Kinsley's Diary
Day 155
March 22, 2010
Dear Diary, I didn't know Abby was coming over for dinner tonight, not until she rang the doorbell. My mom forget to tell me that she had invited Abby over. We ordered pizza and listened to music. Yum! Still have to finish my homework, so I better go. See ya later-
Day 154
March 15, 2010
Dear Diary, There's this girl at school named Emily. She wants to be my friend, but my mom says I can't play with her. She's nice and everything, it's just her parents that my mom doesn't like. Mom says they're not responsible, and don't take good care of their kids. It's a long story. I can't tell Emily that, it would hurt her feelings. I just have to keep telling her I can't when she wants me to come over to her house.
Day 153
March 11, 2010
Dear Diary, Pancakes is such a sweet bunny. I wish I could dress her up though. I don't think she would like that. And she'd probably just try to eat the outfit, but she would look so cute! I always look for a stuffed bunny at the toy store to see if I can find one that looks like Pancakes. If I ever find one, I'll dress it up.
Day 152
March 6, 2010
Dear Diary, Mom and I went bowling. I got two spares but no strikes. Strikes are really hard! It was fun, and we were laughing the whole time. It makes me happy to see my mom laughing.
Day 151
February 26, 2010
Dear Diary, I was supposed to go over to my dad's place this weekend, but I was invited to a birthday slumber party, so I'm doing that tomorrow instead. I think my dad understands, but I hope he doesn't miss me too bad. He said we could go out to dinner Sunday night so we can still see each other. I like that-
Day 150
February 23, 2010
Dear Diary, Abby's brother Michael makes no sense! He walked into Abby's room while we were in there listening to music and said that Abby's music was "ferocious". That doesn't even make any sense! I think he was trying to sound older or something, but I could tell that he meant that he didn't like it. He just didn't use the right word. Abby and I were cracking up!
Day 149
February 17, 2010
Dear Diary, Since we're stuck inside a lot lately, Mom has been making us go through closets and get rid of stuff. At first it kind of bothered me, but I guess I really don't need every babydoll I ever got. And I'm not really playing with my dollhouse anymore. Now my room feels so empty!
Day 148
February 13, 2010
Dear Diary, Dad and I have been watching the Olympics. It's funny that they were worried about not having enough snow when there's snow everywhere else. Some sports make me wonder how athletes got started doing them. How do you know you want to luge if you've never done it before? That's not the same as going down the street to play soccer or basketball.
Day 147
February 8, 2010
Dear Diary, That was weird! Right after I got done writing in my diary about not seeing Jordan, the phone rang, and it was her. She wants me to go home with her after school tomorrow. My mom said it's okay, so that's good. American Idol is on, gotta go!
Day 146
February 7, 2010
Dear Diary, Jordan and I haven't been hanging out very much lately. It's not like we had a fight or anything, we've just kind of been hanging out with different friends. We're not in the same class anymore either. I kind of miss her, but I love being friends with Abby now too, and she lives right next door, so I see her all the time.
Day 145
January 29, 2010
Dear Diary, I thought I was going to my dad's this weekend, but he just called and said he has to go out of town for the weekend. Something for work. He asked my mom if Jake can come stay here, and I was really surprised that my mom said yes. It's my dad's dog, but it's technically mine too I guess. I'll just have to keep Jake away from my bunny!
Day 144
January 27, 2010
Dear Diary, Lots of times my friend Abby complains about how annoying it is having a brother. Sometimes I think she's lucky. I'll probably never have a brother or sister. Unless, one of my parents gets married again and has a baby. That's probably not going to happen though.
Day 143
January 19, 2010
Dear Diary, Our class was counting down the days and we only have 85 days of school left. We're already more than half way. Oh, and now we have this fundraiser to do for computers. We're selling magazine subscriptions. Maybe my mom will ask our family for me, so then I won't have to do it. I'm sure Gram will order one.
Day 142
January 16, 2010
Dear Diary, It's so sad, hearing about what's happening in Haiti because of the earthquake. Our school is starting a money collection drive next week to try to help out. Even if we can't collect a million dollars, anything will help I'm sure. I'm going to empty my piggybank.
Day 141
January 9, 2010
Dear Diary, We have to take our dog Jake to the groomer's, then we're going bowling. I knew we probably would! Last time my dad crushed me, so I'm hoping to get more strikes and spares this time. We'll see.
Day 140
January 7, 2010
Dear Diary, There's no school tomorrow, some teacher work day or something. My dad is coming to pick me up early for the weekend. He said we'd do something fun this weekend. Maybe bowling? Well, I need to go clean Pancake's cage since I'll be gone all weekend.
Day 139
December 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Sometimes I pretend there's going to be one super hot day right in the middle of winter. All the snow disappears, and you can wear shorts and tank tops with your sandals....and then I climb out of bed, and my feet touch the freezing floor, and I know I must have been dreaming. Snow is fun, but I already miss August!
