never really learned the names for different strokes, and so now I'm learning them. Wish me luck!

Day 103

June 6, 2009

Dear Diary, He's back! That big, huge, ugly toad from our swimming pool is back again! I thought Daddy got him out since I hadn't seen him, but I was wrong. Doesn't he have his own pond or something? It's not like our pool is a slimey swamp or something. I want my pool back!

Day 102

May 27, 2009

Dear Diary, Daddy brought me home this neat treasure chest. Well, it's not a real treasure chest, but I think it is. It's a box with a lock that turns. He said I can keep my treasures in there. Maybe I can keep my jewelry and hairclips in there for now until I have a treasure.

Day 101

May 24, 2009

Dear Diary, Yuck! I tried to go swimming yesterday, but after I got in the pool I saw a super huge toad in there! He was just laying on the bottom of the pool. It scared me so bad I got out right away! After he jumped out on the deck, Momma tried to move him outside with a broom, but it didn't work. Every time that toad saw her coming he jumped the other way. I hope Daddy can catch him when he gets home. I am not going swimming until that thing is gone!

Day 100

May 19, 2009

Dear Diary, Momma took me after school to sign up for swim team. Well, to sign up for practice and tryouts really. They do these practice sessions for the first 2 weeks, and then they have tryouts. If you make it, then you're on the team for the rest of the summer. I'm really nervous because I really want to do good, but I've never been on a swim team before. I'm a really good swimmer though.

Day 99

May 15, 2009

Dear Diary, We were supposed to go to the beach tonight for family fun Friday, but it's already thundering, so it's not looking too good. Our second idea is to go out for pizza and then watch a movie. This pizza place we go to has empty potato sacks covering the ceiling. I know it sounds really strange, but they have awesome pizza.

Day 98

May 10, 2009

Dear Diary, Since it's Momma's day today, we let her decide what we should do. And she wanted to go out on the boat. Yeah! We haven't really been out on it in a while. So in a little bit, we're going to leave. Then when we come back to the marina, we're going to eat at this restaurant they have there. It's really pretty-

Day 97

May 4, 2009

Dear Diary, Our neighbor just came over and brought my brother boxes and boxes of legos her son was too old for. Lucky William! Why can't we have any girl neighbors done with their toys? Maybe some books, or puzzles would be cool.

Day 96

April 27, 2009

Dear Diary, Momma is making a huge mess in my room right now. She's going through all my closets and all the closets in the whole house. Our neighborhood is having a big garage sale next week, and I guess she's looking for stuff to sell. I better make sure she's not getting rid of any of my books-

Day 95

April 23, 2009

Dear Diary, The best news is that Grandma and Poppop are coming for my birthday! Last year they couldn't, so I'm so excited they get to come with us to the Texas State Aquarium! And they're going to stay for a whole week. I can't wait!

Day 94

April 18, 2009

Dear Diary, Last night for Family Fun Friday we went to the movies to see "Monsters vs. Aliens". It was okay I guess. I think William liked it more than I did. I did like all the popcorn though!

Day 93

April 15, 2009

Dear Diary, Momma was going to get rid of the rocker and ottoman set that we've had since I was a baby. She figured since William and I don't get rocked to sleep anymore that we don't need it. I begged her to let me keep it in my room so I have somewhere to sit when I read. Momma said I have to actually use it though if we're going to keep it-

Day 92

April 11, 2009

Dear Diary, I've still been avoiding cleaning my room. Yes, I know it's a week later, and I still haven't cleaned it. Momma said no tv, no playing outside after school until it's done. Well, now she's threatening to take away my computer and books. Alright, I guess I should get started. Maybe I'll ask her if I can do half of it today and half tomorrow.

Day 91

April 5, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm hiding in my room, hoping that Momma will forget that she told me to clean my room. It really is a mess, and I just don't even want to do it. Why does it need to be clean anyway? No one ever has to see it. That's my opinion!

