Chelsea's Diary
Day 66
November 15, 2008
Dear Diary, I hope we have pizza tonight. We hardly ever have pizza because Mom doesn't like tomatoes. I don't like big chunks of raw tomatoes, but I like pizza sauce, and I love ketchup. I better ask, or there's no chance at all.
Day 65
November 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Bridget showed me the most adorable video today. It's called "Hedgehog Boogie", or something like that. Anyways, somebody video'd their pet hedgehog doing different things, and put it to music. I cannot believe how precious that little hedgehog was! I'm not usually a big fan of pets, but I would love to have a hedgehog. He could almost fit right in my hand. I asked Dad, just in case, and he said absolutely not. There goes that idea.
Day 64
November 11, 2008
Dear Diary, No school today since it's Veteran's Day. I'm not exactly positive but I think it's a holiday honoring all military veterans. I don't think it's about a specific anniversary for a battle, but remembering all veterans. Since Papa was a marine, we're going to go visit him at the nursing home and bring him some flowers. He always likes that.
Day 63
November 8, 2008
Dear Diary, My plan to avoid cleaning didn't work! My mom actually came outside looking for me. And then she gave me a choice between cleaning out the game closet and sweeping out the garage. And that was just my first chore I had to do! Did I mention that I hate when Mom gets in a cleaning mood?
Day 62
November 6, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm hiding outside because my mom is in a cleaning mood. That always means Stephanie and I get assigned little projects to do. Fun stuff like dusting, cleaning our closets, etc. I don't know what started this cleaning mood, but I'm hoping it will go away soon. Mom's cleaning goes in spurts like that.
Day 61
November 2, 2008
Dear Diary, We tried playing the card game pounce again last night. We hadn't played in a while, so it took us a little while to remember the rules. I think Dad ended up winning the most hands this time, but we had a good time. I better get going on my homework that's due tomorrow. See ya-
Day 60
October 30, 2008
Dear Diary, My kindergarten buddy Wade made me a Halloween card. It was so sweet! He gave it to me acting all shy, and had a piece of candy with it too. Then he wanted to read a book called The Spookiest Halloween Ever. I think he really liked it, I did too.
Day 59
October 27, 2008
Dear Diary, That figures. As soon as we were getting our coolers packed for the park, it started to rain. Well, that ended our plans for a picnic at the park. So we ate Mom's chicken salad out on the covered lanai. The rain was kind of noisey, but it was better than no picnic at all. Dad said we'll try a picnic dinner again next week.
Day 58
October 26, 2008
Dear Diary, We're having a picnic at the park for dinner. Dad said we haven't done that in a while, so he thought it would be fun. I guess so. Mom always makes her delicious chicken salad when we go to the park. I have to remember to get the bag of frozen bread pieces we bring for the fish. We save all our scraps of bread for them in the freezer. Better get ready...
Day 57
October 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I thought I lost Lizzy! I was in my room playing with Lizzy when the phone rang. Well, I ran out to the kitchen to answer it real quick, and by the time I came back to my room, I couldn't find her! After looking all around I finally found her in my sister Stephanie's room. She was cuddled up on Stephanie's jacket on the floor. What a troublemaker!
Day 56
October 17, 2008
Dear Diary, Today we met our kindergarten buddies and we read Chica Chica Boom Boom to them. My little buddy Wade thought the story was very silly. After that we made pictures together of palm trees from the story using our handprints. They were really cute.
Day 55
October 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Wow, Stephanie can really play the piano. I wish I was as good as her. She just got a new piece of music and played it almost perfectly the first time through. I know she's older than me, but she really is a great piano player. Maybe if I keep practicing, someday I'll be as good as my sister.
Day 54
October 10, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm going to Bridget's house for dinner tonight! It couldn't happen on a better night since Mom is making some casserole that I couldn't even tell you what it's made of. Bridget said we're having spaghetti. That sounds much better!
