Chelsea's Diary
Day 159
March 19, 2010
Dear Diary, My little cousin is having a birthday party tomorrow and it's at this bounce house place. I think I might be a little big for bounce houses, but my aunt promised me they have stuff for big kids too. I hope they do. My sister Stephanie isn't even going.
Day 158
March 16, 2010
Dear Diary, Why do sores itch? I have this big scrape on my knee, and I know you're not supposed to scratch because it makes them worse. Well, then why is it itching me? Just something I was wondering.
Day 157
March 12, 2010
Dear Diary, I came home from school today, and my mom had totally rearranged the furniture downstairs. It looks weird to me now, but I think it will be neat to have it look different. I wish I could rearrange my bedroom furniture too, but my room's kind of small, and I'm not really sure there's anywhere else to put my bed. Maybe I can try.
Day 156
March 4, 2010
Dear Diary, It's leftover night at our house. I hate leftover night. My mom tries to be all creative and turn it into something new that looks different, but I know. I know those are the peas and mashed potatoes we had yesterday. Mom thinks she's fooling us by making it into a casserole. We're not fooled Mom. Can't it just be pizza night?
Day 155
February 27, 2010
Dear Diary, I want to play cards, but there's no one to play with. Mom and Dad are making dinner. Stephanie is in her room and won't open the door, and Amber can't play either. You can't play "Pounce" by yourself. The only game you can play by yourself is "Solitare", and that's boring. Guess I'll have to find something else to do.
Day 154
February 23, 2010
Dear Diary, Amber's mom said she could come over to play as soon as Amber finished cleaning her room. What's taking so long? Pretty soon it'll be dinner time, and then it will be too late. My parents don't usually let me play after dinner. Hurry up Amber!
Day 153
February 18, 2010
Dear Diary, My friend's hamster died. I felt really bad, because I know how I would feel if something happened to Lizzy. Poor Amber. She said it's the second one she's had. I think I'll make Amber a card to tell her how I feel.
Day 152
February 16, 2010
Dear Diary, I asked my mom if I could get a cellphone, and she said no. She didn't even think about it, it was just "no", right away. That's not fair since all my friends have cellphones! I guess I don't really need one, but I really want one. I wonder when I'll be old enough?
Day 151
February 8, 2010
Dear Diary, Stephanie got her car, and she's driving us all out to dinner tonight. Should I be scared? I'm sure my paretns wouldn't have us all driving with her if they didn't think she could handle it. It just seems weird.
Day 150
February 3, 2010
Dear Diary, There's this movie I saw a few days ago that had the most beautiful song in it. And the song was all played on piano. I'd like to see if I can play it. I think I'll ask my piano teacher if he thinks I could try it.
Day 149
January 30, 2010
Dear Diary, My sister Stephanie is getting a car! I cannot believe they gave her a license, but now my parents are helping her get a car. At least she'll be able to drive me places now. I better stay on her good side I guess.
Day 148
January 22, 2010
Dear Diary, We made sushi candy! You know I love real sushi, but this was fun and something different. You use fruit strips and those red fish candies, and then marshmallows, and some other stuff. I made my dad take a picture of it when we were done. It looked so pretty!
Day 147
January 19, 2010
Dear Diary, My mom is all freaked out because she thinks she found a gray hair. I still couldn't see it, even after she tried to show it to me. I'm not sure what the big deal is anyway, so what if she does have some gray hair?
Day 146
January 11, 2010
Dear Diary, Amber came over yesterday, and my family tried to teach her how to play Pounce, the card game. I think she was starting to get it by the end. Hopefully next time we play it will be easier for her. I love that game-
Day 145
January 7, 2010
Dear Diary, My mom and dad are painting their room right now. I wish I could help too, but I think I have to wait until I get older. It looks like fun, except when my mom gets paint all in her hair, and it makes her hair look gray. It's really funny looking! Guess we're having pizza tonight since they're busy painting. I wish it was sushi instead-
Day 144
January 5, 2010
Dear Diary, My teacher is the nicest teacher I've ever had, but she always gives us so much homework. I don't mind so much when it's spelling and reading, but the math can be really hard. We're doing geometry right now, and I keep getting confused. I'm gonna ask my dad to help me with my homework when he gets home. Hopefully he'll know it.
Day 143
December 27, 2009
Dear Diary, I know my grandma loves me, but she bought these pictures for my room that are really babyish looking. I couldn't tell her what I really thought about them, because that would be rude. I think my mom knew, because she said she'd take care of it. Okay...
Day 142
December 22, 2009
Dear Diary, No piano lesson this week because my teacher is out of town. He gave me some "homework" to do, which is basically teaching myself to play a new piece of music. It looks pretty hard, but I think I can handle it, if I practice.
Day 141
December 14, 2009
Dear Diary, We just got home from this deli my mom likes to go to. I love the food from there, but the place stinks! I mean it smells like spicey sausage and eggs and a bunch of other things I don't even know what they are, all mixed together. Yucky! I feel like it's on my clothes now too, ewwwwww!
Day 140
December 10, 2009
Dear Diary, I've been so busy I didn't even write about my piano concert yet. It was really neat. I think Mr. Mike was really proud of how good I played. I didn't even get nervous. I was so happy to be playing up on a stage with so many people watching. And they clapped for me when I finished! I would love to play in an enormous concert hall when I grow up...
Day 139
December 3, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom was telling me the story about how she met my dad. She said they met online. Isn't that weird? I thought they met in school or something. They didn't know each other, even though they lived in the same town. Cool.
Day 138
November 28, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom has been playing this game online thats like some kind of color pattern game. She wanted me to try it, and one my second game, I beat her high score. I thought she was going to freak, but she laughed. I think she gave up after that-
Day 137
November 25, 2009
Dear Diary, We made these really neat looking cornucopias in art. We had to color plastic wrap with different colored permanent markers. Then when you put it over the tinfoil, it looks like stained glass. Really cool! I don't usually like the projects we do in art, but this one was pretty fun.
