Skylar's Diary
Day 160
March 22, 2010
Dear Diary, Dance class tonight. I love dance, but I'm really tired today and kind of dreading it. I hope our teacher doesn't make us work too hard, but she usually does. Our recital is in May, so we have a lot of work to do. Oh, before I forget! Nana sold her house and is supposed to be moving here next month. Isn't that awesome?!?!
Day 159
March 13, 2010
Dear Diary, The park was a blast! We played boys against girls in freeze tag. It was all good until the end when Aiden's little sister puked all over herself on the swing. That was kind of nasty. I didn't go on the swings after that!
Day 158
March 11, 2010
Dear Diary, I'm so excited! Tomorrow, after school, we're meeting some friends at the park. They're friends from our old playgroup that we haven't seen in a long time. I've known them since I was a baby, but we don't get to see each other a lot since we all go to different schools now. I can't wait!
Day 157
March 4, 2010
Dear Diary, I kind of wanted to watch this scarey movie with my parents, but they said I'm not old enough. I don't like feeling scared, but I like scarey movies. Does that even make sense??? Anyways, I saw a minute of it when I got out of bed to use the bathroom, and they're probably right, it looked a little too scarey for me.
Day 156
February 26, 2010
Dear Diary, My ears will not stop ringing. They've been doing it all day, and I have no idea why. It's like the more quiet it is, the louder the ringing sound is. That makes no sense I know, but when I turn my music on I don't hear it.
Day 155
February 24, 2010
Dear Diary, There's a ladybug in my bedroom! At first it kind of freaked me out because I don't really like bugs, but then my mom told me that ladybugs are good luck. It's been on my ceiling since yesterday, hopefully I'll have good luck as long as she's here hanging out.
Day 154
February 17, 2010
Dear Diary, Dad is in a really bad mood. He's in the office working on his taxes, and I guess it's not going well. Every now and then I hear him talking to himself, and he doesn't sound very happy. Mom's idea is to go out to dinner so Dad can take a break, and I think that sounds like a good idea. I'm always up for going out to dinner-
Day 153
February 14, 2010
Dear Diary, Happy Love Day!!! Jaden is coming over later, she said she wants to bring me a present. Mom said she can stay for dinner too. I hope we have something delicious. And, now I have to go clean my room, which I hate, but it's really bad.
Day 152
February 7, 2010
Dear Diary, I'm so tired today. At least I don't have school since it's Sunday, but I just don't feel like doing anything. Madeline was awake screaming all night. Mom says she has an ear infection or something. Anyways, nobody in our house got to sleep last night. I tried to go sleep on the other side of the house, but even with a pillow over my head, I could hear my little sister. Uggh!
Day 151
February 4, 2010
Dear Diary, Wow! My nana just called and told my parents she's thinking of moving to Nevada. She said it makes her sad every time she leaves knowing that she could be here and see us all the time. That would be awesome! I really hope she does move here soon.
Day 150
January 31, 2010
Dear Diary, It's been raining all week it seems like. I like rain for a little while, but this is getting old. You can't do anything outside like this when it's cold and wet. I'm thinking I'll go practice some of the new dance steps we've been learning. Now that Madeline is awake, my mom won't mind the loud music.
Day 149
January 26, 2010
Dear Diary, I want to take Noodles outside, but it's kind of cold. Right now she's running around in her hamster ball all over the kitchen floor. It's much easier for her on the tile than it is in my room. She really goes fast! So while Noodles is getting her exercise, I'm having my snack. Sliced apples and peanut butter, yummy!
Day 148
January 21, 2010
Dear Diary, I'm so jealous! Jaden just got the coolest new cellphone. It's touch screen and everything. I wish I could have one like that, but it's not going to happen. I've only had my phone for a few months, my parents would never go for that. Maybe for my next birthday.
Day 147
January 13, 2010
Dear Diary, My room was so cold last night that I had to get up and put socks on in the middle of the night. It took me forever to fall asleep after that. No wonder I'm so tired and crabby today. Everybody better just stay away today.
Day 146
January 9, 2010
Dear Diary, Oh my gosh! I just saw a video on tv that a zoo on Japan has new baby lemurs. They are so adorable! I wish we could see them in real life. I love animals, maybe I'll be a vet someday. Either that, or a dancer. I have lots of time to decide I guess.
Day 145
January 4, 2010
Dear Diary, Tahoe was so cool! We went skiing. Well, my dad and I did anyway. Grandma stayed at the house with Mom and Madeline. It was kind of fun having my dad to myself. We don't get to do as much, just the two of us, as we used to. I miss that sometimes.
Day 144
December 28, 2009
Dear Diary, We're going to Tahoe for the rest of the week. Isn't that awesome? Nana says she's never been to Tahoe before. I think it's really beautiful. Well, time to go pack and get ready. We're leaving soon!
Day 143
December 24, 2009
Dear Diary, Tonight, when it got dark, we drove all around looking at all the lights and decorations. It was fun, and my mom had even brought popcorn for a snack. My mom always thinks of everything. Madeline was kind of fussy. I'm not sure she cared so much about the lights.
Day 142
December 18, 2009
Dear Diary, Nana is coming! She should be here next week, and she's staying for a whole month. Isn't that awesome?!?! Last time I saw her was over the summer when I went to stay with her in Tennessee. I hope she brings me a present. Nana usually does-
Day 141
December 15, 2009
Dear Diary, I saw my dad playing some new game on the computer and it looked pretty easy. You just move the gems around so you can get three in a row and get points. I asked him to let me try it, and it was way harder than it looked. You only get one minute to play, and I only got like 500 points. My dad can get 150,000 points!
Day 140
December 8, 2009
Dear Diary, We're toasting marshmallows in our fireplace after dinner. Yum, yum! I swear my parents plan to have dessert on nights they know I don't like what we're having. Tonight we're having chow mein, which I'm not a big fan of. But they know, and I know, that if I don't eat most of my dinner, no toasted marshmallows. Pretty sneaky, Mom and Dad!