Day 138
December 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and I are just hanging out in our nice comfy pajamas today. I think we'll do this all day. She has her coffee, I have my hot chocolate. Pancakes is hanging out, nibbling on her carrot I just gave her. She's so noisey when she eats them!
Day 137
December 20, 2009
Dear Diary, Dad and I had such a good time this weekend! We went ice skating at the outdoor rink. It was really fun! After that we went out for dinner and then rented a movie. I've seen "Bedtime Stories" before, but it's a really funny movie.
Day 136
December 17, 2009
Dear Diary, I want to go stay with my dad, but I kind of want to stay home this weekend too. Abby wanted me to ome over to have a bonfire and make smores. Sometimes it's hard wanting to be in two places at the same time. I'm sure my dad and I will do something fun. Maybe I'll ask Abby if I can come over for smores next time they have a bonfire.
Day 135
December 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom dragged me furniture shopping with her after school today. She wants to buy a new kitchen table. I'm not sure why, since we usually sit on the barstools anyway. There's only two of us, not a whole big family. I saw some really pretty bedroom sets I liked, but Mom doesn't think I need new furniture for my room yet.
Day 134
December 4, 2009
Dear Diary, My grandparents just left a couple of days ago, but I already miss them. I usually only see them once a year. My dad said maybe next summer we could go back to Florida again. I hope so. I loved Florida!
Day 133
November 28, 2009
Dear Diary, Seeing Gram and Gramps is the best! We went bowling this afternoon. Gramps just watched since he has a bad back, but Gram is really good. She used to bowl in a league or something. How funny!
Day 132
November 22, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm officially bored. Abby and Michael are gone to visit family. My mom is home from work, but there's nothing to do. I wish we could go bowling, or rollerskating, or something. Anything! At least Gram and Gramps will be here Wednesday. Yipee!
Day 131
November 21, 2009
Dear Diary, Snow, snow, and more snow! I'm not really into skiing, but I love to play outside in it and build forts and have snowball fights. Right now it's really wet snow, and that's not as much fun. I think I'll start one of those books I got from the library for now.
Day 130
November 16, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and I went to the library and found a bunch of books and dvd's to check out. We ran into my teacher while we were there too. Mrs. Esher is so nice. She'd be even nicer if she didn't give us so much homework!
Day 129
November 8, 2009
Dear Diary, Abby was only grounded the one day. She said she got in trouble for lying to her mom. I'm trying to think of the last time I got grounded like that. I think it was a few months ago. I hate being grounded...no tv, no playing with your friends, no phone...no nothing.
Day 128
November 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Abby can't play outside today. I don't know what she did, but her mom wouldn't even let her talk on the phone. Yikes! What am I going to do now? Just sit inside and be bored?
Day 127
October 30, 2009
Dear Diary, We finally called the vet, and he thinks Pancakes is just doing her normal shedding. She may just have a lot more to shed this year. He said to keep brushing her every day for as long as she's shedding, and she'll be fine. Mom said if you don't brush them enough, rabbits can get hairballs. Yuck!
Day 126
October 28, 2009
Dear Diary, Pancakes looks kind of odd right now. She has these small patches of fur missing on her body. I don't know if she's shedding or something, but it looks really strange. I usually brush her at least once a week, but now I'm afraid to brush her, like more of her fur will fall out. She's still my sweet little bunny though!
Day 125
October 20, 2009
Dear Diary, So far so good, I'm not sick. Oh, but Jordan is now. Mom has me drinking all kinds of orange juice and pomegranate juice. The pomegranate tastes really yucky, but it's supposed to be really good for your immune system. I'll drink it for now.
Day 124
October 17, 2009
Dear Diary, I went home with a friend of mine after school. Remember Jordan? Well, it was fine and all until she told me that her sister has the flu. Ummm, why would you invite someone over your house when you know someone in your house is really sick? I'm not a germ-a-phobe or anything, but seriously? I just hope I don't get it now!
Day 123
October 10, 2009
Dear Diary, We got Boo'd! Every year our neighborhood does this thing where you surprise different houses with Halloween goodies. And you have to stick a big "Boo'd" sign to their front door so everyone knows that family has been Boo'd already. It's a lot of fun, because then you have to find someone else to boo. I hope Abby and Michael aren't boo'd before I can do their house.
Day 122
October 6, 2009
Dear Diary, We're decorating our house for Halloween this afternoon. We already have most everything we need. I think we just have to get some more cobweb stuff. That's my favorite thing to use. We hang it all over the trees and the front of our house. It makes it look really spooky. Halloween is so much fun!
Day 121
September 28, 2009
Dear Diary, A 'C-', that's what I got on my test. I guess it could have been worse, but I'm still not happy. My teacher said I can make it up with some of the extra credit assignments. I hope so. Now I just have to show my mom.
