Faith's Diary
Day 161
March 19, 2010
Dear Diary, You wanna know how I find new music I like? I just listen for songs on the radio and then Google the group to see if I like their other songs. My brother can download the songs for me. I'm not allowed to do it by myself yet. He loves to hold that over my head too.
Day 160
March 15, 2010
Dear Diary, I had to get a new diary. I accidentally left mine outside, and then it rained. By the time I found it, the pages were all gross. I like this one better. It's neon green, and it has a lock on it. I just have to find a spot to hide the key.
Day 159
March 6, 2010
Dear Diary, I guess my mom had another idea about improving my reading. She bought me these new books, and now I have to read before I'm allowed to go outside and play every day. I already read before bed, but Mom thinks I need to do more. My mom and her ideas-
Day 158
March 1, 2010
Dear Diary, We got our report cards Friday. I did pretty good in everything except reading. I try really hard, but unless we're reading something I like, it's hard for me to pay attention. This time I got a "C". That's my first one this school year. My parents weren't happy, but made me promise to do better. I'll try.
Day 157
February 23, 2010
Dear Diary, Sometimes the kids who eat lunch with my friends and me really annoy me. This one kid kept touching my food. Why? I have no idea. You just don't do stuff like that, it's gross.
Day 156
February 21, 2010
Dear Diary, Our class is selling doughnuts in school to raise money for our fieldtrip. It's my turn to go into school early tomorrow to sell them before school starts, and then we sell them after school too. I don't usually eat doughnuts, but these are pretty good. Wish me luck!
Day 155
February 16, 2010
Dear Diary, My room looks killer now that it's all painted! I love it! I want to put some posters or something on the walls still, but I love the new blue color. Well, Uncle Josh is coming over for dinner, so I better get my homework done first so I can see him.
Day 154
February 7, 2010
Dear Diary, Well, we FINALLY got all the border paper down. And, we went to the store and my mom actually let me pick out the color for the walls. She didn't like the first green color I picked out, but she loved the second color I picked. It's this really cool blue color. She said she'll paint it while I'm in school this week.
Day 153
February 3, 2010
Dear Diary, I hate wallpaper, border paper, and anything else that you stick to walls! My mom asked me to help her take the border paper down in my room so she can repaint my walls. I didn't think it would be that hard, but it's almost impossible! We're taking a break right now, but we're going to do more after dinner-lucky me!
Day 152
January 31, 2010
Dear Diary, I love having Mrs. Musselman as a teacher, but I've had her for 2 years in a row now, and I'm kind of happy that next year I'll have someone new. She won't be looping with us again for next year. I know next year is pretty far away, but I've already been thinking about it.
Day 151
January 23, 2010
Dear Diary, I wish we could go over to the beach for a couple days, but my mom says she has to work a lot of weekends right now at the hospital. Maybe next month. Since Mom's gone to work already, my dad is thinking we can go for a bike ride on the trails or something. It is pretty warm, so that might be fun.
Day 150
January 15, 2010
Dear Diary, I just heard the funniest thing! I walked by the bathroom and could hear my brother Ben singing in the shower. I actually stood outside the door so I could hear him. It sounded worse than a dog howling! Now I have something I can hold over his head, right?
Day 149
January 11, 2010
Dear Diary, We had an achievement thing at school today, and guess what? I got Student of the Month! I was really surprised. I mean, I'm a good student and all, but I had no idea. I got a certificate and giftcard for the movies. Cool! My mom was really happy-
Day 148
January 6, 2010
Dear Diary, I'm freezing! I somehow forgot my jacket at school today. I guess I was too busy talking to Megan, and then we got in her mom's car. Well, now I'm cold! I hope I have another jacket I can wear for tomorrow. Sometimes I just forget things-
Day 147
January 3, 2010
Dear Diary, My best friend Megan just called to ask me if I was going to Emma's birthday party. I told her no because I guess I wasn't invited. Emma and I have known each other since kindergarten, but I guess we're not as close as we used to be. I kind of understand why she would invite Megan and some other kids she's better friends with, but I kind of feel bad that I wasn't invited. Know what I mean?
Day 146
December 26, 2009
Dear Diary, Happy Boxing Day! Isn't that a strange name for a holiday? It says so on the calendar. Dad says it means a day of goodwill. I guess that means being kind to other people. Does that include my brother?
Day 145
December 22, 2009
Dear Diary, There was a bell ringer at the grocery store. I asked my mom what the man was doing, and she said collecting money to help needy families. Next time we go, I want to bring some of the money from my piggybank. That seems like a good idea.
Day 144
December 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I don't like to watch a ton of tv, but it's really annoying that our cable isn't working right now. You can see the show, but there's no sound. Mom said they're supposed to come fix it Friday. Great, 2 more days of trying to guess what the people are saying. Oh well!
Day 143
December 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Yesterday my parents took Megan and me to the mall. They wanted to go into one store, and we wanted to look in different stores, so they actually let us meet them after an hour. But first they gave me this big lecture about not going anywhere with strangers, even if they said they knew my parents. I've heard all the stranger danger talks before, but my parents always remind me.
Day 142
December 7, 2009
Dear Diary, I love hot chocolate. I hate when the little marshmallows melt, but I still like the way it tastes. We had some really yummy hot chocolate on vacation after playing in the snow. I wonder if Mom has any in the pantry. I think I'll check-
Day 141
December 2, 2009
Dear Diary, My brother Ben can be so annoying sometimes. He thinks just because he's older means he knows more than me. He wanted me to play this new game he just got for the Xbox, but when I wanted to play, he said I didn't know how, and that I should just watch him play. Umm, hello? How am I going to learn to play without doing it myself?
Day 140
November 28, 2009
Dear Diary, That was absolutely the best Thanksgiving ever! I wish we could go on vacation every year like that! We did hiking, and lots of snow tubing. It was really cool. And we even got to go horseback riding. Ben was actually scared of his horse, but not me, it was awesome!
Day 139
November 24, 2009
Dear Diary, I tried to write in the car yesterday when we were driving to North Carolina, but it made me feel sick to write in a moving car. So, here I am. No new snow yet, but Dad said we can still go tubing. They have madmade snow. Isn't that awesome? Gotta run!