Day 139
December 3, 2009
Dear Diary, It's kind of cold outside, but I still like to wear my sandals, so now my toes are frozen. It's kind of funny. Right now I'm wearing jeans and a hoodie with my flip-flops! My mom just looks at me and shakes her head.
Day 138
November 29, 2009
Dear Diary, I think Madeline's starting to get into my dance music. When I put it on in the family room to practice, she starts bouncing up and down while she's holding onto the couch, and she's all smiling. What a cutie! I wonder if she'll take dance one day...
Day 137
November 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Jaden wasn't kidding about the learning a new dance last Friday. It took a bunch of times for me to get it, but by the end of class, I think I got it down. Now I've just been practicing all weekend because I'm afraid if I don't that I'll forget it before class tomorrow!
Day 136
November 20, 2009
Dear Diary, Feeling better, and I'm so glad because I already missed one dance class this week, and I really don't want to miss another. Jaden said we're supposed to be learning a new routine for our recital, which is in December. Can't wait!
Day 135
November 15, 2009
Dear Diary, Do you know what today is? The day our class goes on our fieldtrip. And you know where I am? At home! I'm so disappointed, but I have this really bad cough and a fever now too. I was really thinking it would be a fun day, and now I'm stuck at home, and sick. There's not even anything good on tv to watch!
Day 134
November 12, 2009
Dear Diary, Our class is going on a field trip next week. We're going to the discovery museum. I've been there before, I think a couple years ago for a fieldtrip. I hope my mom can be a chaperone. She'd have to bring Madeline, but that's okay.
Day 133
November 3, 2009
Dear Diary, Halloween was so cool! We had a party at school on Friday, and then went trick or treating Saturday. I helped my dad make this vampire punch that actually bubbled and smoked because we put dry ice in it. Everybody loved it! I know Madeline isn't old enough yet to know what Halloween is all about, but we still had fun.
Day 132
October 27, 2009
Dear Diary, Madeline really likes my hamster Noodles. I have to really watch when she holds her though. Madeline doesn't understand yet that you have to be gentle with animals. I guess that's my job as big sister to teacher her. Noodles is so sweet that she doesn't seem to mind. I still want more animals though. How can I be a vet someday if I don't have lots of animal experience? At least a rabbit or something.
Day 131
October 23, 2009
Dear Diary, I went swimming after school, and the water is freezing! I really wish my parents would hurry up and get a pool heater. It stinks that the weather is nice outside, but you can't even go swimming. What am I supposed to do now?
Day 130
October 20, 2009
Dear Diary, I went to Jaden's house after school, and we played outside all the rest of the day. Well, except for when we ate dinner. It's so nice when it's not too hot and not too cold outside. Right now, this is perfect! We were practicing some of our dance routines too. Jaden's been helping me with some moves I've been having a hard time with.
Day 129
October 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Happy birthday Skylar! I don't feel a year older yet, but today is the day! We already celebrated over the weekend. I had so much fun going out to dinner with my friends. Dad said that tonight we'll have a birthday cake just for us after dinner. It's a carrot cake, and I love carrot cake-
Day 128
October 9, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so excited that all my friends are coming with us for my birthday tomorrow night. Well, my real birthday isn't until Wednesday, but we thought it would be more fun to go on the weekend when there's no homework or dance class. Yeah!!!
Day 127
October 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Can you believe my birthday is only 9 more days away? My mom was asking me what I want to do this year. I think we're just going to go out to dinner with a bunch of my friends. There's this fancy Mexican restaurant I love downtown. They have the best fajitas. I'm allowed to invite 4 friends, so I better start calling them tonight!
Day 126
September 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I really, really wanted a pair of those shoes that have the wheels on the bottom. You know, the ones you can walk or skate in? My mom said no way. She also said they're expensive, and something about my feet growing way too fast. That stinks! My cousin Kendall has them, and they're awesome!
Day 125
September 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom brought me home the coolest thing from the store. It's a huge book full of stickers of animals and insects, and cool stuff. The stickers are actually from photos, so they look real. I love it! I think it will take me forever to use all those.
Day 124
September 20, 2009
Dear Diary, Yeah, the waterfall is done and we're back to swimming again! The waterfall even has this ledge across the top to jump off of into the pool. It rocks! Jaden came over this afternoon and helped me test it out. She loved it too.
Day 123
September 16, 2009
Dear Diary, Kind of bummed we can use our pool right now. May parents are putting a waterfall in, and so they drained the pool part way, and the water's really nasty now. All I want to do after dance class is come home and cool off in the pool. Dad said they lbe done in a couple of days.
Day 122
September 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm glad we had the day off from school yesterday, but now I'm all messed up. I keep thinking it's Monday, but it's really Tuesday. So I keep thinking dance class is tomorrow, but it's really today. I'll figure it out by Friday-
Day 121
September 5, 2009
Dear Diary, We're going to some football party tonight. My dad is in some fantasy football league and they're having a kick-off party for all the families. I'm hoping there will be some kids there my age, but I don't know. Madeline is staying with the babysitter since we'll be home so late. I get to stay up way past my bedtime!
Day 120
August 31, 2009
Dear Diary, School was good after we made it through the car circle. It took forever because there were so many cars! Jaden and I aren't in the same class, but our classes are right next to each other. And we can still see each other in lunch and p.e. Got to go, we have to go shopping for school stuff.
Day 119
August 25, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom is disappointed because I want to walk into school by myself on the first day. I guess she thought they would walk me to my class. I know where to go, so I said she could just drop me off in the car circle. It's not like it's a big deal or anything. School starts Monday!