Day 120
September 26, 2009
Dear Diary, Oh that stupid Social Studies test! I thought I had it all memorized, but something went wrong. The test was a list of matching, and you had to put the right person with the event. I did fine on the Betsy Ross stuff since I knew she made the flag and all. The presidents was where I got confused. When I got to the end of the list I knew I had made a mistake somewhere, but couldn't figure out where. Abraham Lincoln was the President during the Civil War, not George Washington. I'm not looking forward to finding out my grade-
Day 119
September 23, 2009
Dear Diary, We have a test tomorrow in social studies. It's all on early American history. I have to know all about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Betsy Ross, and a bunch of other people. I think I know it, but I'm going to study a little more after dinner, speaking of which, dinner's ready!
Day 118
September 18, 2009
Dear Diary, My dad is coming to pick me up after he gets his car. His Charger was getting some work done, so hopefully they're all done, and he'll be here soon. Then we're going to dinner, probably that breakfast diner he likes so much. Other than that, I have no idea what we're doing this weekend.
Day 117
September 10, 2009
Dear Diary, I woke up with a stuffy nose this morning. How can I be sick already, when school just started? I don't have a fever or anything, so my mom told me to put tissues in my pocket and go to school. Mom, just please don't tell me to "eat and you'll feel better." I can't taste anything anyway!
Day 116
September 6, 2009
Dear Diary, I survived the first week of school, and I even like my new teacher. Mrs. Esher is a lot better than the teacher I had last year. I may even like school this year! Gotta go do my homework so I can play outside with Abby and Michael.
Day 115
August 30, 2009
Dear Diary, School really starts tomorrow? I guess I'm ready. I think school is okay. It's not my favorite thing, but I do what I'm supposed to. I think we're going to carpool with Abby and Michael. That's way better than riding the bus. I need to go pack my backpack and pick out my clothes-
Day 114
August 25, 2009
Dear Diary, There have been a lot of wildfires around lately, not here in Missoula, but in forests close by. You can actually smell the wildfires, and there's some smoke when the wind blows just right. I hope none of them come this way. And I hope the firefighters are safe and able to help everyone and put the fires out.
Day 113
August 18, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom was so mad earlier. I put a Mountain Dew in the freezer because it wasn't cold, and I forgot about it. Actually, I remembered it, but not until this morning, and it was too late. It had already exploded all over the inside of the freezer. And you know what happens to soda when it explodes in a freezer? It freezes all over the place! I cleaned it the best I could, but my mom said it was still a sticky mess, so she did it herself.
Day 112
August 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Florida's fun, but it's good to be home again! I think Pancakes really missed me. Mom said she tried to play with her for a little while each day so she wouldn't be lonely. Can't stay, we're going next door for a bbq with the Adams. See ya!
Day 111
August 7, 2009
Dear Diary, Hooray! We made it to the beach again today. Thankfully, because we leave to go back home Sunday. I can't wait to see my mom and Pancakes! Anyways, the beach was fun. We made a huge sand castle. It had a river around it and everything.
Day 110
August 5, 2009
Dear Diary, It's been raining all day. So much for going to the beach today. I thought Florida was supposed to be the "Sunshine State", where it never rains? I think we're going to go see a movie instead, I have no idea what though-
Day 109
July 28, 2009
Dear Diary, We went to this place called Weeki Wachee. They have mermaids that do an underwater show. It was pretty neat. And I really liked the flume ride. Getting splashed was fun!
Day 108
July 25, 2009
Dear Diary, It's a lot hotter here than it is in Montana, but warmer is better if it means going to the beach. We're going to Honeymoon Island after lunch. Gram says they have the best seashells there. And after that we're eating dinner at some restaurant right on the beach. How cool is that?
Day 107
July 20, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so excited now that I'm all ready to go! I'm not sure I'll even be able to sleep tonight! Our flight is at 8:30 in the morning, so I'm spending the night at my dad's place since we have to get up super early. I gave my mom all the instructions for taking care of Pancakes. I'm not so worried about my mom being alone this time since I know she has become good friends with Abby and Michael's mom, and she's right next door.
Day 106
July 18, 2009
Dear Diary, I leave for Florida in 3 days, and I'm not even packed or anything yet! I'm getting so excited though. Last summer was so much fun staying with my grandparents. I have no clue what we're going to do this time. I just hope we go to the beach a lot. There is no beach in Montana, so it's something different.
Day 105
July 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Jordan and I went to the movies with her parents last night. I'm not used to hanging out with a mom and a dad at the same time. Usually it's just me and my mom, or me and my dad. I know they both love me, but it took some getting used to at first. At least I still get to see both of them all the time.
Day 104
July 7, 2009
Dear Diary, We're going to Florida! Dad and I are going to visit Gram and Gramps in a couple of weeks. This time we're staying for 10 days! I just hope my bathingsuit from last year still fits so I don't have to go shopping for another one. That was really bad last year with my mom. Remember the one with ruffles she bought me?