Day 138
November 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I had a really weird dream last night about skateboarding. I was skating on my driveway and using my ramp, when all of a sudden, I realized that me feet were glued to my skateboard. I couldn't stop and it felt like I was going to crash since I couldn't stop myself. Then I woke up. Isn't that strange?
Day 137
November 17, 2009
Dear Diary, We leave next week for North Carolina! I am so excited to go snow tubing! Mom is all talking about going shopping at the outlet mall, but I could care less. Hopefully I can go hiking or tubing with Dad and Ben instead.
Day 136
November 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I have to go with my mom tonight to some baby shower for a friend of her's. Boring! I guess all the other moms are bringing their kids too. Just please tell me we won't have to play any boring games and I guess I'll be alright. I hope there's some fun kids to play with.
Day 135
November 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Mrs. Musselman kept telling me to sit down in class today. I couldn't help it, it just seems easier to stand up and do my work at my desk than it is to sit. Have you ever had that feeling, like you just can't sit down? I have it a lot!
Day 134
October 28, 2009
Dear Diary, Uncle Josh is coming over tonight to hang out. Mom and Dad have some work party at the hospital. I hope he brings his cool medical school books with him. They have really neat pictures of skeletons and other stuff. Gotta go, Mom wants me to take my shower.
Day 133
October 23, 2009
Dear Diary, The kid down the street just got this really cool new ramp. It's way higher than mine. We were flying off it with our bikes. Next time I think I want to try my skateboard. Cool!
Day 132
October 20, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom says I must be in a growth spurt. I am hungry all the time lately. I hope that doesn't mean that I'll wake up and overnight grow like a giant or something! It would be nice to be a little bit taller though. I'm one of the shortest girls in my class.
Day 131
October 14, 2009
Dear Diary, I really like having Mrs. Musselman again this year. I already know her rules, and how she does things. It makes it much easier. The work is a little harder, but not so bad. I know I won't have her next year, since teachers only loop two years, but that's a ways away, so I'm not going to think about it yet.
Day 130
October 10, 2009
Dear Diary, We're going to Finlay Park tomorrow. It's so pretty there with the waterfalls and everything. I want to bring my bike and ride around a bit. Maybe Ben will too.
Day 129
October 3, 2009
Dear Diary, We went out to dinner tonight with Uncle Josh. I love him, but he hogged all the fried onion. Next time, Dad says we'll order two. Other than that there really isn't much going on. I was thinking about calling Megan to see if she wants to take her dog Sugar for a walk. Sugar isn't so little anymore, but she's so much fun to play with. I think I better call her before it gets too late.
Day 128
September 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I just realized that it's almost October, not November! I was getting all excited about our vacation since my mom just told us, and didn't realize it's still so far away! Well, at least it's something to look forward to. See ya, I'm going to go ride my bike before it gets too dark-
Day 127
September 25, 2009
Dear Diary, I am so so so excited! I just found out we're going on vacation the week of Thanksgiving. We're not going very far, just to Banner Elk, North Carolina. We have no school the whole week, so it should be a lot of fun. I hope it snows, but if it does, it probably won't be much. Still, it would be fun!
Day 126
September 23, 2009
Dear Diary, I think yesterday was the first day of fall. I think this is the best time of year, especially since I like to be outside all the time. Pretty soon we can rake up all the leaves into a big pile and jump into them with our bikes after flying off the ramp. What fun!
Day 125
September 14, 2009
Dear Diary, We went out for icecream tonight, and I got the garbage pail sundae. It sounds gross, but it has crushed up Oreo cookies and gummy worms on top. I love them! Ben didn't want to come with us because he said it would be boring. Icecream is boring? Whatever.
Day 124
September 9, 2009
Dear Diary, We are one of the last classes to have lunch. It's not until like 1:00, and by then I'm starving! Mom says I just need to eat a bigger breakfast. I do eat breakfast, but I'm not THAT hungry in the morning. I guess I'll get used to the later lunch time, eventually.
Day 123
September 4, 2009
Dear Diary, School starts on Tuesday. It's so cool that I already know my teacher, since Mrs. Musselman is looping with us for this year. Two years in a row with a teacher I like! Gotta go, we're going to the store to buy mulch and plants for the yard. Guess I know what we're doing this weekend-
Day 122
August 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Why is it that it starts thundering as soon as I'm ready to go play outside? It hasn't rained all day, but now that I put my shoes on, I can't even go out to play. My parents are cool about letting me play in the rain, but only if there's no thunder or lightning. Hopefully it will be done soon, I'm bored!
Day 121
August 26, 2009
Dear Diary, I heard a funny joke from Ben. It goes,
Q: What kind of car does Luke Skywalker drive?
A: a Toy-yoda.
Get it? Yoda? I'm not a big Star Wars person, but I still thought it was funny.
Day 120
August 17, 2009
Dear Diary, Uggh! I was waiting all morning for Megan to call so she could come over to play. I didn't know that my dad had switched over our phone to the fax machine, so we weren't getting any calls, and I couldn't get our phone to work. We finally figured it out, and Megan is coming over this afternoon.
Day 119
August 10, 2009
Dear Diary, I saw Mrs. Musselman working at the home improvement store this morning. I guess it's her summer job. I asked her about being in her class again next year, and it's true! I love Mrs. Musselman, so that's awesome news. Can you believe that school is almost here already?
Day 118
August 5, 2009
Dear Diary, We had so much fun kayaking! We saw a couple of dolphins in the sound. They were jumping in front of our kayaks. Ben was trying to be funny and making dolphin noises to try to get them to swim closer. I think his dolphin noises scared them away! But we had a lot of fun. Time to get dressed for dinner-
Day 117
August 2, 2009
Dear Diary, Yipee! We're going to the beach tomorrow! We haven't been to Hilton Head in like forever. I'm so ready to be there, 4 whole days of swimming and relaxing in the sun. Sounds perfect!