Day 136
November 19, 2009
Dear Diary, It seems like all my friends are going away for Thanksgiving. I wish we could go somewhere too. But Aunt Char is about to have her baby, so I know my mom doesn't want to go anywhere. Mom jumps every time the phone rings. She's going to be in the room when my aunt has the baby. Not me!
Day 135
November 11, 2009
Dear Diary, My new friend Amber was at our house playing and my mom decided to take out a photo album to show her some old pictures. Like I really want my friends to see pictures of me in my diaper or looking cheesey. Thanks Mom!
Day 134
November 7, 2009
Dear Diary, I can't believe Halloween just passed, and now my parents are already talking about Thanksgiving. Pretty soon the school year will be half over. There's going to be a winter concert for Mr. Mike's students next month. I haven't even picked what I'm going to play yet, so I need to do that soon.
Day 133
November 2, 2009
Dear Diary, Halloween was a blast! My dad really did awesome this year with the scarey decorations. Everyone who came by our house said we had the best. I loved this ghost that was hanging on a wire and flew back and forth between two of the trees in our front yard. Everybody would jump when it flew by them! How hilarious!
Day 132
October 31, 2009
Dear Diary, This is the first year I can remember that Halloween is on a Saturday. Dad and I are going to do a ton of decorating outside this afternoon. My dad really gets into it! He has all these inflatables, and a mummy in a coffin that sits up when you walk by, some really cool stuff. I think it will be fun! And that's pretty much what's going on-
Day 131
October 24, 2009
Dear Diary, My hands have blisters on the from helping my mom in the garden, so it's making it kind of hard to play the piano today. Hopefully they'll get better soon. Mom said I should rub this liquid vitamin e she has on them, that it should help. I'll try. My piano lesson is Monday, so I'm sure I'll be fine by then.
Day 130
October 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Sushi night tonight! We haven't been out to dinner in awhile, so that sounds good to me. Then I have to come home and finish studying for my vocabulary quiz. My mom or dad usually quizzes me to make sure I know them. Sometimes it's hard to not "cheat" when you study by yourself.
Day 129
October 14, 2009
Dear Diary, I ran into Bridget at the store last night. I haven't seen her in awhile. It's not like we had a fight or anything. It's just hard when you both go to two different schools. I still miss her though.
Day 128
October 10, 2009
Dear Diary, I was wondering why I didn't see Amber the last couple of days. She wasn't in school either. Mom just told me her mom called and said that Amber is really sick and has a high fever. I'm supposed to bring home work for her to do from the teacher if she doesn't make it to school on Monday. Poor Amber, having a fever is the worst.
Day 127
October 4, 2009
Dear Diary, I thought my parents would tell me I wasn't allowed to spend the $50 I made last weekend, but they didn't. They're doing that guilt thing. You know, where they say I can spend it if I want to, but deep down I know they don't want me to just waste it. It's tempting to just go out and spend it all, but I'm not sure yet.
Day 126
September 29, 2009
Dear Diary, It was so much fun, and I got paid $50 for playing the piano! It seems strange, because it's something I love to do, and I do it all the time. That's the first time I ever got paid for performing. And the guests all clapped for me when I finished playing. And yes, I got to have some cake, mini cheesecakes. I would do it again someday-
Day 125
September 24, 2009
Dear Diary, Saturday is the party I'm playing the piano at. I'm excited, and only a little nervous. Mr Mike will be there the whole time, so it's not like I won't know anybody. I hope they have cake, I like cake.
Day 124
September 17, 2009
Dear Diary, Well, I'm still not happy about it, but I guess I understand what my parents are concerned about. They don't want me playing inside Amber's house yet, because they don't know her parents. I guess that kind of makes them strangers, even though I know their names. So for now, we agreed that after my homework and chores are done, I can play with Amber, but it has to be either outside, or in our house. Okay, okay.
Day 123
September 15, 2009
Dear Diary, My parents are being difficult. Remember Amber who just moved in down the street? Well, she's the first person to live on our street who is my age, so I want to hang out with her all the time. We have fun together, and get along really good. My parents don't understand what it's like to never have a friend live on your street, and then all of a sudden, one moves in. Now they're nagging me about my homework, and my chores. They said we don't have to play together all the time. Why not?
Day 122
September 10, 2009
Dear Diary, My sister is all jealous that I'm going to get paid for playing the piano at a party. She never did anything like that. But she quit the piano! It's coming up in a couple of weeks. Mr. Mike said I'm going to play all the different music I've already learned, nothing new. Sounds like fun!
Day 121
September 4, 2009
Dear Diary, Mr. Mike says I'm doing really good with the piano. He even asked me if I would think about playing for a dinner party. Some family he knows is having a big, fancy birthday party, and want someone to play the piano. And the best part is that I would actually get paid for doing it! I think my parents would be okay with it.
Day 120
August 29, 2009
Dear Diary, So happy it's Saturday! School started this week, and I'm tired already. We already have lots of homework and things to bring in. My head was spinning! My teacher is okay I guess. I'm still trying to decide if I like her or not. Last year I heard Mrs. Burns yelling at her class in the hallway, but she hasn't yelled at us yet, so we'll see-
Day 119
August 25, 2009
Dear Diary, We got to have my favorite dinner, sushi! Yum, yum! Then we stopped to visit my papa. He was so happy to see us. I think he gets really lonely living in a nursing home. I told him all about school starting tomorrow-
Day 118
August 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I was wondering why guinea pigs are called guinea pigs, so I decided to Google it.They're not related to pigs, and they're not from Guinea, the country. Well, that's strange then!