Day 90

March 30, 2009

Dear Diary, I've already been talking to Momma and Daddy about my birthday. It's in May. Momma says no more parties, that I can bring a friend with us to do something, like go to the Texas State Aquarium. I think that sounds awesome! They have dolphins, and you can pet the stingrays too-

Day 89

March 26, 2009

Dear Diary, I think I figured out what I want to be when I grow up! I want to be an animal doctor. You know, a veterinarian. I love my dog Bailey, and I love all kinds of animals. At the bookstore yesterday I used my gift card to buy a couple of new books about animals. One is about prehistoric animals like dinosaurs, and the other one is about the anatomy of dogs. How cool!

Day 88

March 19, 2009

Dear Diary, We have this big oak tree in our backyard that I love to climb, but sometimes it's hard to get up into by myself. Daddy nailed pieces of wood, like a ladder on the tree trunk. Now it's much easier! Now if we could just have a treehouse up there it would be perfect. Oh well, I think I'm going to go up there now and read my book.

Day 87

March 14, 2009

Dear Diary, William has a t-ball game today, AND we're supposed to be at our friend's birthday party. So, Daddy's going to take William to his game, and then meet Momma and me at Avery's party when the game is over. At least I don't have to go to William's game. A party sounds like much more fun!

Day 86

March 7, 2009

Dear Diary, You know what we did last night for Family Fun Friday? We made chocolate covered strawberries. That was yummy! I think William and I both had chocolate all over our shirts. I wish we could do that again next Friday. Better go get dressed, Momma and I are going to run errands in a little bit.

Day 85

March 3, 2009

Dear Diary, William's t-ball game last night was absolutely freezing! At least Daddy got me a hot cocoa from the concession stand. That helped a little. So instead of sitting down reading one of my books, I was running all around the practice field with the other kids. We were playing tag.

Day 84

February 26, 2009

Dear Diary, Well, I looked at the camp stuff. Momma already said yes to the art camp, but she said we'll see about the 2 week horse camp. I guess it's a lot more expensive than the other ones. If not, that's okay, I'll just pick a different one. Maybe I should ask Austin if he's going to camp this summer. It might be fun to sign up for the same one.

Day 83

February 22, 2009

Dear Diary, Momma wants me to look over these papers she brought home about summer camp. It's only February, not sure why we have to worry about summer already. But she said the popular ones fill up fast. I'm not going to camp every week, but Momma and Daddy said I can pick a few weeks to go. I really want to try to art camp and the horse one might be fun too. We'll see-

Day 82

February 16, 2009

Dear Diary, The opening ceremonies were so cool! I couldn't believe how high the rock climbing wall was! But I love to climb trees, so I wasn't even scared. We had to wait a little while in line, but it was worth it! I got almost all the way to the top, and I only slipped that once. I wish we had a rock climbing wall like that in our backyard!

Day 81

February 13, 2009

Dear Diary, Tomorrow my brother's baseball league is having some kind of celebration to kick off the spring season. There's supposed to be bounce houses and a rock climbing wall, pizza, all kinds of stuff. That should be fun. And, some of my friends will be there, like Austin and Avery. It's kind of cool that there letting the brothers and sisters of the baseball players come have fun too.

Day 80

February 8, 2009

Dear Diary, Momma and Daddy will be home later tonight! I missed them even though I still had fun with Grandma and Pop-pop. I think Bailey missed them too. He's been sleeping in their room a lot while they were gone. Grandma said I can wait up for them to get home as long as my room is clean and I already take my bath and get ready for bed. No problem!

Day 79

February 6, 2009

Dear Diary, Sorry I haven't written in so long, but I've been really really busy. Grandma and Pop-pop have been here all week while Momma and Daddy are at the conference in Las Vegas. I've been having soooo much fun this week. They took us to the park, and the library, and tonight we're going to the movies to see Hotel for Dogs. Austin said it's a funny movie, so I think I'll like it.

Day 78

January 29, 2009

Dear Diary, Grandma and Pop-pop will be here tomorrow when I get home from school! Grandma always brings us a present whenever she comes to visit. She hides them in her purse. Gotta go, William has a t-ball game I have to go to. Better bring a good book!