Day 103
June 30, 2009
Dear Diary, So far it's been pretty fun spending every day next door at the Adams' house while Mom's at work. I don't get bored because I always have Michael and Abby to play with. Sometimes it's hard being an only child and not having someone right there to play with. I always have to call a friend to play. If you have a brother or sister than you have someone right there. Well, at least I have Abby and Michael next door-
Day 102
June 21, 2009
Dear Diary, I took my dad out for breakfast this morning since it's Father's Day. Well, I guess I didn't really since his breakfast was free, but I still had to pay for mine. They had these pancakes that were in the shape of different animals, like cats and butterflies with sprinkles on top. How neat! After that we went bowling. We haven't been bowling together in a long time, it was cool!
Day 101
June 17, 2009
Dear Diary, We may have found a solution to the problem! Mom has been wondering where I could be while she's at work, and I really don't want to do a camp. Luckily, the Adams live next door. Michael and Abby's mom is going to be home all summer, and she said I can stay with them at their house during the day. I guess that's kind of like a camp without really being a camp! It should be fun, we can rollerskate and play games, anything. I'm so relieved!
Day 100
June 12, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm thinking this summer is going to be so boring. There's nothing to do, and no camps I really want to go to. 10 weeks is a really long time with nothing to do. Mom said I may have to go to a camp even if I don't want to because she only has a couple more weeks of vacation time left and I have to be somewhere while she's at work all day. What am I going to do?
Day 99
June 9, 2009
Dear Diary, My dad bought a new car, a really fancy on too! It's a Dodge Charger, and it's red. He took me for a drive in it yesterday. I was surprised he bought it because my dad has never really been into muscle cars or anything, but you should see the smile on his face when he's in his new car.
Day 98
May 30, 2009
Dear Diary, My teacher Mr. Richards was really upset with our class Friday. Everyone was goofing off, and a lot of kids kept saying a bad word. He said if we don't get our act together there won't be an end of the year party. As soon as Mom saw his email she was asking me if I was one of the kids saying the word. I didn't want to get in trouble!
Day 97
May 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Last night my mom and I watched the National Spelling Bee. I think I'm a pretty good speller, but I never even heard of some of the words these kids had to spell. The winner was some girl who had to spell "laodicean". What does that word even mean?!?! She must practice a lot to learn so many words. Gotta go!
Day 96
May 22, 2009
Dear Diary, Oh my gosh, its actually been warm during the day the last few days. Finally, after so much snow and watching the news showing people in the south wearing shorts and sandals, it's our turn! You'll never hear me complain about it getting hot. I like it much better this way! I think Pancakes does too, so I can take her outside to play.
Day 95
May 15, 2009
Dear Diary, I heard a really cool song on the radio yesterday. It's called "I Run to You". I really like it because it's duet and they sound really cool together. Then this morning I heard my mom singing it in the kitchen. I guess it's kind of cool for other people too.
Day 94
May 10, 2009
Dear Diary, I was supposed to go see my dad this weekend, but since it's Mother's Day he said we could do next weekend instead. I tried to make my mom breakfast, but it was kind of hard. I ended up making her coffee and giving her cereal and fresh fruit. It's the thought that counts, right? We're just going to hang out together for the rest of the day. Maybe we'll go shopping or something.
Day 93
May 7, 2009
Dear Diary, No rollerskating today, it's raining. We've been skating pretty much every day after school until dinnertime. Sometimes Michael, Abby, and I laugh so hard I have to sit down or else I'll fall down. I'm so happy we're friends, especially since they live right next door!
Day 92
April 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Guess who finally got a pair of rollerskates? Yes, Michael. And now instead of throwing tennis balls at us as we skate by, he's chasing us on his skates and throwing the balls at us. At least the balls are soft and don't hurt. I'm getting pretty good at getting the ball and throwing it back at him too!
Day 91
April 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Abby and I had so much fun rollerskating together. Or at least we were having fun until her brother Michael was throwing tennis balls at us when we skated by. Okay, I guess that made us laugh too. I think he was bored since he doesn't have any skates. I'm glad I have my skates!
Day 90
April 18, 2009
Dear Diary, Dad and I are hanging out this weekend. We're going hiking later today. Dad said he found some new trails for us to try. It's my job to pack a picnic lunch for us to bring in our backpacks. I'm thinking egg salad. Better get going so I'll be ready!
Day 89
April 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Pancakes was a big hit at school for show and tell. All the kids thought she was the cutest bunny ever. I already knew that! I wish she could come with me to school all the time.
Day 88
April 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Good news! My teacher said I can bring Pancakes into school tomorrow as long as she's in a cage that locks. I have a special travel cage for Pancakes, so no problem! She gets a little nervous sometimes about being moved all around, but I'll be careful.
Day 87
April 6, 2009
Dear Diary, I want to bring Pancakes in for show and tell, but my mom says I have to ask the teacher first. It's not like I want to bring in my dog Jake. Then I know the teacher would say no. But a cute little bunny? I have to remember to ask tomorrow in school-
Day 86
March 29, 2009
Dear Diary, I was at my dad's for the weekend. He wanted to take me to the bunny breakfast at the mall this morning, but I told him I'm getting too big for that. So instead we went to this cafe that makes the biggest waffles you ever saw. It was way better than a bunny breakfast!