Day 117
August 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I just finished my piano lesson, and I can't believe my fingers are still working! Mr. Mike had me practicing my scales over and over trying to get my fingers more flexible. It did seem to help loosen them up for when I played my sheet music. It's this really pretty song called Bella's Lullaby. I think it's from some movie or something.
Day 116
August 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Amber who just moved in down the street has been playing at our house a lot. Her parents are busy painting and unpacking, so we can't really play at her house yet. She's really nice, I hope we get to be in the same class next year-
Day 115
August 4, 2009
Dear Diary, Oh my gosh, we have a rat problem at our house! Yesterday I was eating breakfast and heard one squeaking at the back door. Then today there was one crawling outside on our front window. That is so gross! I don't even want to know what my dad has to do to get rid of them, but I just don't want them at our house. They have the whole woods to play in.
Day 114
July 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Aunt Char called and said they found out that the baby is going to be a boy. Another boy? I was hoping for a girl, no offense. I'm sure he'll be cute and fun to play with, but when he gets older we won't have anything in common. But by the time he's my age, I'll be an adult anyway. Really?
Day 113
July 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom just informed me that today I have to write my thank you cards for all my birthday presents. It's not that I don't appreciate all the cool presents, but I hate writing thank you cards. It takes forever! Maybe I can do half of them today and half tomorrow. That would be way better-
Day 112
July 19, 2009
Dear Diary, The Family Fun Center was a blast!!! We did the go karts and played in the arcade. I love playing skee ball! Then we had pizza, but I was so excited, I didn't want to sit and eat. And Mom brought a chocolate chip cookie cake that was so yummy. Even my big sister Stephanie said she had fun at the party, and she's usually too cool for that kind of stuff, little Miss "I'm in highschool". I want to have my party there again next year!
Day 111
July 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I wish Saturday would just hurry up and get here! I feel like I'm bored and just walking around waiting for my party. If we were still in school I'd at least have something to keep me busy. Maybe I'll go see if my mom has something for me to do. As long as it's not doing dishes, I hate washing dishes.
Day 110
July 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Some of my friends at school are a little upset with me. They all wanted to come to my party at the fun center. But I couldn't invite everyone, only 5 people! I wish I could, but Mom says since it's not free, there has to be a limit. I hope they'll understand. I tried to be really nice about it.
Day 109
July 3, 2009
Dear Diary, My birthday is only 2 weeks away! Mom and I sent out an evite using the internet. I hope all my friends can come. We're going to the Family Fun Center! Mom let me invite 5 of my best friends. I've been there before, but its been a long time. They have bumper boats, go karts, rides and even a roller coaster simulator. Ever since I went to my friend's party there last year, I knew I wanted to have my next party at the fun center!
Day 108
June 29, 2009
Dear Diary, That girl I told you about named Amber is really nice. Her family just moved here from Florida. And guess what?!?! She and I have the exact same birthday, July 18th! And, we'll be going to the same school in August. Maybe I should invite her to my birthday party. I'll have to ask my mom.
Day 107
June 27, 2009
Dear Diary, My big sister Stephanie is home from camp already. I missed her, but not like last time. Maybe because my mom and I stayed pretty busy. We cleaned out all the closets in the house, visited Papa at the nursing home, and did a bunch of other stuff. There's a new girl who moved in the house around the corner named Amber. I hope we can be friends, she looks about the same age as me.
Day 106
June 20, 2009
Dear Diary, Earlier I heard my dad outside yelling and howling. Mom and I both ran out there and found him trying to take his t-shirt off. He was mowing the grass and got stung by a wasp, not once, but twice! I didn't even know they could sting you more than once. Somehow the wasp flew down the back of his shirt and he had to get his shirt off to get away from the wasp. Poor Dad!
Day 105
June 15, 2009
Dear Diary, Stephanie is packing to go on her week long camping trip in a few days. I wish I could go too. Dad says that I have plenty of time to go when I get older. As much as we fight, I'm really going to miss Stephanie. When she went away last summer, it felt like forever before she came home. Don't tell her I said that though!
Day 104
June 11, 2009
Dear Diary, Mr. Mike is on vacation for the next 2 weeks, so that means no piano lessons. I still have music he gave me to practice, kind of like homework. I'm having trouble with one of them, hopefully my sister can help me. I know she doesn't play anymore, but she still knows how.
Day 103
June 5, 2009
Dear Diary, French burnt peanuts. Never heard of them before, but my parents brought them home from the store. It's strange because they're not really peanuts, they're just candy, no peanuts at all. They're orange and round, but they're pretty good. Dad says he used to eat them all the time when he was a kid. Okay Dad, whatever.
Day 102
May 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I asked my mom if I could go to a sleepaway camp this summer like Stephanie but she said probably not. Something about me not being old enough yet. Summer is almost here, and I have no idea what camps I'm going to. Am I going to any camps? I hope so, or it's going to be a long summer-
Day 101
May 24, 2009
Dear Diary, Aunt Char just found out the baby is a boy! A boy cousin! They haven't picked out a name yet, but hopefully soon. Her tummy is getting really big, but don't tell her I said that. I think she looks beautiful.
Day 100
May 18, 2009
Dear Diary, Tonight is art and music night at school. We have to sing in front of everyone's parents. I like playing music, but singing is so-so. At least I get to see my friends. Better go get ready, it's almost time to leave.
Day 99
May 15, 2009
Dear Diary, Our class went on the fieldtrip today! Most of us went anyway. There were a couple kids that the teacher left behind with another class because they had bad behavior. The Children's Museum was very cool! I think I liked the mountain forest the best. We ate our lunch up there after we hiked.
Day 98
May 7, 2009
Dear Diary, Our class was really bad this morning, and our teacher said that if we don't get it together she'll cancel our field trip! I really hope we get to go next week. Some kids always have to ruin it for everyone else. I'm not saying I'm Miss Perfect or anything, but I'm usually pretty good in school.