Day 77

January 26, 2009

Dear Diary, Yeah! Momma and Daddy have to go out of town for some conference, and so Grandma and Pop-pop are going to come stay with us while they're gone. They're going to be here for a whole week! I can't wait till they get here Friday! I know we still have school, but we'll still see them a lot. Wait till Grandma sees how many more books I've collected-

Day 76

January 21, 2009

Dear Diary, If Daddy doesn't think I'm fast enough to keep up with him running, than I'm going to get faster. Starting today I'm going to take Bailey and see how fast I can run and speedwalk. I hope Bailey likes the exercise. Maybe then Daddy will say I can go with him in the mornings.

Day 75

January 15, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm kind if sad. My daddy started running in the mornings before he goes to work. He used to run track in highschool. Well, I asked him if I could go running with him in the mornings too. He said no because it's still dark out when he goes, and because I'm too young. I know he's probably much faster than me, but I'd still like to try.

Day 74

January 8, 2009

Dear Diary, I added three new chapter books to my collection today from the bookstore. I love my collection of books! I think I have about 20 of them so far. They're all my favorite ones. Pretty soon I think I'll need a bigger bookshelf.

Day 73

January 4, 2009

Dear Diary, I really really had an awesome time in Colorado, but now it's nice to be back home again! I missed Bailey so much! I think he got bigger while we were gone. And it is nice to not have to share a room with my brother, and have my own space again. Gotta go, Mom's taking me over to Austin's house to play while she takes William to get a haircut and run some errands.

Day 72

December 30, 2008

Dear Diary, Our last day of skiing was today, and I'm so sad that was it. But I was too tired to go up the lift even one more time. We had dinner at this restaurant that looks like a big log cabin with fireplaces everywhere at the top of the mountain. Well, time to go pack my bag and get ready to go home. I hate to leave, but I can't wait to see Bailey!

Day 71

December 25, 2008

Dear Diary, I really, really love it here in Colorado. The room we're staying in is more like a townhouse. It has a kitchen, an upstairs and downstairs, and even a fireplace. I wish we lived here! We're only here till New Year's Eve, and then it's time to fly back home to Texas. This trip was a great idea Dad had.

Day 70

December 20, 2008

Dear Diary, Breckenridge. That's the name of the place where we are that I couldn't remember the other day. This morning we already went and took ski lessons. Not to learn any fancy tricks or anything, just to learn how not to get hurt when you fall down. Oh and also to learn how to stay up on our skis better!

Day 69

December 18, 2008

Dear Diary, Tomorrow morning we leave for our ski trip to Colorado. I forget the name of the place we're going to, but that's okay. Momma has been running around like a mad woman trying to get everything packed and ready to go. She has lists everywhere for everybody too. Right now Momma's running all over upstairs trying to find the brown scarf that matches her gloves that she bought for our trip. I bet Bailey found it and hid it somewhere. Bailey is going to stay with our friends who live down the street. Gotta go finish packing!

Day 68

December 11, 2008

Dear Diary, Family fun Friday is tomorrow, and we're going to some Italian restaurant called Alfano's. They have the best peppermint icecream with chocolate sauce on top. William always lets me eat his cherry too since he doesn't like cherries. There are some good points about having a little brother.

Day 67

December 5, 2008

Dear Diary, Momma and Daddy have some fancy dinner party to go to tonight. No kids allowed they said. I wouldn't mind if there were no kids but me, I love parties. All the yummy food, and seeing the mommies all dressed in beautiful dresses. But Momma said this is business dinner party to help Daddy get more clients. The babysitter should be here any minute, better go downstairs to see.

Day 66

November 28, 2008

Dear Diary, Do you know what the best part about Thanksgiving is? All the leftover stuffing pumpkin pie you get to eat for the next week! We always have ham for Thanksgiving. Ham's okay, but it's not as good as stuffing and pumpkin pie. Daddy invited over a couple of his friends from work to come celebrate with our family. We had fun.

Day 65

November 20, 2008

Dear Diary, We met our friends at the park again this afternoon. Usually I like running around and climbing the trees with the kids. Today I just didn't feel like it. So I got my chapter book and sat in our car reading. Momma didn't mind at all.