Day 53
October 8, 2008
Dear Diary, I saw Bridget after school. It's a good thing she lives right down the street or I feel like I'd never see her. Now that she goes to middle school it's definitely harder to get together. So we did our homework together and then just talked. Bridget says middle school is a little bit harder, but that it's a lot of fun too. I can't believe someday I'll be in middle school. It seems a little scarey.
Day 52
October 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Yeah, it's Saturday! It was so nice getting to sleep in today. Usually on school mornings I ignore my alarm clock when it goes off. Mom ends up coming in to wake me up so I'm not late for school. Ahhhhh, but on the weekends, she doesn't need to wake me up.
Day 51
October 2, 2008
Dear Diary, I found the perfect journal! It's white with sheet music written all over the front and back covers. I like that you can see the printed music. It's perfect for me since I play the piano, and my sister Stephanie wants one too.
Day 50
September 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I can't believe that my journal is almost totally full. I have only two more pages to go. I'll have to ask Mom if she can get me another one to start, then I'll have to find a good place to keep this one safe. I think my handwriting has gotten much neater than when I started.
Day 49
September 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Last night the local icecream shop was giving out free sundaes to every kid. I begged Dad to take us over there, which he did! The line was all the way out the door! But we waited, and it was so worth it! I wish there was free icecream all the time.
Day 48
September 26, 2008
Dear Diary, My sister Stephanie is really annoying me today. Ever since I came home from school she has been bothering me. I'm not sure why she's in such a bad mood, but I wish she would find someone else to take it out on. When I was playing the piano she kept asking me to not play so loud. There is no volume button on our piano!
Day 47
September 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I felt bad for Mom tonight. Right after dinner the phone rang and it was some guy doing a survey. He said it would only take a few minutes and that she would get a gift card for some home improvement store for participating. It lasted 45 minutes! And the gift card is only for ten dollars. Mom got off the phone saying what a waste of time and that she wished she could get back that 45 minutes. It was kind of funny in a sad way though.
Day 46
September 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I were laughing so hard earlier. She wanted me to try on my jeans since the weather is already getting cooler at night. Pretty soon it will be cold in the daytime too. She wanted to make sure my jeans still fit okay. Well, they don't. I could get them buttoned fine, but they were so short that Mom called them floodwaters. So tomorrow we'll be going shopping for some new jeans and pants.
Day 45
September 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Thankfully I'm not in highschool yet like Stephanie is. She came home today with a ton of homework, and she has two tests tomorrow too. Stephanie and I are kind of opposite. I have to practice really hard at the piano and for her it's easy. In school, it's easier for me, and Stephanie has to study hard. Everyone's different I guess.
Day 44
September 14, 2008
Dear Diary, It's going to be hard for me to see Bridget on school days. Her school hours are much later than mine. We start early and get out early. Bridget doesn't get home until almost dinner time. That would stink! At least we can still see each other on the weekends. Mom says I just need to make friends in my class that I can see during the week.
Day 43
September 9, 2008
Dear Diary, I had a really hard time choosing a book to read to Wade. In the end, I picked "Can You Cuddle Like a Koala?" I think Wade really liked it. He was smiling and said how adorable the pictures of the animals were. He asked if next time we can play a board game. That sounds like fun. I love having a kindergarten buddy.
Day 42
September 5, 2008
Dear Diary, My kindergarten buddy is this cute little boy named Wade. He has the biggest smile, but he's very shy. I don't think he said two words to me today when we met. That's okay, he doesn't know me yet. I'm already trying to think of what books I want to read to him next week in the library. I wonder if he likes animals...
Day 41
September 2, 2008
Dear Diary, It's fun being one of the older kids in school. The teachers pair you up with a kindergarten buddy. Then you get to help them find their way around. You walk them to car line after school, and read to them during library time too. Tomorrow we should be finding out who our buddy is.
Day 40
August 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I swear that Lizzy did her trick today! I've been trying to teach her to sit up on her hind legs. It wasn't going very well, but all of a sudden she did it! So I gave her a small piece of celery. Stephanie says it was just a coincidence, but I don't think so. We better keep practicing.