Day 97
May 3, 2009
Dear Diary, There are only like 25 days left of school. I can't believe that's it! Our teacher is already talking to us about orientation for next year. And for the last few weeks we're doing lots of fun stuff, like a field trip to the Children's Museum!
Day 96
April 28, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and I went to visit Papa this afternoon. We brought him some of those chocolate chip cookie bars he likes too. I think he ate half of them before we even left! I wish we got to see him more often, but we try to once a week.
Day 95
April 23, 2009
Dear Diary, I was right! Our piano was out of tune, and that's why it sounded weird when I was practicing. Mr. Mike actually tuned it for us before our lesson. Then I played that piece I've been working on, and I think I did pretty good. Mr. Mike said "nice job."
Day 94
April 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I've been practicing the piano all weekend. Mr. Mike expects me to play one of the pieces he gave me last week. I think our piano is out of tune though, something doesn't sound quite right. That makes it hard to practice when you think you're playing the wrong key because it sounds weird, but it's hopefully just the piano and not me! Mom says she'll have to get it checked.
Day 93
April 16, 2009
Dear Diary, My little kindergarten buddy made me a card. Isn't that sweet? I can't really read the writing, but Wade drew a picture of us standing in front of the school. He gave it to me in the lunchroom. I still have to pick a story to read to him for tomorrow.
Day 92
April 10, 2009
Dear Diary, I just learned that I don't like cherry pie. Mom brought one home from the bakery tonight. I guess that means I don't like cherries either. I felt bad because she brought it home for us for dessert. But hey, at least it's not like my mom baked it herself and I didn't like it. That would be bad.
Day 91
April 3, 2009
Dear Diary, Our next door neighbor is getting married, and they're having a big engagement party tonight. Some fancy restaurant that has a dance floor, so there will be music and everything. I think it will be fun. There are a couple other kids going from our school that I know will be there. Now I just have to decide what dress to wear.
Day 90
March 28, 2009
Dear Diary, Mr. Mike is nice and all, but he's really tough! I guess that's good though since he pushes me to work hard, that means I'll be a better player. I already pratice a lot, now Mr. Mike says I just have to practice smart, whatever that means. I guess I'll find out-
Day 89
March 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Tomorrow is my first lesson with my new piano teacher, and I'm a little nervous. What if Mr. Mike doesn't like the way I play? What then? I've been trying to decide what pieces I want to play for him because he said he would like to hear what I already know for my first lesson. Wish me luck!
Day 88
March 21, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom found this really cool new piano teacher for me. His name is Mr. Mike, and he used to be a school music teacher before he and his wife had a baby. Now he just teaches lessons. Don't get me wrong, I love Ms. Kucha, and I'll miss her. I'm just relieved my mom found someone else so I won't have to miss any lessons!
Day 87
March 13, 2009
Dear Diary, This week went by so fast! Mom interviewed a couple different piano teachers since Ms. Kucha can only teach me for a few more weeks. Not sure if she picked one yet, I'll have to ask her. So I had piano, school, and lots of errands to run with my mom. You know, getting my hair cut and all that fun stuff.
Day 86
March 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Black beans and rice for dinner. I would so much rather have sushi. Seems like a while since we've had it. Mom said maybe next weekend. What I wouldn't give for a cucumber and avocado sushi roll right now. I'm making myself hungry!
Day 85
March 3, 2009
Dear Diary, Piano has been going really good, but my mom has to find me a new teacher. Miss Kucha is moving, and won't be my piano teacher after next week. She has been my piano teacher forever, so that makes me kind of sad. I just hope whoever my mom finds is nice like Miss Kucha.
Day 84
February 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Why does my birthday have to be so far away? I think it would be so much fun to have a party right now. July is forever away. First everyone else in my family has to have a birthday first, then mine. Oh well, can't help when you're born I guess.
Day 83
February 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Oh my gosh! I cannot believe that I have ringworm, but it's true. I thought it was just a dry spot on my neck. Then we found out that another kid in my class has ringworm. So now two times a day Mom is putting this cream on my neck. I hate that I have to wear a band aid all day in school, but they said I have to. I guess ringworm is very contagious. Lucky me-
Day 82
February 17, 2009
Dear Diary, Last night we had a water pipe under the bathroom sink break. Well, since we couldn't have the water spilling all over the floor, Dad had to shut the water off. No big deal, except that meant no water at all until the plumber came out last night. I never realized how often we use water! I kept turning on the faucet without thinking about it. At least it's fixed now, I just had to take my shower this morning before school instead of last night.
Day 81
February 13, 2009
Dear Diary, It's Friday the 13th! Ooooooh spooky! I'm not sure what the big deal really is. Some kids were talking about it in school today like some evil spirit is out there to get them. And who decided that the number 13 is an unlucky number? Why not number 7? Or 4?
Day 80
February 11, 2009
Dear Diary, It feels like Bridget and I are kind of growing apart lately. It's not like we had a fight or anything, but we hardly ever see each other. We don't even go to the same school anymore, and that makes it harder too. By the time she gets home from school it's almost dinner time, and then Bridget still has her homework to do too. Makes me feel kind of sad.
Day 79
February 4, 2009
Dear Diary, We tried to make our own sushi for dinner last night. It took forever, and I swear it didn't taste as good as that restaurant we go to. Besides, Mom said our house smelled really fishy afterwards. No more sushi at home for us.
Day 78
January 30, 2009
Dear Diary, In school, I stayed away from Kiana today. I still feel really sad about what she said to me. And I'm not sure there's anything I can do about it. When I told my mom she just said there would be lots of other birthday parties. That didn't really make me feel any better.