Day 64

November 12, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm a little upset with my brother right now. I was typing something on the computer and went to get a snack. Well, William closed out the program before I had the chance to save it, and now everything I typed is gone! I wish he just would have asked before he jumped on the computer, then I could have saved it first. Brothers!

Day 63

November 9, 2008

Dear Diary, Bailey did it! I was looking all around for my Highschool Musical book and found it in Bailey's bed. The little stinker chewed on the corners too. At least he didn't totally ruin it. Dogs can't read, so I'm not sure why he took it, but at least I have it back.

Day 62

November 7, 2008

Dear Diary, I can't find my Highschool Musical book. I seem to be having a problem losing books lately! Last week it was my library books. I had it a couple days ago. I seriously doubt William borrowed it. Maybe Momma has seen it. I'm gonna go ask her.

Day 61

November 3, 2008

Dear Diary, My brother William has been acting really bonkers today. Momma says sometimes boys have a lot of energy. I'm not sure energy is the right word. Bonkers sounds much better. He's running all around the house with his Star Wars blaster and yelling. Even Bailey ran to hide under the bed! I think I'll go play outside where it's not so loud.

Day 60

October 30, 2008

Dear Diary, My Daddy and Momma have decided to start their own company! It sounds very exciting even though I still don't understand what Daddy does...something with computers. Anyways, he is going to quit his job and then he'll be his own boss. That would be pretty cool I think. Then you can take vacations whenever you want and only do as much work as you want. Momma says that's not really the way it works though.

Day 59

October 28, 2008

Dear Diary, Our trip to go skiing in Colorado isn't for another 2 months, but Momma has already been shopping for ski jackets and waterproof gloves, and more. We just don't need much winter stuff here in Texas. I hope she finds me a pink and brown winter hat to match my jacket. I love pink and brown together, especially with polka dots!

Day 58

October 23, 2008

Dear Diary, I love Corpus Christi, really I do. We live near the water and it's warm and sunny here most of the time. That's good for us to play outside. The only thing I don't like about playing outside is the sandspurs. For some reason, we have sandspurs everywhere in Corpus Christi. No running around outside barefoot, I always have to wear my tennis shoes. I guess it could be worse, right?

Day 57

October 21, 2008

Dear Diary, I finally found my missing books! Kind of a weird spot, but they were out in the garage on top of the grill. I must have put them there after I got out of the car or something. Oh well, at least I don't have to pay a fine for losing them or anything. I think I better keep them in my bedroom from now on.

Day 56

October 17, 2008

Dear Diary, I can't find my library books anywhere. What stinks about that is that I didn't get to check out any new books today. If you have 2 books out already, then you can't get more until you bring them back. I have no idea where I left them! At least I have the weekend to try and find them, but I'm still disappointed I had to leave the library with no new books to read.

Day 55

October 13, 2008

Dear Diary, Sometimes homework is very frustrating for me. I don't mind doing it because I love school. It just seems like a lot of times I do my homework and think I'm all finished and then Momma looks it over. Whenever she checks it then I end up having to go back and redo parts of it. That is very frustrating for me.

Day 54

October 8, 2008

Dear Diary, My plan yesterday worked. I went outside with Bailey and I ran around while he chased me in the yard. Then I put him on his running line and I rode my scooter back and forth. After that I wasn't yawning anymore! Problem solved.

Day 53

October 7, 2008

Dear Diary, I cannot stop yawning today! I don't know why my body is tired, I don't feel tired at all. I went to bed at my regular time and everything. I've heard that sometimes people yawn when they are bored. Maybe I'll go play outside for a while and see if that wakes my body up!

Day 52

October 3, 2008

Dear Diary, William has started playing fall t-ball. Momma asked me if I wanted to play too, but no thanks. So now we go to the ball field three times a week to watch his team practice and play games. I get bored after a while watching them play, so I usually bring my homework or puzzle books or something to do. I want my brother to do good, and I cheer for him, but it is pretty boring you know.

Day 51

October 1, 2008

Dear Diary, Not again! Last time we missed our park playdate because I had too much homework. Now this time we had to miss because I have a stupid cold. I can't even taste when I eat my food! Why do we have to get colds anyway? I hate when I have to miss out on fun stuff because I'm sick.