Day 118
August 17, 2009
Dear Diary, Noodles scared me last night! I had taken her out of her cage so I could clean it. I usually put her in her ball to run around, but this time I just let her run around my room on her own. Well, when I turned around she was gone! I looked all around my room and finally found her behind my bed. What a troublemaker!
Day 117
August 12, 2009
Dear Diary, Jaden and I went iceskating yesterday. It's been awhile since the last time we went iceskating. But, it's too hot outside to play, and this seemed like the perfect way to stay cool. We were there forever because they were playing good music, and we saw other kids from school. But now I have this enormous blister on my foot! I'm afraid it's going to pop when I walk on it. Yuck!
Day 116
August 6, 2009
Dear Diary, My parents can be so strict sometimes. I wanted to join this website where you can talk to your friends and post pictures, but they won't let me. They both said I'm not old enough and that they don't want me talking to strangers online. I told them I only wanted to chat with my friends, but the answer was still no.
Day 115
August 4, 2009
Dear Diary, I had such an awesome time with Nana in Tennessee! But I did miss my parents, and Madeline. I brought home a bag of rock candy and new clothes, and all kinds of stuff Nana and I found in Gatlinburg. I wish Nana lived closer so we could see her all the time. She said maybe she'll come to Nevada over winter break. I hope!
Day 114
July 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Only two more days until I go back home to Nevada. I thought I was going to be here for so long, but it has gone by really fast. I want to go to Cades Cove one more time and see the pretty waterfalls and look for bears again. We've only seen one so far, so hopefully we'll get lucky.
Day 113
July 23, 2009
Dear Diary, Nana and I found an outlet mall. I wanted to find something to bring home for Madeline, so I bought her this cute stuffed giraffe. And then I had some rock candy. I've never had rock candy before, but it was pretty good. Really sweet, and made my whole mouth blue.
Day 112
July 16, 2009
Dear Diary, There's this really awesome waterpark Nana and I went to. It's all indoors! Nana didn't want to go down the big waterslides, but she watched me do it about 100 times. We did float along the lazy river together. After dinner I'm going to call my mom and dad and tell them I'm having fun, but I miss them too. And I even miss my little sister Madeline.
Day 111
July 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Cades Cove was a lot further away than I thought it would be, but it was worth it. It was so different than anything I've ever seen in Nevada. We saw a lot of deer and a couple of bears out there. It's so different than seeing animals in the zoo. These were wild animals! I can't to see what else we'll do-
Day 110
July 9, 2009
Dear Diary, The plane ride out to Tennessee wasn't so bad. I hate flying, especially when the ride is bumpy. But I've never been to Gatlinburg before, so I'm very excited to do everything! So far, Nana and I went to the village to do some shopping and went to the Ripley's Museum. Tomorrow we're going to drive out to Cades Cove. It's supposed to be really pretty out there.
Day 109
July 5, 2009
Dear Diary, We stayed up really late last night watching my neighbors set off fireworks. They were so loud I had to cover my ears sometimes! But it was a lot of fun. Dad had a bunch of those pop rock ones, and they're fun too. Anyways, I hope we're not doing anything today, I just want to do nothing all day-
Day 108
June 30, 2009
Dear Diary, Tonight was so cool! Mom sewed my costume so it would fit me. And I think our show went perfect! We even got a standing ovation when we finished! And my dad brought me flowers that he gave me after the show. So much fun, but now I'm exhausted and I'm going to bed, as soon as I can take off all this stage makeup!
Day 107
June 27, 2009
Dear Diary, What a disaster! Our recital costumes just got here, finally. The colors aren't exactly what we picked, and a lot of them came in the wrong size, including mine! We don't have time to send them back either since our recital is Tuesday night. My mom says she thinks she can fix mine so it's not so big on me. She's pretty good at sewing. I hope it will work!
Day 106
June 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I think I've finally got our new dance routine memorized. Now I just practice it over and over because I love it! Our recital is coming up in a couple of weeks, and I want to be ready. Our costumes should be coming any day now, and I can't wait to see them!
Day 105
June 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and I tried playing a new board game after dinner. It's called "Operation", and is way harder than you think. You have to use these little tweezers to pull out pretend bones and other parts from the board that looks like a man. If you touch the sides then the buzzer rings. It seemed like that buzzer was going off every time I tried!
Day 104
June 10, 2009
Dear Diary, I get to go to Nana's for a whole month this summer! My parents just told me about it. It's not until July, but I am so excited. She lives in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I'm going to go call Jaden to tell her!
Day 103
June 7, 2009
Dear Diary, I've been swimming in the pool a lot lately, and now I have this rash on my face. It's like all these little red bumps. Mom says it's probably from the chlorine in the pool. Yeah for me. Hopefully this cream will make it go away, it looks awful!
Day 102
May 30, 2009
Dear Diary, What a great day! My parents actually left Madeline with the babysitter and just the three of us went to the zoo. It feels like forever since the last time we went. I had a lot of fun, and loved the wallaby exhibit. There's a new little wallaby, and he was adorable! I told my parents maybe next time we could bring Madeline, but that sometimes it might be fun to come without her.
Day 101
May 21, 2009
Dear Diary, He's home! He's home! I missed my daddy more than I've ever missed him. Before when he would go away on trips for work my mom and I would go shopping, and go to the zoo. You know, just the two of us. But now that Madeline's here that's different. I love Madeline, but sometimes I miss having my mom and dad all to myself.
Day 100
May 16, 2009
Dear Diary, How soon is Dad coming home? Soon I hope! It's kind of crazy around here. The house is a mess, and I'm trying to help, but I don't always know what I'm supposed to do. I think my mom figures it's just easier to try to do everything herself. One thing I did tonight that I was very proud of was making dinner. It wasn't anything fancy, just cheese quesadillas and I cooked some broccoli. Mom said it was delicious and seemed to really appreciate my help. Finally I did something!