Day 85
March 27, 2009
Dear Diary, This nail biting bitter stuff is awful, but it's working. You paint it on just like nail polish, but it's clear, so you can't even see it. And so you forget about it after awhile, or at least until you put your finger in your mouth! Gram heard about my problem, and she says if I can stop for good she'll send me something special in the mail.
Day 84
March 18, 2009
Dear Diary, Yes, she caught me biting my fingers while I was watching t.v. Mom's solution to help me stop nailbiting again is putting this bitter tasting stuff on my fingernails. Sounds gross, but I'm willing to try. Jordan says her parents used the same kind of stuff to get her to stop sucking her thumb, and it worked.
Day 83
March 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I was doing so good not biting my nails, and now I've kind of gotten back into the habit. My mom is not going to be happy when she finds out. I tried so hard when I was trying to earn a bowling trip, but now I'm just not that into it. Before I guess I was just really motivated!
Day 82
March 10, 2009
Dear Diary, I made it back to school which is good. The not so good part is all the make-up work I have to do that I missed last week. Mr. Richards says I can have until next Monday to get caught up. I guess that means I'll be bringing work with me to my dad's house over the weekend. He doesn't mind helping me with homework-
Day 81
March 7, 2009
Dear Diary, It stinks being sick. Today is the first day that I'm feeling better at all. Yes, I ended up getting the flu, although I didn't necessarily get it from Jordan. I hate being sick. I missed 3 days of school. Even just laying there I didn't feel any better. I didn't even feel like watching t.v. Hopefully I'll be okay for school Monday.
Day 80
February 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I was right, Jordan has the flu. I just hope I don't get sick. I've been feeling really tired and my eyes are itchy, and that's never a good sign. Should have gotten that flu shot afterall. I think I'm going to go rest until dinner-
Day 79
February 24, 2009
Dear Diary, Jordan wasn't in school yesterday or today, and that's not like her. I think I better call her and see what's up. Maybe she's sick or something. There's been some nasty flu and stuff going around our school, and everyone has been coughing and congested. Sounds really gross I know.
Day 78
February 18, 2009
Dear Diary, I've been trying to call my dad all afternoon, but everytime I do, the phone just gives a busy signal. Cell phones. I wanted to talk to him to tell him that I got a 'B+' on my writing paper. I was pretty proud of myself! My dad always likes to hear how I'm doing in school. Well, time for dinner. I'll have to try calling him again later-
Day 77
February 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I decided to go ahead and do the Valentine's Day cards. I just didn't pay attention to the girls who were being mean about it. Then on Valentine's Day morning, my mom made me these pink heart shaped pancakes. It was super cheesey, but really sweet. I've never had pink pancakes before. They really tasted the same, they just looked different-
Day 76
February 11, 2009
Dear Diary, I like Valentine's Day and all, but in some ways I hate it. It turns into a popularity contest at my school. Like, who has the most Valentine's cards, so who has the most friends? I'm not even sure I want to do cards this year because of that. It's not the boys so much as it is the girls. I have a couple more days to decide if I'm going to do them or not I guess.
Day 75
February 7, 2009
Dear Diary, At my dad's house this weekend. We've been trying to teach our dog Jake some new tricks. He can now give you his paw when you say shake. And, when you say other hand he puts that one down and then holds out his other paw. Smart dog! Now if we can just teach him not to chew all our socks!
Day 74
January 31, 2009
Dear Diary, Lucky for me I didn't have to choose between Abby and Jordan for bowling. Jordan went to her grandparents' house for the weekend, so she couldn't go anyway. Thank goodness. That would have been hard to choose. Abby and I had a blast! She kept making me laugh when I threw a gutter ball!
Day 73
January 27, 2009
Dear Diary, I finally did it! Remember that deal I made with my mom that if I stopped biting my nails she would take me and a friend bowling? It took me long enough, I know, but I did it! So this next weekend I get to go bowling. The only trouble now is trying to decide who to take with me. Do I take Jordan or Abby? I've been friends with Jordan longer, but I've been spending more time with Abby lately. Hmmm...I'll have to think about it-
Day 72
January 19, 2009
Dear Diary, Still looking for more music for my mp3 player. I really like Jordan Sparks too. She's that girl that won American Idol. She rocks! Mom says if I don't clean my room today she's going to confiscate my player. I better at least get started since it's almost dinner time.
Day 71
January 15, 2009
Dear Diary, I found these new songs to put on my mp3 player. They're from that movie The Wild. I love them! I think one of the groups is Lifehouse. Very cool! There's not much else to do around here lately. Oh look, it's snowing again!
Day 70
January 8, 2009
Dear Diary, Ice skating was a lot of fun! We were only a little bit late, so I didn't miss much. And when I got there Abby was waiting for me. Rollerskating is still my favorite kind of skating, but you can't do that this time of year, so ice skating is better than no skating at all. We ate snow cones at the snack bar too. I had blue and my tongue looked like I had colored it with a blue marker!