Day 116
July 28, 2009
Dear Diary, The skatepark was a total blast! I didn't skate very much since it was so crowded, but it was just as much fun to watch everyone on the pro course. They were doing all kinds of tricks like 360 flips, and making it look easy! They must skate every day to get that good-
Day 115
July 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Uncle Josh and I are going to the skatepark. I had a hard time deciding to bring my rollerblades or my skateboard, but I'm going to bring my skateboard. There are a couple different courses there for beginners and for pros. I'm still a beginner, but I can't wait to see some of the tricks the pros can do.
Day 114
July 21, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so happy! We got a letter in the mail today about next school year. It said that the principal has decided that the intermediate teachers are all going to loop for next year. That means that Miss Musselman will be moving up with our class for next year! I won't have to miss her after all. Yeah!
Day 113
July 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Megan's party was so, so, so much fun! It was all the girls we're friends with at school. We ate hotdogs and chips and laughed so hard! Megan loved the art set I picked out for her too. I'm glad!
Day 112
July 7, 2009
Dear Diary, Megan's birthday party is Saturday! I already know what I'm going to get her. Megan loves to draw and paint, so we're going to get her an art set. I think she'll really like that. Hopefully nobody else will take my idea!
Day 111
July 2, 2009
Dear Diary, Today was family work in the yard day. Not very fun if you ask me. At least my parents don't make us do it all the time, just every now and then. Ben and I had to weed the whole front yard while my parents trimmed the trees. At least we were out there together, then it's not so boring.
Day 110
June 28, 2009
Dear Diary, Ben keeps blaring his music so loud in his room that my walls are vibrating! It's not that I don't like the music, it's just way too loud. He doesn't do it when my parents are home, only when they're gone. I won't tell on him, I'll just go outside. Brothers!
Day 109
June 26, 2009
Dear Diary, I saw my teacher Mrs. Musselman today working at the home improvement store. She's not my teacher now, but she was. She helped us pick out some plants for our backyard. It was kind of weird seeing her there and not in school. I'm going to miss not having her as a teacher next year, but she said I can still visit her in her classroom.
Day 108
June 17, 2009
Dear Diary, My best friend Megan is planning her birthday party. It's in July. I'm just glad we'll be home and not on vacation on the 11th. I'd hate to miss it. She said her invitations are really cool, that they look like movie tickets. Time for dinner-
Day 107
June 12, 2009
Dear Diary, It won't stop raining! I was outside riding my bike and all of a sudden it got really dark and windy. Before I could even get back to my house it started pouring! The trees were bending and it was really loud. Dad said we're under a tornado warning. Well, I still wish it would hurry up so I can go back outside to play-
Day 106
June 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm not usually a big tv watcher, but sometimes I like to watch tv. Lately, Dad has been on my case about certain shows I want to watch. He says I'm not old enough to watch everything I want. Then why are those shows on kid channels? It doesn't make any sense. I can't wait till I'm old enough to just watch whatever I want whenever I want.
Day 105
June 6, 2009
Dear Diary, My parents are planning a vacation for us for summer. We had talked about going to Tennessee, but I think they've decided we'll just go to the beach for a week. We'll probably rent a small house there and just hang out on the beach. I really wanted to go to Tennessee, but I'm thinking that's not going to happen now. It's not so bad going to the beach. I love the big waves!
Day 104
May 25, 2009
Dear Diary, My wrist really doesn't hurt now at all, but I have a wicked bruise on my wrist. It's all kinds of purple and blue. Maybe I'm just lucky I drink lots of milk. Dad's always saying that milk makes your bones stronger. Time for bed-
Day 103
May 22, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom cracks me up sometimes. I was climbing the big tree in our front yard, and I fell. I was a little surprised I slipped, but it happens. When I fell I landed right on my wrist. It hurt a little bit, but I can still move it, so it's not broken. Mom came running over to see if I was okay and sounded all worried. Once she saw I was okay she started yelling at me about being careful, and not climbing too high. I love my mom-
Day 102
May 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I hate when you lose something outside in the yard because you know you'll probably never see it again. That is, unless Dad finds it with the lawnmower, and then it's sucked up anyway. I can't find my lucky coin, and I know it was in my pocket when I went outside to play. It could be anywhere by now. Maybe I should go look one more time.
Day 101
May 11, 2009
Dear Diary, Uncle Josh is out of the hospital now and feeling much better. He can't run all around and play basketball and skateboard yet. Yesterday he came over for dinner and we watched some of the basketball playoffs. I'm not even rooting for any special team, but it's still fun to watch sometimes, especially with Uncle Josh-
Day 100
May 4, 2009
Dear Diary, We had to go to the hospital last night to visit Uncle Josh. Usually he works in the hospital, but this time he's a patient. I guess he wasn't feeling so good after playing basketball all afternoon, something with his heart. It kind of scared me, but Mom and Dad said he'll be alright, he just has to take it easy for a little while.
Day 99
May 2, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so bored! It's raining outside and I really wanted to go ride my bike. Just sitting here doing nothing is no fun. I wish it would rain when I'm in school instead! Maybe I'll see if Ben wants to play a boardgame or something.
Day 98
April 27, 2009
Dear Diary, Watch out! My brother Ben is learning to drive! He isn't old enough to drive by himself, but he can drive with my parents. It looks really weird seeing him drive a car. I don't think I'll be riding with him until he gets a little more practice, thank you very much!
Day 97
April 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Ben and I are already begging our parents to take us back to Carawinds this summer. They didn't say no, but they didn't say yes. And Uncle Josh says if we go again then he's coming with us. That would be so awesome! We had the best time there!
Day 96
April 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I think I was worried about wild bears for nothing. It's camping, but not really in the wild or anything, but we're still having fun! I think my favorite ride so far is the Rip Roarin' Rapids. It makes you feel like you're white water rafting! So awesome!
Day 95
April 14, 2009
Dear Diary, We're finally one our way! I think Dad's getting a little annoyed that I keep asking, "are we there yet?", "are we there yet?" I can't help it! I cannot wait to go camping, I've never been before. I hope there aren't wild bears waiting to eat all our food!