Day 99
May 14, 2009
Dear Diary, My dad's gotta go out of town for a few days for work. That means it's just Mom, Madeline and me. Dad already gave me a talk about making sure I help my mom as much as I can. Like I didn't already know that!
Day 98
May 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm giving Noodles a bath. She's kind of stinky. I clean her cage all the time, but it doesn't seem to matter. When I'm done I think I'll take her outside for a little while to play in the grass. Better go get everything ready-
Day 97
May 4, 2009
Dear Diary, I went with my mom after school today to take Madeline in for her doctor's appointment. Babies get lots of checkups. Madeline was happy and smiling until it was time for her shots. I felt so bad for her when she was crying. At least she didn't cry for a long time. Poor thing!
Day 96
April 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I never knew that my dad can draw. He saw me having a hard time on my project and gave me a few ideas to make it easier for me to draw the animals. I wish someday I could draw like he does. His pictures look good enough to be in a book!
Day 95
April 25, 2009
Dear Diary, We have this project to do for school where we have to draw animals that live in the rainforest. I keep starting over because I don't like the way mine looks so far. I'm very picky. My spider monkey looks like a cat! I'm going to run out of time pretty soon. They're due next Friday.
Day 94
April 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I finally got the guts to talk to Jordan about being late all the time to dance class, and she was totally cool about it. She said she was sorry, that she just has a hard time getting ready on time. But, she did promise me that she'll really really try to do better from now on. We'll see-
Day 93
April 14, 2009
Dear Diary, I brought Rocky, our class guinea pig, home last weekend. I hope Noodles wasn't jealous! I wish I could have a whole house full of pets. Someday maybe I'll even have a farm! But Mom says no more pets for a while, especially now that we have Madeline.
Day 92
April 7, 2009
Dear Diary, Well, I talked it over with my dad. He said I need to let Jordan know in a nice way that I don't want to be late to dance class anymore, and give her a chance. Then if she's still always late he agreed that we can stop carpooling. I think that's a good idea. Now I just have to bring it up to Jordan...
Day 91
April 4, 2009
Dear Diary, Jordan always makes us late to dance class. Usually it's only a couple of minutes, but yesterday we missed the entire warmup! I love Jordan, but I'm thinking of asking my parents if they can just take me to dance by myself instead of carpooling with Jordan's parents. I think Jordan would understand, since she knows she has trouble being on time anywhere!
Day 90
March 29, 2009
Dear Diary, I have this fundraiser to do for school, and my cousin already beat me to it! I was going to email everyone in our family to see if they would order some cookie dough, and Kendall already sent out an email to everyone I was sending it out to! Well, at least I can still try our next door neighbors. Mom says no more cookie dough since we still have some in the freezer from last year-
Day 89
March 24, 2009
Dear Diary, Finally I'm starting to feel a little better. I hate being sick! I had to miss school, dance, seeing my friends and holding Madeline. Yeah, even laying around and watching tv gets boring after awhile.
Day 88
March 18, 2009
Dear Diary, Now I can't even go near Madeline. I have strep throat! Mom is being fanatical about the germs and she's all worried the baby's going to get it too. I hope not! I'm trying to stay totally away from her. But I miss getting to hold my baby sister. Hopefully I'll feel better soon!
Day 87
March 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Poor Noodles. I've been so busy lately hanging out with Madeline. I feel like I haven't hardly spent any time with Noodles. And of course I can't bring my pet hamster around the baby. Mom and Dad wouldn't like that. I think I'm going to take Noodles out and let her run around in her ball while I do some homework-
Day 86
March 5, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so glad it has been warmer the last couple of days. If I dress warm enough, I can even play outside. Jaden and I were practicing some of our dance out there with the cd player. After a while though we start getting goofy. Jaden always starts dancing funny, making funny faces, and then we're both laughing! She cracks me up-
Day 85
March 4, 2009
Dear Diary, I cannot believe how much babies can cry. Don't get me wrong, I love little Madeline. I just didn't know how much she would cry. But when she's not crying, and I get to hold her, I think that's the best. She is the most beautiful little baby, but don't tell Jaden I said that since she has a little baby sister too!
Day 84
February 26, 2009
Dear Diary, I don't know where my brain is sometimes! That paper I was all worried about printing out when my printer ran out of ink? I thought it was due yesterday, but it's not due until tomorrow. I accidentally made my dad run out for ink like it was an emergency for nothing. I think I'll keep that a secret!
Day 83
February 24, 2009
Dear Diary, I was trying to print out a paper I had to write for school, and our printer just ran out of ink! And of course it's due tomorrow. I guess I better ask my dad if we can run to the store real quick. Be back later!
Day 82
February 16, 2009
Dear Diary, No dance class tonight! I had no idea the studio would be closed for President's Day. The mall is still open, why not everything else? We even had school today. I was really looking forward to learning some new moves too. I'll just have to wait until Thursday-
Day 81
February 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Little Madeline is so cute! I swear she smiled at me today, but Mom said she's not old enough to smile yet. Now that it's the weekend, I get to see her all day. I can't wait till spring gets here so we can take Madeline for walks in the park, and take her to the zoo. We're going to have so much fun together!
Day 80
February 7, 2009
Dear Diary, My lips are so chapped from the cold weather. I keep wiping them with my shirt sleeve, but that only seems to make them worse. Now I have this red looking mustache above my lip. How embarassing! Mom says I just need to put some vaseline on it and stop rubbing it. I'm not sure what looks worse, the red lip, or having a shiny vaseline mustache!
Day 79
February 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Nana flew back home today. She said that now that we're all settled in with Madeline here, it was time for her to go back home. It was fun having Nana here for so long. I hope she'll come stay with us again like that. Better go, Jaden and her mom are going to be here any minute to pick me up for dance class. I hope we don't have a substitute teacher like we did last time.