Day 69
January 6, 2009
Dear Diary, Back to school today! I didn't want to be happy about it, but I kind of was. After a week or two off from school I'm ready to go back. Tomorrow night we have our school skate party. Those are always so much fun! Mom says if she gets home in time from work then I can go. I hope so!
Day 68
December 29, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad and I had a lot of fun! We went snowmobiling in the Mission Mountains which is not too far from here. I'd never been before, and we had an awesome time. We went on the trails on the reservation. Yes, it was a little cold, but we dressed in our snowsuits, so it wasn't too bad. Definitely worth it!
Day 67
December 24, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm starting to feel ready for school to start again. It gets so boring sometimes being an only child. If I had a brother or sister at least I'd always have someone to play with. My dad is coming to pick me up tomorrow, and I get to stay with him for a few nights. I have no clue what we're doing, but that's okay, it's good just to be with him.
Day 66
December 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Jordan, Abby and I are going to the movies tonight. We're going to see "Tales of Despereaux". I heard it was really good. This will be the first time that the three of us have hung out together, but I knew that Abby wanted to see it, and Jordan wanted to see it. So, I figured why not have all of us go together? Jordan's mom should be picking up Abby and me any minute-
Day 65
December 18, 2008
Dear Diary, I've been working really hard to stop biting my nails so I can earn that trip to the bowling alley Mom promised me. I think she said I had to go a whole week. Well, so far I've gone 3 days. When I asked my mom how she would be able to tell if I'd been chewing my nails, she said she would be able to tell by looking at them. Wish me luck!
Day 64
December 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I rented "Wall-e" the movie this weekend. Abby came over to watch it with us too. It was a pretty cute movie. It's funny how they can make a robot seem so life-like. He had a cute personality. I have no idea what we're doing the rest of the weekend, probably just hanging around.
Day 63
December 10, 2008
Dear Diary, Thanksgiving seems like so long ago now! I had a lot of fun with Gram and Gramps visiting. We showed them Caras Park downtown. Gramps even rode the old carousel with me. Then we walked around some of the trails in the park. I was sad to see them leave last week. I'm still hoping Dad and I can go visit them next summer in Florida.
Day 62
November 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Gram and Gramps plane was late getting here last night, but Dad let me stay up late enough to see them. I was actually already falling asleep on the couch and woke up when Jake was licking my face! Gram brought me a box of super awesome chocolates. I'm so glad they were able to come for Thanksgiving!
Day 61
November 21, 2008
Dear Diary, Only two more days of school next week before we're off for Thanksgiving! Gram and Gramps should be getting here Monday night from Florida. This year I'm going to have two Thanksgivings, one with Mom and the Adams from next door, and one with Dad and Gram and Gramps. That's a lot of pecan pie, but I think I can handle it.
Day 60
November 12, 2008
Dear Diary, My teacher Mr. Richards was absent today. We had the same substitute teacher we always have. She's this really nice lady who lets us have extra free time if we get out work all done. Jordan and I played Monopoly. We didn't get to finish the whole game since that takes forever, but we had fun.
Day 59
November 10, 2008
Dear Diary, You know, when I get home from school, I just want to relax for a little while, maybe have a snack. Well, there was none of that today. Mom picked me up from school and we ran errands the rest of the day. How exciting for me. We went to the post office, and the dry cleaners, and the grocery store, etc. I don't want to be a grown up if all you do is work and run errands.
Day 58
November 5, 2008
Dear Diary, I just got another email from Gram and Gramps, and they're going to be here in only 2 more weeks! I can't wait cuz it feels like forever since Dad and I went to Florida for summer vacation and stayed with them. I can't remember the last time they even came to Montana. Its been a while I think. Someone's knocking on the door, got to go!
Day 57
November 4, 2008
Dear Diary, We had a lot of fun last weekend. When we went to the mall for Halloween, all the people who worked in the stores were dressed up too. We ran into my friend Jordan too! I didn't even know she was going trick or treating at the mall. After that we had pizza at some new pizza place there, and it was delicious!
Day 56
October 31, 2008
Dear Diary, My teacher actually gave us homework for the weekend! Who gives homework on Halloween? I guess I better do it before Dad comes to pick me up. We're going to some Halloween thing at the mall. I guess they're having trick or treating there. That seems kind of weird, I guess you go from one store to the next. Anyways, time for homework-
Day 55
October 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I went over to Abby's house to see if she wanted to play, but she wasn't home. She invited me to come spend the night on Halloween, but I'll be over at my dad's house. It's hard because I love going and seeing my dad and Jake, but sometimes my friends invite me to do things on the weekends, like birthday parties. I wish there was two of me sometimes.
Day 54
October 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Why is it so hard to stop?!?!?! I'm making myself crazy with biting my nails. Every day I wake up and say this is the day I'm going to not do it at all, and so far it hasn't happened. I'm never going to earn a trip to the bowling alley! Maybe we should start with me making it through one day before I try making it thorugh an entire week.