Day 39
August 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so glad that I didn't get really sick. My throat was just sore for a couple of days, and then that was it. School starts next week and I want to be ready. The only thing I'm sad about with school starting is that Bridget will be going to middle school this year without me. I know we can still be friends and hang out, but it just seems weird.
Day 38
August 24, 2008
Dear Diary, My throat feels like it's getting sore today. I seriously hope I'm not getting sick. I thought people only got sick in the winter anyway. I wonder if guinea pigs can get you sick. Maybe I got it from cuddling to much with Lizzy. I haven't heard her sneezing or anything. Or maybe it's just allergies.
Day 37
August 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I were outside today working in the yard. Not very much fun if you ask me, but I didn't have much choice. Anyways, the mosquitos were everywhere. After a little while we gave up and came inside. Then Mom laughed and told me to go look in the mirror. There, right between my eyes at the bridge of my nose, was the biggest mosquito bite I've ever seen. I can feel it a little bit and almost see it!
Day 36
August 19, 2008
Dear Diary, School starts a week from today. I'm kind of excited about going to orientation. That way I can meet my new teacher and see who is in my class. It would be really great if Bridget was in my class. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Day 35
August 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad says we can go for sushi tonight! My absolute favorite! It wasn't always my favorite though. At first I wouldn't even try it. I thought it looked disgusting and wondered why anyone would eat raw fish anyway. But sushi isn't all raw seafood. You just have to try different kinds to see what you like. I want to get some of those avocado and cucumber rolls tonight. Yummy!
Day 34
August 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, I had taken a break from playing the piano. That music piece Mom had brought home was so tough I was getting pretty frustrated. So this morning I decided to give it another try. And what do you know, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it! Maybe I was just trying too much before and not giving myself a chance to have fun learning it.
Day 33
August 8, 2008
Dear Diary, We just got the notice in the mail today. School orientation is in two weeks. That's when you find out who your new teacher is going to be and what other kids are in your class. Other than that I guess the rest is the same since I was already at the same school last year.
Day 32
August 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Since I just had my birthday I had my annual doctor check-up today. Thankfully no shots this time. Of course I will have to get the flu shot in a few months. I was surprised to hear that I've grown almost three inches since last year. Mom said no wonder I'm always hungry. Doctor said I look perfectly healthy.
Day 31
August 1, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, I'm taking a break from my piano playing for a few days. I was starting to get frustrated with it. I bet my guinea pig Lizzy is happy so she won't have to hear me keep playing the same chords over and over. Besides, I feel like Lizzy and I haven't had much playtime the last couple days. I want to keep working on teaching her tricks.
Day 30
July 29, 2008
Dear Diary, Still trying to learn to play that music Mom gave me. Stephanie has been helping me too. She's been playing a lot longer than I have. And I think she's actually a better pianist than I am. I have to work really hard to learn new music, but for her it seems to come much easier. That's the way it has always been.
Day 29
July 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Boy, that music Mom brought home is tough. I thought I'd be able to play it with only a little practice, but it's actually a lot harder than I thought. That's okay though, it just makes it more of a challenge for me. It has changes in tempo and key. Tempo is how fast you play the music. And the key is how the notes sound, either sharp, flat or natural.
Day 28
July 23, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm actually kind of bummed that my birthday is over already. It was so much fun getting ready and planning it. Then the scavenger hunt went by so fast. Now I feel like there isn't anything to do until school starts. Well, except for playing my keyboard that is. I haven't been able to practice very much lately. I think that's what I'll do this afternoon. Mom brought home some new sheet music I haven't played yet.
Day 27
July 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Wow! I think our scavenger hunt was too awesome! Each team had to complete 46 tasks and take pictures of all the team members doing each one. They were really funny too, like a picture of everybody trying to hide behind a tree. Then we had to walk up the stairs backwards, and ride a kiddie ride. The hardest one for my team was finding a salesman named Bob to take a picture with. We had to go from store to store reading everybody's nametags that worked there. What fun! After the hunt we all had pizza at this restaurant at the mall. I might even do a scavenger hunt again next year!