Day 78
January 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Our house has been a little crazy lately. Now that Mom and Dad are home from the hospital with little Madeline, we're all busy. Nana is staying for another couple of weeks to help out. I try to help too. When Madeline needs a diaper change or a burp cloth, I go get what my mom needs. I'm excited that tomorrow is Friday, so that then I can be home all weekend with Madeline. I miss her when I'm at school!
Day 77
January 24, 2009
Dear Diary, My baby sister is here! Madeline was born yesterday. She weighs 7 pounds and 13 ounces, and is 21 inches long. Nana took me to the hospital last night so I could meet her. We stopped in the gift shop and bought Madeline a little pink teddy bear. I can't believe how tiny she is! I'm so happy to finally have a baby sister, just like I've always wanted!
Day 76
January 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Looks like today may finally be the big day! When I woke up for school this morning, Mom and Dad were already gone to the hospital. Nana said they went in the middle of the night while I was still asleep. No chance of me getting to stay home from school though to wait. Nana said Jaden's dad was taking me to school. Now I'm just waiting for the phone to ring!
Day 75
January 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Every day I come home from school I ask Mom and Dad if today is the day that my baby sister will be born. They just laugh and say, "we'll see." Is it so wrong that I just wish Madeline would hurry up and get here? My friend Jaden says I shouldn't be in such a rush, that babies cry a lot and make lots of stinky diapers. I'm willing to put up with all of that.
Day 74
January 8, 2009
Dear Diary, My back is much better now, and only hurts when I twist at the waist. Dance class is tonight, so I think I'll be alright to go. I never like to miss. We learn new steps pretty much every week, and they're so much fun to learn!
Day 73
January 2, 2009
Dear Diary, What a day! I was late getting to dance class this afternoon because I was late getting ready and I fell in my closet and tried to catch myself on the clothes hanging in there. I ended up hurting my back a little, but then it seemed fine. Well, now that dance class is over my back really hurts. I'm such a clutz sometimes!
Day 72
December 29, 2008
Dear Diary, Painting really is a lot harder than it looks! But I think we did a really good job, and Nana agreed, which is saying a lot, since she's pretty picky. Dad also surprised my mom with this adorable baby sleeping on a moon that he had painted for the nursery. My mom loved it so much I think she cried! I'm getting really excited to meet my new baby sister!
Day 71
December 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Little Madline must be getting anxious to be born. The doctor said my mom is starting to show signs that she may go into labor soon. It's still a little bit early, but Dad says I was born early too. We've decided to go ahead an paint Madeline's nursery this weekend. It's going to be a moon and stars them with pretty lavendar and light green. How cool!
Day 70
December 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, I swear this is the coldest its ever been in December. We've had snow and it seems like it's cold every day now. That means we haven't been to the zoo. At least I can go to the studio to dance a lot since it's nice and warm in there. Practice is good, it helps me get better, right?
Day 69
December 16, 2008
Dear Diary, I got to feel baby Madeline move today! You can actually see my mom's tummy move a little bit when the baby is moving too. That is so cool! I can't wait for Madline to get here next month so I can actually have a sister. I can help Mom feed her and change her diaper, and all that other stuff. Well, as long as she's not crying anyway.
Day 68
December 7, 2008
Dear Diary, This weekend I got to bring home our class pet, a guinea pig named Rocky. Finally! I've been waiting for my turn since school started. I put Rocky's cage right next to Noodle's so they can keep each other company. I know Noodles is a hamster and Rocky is a guinea pig, but that's okay, hopefully they can still be friends. Speaking of pets, I think I'm going to go take Rocky out and let him run around a little bit.
Day 67
December 4, 2008
Dear Diary, I really like having Nana here. I think Mom and Dad do too. And she's going to stay until the baby comes in January! But the exciting news is that we picked a name for the baby. It's Madeline! Which I really like, because then we can call her Maddie. Jaden's little sister Anna is getting bigger already. When I asked Jaden what it was like having a baby sister she said it's fun except for the crying and diapers.
Day 66
November 26, 2008
Dear Diary, Nana's here! Nana's here! Dad and I are going to be busy today in the kitchen, helping Nana get started for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Nana said she'll teach me how to make a pumpkin pie from scratch. We usually get ours frozen in a box, so that should be fun! It's so nice not having school for the rest of the week...
Day 65
November 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Jaden's mom had the baby! It's a little girl named Anna. I wish we'd hurry up and pick a name for our baby. Anyways, Jaden missed dance today so she could go to the hospital with her dad to meet her little sister. I guess that's a good enough reason to miss dance class, isn't it?
Day 64
November 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Nana is actually coming! She'll be here for Thanksgiving, and then she's staying until after the baby comes. The baby will probably be born early, in January. I'm just so excited that Nana is going to be staying with us for a while!
Day 63
November 10, 2008
Dear Diary, One nice thing about Mom being on bed rest, is that she's home all the time. We sit and read books together, and play card games like 'Go Fish" and "Crazy Eights". It's actually a lot of fun getting to hang out with her so much. I love my mom.
Day 62
November 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad and I went walking tonight around the neighborhood. It's not something we do a lot, but the weather has been so much cooler lately that it seemed like a good idea. He was asking me what I think about having a baby sister. I love it! I just hope they hurry up and pick a name so we can stop saying "her" and "it".
Day 61
November 2, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad made this really interesting dinner tonight. Interesting is a nice way of saying gross. I know he's trying hard since Mom is resting, but taco soup? Couldn't we just have tacos? I love my dad, really I do, but he's not as good a cook as Mom is. Just don't tell him I said that!
Day 60
October 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm kind of sad that my mom won't be able to come around with us trick or treating tonight. Bed rest means bed rest I guess. I told her I'd just stay home with her, but she said no way. We're just going to go around the block, and then come home to hand out candy, since Mom can't really answer the door every time the doorbell rings.