Day 53
October 23, 2008
Dear Diary, Okay my plan for trying to stop biting my nails so far is really not working. I don't do it on purpose, but I look down and my fingers are in my mouth. I guess bad habits are hard to break sometimes. Mom said she's willing to make me a deal. If I can keep from biting my nails for one week then she'll take Abby and me bowling. That sounds like a fair deal. Now, if I can just do it.
Day 52
October 19, 2008
Dear Diary, I just got an email from Gram and Gramps. They're coming for Thanksgiving this year! I know Thanksgiving is far away, but that's so cool! We have no school that whole week either. It's only like another five weeks away, right? I emailed them back and also sent a picture Mom took of me with Pancakes.
Day 51
October 17, 2008
Dear Diary, Abby invited me over to play after school. It's so awesome that she lives right next door. I don't have to wait for Mom to drive me over there or anything. I'm glad that Abby and I have started hanging out more. She and I are starting to become good friends.
Day 50
October 14, 2008
Dear Diary, You know fall is here when Mom's nagging me every time I go outside. Do you have your jacket buttoned up? Where's your hat? Are you sure you're warm enough? Sometimes I just want to laugh, but other times it really drives me crazy that Mom is so on my case about dressing warm enough to be outside. I know she means well...
Day 49
October 9, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so bored right now! I went over to se if Abby wanted to play and she's not home. Then I called Jordan and she's busy doing homework. There's nothing to do. I think I'll go email Gram and Gramps down in Florida and say hi.
Day 48
October 6, 2008
Dear Diary, My favorite thing to wear in the winter is sweatpants. Well, I'm not sure if they're really called sweatpants, but they're these velvet knit pants. I have them in like almost every color! I wear them to school, and around the house, I love them.
Day 47
October 4, 2008
Dear Diary, I've been trying so hard to not bite my nails, but it's so hard not to! I need like a reminder or something. Mom says she could put some bitter tasting stuff on my nails to help me stop, not sure I'm ready for that. I just can't help it! Whenever I get bored or nervous, my fingers go right into my mouth. I'll just have to keep trying.
Day 46
September 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Jake went home to dad's place today. I wish Jake lived here all the time, but then I know Dad would be lonely without him. And Pancakes was starting to chew her fur, so I'm sure she's relieved Jake is gone. Mom said maybe someday we can get a dog, but not right now. I won't get my hopes up.
Day 45
September 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I was supposed to go to my dad's house this weekend, but he had a business trip. At least he brought my dog Jake over so I could take care of him while Dad's gone. I just have to keep Jake away from Pancakes. It's not that I think Jake would bite her or anything, but Pancakes is terrified of Jake. He is a pretty big dog.
Day 44
September 24, 2008
Dear Diary, So far I really like school this year. My teacher Mr. Richards is kind of silly, but he's a nice teacher. The only part of school I don't like as much is p.e. I hate running! Oh well, I guess you can't love everything.
Day 43
September 21, 2008
Dear Diary, I have this bad habit of biting my nails. Mom keeps after me about keeping my hands out of my mouth, but it's hard. I do it a lot of times without even thinking about it. I know it's not a good habit to have, so I'm going to try to stop. I wish there was some way I could remind myself when I start to do it.
Day 42
September 17, 2008
Dear Diary, Abby has this video game system that you can play bowling on. It was fun, but not as much fun as going to a real bowling alley. I felt weird standing in one place to bowl. Next time we're going to try tennis.
Day 41
September 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Yesterday Abby and I played outside. We brought Pancakes out there and put her in the playyard. It's this big plastic fence that you can use to make a pen in the yard. That way Pancakes can chew all the grass she wants, but can't hop off somewhere that I can't find her. One time I thought I lost her. The playyard works much better.
Day 40
September 13, 2008
Dear Diary, My stomach is growling. Mom is making some casserole for dinner and it's not done yet. I guess it took a little longer to cook then she thought it would. I don't even care what it is at this point, I'll eat anything. Oh finally! Dinner's ready-
Day 39
September 8, 2008
Dear Diary, Jordan's party at the bowling alley was so cool! For the party we had a few lanes to bowl on. I did pretty good considering I hadn't bowled in a while. I had one of the highest scores. They had all the kids sign a bowling pin to give to Jordan to remember her party by. Maybe I should have a bowling party next year.
Day 38
September 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Tomorrow is Jordan's birthday party and I can't wait! She is having a bowling party, and I love bowling! I haven't been bowling in a while, since the last time my dad took me. Then we're going to have pizza and an icecream cake. Jordan gets an icecream cake every year. It's her favorite!
Day 37
September 2, 2008
Dear Diary, Our bbq was a big hit with the Adams. I've never had corn that was actually cooked on the grill, but it was good. Michael, Abby and I had fun playing tag and other stuff outside. The only problem is that I forgot how hard it is to find games for three people to play. You almost need an even number like two or four, but we did pretty well.
Day 36
August 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so happy that our neighbor friends said yes to our bbq idea. They're coming over later this afternoon. We're going to grill chicken and corn on the cob. I haven't been able to play with Michael and Abby in a while. It should be a lot of fun!