Day 94
April 9, 2009
Dear Diary, We leave next week to go camping at Carowinds. I've never been camping before, so it should be fun. And, we get to go to the amusement park both days we're there! Ben and I always want to go on the rollercoasters. Mom and Dad usually just watch us and laugh.
Day 93
April 2, 2009
Dear Diary, I haven't been able to use the computer this whole week. It's not that I'm some computer junkie or anything, but just knowing I couldn't use it was really annoying. Our monitor wasn't working, so we had to wait for my dad to go get a new one. Now we have this widescreen one that makes my eyes hurt because everything is stretched out sideways, how weird!
Day 92
March 27, 2009
Dear Diary, Megan and I were playing with her puppy Sugar after school. Sugar isn't so little anymore, he's getting so big! I still wish we had a dog, but that'll probably never happen. At least I can play with Megan's dog. Mom's calling me for dinner, got to go-
Day 91
March 24, 2009
Dear Diary, I have this enormous scrape on my knee. I did it when I fell last week skating, but now I keep making it worse. Everytime I bang into something or fall down again it starts bleeding all over again. I don't think it'll ever get better, and I'm tired of all the band-aids. Uncle Josh says it's no big deal, that scrapes and scars just mean you're active. Speaking of which, I'm going to go ride my bike. Hopefully I won't bang into anything!
Day 90
March 14, 2009
Dear Diary, My dad is already gone to work for the day. He doesn't usually work weekends, but lately he has been trying to make extra money. Kinda makes me sad because I like hanging out with everybody on the weekend. Mom says that tomorrow we can grill outside and maybe even do smores. It's raining today anyway. I hope it doesn't tomorrow-
Day 89
March 10, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom is all on my case because I didn't bring home any homework. It's not my fault. Mrs. Musselman didn't give us any. Mom thinks I should have asked my teacher where the homework was. No way! If your teacher doesn't give you homework it's like a holiday!
Day 88
March 3, 2009
Dear Diary, Well, we were supposed to have school on Monday, but then they cancelled it because of the snow storm. You know how much snow we got? None! I guess all the parents were upset because a lot of people stayed home from work to take care of their kids since it was a snow day. Uncle Josh ended up staying the night when he came Sunday night to be there with Ben and me while my parents were at work.
Day 87
March 1, 2009
Dear Diary, Uncle Josh came over to hang out tonight. We played Uno, the card game. It's kind of like Crazy Eight's, only there's more wild cards like reverses and skip cards. I love when someone thinks they're going to go out and win, and then bam! You hit them with a draw four card. That's always fun!
Day 86
February 27, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and Dad listened to us about our ideas for helping the family save some money. They liked our ideas so much they decided to do all of them! No more video rentals, no more premier cable channels. Oh, and also everybody has to brown bag their lunches for school and work from now on. I guess it's okay if it's going to help our family. It could be worse-
Day 85
February 23, 2009
Dear Diary, School has been so busy that I just realized I didn't even have a chance to tell you how our family meeting went. I like that my parents include us on decisions. We had to vote on what things we wanted to cutback on. I voted to get rid of our video rental service. My brother Ben didn't like that, but he said he'd be willing to cut out the premier channels on our cable. Needless to say we're meeting again this week to finish discussing everything.
Day 84
February 15, 2009
Dear Diary, Tonight we're having a family meeting. Mom said we need to talk about the family budget. I guess my dad's hours have been cutback at the power company. We'll see how that goes. Not sure how much I can contribute to the talk since I don't even have a job.
Day 83
February 12, 2009
Dear Diary, School was fun today. Since it's Abraham Lincoln's birthday we talked all about him. Then we watched a video about the Civil War, it was pretty neat. I don't know why I'm so interested in the Civil War, I always have been. Maybe it's because we live near so many historical places, like Charleston.
Day 82
February 6, 2009
Dear Diary, Wow! It's only been a few days and I already have almost $200 collected for our fundraiser. We have to turn in the forms on Monday, so hopefully I'll reach my goal before then. Uncle Josh gave $40! Even my brother Ben said he'd give a donation. If the weather is better tomorrow I'll go to the neighbors' houses. Mom said she'd walk me around.
Day 81
February 2, 2009
Dear Diary, Our school is doing a Jumprope for Heart fundraiser. Last year I collected $350. This year I think my goal is going to be $500. Whichever class brings in the most donations gets a pizza party. Better get started. Mom said I could send an email out to all our family and friends first.
Day 80
January 25, 2009
Dear Diary, I am so anxious for April to get here. Every year my family goes camping at Carowinds Wilderness Park, and then we get to go to the amusement park all weekend. It's in Charlotte, which really isn't that far away. Spring hury up and get here! I am the queen of the rollercoaster!
Day 79
January 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Okay our new ramp is cool, but I need to watch my dare devil stunts. I tried to use it with my roller skates, and it didn't work so good. I lost my balance and kind of went over the side and landed hard on the cement. When I went in for a bandaid my mom just shook her head at me. Of course, I went right back out and used my bike instead!
Day 78
January 16, 2009
Dear Diary, Uncle Josh was teaching me how to use this new ramp we got. It can be used for bikes or skateboards. It rocks! I think my mom is a little nervous about one of us getting hurt, but she didn't say anything, she just watched. It's so cool!
Day 77
January 12, 2009
Dear Diary, Ben can be so obnoxious sometimes. I don't know why he enjoys pestering me so much. Usually we get along pretty well, but every once in awhile we get on each other's nerves. Kind of like he's getting on mine right now. Every time I try talking he interrupts me and cuts me off. It doesn't matter who I'm talking to either. Maybe he's just bored. Brothers!
Day 76
January 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Megan's dad drove us to school this morning since it was raining. But when I got out of the car in carline, I must have accidentally stepped in a big puddle because my shoes were soaked. All you could hear when I walked into our class was my shoes squishing on the floor. I swear my feet were wet the whole day!
Day 75
January 2, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so ready for school to start again just so I have something else to do. Megan and I went to the mall with our moms yesterday, but shopping really isn't exciting for me. I liked the place we ate lunch at, but not the shopping. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm really bored. Hopefully Monday will get here fast.