Day 26
July 18, 2008
Dear Diary, Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday to me! It's finally here. The scavenger hunt isn't for a few more hours, but I'm already getting excited to see all my friends. Mom and I have everything ready I think. Stephanie was a big help too. Mom and Dad said I can open my presents after the party. But I'm not even worried about presents right now. I just want to celebrate with my friends.
Day 25
July 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Only four more days till my birthday! I think birthdays are more fun than Christmas! My mom always goes all out to make sure it's a blast. We're still working on the last details for the mall scavenger hunt. I'm just hoping everything turns out okay and that we didn't mess anything up with our clues.
Day 24
July 10, 2008
Dear Diary, Tonight is sushi night. Instead of going out for dinner though, we're going to make it ourselves. Not sure about that. I usually don't like to cook. I just like to eat what other people make. But I'm willing to make the sacrifice if it means sushi, which is like my favorite!
Day 23
July 9, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, my birthday is only 9 days away! Mom and I figured out that each team will have two people. The cool thing is you don't have to buy the stuff on your list. But you do have to take pictures with everything you find on your list. Doesn't that sound awesome? We're still working on the lists of things to hunt for.
Day 22
July 5, 2008
Dear Diary, I finally decided what I want to do for my birthday. I want to have an ultimate mall scavenger hunt! There are a lot of mall scavenger hunts, so Mom and I have to figure out the rules, and how we're going to do it. But I'm so excited! I think it will be a lot of fun for everyone.
Day 21
July 2, 2008
Dear Diary, I can't believe my birthday is only a couple more weeks away. Mom keeps asking me what I want to do for my birthday, but I haven't thought of anything yet. I guess I better hurry up since it's almost here. But I want it to be something really cool. Better get thinking!
Day 20
June 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Now that Stephanie is back home, it seems normal around here again. She loves what Mom and I did with my bedroom, and now wants to paint her room too. That made me feel pretty good. I think she missed me too, even though she won't admit it. She wants to teach me a new card game she learned at camp, called Pounce. It sounds like fun.
Day 19
June 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I am so excited! My sister Stephanie comes home today from sleep away camp. I didn't think I'd miss her this much, but its been so quiet around here. Of course, I can't tell her how much I missed her. She might tease me! Anyways, now I'm just waiting to hear the van pull into our driveway. Hopefully it will soon.
Day 18
June 25, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm supposed to be sleeping right now, but I'm not. I have my little flashlight and I'm hiding under my blanket to write in my diary. Sometimes I like to read my books at night like this too. I know Dad said lights out, but somehow this seems fun. Lizzy is awake too. I can hear her moving around in her cage. She doesn't even need a flashlight!
Day 17
June 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, I'm sitting here in my new room. It really feels like a new room now that we're all done painting. We put lots of flowers and other island looking stuff to decorate. I think Stephanie will be really surprised to see it when she gets home. She'll be home next Sunday. I really do miss her.
Day 16
June 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I spent all day painting my room. The painting itself is okay. The fun part was listening to the radio and singing while we worked. We're almost done with the walls. It looks so totally different now. Poor Lizzy has been sleeping in her cage in the laundry room. I've been sleeping in Stephanie's room since she's still at camp.
Day 15
June 17, 2008
Dear Diary, I had such a hard time picking what color I wanted to paint my bedroom. Finally we decided to do a light blue color. I want to have a tropical theme. We even found a new comforter that has these big hibiscus flowers on it. So cute! We're going to start painting tomorrow.
Day 14
June 12, 2008
Dear Diary, The house is so quiet since my sister left for camp this week. Mom has been trying to keep me busy I think. Today she asked if I'd like to redecorate my room. It's been yellow for as long as I can remember. So this afternoon we're going to the paint store to see what colors we like. Then we're going to paint it together with my dad.