Day 50

September 28, 2008

Dear Diary, Momma didn't like the way our school pictures turned out, so we're getting pictures done at the mall this afternoon. I hate getting my pictures taken because everytime they tell me to smile it ends up not looking like my real smile. At least I get to wear my pretty new dress for the pictures. It's peach color with gold sparkles on it.

Day 49

September 27, 2008

Dear Diary, Guess what we did last night for FFF(Family Fun Friday)? We went to the Fun Center! We did go-cart racing and played video games. It was awesome! William had to drive his go-cart with Daddy because he's younger than me. But I got to drive mine all by myself! I hope we get to go back there again soon.

Day 48

September 23, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm kind of bummed right now. I just finished my homework, and now it's dinner time. Usually it doesn't take me that long. We were supposed to meet a bunch of our friends at the park this afternoon, but Momma had to call and tell them we couldn't make it. I was so sad. She says hopefully we can meet them next week. It's kind of a tradition that we meet on Tuesdays at the park.

Day 47

September 20, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm kind of sad that swim season is almost over already. It seems like we just started swimming again, and now the pool water is already getting cool. Another month or so and no more swimming. I wish Momma and Daddy would hurry up and get a pool heater, then I could practice my diving almost all year! I'm thinking about trying out for swim team next summer. Any practice I can do before then will help.

Day 46

September 19, 2008

Dear Diary, Yesterday in school, one of the boys in my class called me "shoe breath". The teacher told him that wasn't nice and made him apologize. Sometimes boys can be so mean. I'm used to playing with boys; Austin, my brother. Even most of the kids on my street are boys. But, sometimes I wish there were a few girls my age that lived closer.

Day 45

September 14, 2008

Dear Diary, The hurricane ended up going further north than Corpus Christi. I'm still glad we went to San Antonio though. William and I had a lot of fun playing with our friends that live there. It's one of Daddy's old friends from college and his family. We see them every once in a while. Too bad they don't live closer.

Day 44

September 10, 2008

Dear Diary, Here we go again with another hurricane. I wasn't home the last time my family evacuated, I was in Missouri with Grandma and Pop-pop. It looks like we'll be leaving tomorrow to get off the island. Corpus Christi is being evacuated before the storm comes. And they've already cancelled school for Thursday and Friday. We'll be on our way to San Antonio to stay with friends. I'm glad we can bring Bailey with us too.

Day 43

September 9, 2008

Dear Diary, I know December is kind of far away, but Dad just told us that our family is going on a ski trip to Colorado on winter vacation. Wow! I've never seen snow before, and that sounds like fun, fun, fun! At least it gives me something to look forward too. I think Grandma and Pop-pop might fly out there to meet us too. That would be the best!

Day 42

September 5, 2008

Dear Diary, My Momma has been at my school a lot during the day lately. She's getting ready for the book fair. I love to see the new chapter books they have, and sometimes they even sell computer games. Momma said she's going to give William and me a certain amount of money to spend at the book fair, and "when it's gone, it's gone".

Day 41

September 3, 2008

Dear Diary, We went swimming in the pool today after school. The water already feels like it's not as warm. I love swimming, but not when the water is cold. William says I'm a baby, but that's the way it is. Momma and Daddy are talking about getting a pool heater. That would be so awesome, because then we could swim till at least November.

Day 40

August 31, 2008

Dear Diary, Football, football, football. That's all my brother and Daddy want to do on weekends this time of year. I don't really understand what the fascination is. Usually that's when Momma and I have our girl time together. We either go shopping or stay home and play games or do a puzzle. Thank goodness Austin doesn't care about football.

Day 39

August 29, 2008

Dear Diary, Mom said I had to give Bailey a bath today afterschool. He was getting pretty smelly. It's so hard though. You have to keep him on his leash the whole time, or else he runs away as soon as he sees you with the garden hose. So I had one foot standing on his leash, one hand on the hose, and one hand doing the washing. This time he did pretty good, but he still shook the water off after I rinsed him and I got soaked!