Day 77
January 27, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so sad. There's this girl in my class named Kiana. I thought we were friends. Well, she's having a birthday party next weekend and I just found out that she invited a bunch of kids from our class, but not me. And when I asked her about it she said I was dumb, and that's why she didn't invite me. I had a hard time not crying in front of her.
Day 76
January 19, 2009
Dear Diary, One of our neighbors had their car broken into. Whoever it was only got a few cd's and a gps, but that's it. Mom said from now on we're parking both cars in the garage. Good idea-
Day 75
January 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Last night we went out to dinner with my Aunt and Uncle to some steak place. Aunt Char is going to have a baby. Well, she's not having it right now, but someday. Her stomach isn't even that big yet. Then we got home so late I barely had time to finish my homework before it was time to get ready for bed. I hate rushing!
Day 74
January 7, 2009
Dear Diary, My sister Stephanie just announced at dinner tonight that she doesn't want to play the piano anymore. I was totally shocked! She's been playing forever, and she's way better than I am. But she said she wants to try something new, like maybe singing. Wow, I thought Stephanie would always play the piano. I think my parents were a little disappointed, but they said it's Stephanie's choice.
Day 73
January 3, 2009
Dear Diary, This new year's resolution stuff is kind of hard, but I guess it's supposed to be. I've decided that even though I'm eating healthier that doesn't mean I can't have any treats at all, I just need to limit them. Dad liked my resolution so much that he thinks the whole family should be eating healthier too. I should eat more like Lizzy. Her favorite snack is celery!
Day 72
December 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I came up with my new year's resolution just in time since tonight is the big night. I've decided I'm really going to eat healthier. More fruits and vegetables and less junk. That also means more milk and water and less other stuff. It's not going to be easy since I really have a thing for sweets, but I'm really going to try. Wish me luck!
Day 71
December 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Our parents were having some kind of holiday party last night, and I had a hard time sleeping. I know they were only have fun, but the music was loud, and everyone was laughing and talking loud. The party didn't even start until right before I went to bed, and I woke up because the doorbell kept ringing. I wish we had been allowed to be at the party too!
Day 70
December 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Can you believe it's almost 2009? This year has gone by pretty fast. That means pretty soon I have to think of a New Year's resolution. This year my resolution was to do my best in school. I think I did good on that one, except for maybe that one science test I didn't do very good on. Time to start thinking of my 2009 resolution...
Day 69
December 17, 2008
Dear Diary, Lizzy loves being outside, but it's pretty cold out there. So in the winter, she runs around in my room. Sometimes I let her out in the rest of the house, but Mom doesn't usually like that. She's afraid Lizzy will get lost. All I would have to do is bring out some celery and I'm sure Lizzy would find it if she did get lost!
Day 68
December 12, 2008
Dear Diary, Bridget is coming over to spend the night tonight! We haven't had the chance to hang out since Thanksgiving break, so I'm really happy she's coming! I promised her we wouldn't eat sushi this time, since I know she really doesn't like it. Maybe we'll play Pounce, that card game I learned a while ago. I can even ask Stephanie if she wants to play with us. The more people you have makes it more fun to play.
Day 67
December 4, 2008
Dear Diary, My fingers are kind of sore today from all the piano practice I did last night. I've just about got that music piece Mom gave me all those months back. Its been a really tough one to learn, but I really like it. And I never back down from a challenge. My sister Stephanie probably could have played it perfect the first or second time through, but thankfully she never tried, or that might have annoyed me!
Day 66
November 15, 2008
Dear Diary, I hope we have pizza tonight. We hardly ever have pizza because Mom doesn't like tomatoes. I don't like big chunks of raw tomatoes, but I like pizza sauce, and I love ketchup. I better ask, or there's no chance at all.
Day 65
November 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Bridget showed me the most adorable video today. It's called "Hedgehog Boogie", or something like that. Anyways, somebody video'd their pet hedgehog doing different things, and put it to music. I cannot believe how precious that little hedgehog was! I'm not usually a big fan of pets, but I would love to have a hedgehog. He could almost fit right in my hand. I asked Dad, just in case, and he said absolutely not. There goes that idea.
Day 64
November 11, 2008
Dear Diary, No school today since it's Veteran's Day. I'm not exactly positive but I think it's a holiday honoring all military veterans. I don't think it's about a specific anniversary for a battle, but remembering all veterans. Since Papa was a marine, we're going to go visit him at the nursing home and bring him some flowers. He always likes that.
Day 63
November 8, 2008
Dear Diary, My plan to avoid cleaning didn't work! My mom actually came outside looking for me. And then she gave me a choice between cleaning out the game closet and sweeping out the garage. And that was just my first chore I had to do! Did I mention that I hate when Mom gets in a cleaning mood?
Day 62
November 6, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm hiding outside because my mom is in a cleaning mood. That always means Stephanie and I get assigned little projects to do. Fun stuff like dusting, cleaning our closets, etc. I don't know what started this cleaning mood, but I'm hoping it will go away soon. Mom's cleaning goes in spurts like that.
Day 61
November 2, 2008
Dear Diary, We tried playing the card game pounce again last night. We hadn't played in a while, so it took us a little while to remember the rules. I think Dad ended up winning the most hands this time, but we had a good time. I better get going on my homework that's due tomorrow. See ya-
Day 60
October 30, 2008
Dear Diary, My kindergarten buddy Wade made me a Halloween card. It was so sweet! He gave it to me acting all shy, and had a piece of candy with it too. Then he wanted to read a book called The Spookiest Halloween Ever. I think he really liked it, I did too.
Day 59
October 27, 2008
Dear Diary, That figures. As soon as we were getting our coolers packed for the park, it started to rain. Well, that ended our plans for a picnic at the park. So we ate Mom's chicken salad out on the covered lanai. The rain was kind of noisey, but it was better than no picnic at all. Dad said we'll try a picnic dinner again next week.