Day 74
December 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad has already been in my room to ask me to turn my music down at least three times since I came in here. It really doesn't seem that loud to me. But I swear if I turn it down anymore, I won't be able to hear it at all. Besides, you know I have to sing along with my favorite songs, so I need it a little louder to hear them sing too.
Day 73
December 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Amazingly, my mom doesn't have to work today, and Dad is off too. We've all decided to stay in our pajamas for the rest of the day. Ben is in the kitchen popping popcorn, and we're going to sit on the couch and watch movies today. Not something we get to do very often, but it sounded fun! Now, if we can just agree on what to watch!
Day 72
December 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Our class went caroling this morning at a nursing home near our school. It was a little odd at first singing for people we don't really know, but then we got used to it. Even the residents were singing along with us. I think they really liked it. I'm not some superstar singer, but I think I sounded pretty good. Better than whoever that was standing right behind me!
Day 71
December 16, 2008
Dear Diary, I ate so many gummy bears I think I might get sick. They tasted so good though, I just couldn't stop! I don't usually eat a lot of sweets, but gummy bears are one candy I love. Next time I better not eat the whole bag at once!
Day 70
December 11, 2008
Dear Diary, Ahhhhhh...my eye is feeling much better now! Kind of stinks when you can't ride your bike or roller skate because you can't see. Megan is coming over for dinner, but before we eat, we're going to rider our bikes. Yes, it's cold out, but it's not so bad if you wear a warm jacket. Besides, we always drink hot chocolate after riding bikes in the cold, that helps!
Day 69
December 3, 2008
Dear Diary, I had to go to the doctor. My eye has been really red and itchy. Then this morning when I woke up it was all puffy and everything looked blurry. Turns out I have an eye infection. Not sure how I got it, but at least the medicine the doctor gave me should make it go away. Unfortunately, the eye drops burn when you put them in. Mom does it for me. At least it's only for a week, right?
Day 68
November 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Uncle Josh took Ben and me to a fun center yesterday. I think the go carts were my favorite. The video games were okay, that's Ben's favorite thing. I guess I'd rather be doing something, you know, moving, than just sitting there. I sometimes have a really hard time sitting still, like in school, or a restaurant. I just don't want to stay in one spot.
Day 67
November 13, 2008
Dear Diary, I went over to Megan's house today so we could play with her puppy Sugar. Sometimes I wish we had a puppy, or a cat, or something. We have no pets at all! Whenever I ask Mom and Dad they just say "no way!" I would take care of a pet if we had one. I'd walk it and feed it and everything.
Day 66
November 10, 2008
Dear Diary, I was right about dinner the other night. We went out to some Chinese buffet restaurant. It was okay, but I mostly ate the egg rolls and a bunch of fortune cookies. I may be fearless about sports and playing, but not when it comes to food I guess.
Day 65
November 8, 2008
Dear Diary, Today is my cousin Savannah's tenth birthday. We're going over to their place to hang out for a while, and then we're all going out to dinner. We got her a gift card to the mall since her favorite thing to do is shop for clothes. I'm wondering where we're going to dinner. Our family likes to go out for hamburgers and steak. Their family likes to eat sushi and Chinese food, so we'll see.
Day 64
November 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Now that Halloween is over I don't have anything exciting to write about. Nothing big is going on at school. Same old stuff at home. Maybe tomorrow will be a more exciting day, you never know.
Day 63
November 1, 2008
Dear Diary, Last night was a lot of fun, but I felt bad for Uncle Josh. His contacts were bothering his eyes, so right before we went out trick or treating, he put some eyedrops my dad uses in his eyes. Well, after about ten minutes, Uncle Josh's eyes were all red and puffy and looked all weird. He must have been allergic to something in the drops. He just told everybody it was part of his costume-he was dressed up like a pirate. Not sure what red, puffy eyes have to do with being a pirate, but nobody questioned it.
Day 62
October 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Yeah! Tomorrow is Halloween, and Uncle Josh is coming over like he does every year to go trick or treating with us. Every year he wears a costume. I keep waiting for him to say he's too old to dress up, but every year he comes over all dressed up. It's fun! Megan is coming over too with her puppy Sugar. She said she has a costume for Sugar too. I wonder what it will be? A cat?
Day 61
October 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Kids can be so rude sometimes. When Mom came to my class today for Career Day, some kids were asking her gross questions about the surgeries. I thought she handled it really well though. She didn't act mad or anything. Maybe next year I should ask my dad to do Career Day instead. What can you say gross about a power company?
Day 60
October 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Monday is career day. My mom is going to come to my school to talk to classes about being a surgical nurse. I just hope kids are nice to her. I think it's awesome that my mom is a nurse and gets to help save people's lives and make them feel better. I'm not saying I want to be a nurse, but it's cool that she is.
Day 59
October 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I can't believe my brother is almost 15, and that he'll be able to start driving soon! He won't be old enough to drive by himself, only with Mom or Dad in the car. That's going to be strange. Ben's birthday is next week, and he said he doesn't even care about a party, all he wants to do is get his learner's permit. But, he has to pass the written test first.
Day 58
October 21, 2008
Dear Diary, I love Tuesdays at school because we get to eat lunch outside. Usually we eat at the picnic tables outside the cafeteria. As long as it's not too hot or cold, it's fun. Much better than being in the boring old cafeteria. Mrs. Musselman even eats with us out there. She's a really cool teacher.
Day 57
October 16, 2008
Dear Diary, My friend Megan got a new puppy. He's a cute little collie named Sugar. Kind of a strange name for a dog, but Megan picked it. If you lay down on the ground, Sugar will lick all over your face! Sometimes I wish we had a dog, but Mom and Dad always say no because Ben is allergic to dogs.
Day 56
October 12, 2008
Dear Diary, Lately Ben has started listening to some rock music. The thing that's annoying is when I can hear it through my bedroom wall. Usually Mom yells for him to turn it down. Hello?!?!?! It makes it hard for me to even listen to my own music in my room! Right now I feel like I can't even hear myself think-
Day 55
October 9, 2008
Dear Diary, I was surprised to come home and see Uncle Josh was here. He said his classes were done early, so he thought he would come over. I bet he wanted to have dinner. Dad says Uncle Josh always finds a reason to visit near dinner time. After dinner we went outside and I showed my uncle some of the skateboard moves I've been practicing. I think he was impressed.