Day 38

August 27, 2008

Dear Diary, Here we go again. Another hurricane to worry about. This one is called Gustav. Didn't we just have a hurricane? Right now they think it might hit Louisiana over Labor Day weekend. But hurricanes don't follow an exact line. Mom and Dad said we'll keep our hurricane kit ready just in case. You don't want to wish a hurricane on anybody, but you don't want it to come your way either!

Day 37

August 22, 2008

Dear Diary, William went to the dentist yesterday and he has three cavities. So now he has to get fillings. I've never had any cavities. I always brush my teeth, and even floss when I remember. I go to the dentist next week. It's kind of fun actually. Our dentist has a really big office where the kids are all getting their teeth cleaned in the same room. They have a tv, games, books to color in and other fun stuff to do while you wait.

Day 36

August 19, 2008

Dear Diary, Two days of school and already I have homework. I actually don't mind homework so much since I like playing school at home anyway. My teacher this year is Miss Lanier. She seems really nice! Austin isn't in my class, but we still see each other at lunch and p.e., so that's not too bad. I'm going over his house tomorrow after school since Momma has to take William to the dentist.

Day 35

August 17, 2008

Dear Diary, I cannot believe that tomorrow is the first day of school. I'm a little anxious to see who my teacher is. I wish I still had my last teacher, Mrs. Eaton. I actually had her for two years since she looped with our entire class. That means I may not have the same kids in my class either. I hope so. I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight thinking about starting school.

Day 34

August 12, 2008

Dear Diary, We had a lot of fun Friday night. Dad took us to the amphitheater to watch the "Horton Hears a Who" movie. It was a lot more fun watching a movie outside instead of just sitting in our family room. The park is right on the bay. We sat on a big blanket and ate popcorn.

Day 33

August 8, 2008

Dear Diary, Tonight is Family Fun Friday. Usually we talk about it as a family to decide what we want to do. But tonight Daddy has a surprise for us. I can't wait to see what we're going to do. Maybe the beach, or a movie, or dinner out somewhere?

Day 32

August 6, 2008

Dear Diary, Home sweet home! Since we were on our cruise and then in Missouri, I feel like I haven't been home much these last few weeks. I think Bailey got bigger while I was gone. And I missed my friend Austin. He's coming over today. It's kind of cool, his brother Jamison is the same age as my brother William. So Jamison and William play together while Austin and I hang out together. But sometimes we all play together in the pool or outside.

Day 31

August 3, 2008

Dear Diary, I love traveling to see new places and visit family. The only part that stinks is the flying. Well, actually the flying isn't so bad either. It's when your plane gets delayed and you have to sit around waiting and waiting in the airport. I guess there's bad weather in Dallas so we have to wait an extra 4 hours for our plane to get here. I told Momma I'm starting to get hungry, so I think we're going to go find a place to eat somewhere in the airport.

Day 30

July 30, 2008

Dear Diary, Even though it was nice having Grandma and Pop-pop all to myself, I'm glad William and Momma are here now. And I'm anxious to fly home in a few days to see Daddy too. He had to work, that's why he didn't come. At least he has our dog Bailey to keep him company. Bailey is such a sweet dog. I can't wait to cuddle with him.

Day 29

July 26, 2008

Dear Diary, Hurricane Dolly has gone away. It ended up being a lot of wind and rain by where we lived, but not so bad. Momma, Daddy and William are back home now, and our house wasn't damaged at all. And actually, now Momma and William are getting ready to come to Missouri to stay with Grandma and Pop-pop too. In a week we'll all fly back together.

Day 28

July 23, 2008

Dear Diary, I can't believe I'm not home in Corpus Christi right now! Momma and Daddy had to evacuate with William. Hurricane Dolly is coming somewhat close to Corpus Christi, so everybody on the island was evacuated to be safe. I know they're not in danger or anything, but I still feel like I should be there. They went away from the coast of Texas to San Antonio and are staying with some friends there. I hope our house will be okay.