Day 58
October 26, 2008
Dear Diary, We're having a picnic at the park for dinner. Dad said we haven't done that in a while, so he thought it would be fun. I guess so. Mom always makes her delicious chicken salad when we go to the park. I have to remember to get the bag of frozen bread pieces we bring for the fish. We save all our scraps of bread for them in the freezer. Better get ready...
Day 57
October 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I thought I lost Lizzy! I was in my room playing with Lizzy when the phone rang. Well, I ran out to the kitchen to answer it real quick, and by the time I came back to my room, I couldn't find her! After looking all around I finally found her in my sister Stephanie's room. She was cuddled up on Stephanie's jacket on the floor. What a troublemaker!
Day 56
October 17, 2008
Dear Diary, Today we met our kindergarten buddies and we read Chica Chica Boom Boom to them. My little buddy Wade thought the story was very silly. After that we made pictures together of palm trees from the story using our handprints. They were really cute.
Day 55
October 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Wow, Stephanie can really play the piano. I wish I was as good as her. She just got a new piece of music and played it almost perfectly the first time through. I know she's older than me, but she really is a great piano player. Maybe if I keep practicing, someday I'll be as good as my sister.
Day 54
October 10, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm going to Bridget's house for dinner tonight! It couldn't happen on a better night since Mom is making some casserole that I couldn't even tell you what it's made of. Bridget said we're having spaghetti. That sounds much better!
Day 53
October 8, 2008
Dear Diary, I saw Bridget after school. It's a good thing she lives right down the street or I feel like I'd never see her. Now that she goes to middle school it's definitely harder to get together. So we did our homework together and then just talked. Bridget says middle school is a little bit harder, but that it's a lot of fun too. I can't believe someday I'll be in middle school. It seems a little scarey.
Day 52
October 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Yeah, it's Saturday! It was so nice getting to sleep in today. Usually on school mornings I ignore my alarm clock when it goes off. Mom ends up coming in to wake me up so I'm not late for school. Ahhhhh, but on the weekends, she doesn't need to wake me up.
Day 51
October 2, 2008
Dear Diary, I found the perfect journal! It's white with sheet music written all over the front and back covers. I like that you can see the printed music. It's perfect for me since I play the piano, and my sister Stephanie wants one too.
Day 50
September 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I can't believe that my journal is almost totally full. I have only two more pages to go. I'll have to ask Mom if she can get me another one to start, then I'll have to find a good place to keep this one safe. I think my handwriting has gotten much neater than when I started.
Day 49
September 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Last night the local icecream shop was giving out free sundaes to every kid. I begged Dad to take us over there, which he did! The line was all the way out the door! But we waited, and it was so worth it! I wish there was free icecream all the time.
Day 48
September 26, 2008
Dear Diary, My sister Stephanie is really annoying me today. Ever since I came home from school she has been bothering me. I'm not sure why she's in such a bad mood, but I wish she would find someone else to take it out on. When I was playing the piano she kept asking me to not play so loud. There is no volume button on our piano!
Day 47
September 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I felt bad for Mom tonight. Right after dinner the phone rang and it was some guy doing a survey. He said it would only take a few minutes and that she would get a gift card for some home improvement store for participating. It lasted 45 minutes! And the gift card is only for ten dollars. Mom got off the phone saying what a waste of time and that she wished she could get back that 45 minutes. It was kind of funny in a sad way though.
Day 46
September 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I were laughing so hard earlier. She wanted me to try on my jeans since the weather is already getting cooler at night. Pretty soon it will be cold in the daytime too. She wanted to make sure my jeans still fit okay. Well, they don't. I could get them buttoned fine, but they were so short that Mom called them floodwaters. So tomorrow we'll be going shopping for some new jeans and pants.
Day 45
September 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Thankfully I'm not in highschool yet like Stephanie is. She came home today with a ton of homework, and she has two tests tomorrow too. Stephanie and I are kind of opposite. I have to practice really hard at the piano and for her it's easy. In school, it's easier for me, and Stephanie has to study hard. Everyone's different I guess.
Day 44
September 14, 2008
Dear Diary, It's going to be hard for me to see Bridget on school days. Her school hours are much later than mine. We start early and get out early. Bridget doesn't get home until almost dinner time. That would stink! At least we can still see each other on the weekends. Mom says I just need to make friends in my class that I can see during the week.
Day 43
September 9, 2008
Dear Diary, I had a really hard time choosing a book to read to Wade. In the end, I picked "Can You Cuddle Like a Koala?" I think Wade really liked it. He was smiling and said how adorable the pictures of the animals were. He asked if next time we can play a board game. That sounds like fun. I love having a kindergarten buddy.
Day 42
September 5, 2008
Dear Diary, My kindergarten buddy is this cute little boy named Wade. He has the biggest smile, but he's very shy. I don't think he said two words to me today when we met. That's okay, he doesn't know me yet. I'm already trying to think of what books I want to read to him next week in the library. I wonder if he likes animals...
Day 41
September 2, 2008
Dear Diary, It's fun being one of the older kids in school. The teachers pair you up with a kindergarten buddy. Then you get to help them find their way around. You walk them to car line after school, and read to them during library time too. Tomorrow we should be finding out who our buddy is.
Day 40
August 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I swear that Lizzy did her trick today! I've been trying to teach her to sit up on her hind legs. It wasn't going very well, but all of a sudden she did it! So I gave her a small piece of celery. Stephanie says it was just a coincidence, but I don't think so. We better keep practicing.
Day 39
August 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so glad that I didn't get really sick. My throat was just sore for a couple of days, and then that was it. School starts next week and I want to be ready. The only thing I'm sad about with school starting is that Bridget will be going to middle school this year without me. I know we can still be friends and hang out, but it just seems weird.