Day 54
October 4, 2008
Dear Diary, I got a letter today. The charity that I sent half of the money I found actually wrote me back. They said how much they appreciated my donation, and that made me feel really good! I'm thinking about doing that now with all the money I get from allowance, birthdays, etc. I can keep some of it for myself and donate the rest. I like that idea.
Day 53
October 1, 2008
Dear Diary, Ben is driving me nuts, or at least his stuffy nose is. He refuses to use a tissue and blow his nose, so all afternoon I've been listening to him sniffling again and again. It's kind of annoying. I tried telling him it would be easier to blow his nose, but you can't tell a big brother anything, can you?
Day 52
September 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I had a dream last night that we went on a safari for vacation. We were in Africa and you could almost walk right up to the animals. It was really amazing! Then of course as soon as we got near the lions, I woke up. I wish my family could go on a real safari, but I don't think that would happen. Mom doesn't like the wilderness.
Day 51
September 26, 2008
Dear Diary, Friday! I love Fridays because that means I have the whole weekend to be outside riding my bike and skating. Megan's company is gone now, so she's coming over tomorrow to stay the night. I can't wait, we're going to have so much fun! Megan doesn't skateboard, but she loves to rollerblade.
Day 50
September 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I got back my vocabulary test today and I got an 'A'. I only missed one on the whole test! Now it's time to start on this week's list of words. Tonight I have to write sentences for each vocabulary word. It shouldn't be too bad, but I may need some help for the word 'incomplete'. Off to do homework I go!
Day 49
September 20, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm bored. I thought Megan was going to come over today to rollerblade, but she can't. She has family in town this weekend. I could go rollerblading by myself, but it's always more fun with a friend. If Uncle Josh was here I bet he'd go with me. Maybe I'll go see if any of the other kids on my street want to skate.
Day 48
September 18, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, why did I miss Ben again last weekend? Sometimes I wish I had a sister instead. Usually he's pretty cool and we can do stuff together. But sometimes I want to look at him and say "huh?" Ben thought it would be funny to put cicada skins on my bed, spelling out my name. Except he must have run out of the insects, because it only spelled "Fait". What a goober!
Day 47
September 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom really surprised me today. She was supposed to work. I was disappointed she wasn't going to come biking with Dad and me, but I know she has an odd work schedule. Hospitals never close. Anyways, Mom switched with another nurse she works with and so she came with us! It felt different not having Ben there but the three of us had a lot of fun on a new trail we'd never ridden before. It was a great day!
Day 46
September 12, 2008
Dear Diary, Ben is going camping for the weekend with his best friend's family. It's going to be so quiet around here. Dad said maybe we can find a new trail to go biking on. That would be cool! I wonder if my mom will come too...
Day 45
September 8, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm glad this weekend is over. It seems like all it did was rain all weekend from that tropical storm in the Atlantic. Not much fun when my favorite place to be is outside. Hopefully the field won't be too wet today at school so we can have p.e. outside. We've been learning to play soccer.
Day 44
September 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Now that school has started it feels like we were never on summer vacation. Sure the work is a little harder every year you get older, but really, it's the same routine. The only thing I wish they had in school is a class for skateboarding, or rollerblading, or maybe even bike riding. Guess not. Those are fun things I just get to do after school, and after all my homework!
Day 43
September 3, 2008
Dear Diary, I feel really bad for the people of Louisiana and all the trouble that hurricane has caused. I was thinking my dad might have to go down their with his team from the power company. Dad said that since he just got back from Florida that they're sending a different team. These hurricanes are crazy, and now there's one that might be headed our way named Hanna.
Day 42
August 30, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm sad to see Uncle Josh leave already, but I am so glad that Dad is back home. Uncle Josh said he'll try to come visit after class sometime next week. Uncle Josh taught me a couple cool new moves on my skateboard while he was here. He used to skate all the time when he was a kid. Now that Dad is home we can go back to our normal routine.
Day 41
August 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Uncle Josh rules! He makes the best grilled cheese sandwiches ever, and he loves to play video games with Ben and me. Mom says it's okay as long as we're not playing video games all day. That's fine with me since I like to be outside a lot. Uncle Josh is a college student. He is studying to be a pediatrician. I think he will make a great doctor someday since he loves being around kids.
Day 40
August 25, 2008
Dear Diary, My dad's team at the power company did end up getting called late last night. The tropical storm in Florida left a lot of people without power even though it wasn't an actual hurricane. So he's on his way to Florida to help get the power back on. He left before I even got up this morning. Mom said he shouldn't be gone more than a few days, but since she has to work, my Uncle Josh is on his way over to stay with Ben and me. I'm so excited! Did I mention that he is my favorite uncle?
Day 39
August 24, 2008
Dear Diary, How my brother can eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day is beyond me. I would think that would get boring. I like peanut butter and jelly too, but I also like turkey and ham, even salami. Dad says it's healthier for me to eat a variety of foods, so I don't eat the same things all the time. All this talk about sandwiches is making me hungry, it must be almost lunchtime.
Day 37
August 17, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and Dad are trying to figure out who can come stay with Ben and me. You see, my mom has to work all week. And now Dad just found out that he is on standby to go down to Florida. He works for the power company, and after Hurricane Fay makes landfall, they may send him down with a team to help out. I think that would be kind of exciting to see what happens after a storm, and to be a part of helping people who need it. Maybe Uncle Josh can come stay with us. That would be so awesome, he's my favorite uncle.
Day 36
August 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Ouch! Apparently I did not put on enough sunscreen at the spray park on Monday. My arms, legs, everything is dark red. That night I could hardly go to sleep I hurt so bad. Mom ended up rubbing aloe all over me while I just layed on my bed. That helped.