Day 59
October 26, 2008
Dear Diary, Last night I had my birthday party. I was allowed to have four friends come over for a sleepover. Dad ordered pizza for us and we had a lot of fun listening to music and dancing around. Then my parents surprised me with an icecream cake. It was awesome! I don't think we went to sleep till way past midnight.
Day 58
October 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad and I had to take Noodles to the vet today. Lately we noticed that her teeth were getting really long. It seemed like she was having a hard time eating her food. The vet said hamster's teeth never stop growing, so you have to give them something hard to gnaw on, like dog biscuits. Anyways, the vet trimmed them with special clippers this one time. At least now I know how to keep Noodles teeth from getting too big again!
Day 57
October 20, 2008
Dear Diary, It's a girl!!! I actually got to see my baby sister on the ultrasound which was kind of freaky. But I was so happy to see her! Now we only have to wait like 4 more months for her to get here. I can't wait!
Day 56
October 19, 2008
Dear Diary, I am sooooo excited! Tomorrow we get to go to the doctor's office and find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. I still think I don't care which one we have. I'll take either! I'm just really excited to find out, then Dad and I can paint the baby's room either pink or blue. I'll let you know!
Day 55
October 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Happy Birthday to me! Happy Birthday to me! I can't believe it's here already. We didn't really have a chance to plan with everything going on with the baby and all so instead of this weekend, we're celebrating next weekend on the 25th. Or at least my party with my friends is next weekend. Daddy promised that tonight I can have whatever I want for dinner as long as they do take-out. I pick Chinese!
Day 54
October 10, 2008
Dear Diary, We're going out to dinner tonight. Mom said she wants to get out of the house a lot this weekend before she has to stay home. I guess that's what bed rest means, you have to rest all the time, even when you don't feel tired. Mom said she had to do the same thing before I was born, and I came a little early.
Day 53
October 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and the baby are doing good, but the doctor still wants Mom to be on bed rest starting next Monday. I guess she is going to work from home using her laptop. The good news is Nana is coming to stay with us for a few months to help! I finally got to feel the baby move, and it was really weird. I can't wait for the appointment next week when we find out if the baby is a boy or girl.
Day 52
October 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Oh my gosh! I totally forgot that I have this book report due tomorrow. I haven't even finished reading the book yet. Okay, actually I haven't even started it yet! I just kind of forgot, and the book was under a pile of papers on my desk in my bedroom. I better hurry, or Mom is going to be mad!
Day 51
October 2, 2008
Dear Diary, Noodles kept me awake a lot last night. I could hear her running around in her wheel. Dad says Noodles does that because hamsters are nocturnal, which means they like to be awake at night and sleep in the daytime. Thank goodness she doesn't do that every night, but once in a while I hear her. And when I turn the light on to check on her, she just kind of looks at me like "hey, you're awake, let's play!"
Day 50
September 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Jaden is coming over for dinner before we go to dance class. We're going to play with Noodles too. I love to watch Noodles run all around my room and see where she goes. Mom's not crazy about her being out of her cage, in case she has an accident, but Noodles needs her exercise. Time for homework before Jaden gets here.
Day 49
September 26, 2008
Dear Diary, Sometimes it's hard being a perfectionist. If I'm drawing a picture and something doesn't look quite right then I want to star all over with a brand new piece of paper. It's kind of frustrating. I just can't stand it when something doesn't look exactly the way I want it to. Even when I'm dancing, if I mess up on a step, then I want to start the music over from the beginning and get it perfect. Ugh!
Day 48
September 24, 2008
Dear Diary, My birthday is coming up in October. October 14th. Not sure what we're going to do to celebrate my birthday yet, but maybe I should starting asking my parents. I would be happy just having a bunch of my friends spend the night. Ooh, time to get ready for dance class, I'm going to be late!
Day 47
September 23, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom tried to let me feel the baby moving today. She had me put my hand on her stomach, but I couldn't feel anything, even though I sat very still. I was a little sad, because I really want to feel the baby kicking. Mom says there will be plenty of time. And pretty soon we get to start decorating the nursery. Dad says maybe I can even help him paint the baby's room.
Day 46
September 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Jaden came over today, and we worked on our posters together. I think her poster looks way better than mine, but she can draw really, really good. I tried to draw myself dancing, but that was hard. I think the picture I colored of Noodles turned out pretty good though. The teacher said we have to draw and color the pictures ourselves, that we aren't allowed to just print pictures from the computer.
Day 45
September 18, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm working on this class assignment called "All About Me". You have to make a poster that tells all about your life from the time you were born until now. I had to get out my baby album since obviously I don't remember being a baby! Some of the things written down in there are pretty funny, like that I used to say "pea-ketch" for ketchup! And I also used to say "hanga-burger" for hamburger. How cute!
Day 44
September 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom went in for another checkup for the baby yesterday. The doctor said in another few weeks she'll have to go on bedrest. That means no more working or running around. The good news is the baby is growing and looks healthy. By next month we should find out if the baby is a boy or girl. That will be fun! Mom said I can go to the ultrasound and see the baby too.Day 43
September 9, 2008
Dear Diary, I wanted to play outside after school today, but it's just too hot. The only thing I can stand to do outside right now is swimming in the pool. And even the pool is starting to feel like swimming in a bathtub-yuck! I can't wait for it to cool down just a little bit. Mom's calling me for dinner, gotta go-
Day 42
September 7, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so happy we got to go back to the zoo yesterday! I have to be honest though, I couldn't pick Fred my flamingo out in the big group they had at the exhibit. Even though I brought his picture with me, they all looked the same! Well, it's the thought that counts. At least I'm still helping to take care of him since I adopted him.
Day 41
September 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Its been so hot lately that we haven't been to the zoo in a while. Dad says maybe this weekend we can go, just the two of us. I haven't seen my flamingo in a while. I wonder if I'll still recognize him. Hopefully. I wish Mom could come too, but she has been so tired lately, and the doctor still wants her to take it easy.