Day 38
August 24, 2008
Dear Diary, My throat feels like it's getting sore today. I seriously hope I'm not getting sick. I thought people only got sick in the winter anyway. I wonder if guinea pigs can get you sick. Maybe I got it from cuddling to much with Lizzy. I haven't heard her sneezing or anything. Or maybe it's just allergies.
Day 37
August 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I were outside today working in the yard. Not very much fun if you ask me, but I didn't have much choice. Anyways, the mosquitos were everywhere. After a little while we gave up and came inside. Then Mom laughed and told me to go look in the mirror. There, right between my eyes at the bridge of my nose, was the biggest mosquito bite I've ever seen. I can feel it a little bit and almost see it!
Day 36
August 19, 2008
Dear Diary, School starts a week from today. I'm kind of excited about going to orientation. That way I can meet my new teacher and see who is in my class. It would be really great if Bridget was in my class. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Day 35
August 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad says we can go for sushi tonight! My absolute favorite! It wasn't always my favorite though. At first I wouldn't even try it. I thought it looked disgusting and wondered why anyone would eat raw fish anyway. But sushi isn't all raw seafood. You just have to try different kinds to see what you like. I want to get some of those avocado and cucumber rolls tonight. Yummy!
Day 34
August 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, I had taken a break from playing the piano. That music piece Mom had brought home was so tough I was getting pretty frustrated. So this morning I decided to give it another try. And what do you know, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it! Maybe I was just trying too much before and not giving myself a chance to have fun learning it.
Day 33
August 8, 2008
Dear Diary, We just got the notice in the mail today. School orientation is in two weeks. That's when you find out who your new teacher is going to be and what other kids are in your class. Other than that I guess the rest is the same since I was already at the same school last year.
Day 32
August 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Since I just had my birthday I had my annual doctor check-up today. Thankfully no shots this time. Of course I will have to get the flu shot in a few months. I was surprised to hear that I've grown almost three inches since last year. Mom said no wonder I'm always hungry. Doctor said I look perfectly healthy.
Day 31
August 1, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, I'm taking a break from my piano playing for a few days. I was starting to get frustrated with it. I bet my guinea pig Lizzy is happy so she won't have to hear me keep playing the same chords over and over. Besides, I feel like Lizzy and I haven't had much playtime the last couple days. I want to keep working on teaching her tricks.
Day 30
July 29, 2008
Dear Diary, Still trying to learn to play that music Mom gave me. Stephanie has been helping me too. She's been playing a lot longer than I have. And I think she's actually a better pianist than I am. I have to work really hard to learn new music, but for her it seems to come much easier. That's the way it has always been.
Day 29
July 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Boy, that music Mom brought home is tough. I thought I'd be able to play it with only a little practice, but it's actually a lot harder than I thought. That's okay though, it just makes it more of a challenge for me. It has changes in tempo and key. Tempo is how fast you play the music. And the key is how the notes sound, either sharp, flat or natural.
Day 28
July 23, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm actually kind of bummed that my birthday is over already. It was so much fun getting ready and planning it. Then the scavenger hunt went by so fast. Now I feel like there isn't anything to do until school starts. Well, except for playing my keyboard that is. I haven't been able to practice very much lately. I think that's what I'll do this afternoon. Mom brought home some new sheet music I haven't played yet.
Day 27
July 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Wow! I think our scavenger hunt was too awesome! Each team had to complete 46 tasks and take pictures of all the team members doing each one. They were really funny too, like a picture of everybody trying to hide behind a tree. Then we had to walk up the stairs backwards, and ride a kiddie ride. The hardest one for my team was finding a salesman named Bob to take a picture with. We had to go from store to store reading everybody's nametags that worked there. What fun! After the hunt we all had pizza at this restaurant at the mall. I might even do a scavenger hunt again next year!
Day 26
July 18, 2008
Dear Diary, Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday to me! It's finally here. The scavenger hunt isn't for a few more hours, but I'm already getting excited to see all my friends. Mom and I have everything ready I think. Stephanie was a big help too. Mom and Dad said I can open my presents after the party. But I'm not even worried about presents right now. I just want to celebrate with my friends.
Day 25
July 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Only four more days till my birthday! I think birthdays are more fun than Christmas! My mom always goes all out to make sure it's a blast. We're still working on the last details for the mall scavenger hunt. I'm just hoping everything turns out okay and that we didn't mess anything up with our clues.
Day 24
July 10, 2008
Dear Diary, Tonight is sushi night. Instead of going out for dinner though, we're going to make it ourselves. Not sure about that. I usually don't like to cook. I just like to eat what other people make. But I'm willing to make the sacrifice if it means sushi, which is like my favorite!
Day 23
July 9, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, my birthday is only 9 days away! Mom and I figured out that each team will have two people. The cool thing is you don't have to buy the stuff on your list. But you do have to take pictures with everything you find on your list. Doesn't that sound awesome? We're still working on the lists of things to hunt for.
Day 22
July 5, 2008
Dear Diary, I finally decided what I want to do for my birthday. I want to have an ultimate mall scavenger hunt! There are a lot of mall scavenger hunts, so Mom and I have to figure out the rules, and how we're going to do it. But I'm so excited! I think it will be a lot of fun for everyone.
Day 21
July 2, 2008
Dear Diary, I can't believe my birthday is only a couple more weeks away. Mom keeps asking me what I want to do for my birthday, but I haven't thought of anything yet. I guess I better hurry up since it's almost here. But I want it to be something really cool. Better get thinking!
Day 20
June 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Now that Stephanie is back home, it seems normal around here again. She loves what Mom and I did with my bedroom, and now wants to paint her room too. That made me feel pretty good. I think she missed me too, even though she won't admit it. She wants to teach me a new card game she learned at camp, called Pounce. It sounds like fun.