Day 35
August 11, 2008
Dear Diary, This afternoon we went to a sprayground park not too far away. Usually it's meant for little kids, but we didn't care. Megan and I were out there running around just like the little kids. Anything is worth trying to stay cool since it's so hot outside. I'll be happy when summer is over and it cools down a little bit. Hopefully I didn't get sunburned. My skin feels pretty warm right now.
Day 34
August 7, 2008
Dear Diary, When we went to the store I had a really hard time deciding what to spend my ten dollars on. Mom said the money must have been "burning a hole" in my pocket. I ended up buying this really cute Hello Kit stationary set they had. I love Hello Kitty!
Day 33
August 5, 2008
Dear Diary, I feel bad that someone lost their twenty dollars, but the store said no one claimed it. So now it's mine. I've decided to give half of it to charity since it wasn't really my money to begin with. But with the other ten dollars I'm going to buy something at the store.
Day 32
August 2, 2008
Dear Diary, I keep thinking about what I should do with the twenty dollars if I get to keep it. Twenty dollars is a lot of allowance money! I think I might spend it, but not sure on what yet. I could buy a new cd, or maybe some new wheels for my rollerblades. I just don't know.
Day 31
July 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I went to the store tonight with my dad. While we were there I found twenty dollars on the ground by the cashier. I asked if I could keep it, but Dad said I had to turn it in. At the customer service desk they said if no one claims it by the end of the week than it's mine. If I lost twenty dollars I would want it back.
Day 30
July 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Ben got his cast off today, and we went out to celebrate. We went out to some steak place where you can throw your peanut shells on the floor. Too bad we can't do that at home too. Ben is so happy his cast is off. He said his arm is a little itchy and it looks a little skinny, but he's better.
Day 29
July 21, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad hung a big tire swing from one of the big oak trees in our backyard. The rope is so long that you can swing really really high. Megan and I were out there taking turns swinging on it, trying to see who could swing the highest. I think I went higher.
Day 28
July 19, 2008
Dear Diary, I can hardly believe that summer is almost over! We only have a few more weeks until school starts again. At least then it'll be fall soon and it won't be so hot outside when I want to ride my bike or rollerskate. Ben gets his cast off soon and then he'll be back to riding on the trails with me. Megan and I ride the trails together sometimes, but she'd rather rollerskate.
Day 27
July 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad, Ben and I went last weekend to Fort Sumter. It was pretty neat even though it was really really hot outside. We even got to go on the ferry. Ben was most impressed by the cannons. I've always been kind of interested in Civil War history. Hopefully next time we come over to the beach Mom can come too.
Day 26
July 12, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom is on call again this weekend. And being on call means she always gets called to come work. Dad says this weekend he wants to take Ben and I to Fort Sumter in Charleston. We've never been before. It's a fort from the Civil War. Sounds like it might be kind of neat.
Day 25
July 8, 2008
Dear Diary, Someday when I grow up, I want to try out for one of those reality shows. You know, the one where they put a group of people on a deserted island. Then each week they have contests to see who stays and who goes home. I think I would be really good at that. I'm not really afraid of much. Even the bugs wouldn't bother me. Maybe someday.
Day 24
July 6, 2008
Dear Diary, I love when there's no school the next day! Today is Sunday, and instead of doing homework and going to be early, I get to sleepover at Megan's house. That's what's so great about summer. There's really no schedule to follow. I guess they figure kids need a break too.
Day 23
July 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Megan did come over yesterday to watch the fireworks with my family. We even baked chocolate chip cookies for everybody. They were a little melted because it was so hot outside, but they still tasted delicious. Dad and Ben put on quite a show with their fireworks. Ben had a little trouble with his cast getting in the way, but at least he wasn't whining about it.
Day 22
July 2, 2008
Dear Diary, Is there such a thing as too many fireworks? Dad and Ben have been out shopping, buying every kind of firework imaginable. Noisey ones that pop, noisey ones that crackle, and fireworks that whistle and make lots of colors. They do this every year. Mom and I just sit on the front lawn and watch the show they like put on. It really is fun. And usually the neighbors will come out and watch too. I'm going to ask if Megan can come over too.
Day 21
June 30, 2008
Dear Diary, My dad can be really cool sometimes. Like tonight, he took me out after dinner. Just Dad and me. He said since Ben broke his arm, he knows I've been doing my chores plus Ben's chores. And I think he also knows that Ben has been driving me a little nuts with all his whining. Anyways, we went to play put-put golf. Dad beat me, but it was still fun. I hit the ball right off the green and into the water at least three times!
Day 20
June 26, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, the first couple days I felt bad for Ben with his broken arm and all. He's already annoying me though. He just lays on the couch watching tv. And any time he needs anything he moans like he's trying to reach for it, and then asks for help. Mom says I need to be nice to Ben since he's hurt. He's really pushing it though.
Day 19
June 23, 2008
Dear Diary, My poor brother! The sun finally came out yesterday and I couldn't wait to go skating. Ben and I were racing down the hill when he lost his balance. He crashed onto the edge of the sidewalk. I knew he wasn't faking it, because he was screaming so loud. A trip to the doctor, and now he has a cast on his arm. No skating for Ben for a while I guess. I feel bad for him.
Day 18
June 21, 2008
Dear Diary, It rained all day today. That's no fun for getting to play outside. All my favorite things to do are outside. No rollerskating or skateboarding in the house. Hopefully tomorrow the sun will be out again.
Day 17
June 20, 2008
Dear Diary, I must have a hard head or something. Today I was swinging upside down on the pull-up bar on my swing set. I thought it would be fun to let go and only hold on with my legs and swing as high as I could. Well, it was fun, right up until I slipped and hit the ground! I think I landed on my nose. It hurt pretty bad, but nothing's broken, no bleeding or anything. My dad laughed and said that's because I'm a rough and tumble girl.
Day 16
June 17, 2008
Dear Diary, I love my mom, but sometimes she can drive me a little nuts. Since we came home from vacation, she's been stressed out about getting the house back in order. And I guess things have been real busy for her at work too. That's the thing, when Mom gets stressed she yells a lot. It's like she loses all her patience with everyone in our family. At least she apologizes for yelling afterwards. I just wish she didn't get so nuts about it.