Day 40
August 31, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad and I decided to pamper my mom so she could relax and take it easy. So she propped her feet up on a pillow. I made her iced tea while Dad made her favorite snack, crackers with tapenade. It's this mixture of olives, capers, pine nuts, and a bunch of other ingredients I can't even pronounce. Mom loves it. Then we massaged her feet. Or at least I helped until me hands got too tired.
Day 39
August 28, 2008
Dear Diary, After dance class tonight I'm going over to Jaden's house for dinner. We're going to have pizza I think. Yummy! Anyways, I hope our dance instructor has some good music for class tonight. Sometimes she picks this old music that I've never heard before.
Day 38
August 26, 2008
Dear Diary, So far so good. School has been pretty easy since there hasn't been much homework yet. And no tests or quizzes yet either. I know that will change soon though. Our class has a pet guinea pig named Rocky. We get to take turns bringing him home over the weekends. I can't wait for my turn!
Day 37
August 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Our family has been so busy with baby stuff that the first day of school just kind of snuck up on me! Tomorrow is the big day and I'm pretty excited! I want to do really good this year. I did pretty good last year, but I'm going to try harder. Besides, I know I have to keep my grades up or I won't be allowed to dance.
Day 36
August 18, 2008
Dear Diary, The good news is that mom and the baby are okay. The bad news is that the doctor said mom will probably have to be on bed rest soon for the rest of the pregnancy. I guess bed rest means you have to lay around a lot and can't lift anything heavy. Mom said that's okay if that's what she has to do. I'm just relieved to hear that everything is okay.
Day 35
August 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom had to rush to the doctor's office this morning. She said it was nothing, but she looked worried. Dad and I are at home waiting for her to come back. I hope everything is okay with the baby.
Day 34
August 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, I love my friend Jaden, but she has some pretty nasty habits. Okay, one nasty habit. When she was at my house, she sat on the floor and started biting her toenails. That's what clippers are for I told her. She smiled and said something about being flexible. I was totally grossed out!
Day 33
August 8, 2008
Dear Diary, Finally our pool is all done being resurfaced. Now there's water back in it and we can start swimming tomorrow the guy said. Yeah! Jaden is going to come over and swim too. I think our moms will hang out and talk baby stuff while we swim.
Day 32
August 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom went to the doctor today for her baby appointment. She said pretty soon I should be able to feel the baby move when I touch her tummy. That is so cool! I noticed Mom didn't eat very much dinner tonight. I don't think she was feeling very well. She said some days she feels nauseous and that makes it harder for her to eat.
Day 31
August 1, 2008
Dear Diary, Jaden thought I was joking when I told her about the baby. Then we were both jumping up and down all excited. I know she's having a baby sister, but I don't care what we have. If it's a boy or girl, it doesn't matter to me. I'm just happy that I'm finally going to be a big sister to somebody!
Day 30
July 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Holy cow! I thought my parents were sitting me down to tell me I was in trouble or something. But they both kept smiling at me. Dad said, "What is the one thing you've been asking us for?" I still didn't get it. All I could think about was that I had asked for a rabbit. And that's when my mom told me that I couldn't get a rabbit. "But", she said, "You can have a brother or sister though!" I'm still in shock! I'm going to be a big sister! I can't wait to tell Jaden. We're both going to be big sisters!
Day 29
July 25, 2008
Dear Diary, I wish I could sleep with my hamster Noodles. She is so soft to cuddle with. Unfortunately she would never stay still in my bed all through the night. She's always awake at night.
Day 28
July 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad was giving me a hard time earlier about my music. He wonders why I have to keep playing the same song over and over again. I told him that's because I have to practice my dance. Then he asked if I can just practice without playing the music. I guess it was too loud or something. How can you dance without music? I'd be totally lost in my steps. Some people may be able to do that but not me.
Day 27
July 21, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay, this whole baby thing has me kind of freaked out! I know Mom and Dad didn't say we're having another baby yet...but they did say soon. I've always wanted a baby sister or brother. But that would be really weird too. I've always been the only kid in the family. It's always been just the three of us. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
Day 26
July 17, 2008
Dear Diary, My mom and dad sometimes think I'm ignoring them when they talk to me. I really don't. But if I have my music on, and I'm busy dancing or singing, then I don't hear anything else. Then my mom will walk right up to me till her face is right next to mine and just look at me. It usually makes me jump. Can I help it that I'm concentrating on my music?
Day 25
July 12, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so bummed that we can't use our pool for the next couple of weeks. We're getting it resurfaced, whatever that means. And now there's not even any water in it. This is summer and it's over 100 degrees outside. I hope they hurry up. I can't wait to go swimming again. Especially after dance classes when I feel so hot.
Day 24
July 9, 2008
Dear Diary, Ohmigosh! I was talking to my mom about how jealous I am that Jaden's family is having another baby and we're not. Mom said, "maybe someday soon." Soon? How soon is soon? She wouldn't say anything else. When I asked my dad he said "ask your mother." That was no help at all.
Day 23
July 8, 2008
Dear Diary, My friend Jaden found out that the baby is a girl. That would be so much fun to have a little sister that you could dress up. Kind of like a doll. As long as I didn't have to change the diapers or anything.
Day 22
July 4, 2008
Dear Diary, I get so grumpy when I'm tired. If today is the 4th of July, why did some people in our neighborhood set fireworks off last night? I don't really care, except that they were really really loud, and it was sooooo late. I guess that makes me a party pooper.
Day 21
July 1, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm spending the night at Jaden's tonight after dance class. It's sooooo fun now that we are in the same dance class. She's still learning a lot of the steps, but then we get to practice together at home too. Anyways, we're going to have chicken wings for dinner, yummy!