Day 19
June 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I am so excited! My sister Stephanie comes home today from sleep away camp. I didn't think I'd miss her this much, but its been so quiet around here. Of course, I can't tell her how much I missed her. She might tease me! Anyways, now I'm just waiting to hear the van pull into our driveway. Hopefully it will soon.
Day 18
June 25, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm supposed to be sleeping right now, but I'm not. I have my little flashlight and I'm hiding under my blanket to write in my diary. Sometimes I like to read my books at night like this too. I know Dad said lights out, but somehow this seems fun. Lizzy is awake too. I can hear her moving around in her cage. She doesn't even need a flashlight!
Day 17
June 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, I'm sitting here in my new room. It really feels like a new room now that we're all done painting. We put lots of flowers and other island looking stuff to decorate. I think Stephanie will be really surprised to see it when she gets home. She'll be home next Sunday. I really do miss her.
Day 16
June 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I spent all day painting my room. The painting itself is okay. The fun part was listening to the radio and singing while we worked. We're almost done with the walls. It looks so totally different now. Poor Lizzy has been sleeping in her cage in the laundry room. I've been sleeping in Stephanie's room since she's still at camp.
Day 15
June 17, 2008
Dear Diary, I had such a hard time picking what color I wanted to paint my bedroom. Finally we decided to do a light blue color. I want to have a tropical theme. We even found a new comforter that has these big hibiscus flowers on it. So cute! We're going to start painting tomorrow.
Day 14
June 12, 2008
Dear Diary, The house is so quiet since my sister left for camp this week. Mom has been trying to keep me busy I think. Today she asked if I'd like to redecorate my room. It's been yellow for as long as I can remember. So this afternoon we're going to the paint store to see what colors we like. Then we're going to paint it together with my dad.
Day 13
June 9, 2008
Dear Diary, Bridget and I had so much fun Saturday night. We went for sushi. Bridget didn't like it very much, except for the fortune cookie. That's okay, at least she tried it. But afterwards, we hung out at my house. We listened to music and sang songs. Then we used my mom's curling iron and took turns doing each other's hair. I didn't know my hair could look so poofy!
Day 12
June 7, 2008
Dear Diary, It's Saturday. Mom said tonight I can have Bridget sleep over. Bridget and I met in school last year. We are in the same class and everything. I think my parents will probably take us out to dinner. I hope we go to the sushi place. I love California rolls. Bridget has never had sushi before, but she says she wants to try it.
Day 11
June 4, 2008
Dear Diary, My sister Stephanie is getting ready to go to sleep away camp. She'll be gone for 3 whole weeks. I didn't tell her, but I'm really going to miss her. Sure we fight sometimes, but we have fun together too. We play cards, and she helps me with my piano playing. You know, sister stuff. Now it'll just be me and Mom and Dad. Maybe the 3 weeks will go by fast.
Day 10
May 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I can't believe that tomorrow is already June first! This school year went by so fast, and pretty soon it will be my birthday! Sometimes I wish my birthday was during the school year. When you have a summer birthday, you always have to wait to see if it's going to rain. Sometimes your friends can't come to your party because they're away on vacation. Not sure yet what kind of party I'm going to have this year.
Day 9
May 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Last night was my piano recital. We got home so late that it was time for bed as soon as I got home. Anyways, I think I did pretty well. I didn't get too nervous, and it actually was a lot of fun. I think I only missed one chord, but nobody seemed to notice. Even my big sister Stephanie said I did a good job. Our next recital won't be until the fall.
Day 8
May 27, 2008
Dear Diary, There is a boy named Aiden in my class. He thought it would be really funny to stomp on a milk carton full of chocolate milk in the lunchroom today. It would have been funny, but a lot of the milk splashed on my new dress. I hope my mom can wash it out. At least Aiden said he was sorry.
Day 7
May 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Next week is my piano recital! I've been practicing really hard with my lessons. I get very excited to play in front of other people. But then, the day of the recital, I always get really nervous. I just don't want to mess up. I try not to look at anything but the piano, and that seems to help. We'll see.
Day 6
May 21, 2008
Dear Diary, Everybody kept asking me at school today why I got my hair cut. It's kind of embarassing. So I just made up a stupid story about how my mom made me because it's almost summer time. I made my sister Stephanie promise not to tell anyone at school what really happened. Hopefully it will grow back fast.
Day 5
May 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, sleeping with my gum in my mouth seemed like a good idea. I just put it inside my cheek. Then when I woke up this morning it was all stuck in my hair. My hair has been long for a while. My mom had to cut the gum out. Then I just wore the rest up in a ponytail. Today I have to go to the hair salon to get a new shorter haircut. All because of one piece of gum!
Day 4
May 18, 2008
Dear Diary, Sorry I couldn't write yesterday, but we were at the beach. My parents drove us over to see the Pacific Ocean. It's so beautiful! The water was still too cold for swimming, but we ran along the edge where the waves crashed. And it was so windy that we flew our kite. I hope we get to go back soon!
Day 3
May 15, 2008
Dear Diary, I have a pet guinea pig named Lizzy. She is the cutest! I am trying to teach her some tricks, like how to sit and lay down. She likes to nibble on grapes and celery. I use food to practice with her. She needs a lot of practice I think.
Day 2
May 13, 2008
Dear Diary, My piano teacher has been teaching me new songs to play for the recital. I love learning new music. It takes a lot of practice, but it's fun! I have lessons 2 days a week. Then my sister Stephanie helps me practice at home. Someday, maybe I'll be famous.
Day 1
May 10, 2008
Dear Diary, Today I went to the store and bought this pretty journal with my allowance money. It has flowers and butterflies all over it. I'm going to see if I can fill all the pages by the end of the summer. My sister Stephanie has a diary too, but she won't tell me where it is. Maybe I'll hide mine too.