Day 27

July 22, 2008

Dear Diary, I had a lot of fun at Lake of the Ozarks with my grandparents. We went to some state park with the funniest name. It's called Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Very silly name, but it was a fun place to have a picnic and go on hiking trails. I'm not a big fan of hiking, but Pop-pop made it fun. Then we went to some big waterpark. My favorite thing was the wave pool. We don't have waves like that in Texas! I think I could have stayed in the wave pool all day!

Day 26

July 18, 2008

Dear Diary, Tomorrow Grandma and Pop-pop are taking me to Lake of the Ozarks. I've never been there before, but supposedly there's alot to do there. You can ride go-karts, go shopping, and they have family fun parks too. Sounds like fun to me! We have to drive a little ways to get there, but that's okay. I think it will be worth it.

Day 25

July 15, 2008

Dear Diary, We made it to Missouri. It's kind of nice not having to share Grandma and Pop-pop with anyone else for a little while. My Grandma reads me stories every night. And Pop-pop plays lots of games and does puzzles with me. I have my own bedroom to sleep in here. It actually used to be my Momma's room when she was a little girl.

Day 24

July 11, 2008

Dear Diary, I feel kind of bad that I'm missing family fun friday tonight. But I'm on my way to Missouri with Grandma and Pop-pop. I packed my puzzle books, some school workbooks, and my portable game system. That is all the fun stuff I need. Momma packed all the rest. Can't wait to get to their house in Missouri!

Day 23

July 8, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm getting so excited for my big trip with Grandma and Pop-pop. I'm sure I'll miss Momma, Daddy and William. But I'll be having so much fun! They should be here tomorrow night.

Day 22

July 6, 2008

Dear Diary, My grandma and Pop-pop are coming from Missouri in a few days. They're going to stay with us for a few days. But the best part, is that when they drive home, I get to go with them! I'm going to stay with them for a whole week by myself. Then Momma and William will fly out and stay a week before we all fly home together.

Day 21

July 2, 2008

Dear Diary, We're going to the Stars and Stripes Parade on Friday. I like parades better than the fireworks. Fireworks are just way too loud. Even though I know they're going to make booming noises, I still jump. My brother William just laughs at me.

Day 20

June 29, 2008

Dear Diary, Momma and Daddy have decided that today we're going to work on getting our hurricane kit ready. Hurricane season started June 1st. No storms yet, but they say it's better to be safe than sorry. Not that we'll be sticking aorund here in a storm anyway. Daddy already said since we live on an island, if a storm comes, we're leaving. So off to the store we go for batteries, and canned food, and so on.

Day 19

June 28, 2008

Dear Diary, Last night for Family Fun Friday, we had a picnic dinner at the beach. The current was too strong for swimming, but we had fun anyway. We ate our pasta salad and then played frisbee and watched the sunset. Next time we go to the beach, I hope we can go kiteboarding in the bay.

Day 18

June 23, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm so happy we were back in time from our vacation so I could go to Austin's birthday party. I painted a ceramic mug for my desk. It's hot pink and lime green, and says "Kaitlyn" on the front. I'm going to use it for all my gel pens. After we painted our pieces we had pizza and cake.

Day 17

June 21, 2008

Dear Diary, Austin's party is today! We're going to a ceramic place that does parties. I love making my own creations. Then I can paint whatever color I want and everything. I think we are having pizza too. There should be a lot of kids there from school.

Day 16

June 18, 2008

Dear Diary, Can you be sad and happy at the same time? I'm sad that tomorrow is the last day of our cruise. But I'm also kind of happy to go home and see my friends. Especially since Austin's birthday party is in a few days. I wouldn't want to miss that!

Day 15

June 16, 2008

Dear Diary, Our ship is docked at a port in the Caribbean. I think Mom said it is Nassau. We've been doing so many fun things. I like swimming every day. And there is a kids' club too. We get to do cool things on the boat while Mom and Dad have grown up time, whatever that is. Anyways, William and I have been like friends since he hasn't been annoying me so much. That makes it more fun too!

Day 14

June 13, 2008

Dear Diary, Friday is usually our Family Fun Friday. I guess going on our vacation counts as fun! We didn't have to drive far, just to the port where the ship is waiting. Then we wait for all the other passengers to baord. Dad said our first stop is somewhere in Mexico. Better get going, I hear the ship horn blasting. I think we're leaving!