Day 15
June 12, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm trying to not get car sick while I write this! We're on our way home from the beach. Other than snorkeling, my favorite thing we did was bike riding. We rented bikes and toured all around the beach area. It was fun, but by the end, my legs were pretty tired. Mom says next time we go to Myrtle Beach, we might rent a house and invite all our aunts, uncles, and cousins. Now that would be really cool!Day 14
June 10, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm having a really nice time at Myrtle Beach with my family. Mom and Dad read their books sitting under their big umbrella. And Ben and I have been exploring the beach. I never tried snorkeling before. It's pretty cool to see the fish and other sea life. The water isn't totallly clear, but you can still see. One time though, a big wave came over me and I sucked in a bunch of salt water into my breathing tube!
Day 13
June 6, 2008
Dear Diary, It's been a little rainy and cloudy the last couple days. Hopefully it will go away soon, we're supposed to leave for Myrtle Beach in the morning. Dad says we can stay for a few days now that school is out for the summer. We go to the beach quite a bit, and we always have a good time. The only thing not fun about the beach, is my mom pestering me to always put more sun lotion on. I'll try to write more while we're at the beach.
Day 12
June 1, 2008
Dear Diary, I was outside all day today. My friend Megan and I were rollerblading and riding our bikes. My mom even made us a picnic lunch to eat out under our big oak tree. Now I'm exhausted. There must have been a bunch of mosquitos out there, because I have bites all over my arms and legs. I'm trying not to scratch them because that just seems to make them itch even more! Anyways, aside from the mosquitos, Megan and I had a lot of fun.
Day 11
May 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Boys can be so rude sometimes. I was skateboarding on my driveway when my brother and his friends rode up on their bikes. One of Ben's friends asked something about "What's a girl doing on a skateboard?" I could feel my face turn red, I was so mad. Then I said "Probably doing something you can't do." My brother Ben and the other boys laughed. I get so frustrated sometimes. Girls can do anything boys can do, right? I'm much happier riding my bike or rollerblading instead of playing dolls or taking ballet.
Day 10
May 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I've been wondering about my freckles. What are they for? I have them, my brother has them. Mom says they're like kisses from the sun. That's cheesey. I think they're just another reason for kids to tease you. At least my daddy says they make me look beautiful.
Day 9
May 23, 2008
Dear Diary, No school Monday! That means a nice long weekend. I know my Mom has to work a lot this weekend at the hospital. That means my Dad will cook his famous lasagne for dinner. He loves to cook. And anytime Mom is busy working, Dad likes to play chef in the kitchen. It's kind of fun!
Day 8
May 20, 2008
Dear Diary, After school today my brother Ben and I went biking on the trails. They're so cool because the trails aren't like the road. These trails have lots of hills and fast turns. Sometimes it's hard to balance. Like today, I got too close to the edge and lost my balance. I actually fell into a duck pond! It didn't hurt or anything, but the water was pretty gross. Ben wouldn't stop laughing.
Day 7
May 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Guess what? My mom said that I can go with her to work today since there is no school. There is some kind of teacher work day or something. And my mom can’t get off work, so I get to go with her! My brother is going to work with my dad! My mom is a surgical nurse and works in the hospital. She helps the doctor during surgeries. I don’t think I will be allowed in any surgeries, and anyway, I think I would puke if I saw some guy’s guts anyway!
Day 6
May 13, 2008
Dear Diary, I kept trying to find time to write, but we were so busy the whole time at the beach. We were outside the whole time, swimming and looking for shells and eating picnics on the beach. It was so great! I didn’t want to bring my diary down to the beach because I thought it might get ruined, so I left it up in the room where it was safe. My mom was very happy too, because my brother and I tried really hard to get along since it was Mother’s Day. I could tell she was proud of our behavior, because another lady told her that we were very well-behaved and that she must be doing a good job raising us. And, to top it all off, my dad got to go fishing and caught a huge barracuda! Did you know those things have a million tiny sharp teeth?? Disgusting!
Day 5
May 10, 2008
Dear Diary, We are here at the beach! It is so beautiful. The sky is perfectly blue and the water is calm. It is a little cold, but I am going to swim anyway. Our hotel has a pool also, so if the ocean is too cold, we can just swim in the pool because my dad says that it is heated. Everyone is getting unloaded and unpacked and I am just sitting here writing. My mom is going to scream in a minute that I should be helping!! I guess I better go. I will write more later about the beach!
Day 4
May 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Guess what? We are going to go away this weekend for Mother’s Day. My mom wants to go to Myrtle Beach to relax on the beach. Me and my brother are very excited because we love the beach. And we get to stay in a hotel and everything. My dad said he is going fishing and boating. I am going to see if my bathing suit still fits from last summer!
Day 3
May 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Yesterday my brother and I built a big ramp out of wood and put it up in our driveway. Then, we started skating up the ramp and flying off the other side. That was so much fun! We only fell a couple times, but we’re okay. My mom saw us out there, but she just put her hands over her eyes and said, “I can’t watch!” Grown-ups are so boring!!
Day 2
May 1, 2008
Dear Diary, It was such a nice day today. I love when the weather turns warm and we are all excited about school getting out in a couple months. Today, my mom said she will take me and my brother on a bike ride all the way to the park. It is about 2 miles, but I just love riding my bike, so it will be just awesome for me!!
Day 1
April 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I had such a rotten day today, that I was stomping all over the house. Well, my mom didn’t like that one bit, so she told me I should write down all my problems and maybe I would feel better. So, I’m writing, but so far, I don’t feel any better, but I guess we’ll see. Here’s what happened. I was on my way to lunch and I was just minding my own business when this kid stepped on the back of my shoe. This made my shoe come off and I tripped and fell. I was so embarrassed and angry. Then, he didn’t even say “sorry” or anything, and the teacher just said, “you’re fine; it was an accident.” The next bad thing that happened was that my yogurt exploded in my lunchbox and I had sticky, yucky yogurt everywhere. Then the rest of my food was ruined, so I didn’t even have any lunch.