Day 13
June 9, 2008
Dear Diary, Bridget and I had so much fun Saturday night. We went for sushi. Bridget didn't like it very much, except for the fortune cookie. That's okay, at least she tried it. But afterwards, we hung out at my house. We listened to music and sang songs. Then we used my mom's curling iron and took turns doing each other's hair. I didn't know my hair could look so poofy!
Day 12
June 7, 2008
Dear Diary, It's Saturday. Mom said tonight I can have Bridget sleep over. Bridget and I met in school last year. We are in the same class and everything. I think my parents will probably take us out to dinner. I hope we go to the sushi place. I love California rolls. Bridget has never had sushi before, but she says she wants to try it.
Day 11
June 4, 2008
Dear Diary, My sister Stephanie is getting ready to go to sleep away camp. She'll be gone for 3 whole weeks. I didn't tell her, but I'm really going to miss her. Sure we fight sometimes, but we have fun together too. We play cards, and she helps me with my piano playing. You know, sister stuff. Now it'll just be me and Mom and Dad. Maybe the 3 weeks will go by fast.
Day 10
May 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I can't believe that tomorrow is already June first! This school year went by so fast, and pretty soon it will be my birthday! Sometimes I wish my birthday was during the school year. When you have a summer birthday, you always have to wait to see if it's going to rain. Sometimes your friends can't come to your party because they're away on vacation. Not sure yet what kind of party I'm going to have this year.
Day 9
May 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Last night was my piano recital. We got home so late that it was time for bed as soon as I got home. Anyways, I think I did pretty well. I didn't get too nervous, and it actually was a lot of fun. I think I only missed one chord, but nobody seemed to notice. Even my big sister Stephanie said I did a good job. Our next recital won't be until the fall.
Day 8
May 27, 2008
Dear Diary, There is a boy named Aiden in my class. He thought it would be really funny to stomp on a milk carton full of chocolate milk in the lunchroom today. It would have been funny, but a lot of the milk splashed on my new dress. I hope my mom can wash it out. At least Aiden said he was sorry.
Day 7
May 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Next week is my piano recital! I've been practicing really hard with my lessons. I get very excited to play in front of other people. But then, the day of the recital, I always get really nervous. I just don't want to mess up. I try not to look at anything but the piano, and that seems to help. We'll see.
Day 6
May 21, 2008
Dear Diary, Everybody kept asking me at school today why I got my hair cut. It's kind of embarassing. So I just made up a stupid story about how my mom made me because it's almost summer time. I made my sister Stephanie promise not to tell anyone at school what really happened. Hopefully it will grow back fast.
Day 5
May 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, sleeping with my gum in my mouth seemed like a good idea. I just put it inside my cheek. Then when I woke up this morning it was all stuck in my hair. My hair has been long for a while. My mom had to cut the gum out. Then I just wore the rest up in a ponytail. Today I have to go to the hair salon to get a new shorter haircut. All because of one piece of gum!
Day 4
May 18, 2008
Dear Diary, Sorry I couldn't write yesterday, but we were at the beach. My parents drove us over to see the Pacific Ocean. It's so beautiful! The water was still too cold for swimming, but we ran along the edge where the waves crashed. And it was so windy that we flew our kite. I hope we get to go back soon!
Day 3
May 15, 2008
Dear Diary, I have a pet guinea pig named Lizzy. She is the cutest! I am trying to teach her some tricks, like how to sit and lay down. She likes to nibble on grapes and celery. I use food to practice with her. She needs a lot of practice I think.
Day 2
May 13, 2008
Dear Diary, My piano teacher has been teaching me new songs to play for the recital. I love learning new music. It takes a lot of practice, but it's fun! I have lessons 2 days a week. Then my sister Stephanie helps me practice at home. Someday, maybe I'll be famous.
Day 1
May 10, 2008
Dear Diary, Today I went to the store and bought this pretty journal with my allowance money. It has flowers and butterflies all over it. I'm going to see if I can fill all the pages by the end of the summer. My sister Stephanie has a diary too, but she won't tell me where it is. Maybe I'll hide mine too.