Day 13

June 10, 2008

Dear Diary, It's been kind of crazy around here lately. My dad has been moving the last of his stuff here. Then he and Mom have been working to start up Dad's new company. And now we're leaving this weekend for our cruise. Which means we've all been busy packing and getting ready to leave. Since I can't take my computer with me, Mom bought me books of puzzles and other games. That way William and I have something to do in our cabin. Of course, I'll bring my diary too!

Day 12

June 5, 2008

Dear Diary, I know it sounds strange, but my dad is moving back. See, my dad used to only be home for the weekends. And every Monday morning he would drive to San Antonio to work. Then every Thursday night he would come back home. Now that he's starting his own company, he'll be home all the time! Mom is really happy about it too!

Day 11

June 1, 2008

Dear Diary, My family went to see the USS Lexington today. It's some old aircraft carrier that's been turned into a museum. I don't really like boats, but my dad and William really wanted to see it. It wasn't so bad I guess. The bay looked really neat from the deck.

Day 10

May 30, 2008

Dear Diary, It's Friday! And that means family fun Friday! We're going to have fondue dinner in our own house. It's fun cooking your own dinner right at the table. I love the cheese fondue best. You can dip apples and bread in the melted cheese. My brother William likes the dessert best, dipping fruit into melted chocolate. At least the air conditioner is fixed, so now it won't be hot when we do it!

Day 9

May 27, 2008

Dear Diary, It's been so hot in our house the last few days. Our air conditioner broke, and Dad's been trying to find someone to put in a new one. I hate sleeping at night with that big portable fan in my room. It's noisey like an airplane! But if I turn it off, then I'm roasting. Mom says only a few more days. I hope so, or else I'm going to stay at my aunt and uncle's house.

Day 8

May 23, 2008

Dear Diary, I can't believe my brother is going to be starting kindergarten at my school next year! Tonight is the school orientation my parents are going to with William. So I get to stay for dinner at my friend Austin's house. That sounds like more fun anyway! We're going to ride our scooters outside up and down the big hill on his block. I'm pretty fast!

Day 7

May 21, 2008

Dear Diary, My parents just told us that we're going on vacation this summer! Right after school gets out. We're going on a cruise. Not sure where we're taking the boat to, but it sounds like fun! I wish the end of school would hurry up and get here!

Day 6

May 18, 2008

Dear Diary, I feel bored today. My brother William went with our dad to a car show. Momma and I stayed home. So here I am. Even my dog Bailey looks bored. He's just laying around and doesn't even want to play fetch. Oh well!

Day 5

May 16, 2008

Dear Diary, I love Fridays! After Daddy gets home from work we get to have Family Fun Friday. Every Friday night we do something fun as a family. Sometimes we go out for dinner or play boardgames. And other times we watch a movie and eat lots of popcorn. I wonder what we'll do tonight!

Day 4

May 13, 2008

Dear Diary, When I get done with my homework, I like to play on my computer. There are so many cool games. Some even have puzzles! But my mom has a rule about the computer. She sets the timer for 30 minutes. When it goes off my computer time is up for the day. That's okay though because then I can play outside with my friends.

Day 3

May 11, 2008

Dear Diary, Today is Mother's Day! I want to make Momma a special cake. She loves chocolate, and Daddy says he'll help me make it. I'm going to put extra frosting on the top and write "I love you Momma". She'll be so surprised!

Day 2

May 8, 2008

Dear Diary, Today we went to the park. I didn't really want to play on the playground. So I climbed up a big tree with some of my friends. We were up really really high! We had so much fun!! I hope we get to go again soon. Momma says maybe this weekend. I hope so!

Day 1

May 7, 2008

Dear Diary, My Grandma came to visit for my birthday and guess what she gave me? A diary, just for me! Now if I can just hide it from my little brother. He's always playing in my room when I'm at school. Maybe under my bed is a good hiding spot. Bailey is barking for me to play with him, be back soon!