Day 20
June 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I miss Fred, my flamingo. I have his picture up on my wall, but I only get to see him when I go to the zoo. It's not like I can see him every day. I'm going to ask if we can go sometime next week. That way I can check on him and see how he's doing.
Day 19
June 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, at least my dance instructor has noticed. After class today, he said that I'm really improving my technique. Hopefully all that work is finally paying off. I love to dance, don't get me wrong. I just want to be the best. Mom says I'm just being a perfectionist, and that I shouldn't be so hard on myself.
Day 18
June 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Sometimes dancing can be frustrating. I guess I'm not one of those people that dancing is easy for. I have to practice my steps and routines a lot to get them on tempo and perfect. Other girls have it so easy. They seem like they never practice. Almost like they don't even have to try. I wish it was that easy for me.
Day 17
June 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm going over to Jaden's house today. We're going to go swimming and practice our dancing. I love to play Marco Polo in the pool. Sometimes I start laughing so hard I can't swim! It's fun trying to catch the person with your eyes closed. When Jaden is it, I try to splash her so she knows where I am. Then when she gets close, I swim way under her.
Day 16
June 19, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm kind of liking my room being all neat now. It was not fun cleaning it, but now I'm trying to keep it that way. This morning I even rearranged my furniture. I get bored keeping it the same way all the time. So now I have my bed diagonal in the corner of the room.
Day 15
June 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Tonight we are going out to dinner for dad's day. We're going to this restaurant that has the best hamburgers I've ever had. Before we go though, Mom says my room has to be totally clean. Usually I just hide everything under my bed and shove things in the closet. But my mom says she's onto me and this time it's going to be a real cleanup. Time to get rid of some of my old toys and clothes that don't fit anymore. We're going to box it up for one of the local charities.
Day 14
June 10, 2008
Dear Diary, It seems weird now that school is out that I wait all day to go to dance class. I'm so used to rushing home from school and getting ready to go right away. I love summer! Noodles is running all around my room in his plastic ball. He rolls in it from one wall to the next. I think he likes being in there.Day 13
June 8, 2008
Dear Diary, Jaden is coming over today so we can go swimming. We see each other even more now that Jaden started taking dance classes at the same studio as me. The best part is now we can practice our dance together at each other's houses too. Well, I better get my room cleaned before she gets here. Noodles pushed a bunch of wood chips out of his cage, and they're all over the floor now.Day 12
June 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Fred. I have decided to name my flamingo Fred. I don't know if it's a boy or a girl. I guess if I find out it's a girl, then I can change it to Fredericka. I hung the picture of Fred up on my bulletin board. I wonder when I can go back to the zoo and see him again. It may be hard to tell which one is mine. All the flamingos look the same to me!
Day 11
June 1, 2008
Dear Diary, Yesterday my family and I went to the Southern Nevada Zoo. The best part was when my dad surprised me with an adoption application. He said I could pick one of the animals to adopt. I picked a West Indian Flamingo. They are on the endangered species list. I thought this might be a good way to help. I don't get to adopt one to take home. But I do get a certificate and picture of my flamingo, with a list of flamingo facts.
Day 10
May 29, 2008
Dear Diary, No dance class today, but I do have a lot of homework to do. How can teachers give homework when school is out in a couple more weeks? At least my mom doesn't make me start my homework the second I get home. I usually have something to eat and hang out with Noodles and my mom first. But sooner or later I have to get it done. My books are waiting for me on my desk. Guess it's time to get it over with. Then at least I might have time before dinner to ride my bike.
Day 9
May 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I love having my hamster Noodles. But I'm a girl who loves animals, lots of animals. I keep asking my parents to let me get another pet. I'd love to get a bunny or a dog. So far they're not saying yes. I take good care of Noodles. I can be responsible to take care of another pet too. Hopefully they'll let me soon.
Day 8
May 25, 2008
Dear Diary, In the summer it gets very hot here in Nevada. Sometimes over 100 degrees. Thank goodness we have a pool to cool off in. I've heard that when it gets really super hot that you can fry an egg on the sidewalk. I don't think my mom would be too happy about an egg on our sidewalk, but that's pretty cool.
Day 7
May 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Jaden is so lucky! Her mom and dad just told her they're having another baby. Jaden's going to be a big sister! She already has an older brother too. I wish I could have a brother or sister too. When I ask my parents, they just say we'll see. It's not a no, but it doesn't mean yes.Day 6
May 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I wish I could go to dance class every day. Mom says two days a week is enough. She says I have school to think about too. Maybe when I get older I can take more classes. I just love all the music and it's sooooo much fun learning new steps to the songs. My friend Jaden wants to start taking dance classes too. That would be really cool if we could be in class together!
Day 5
May 19, 2008
Dear Diary, School is almost over and our teacher just assigned a book report! I am okay at reading, but would rather do something else, like dance! We have 2 weeks to get it finished. Maybe I'll find a book about animals I can do a report on. That might make it easier.
Day 4
May 18, 2008
Dear Diary, One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is go to the pet store. Today Dad and I went there to visit the animals. I just love playing with all the puppies and kittens. They're so cute! But I also like the bunnies and fish. I like all kinds of animals.
Day 3
May 15, 2008
Dear Diary, It's already so hot here and it's not even summer yet! I think I might go swimming in our pool this afternoon. Sometimes I wish I had a brother or a sister to play with, especially when I go swimming. Maybe I'll ask my mom what she thinks.
Day 2
May 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Tuesdays and Fridays I have dance class. That means I have to hurry home from school and get my homework done. Then feed my hamster Noodles and eat a quick snack before it's off to dance. Tuesdays and Fridays are very busy.
Day 1
May 10, 2008
Dear Diary, My teacher gave us these cool notebooks to write down anything we want. She says she won't read what it says. Today we have p.e. after lunch. I like when we get free choice day. That way I can dance with my friends on the basketball court. We make up our own dance routines to songs we like.