Day 35
August 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, this is it. Our last weekend before school starts. Mom has Monday off too for the holiday, so we're thinking about something fun we can do together. We might try to have a bbq with friends we have who live next door. We used to see them more, but its been a while. The Adams' have a son named Michael who is only a year younger than me, and a daughter named Abby who is in my same grade. I hope we can do the bbq, I miss seeing them.
Day 34
August 26, 2008
Dear Diary, It's so early I can hardly see to write. Mom wants to drive over to Billings to see a big campaign rally for the presidential election. It's only a couple hours away, not so bad. I was just kind of surprised last night when she told me she wanted to go. So here we are, driving through the middle of nowhere. Not much to look at right now.
Day 33
August 23, 2008
Dear Diary, Jake is really a sweet dog, but he just made my white jean shorts all black with his fur! Whenever I leave clothes on the floor, Jake acts like it's his own little blanket to sleep on. But he's so cute that it's hard to stay mad at him for long.
Day 32
August 21, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm going to spend the weekend with my dad tomorrow. He says he wants to take me school shopping since we start class soon. I can't wait to see Jake. He gets so excited when he sees me come in the front door. Jake jumps all around me until I pet him. He's a black lab.
Day 31
August 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Speaking of weird names, what about Pancakes? Well, that one is kind of hard to explain. See, I've had Pancakes since I was pretty little. And when we brought her home from the pet store, Mom and Dad said I could name her anything I wanted. I had a hard time deciding what to name her. So the next morning when we had breakfast, guess what we had to eat? Pancakes of course! I thought it was silly, but the name stuck!
Day 30
August 13, 2008
Dear Diary, A lot of times people ask me about my first name. They say 'Kinsley' is so unusual and ask where it came from. At first when I was really small I didn't know what to tell them. But now I tell them that it's an English name and that it was my mom's maiden name. I think it's kind of neat to be named for someone in your family, as long as it's not some crazy weird name!
Day 29
August 9, 2008
Dear Diary, I got worried yesterday when Dad was running a little late. But he made it! Skating with him is always so much fun! He always makes me laugh and I end up falling and that makes me laugh even harder! After skating we went out for pizza.
Day 28
August 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad's been pretty busy at work lately. He has some big project to finish. He said tomorrow we can go roller skating at the rink. It's so hot outside to roller skate in the summer. But at the roller rink it's always nice weather!
Day 27
August 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Pancakes is so funny. She just loves hopping around our front porch. Since we have it all screened in, she can't really go too far, but she seems to like it. Today I brought a carrot out for her to nibble on. I think she's too busy hopping to eat it though.
Day 26
July 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I have this headache that will not go away. I hope I'm not getting sick or something. Mom said to try reading a book and just relaxing for a while, but I can't. Even my eyeballs feel like they hurt. Maybe I'll just lay on my bed for a while.
Day 25
July 27, 2008
Dear Diary, We went to Glacier National Park this weekend. On the way there Dad asked me a lot of questions about Mom and how she's doing. I think he's worried about her since they divorced. I wanted to tell him that he could call her himself and talk to her. I guess every kid dreams about their parents getting back together. I don't think that's going to happen in my case though.
Day 24
July 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Tomorrow I'm going over to my dad's place for the weekend. He has a house just outside the city. I haven't seen his dog Jake in a while. Dad said maybe this weekend we can drive up to Glacier National Park. Then we can go hiking or maybe kayaking. They have a lot of fun things to do there.
Day 23
July 19, 2008
Dear Diary, Rabbits are sooooo noisey when they eat. I can hear Pancakes all the way across my room. She loves munching on her celery sticks. Mom says if I keep giving them to Pancakes, she might turn into a celery stick. Very funny Mom.
Day 22
July 16, 2008
Dear Diary, I think I'm ready for school to start. Lately I've only had Jordan to play with. All the kids on my street are either older, like highschool, or younger, like babies. At least when school starts, I can see my friends in school. I don't have a ton of friends since I'm kind of shy. But I'm working on that. When school starts, I'm really going to try to be more outgoing.
Day 21
July 12, 2008
Dear Diary, After seeing the box that Gram and Gramps sent me, Mom had an idea. Maybe it would be nice to start emailing with them. That way I can send them pictures and tell them what's going on at school, or whatever. I think it's a great idea. I don't know them as well since they live so far away. This would be a good way to get to know them.
Day 20
July 9, 2008
Dear Diary, My Gram is so sweet. She sent me a welcome home box of goodies. And there was a card that said how much she and Gramps enjoyed having Dad and I visit them in Florida. There were homemade cookies, a book about bunnies, and some other cool stuff. I think I'm going to call her to let her know I got it.
Day 19
July 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I didn't do much yesterday for the Fourth of July. It was nice to have her home from work, but we just kind of hung out at home. Tomorrow, Jordan is coming over. Not sure what we're going to do yet.
Day 18
July 2, 2008
Dear Diary, My friend Jordan just got her hair cut. And when I say cut, I mean cut-off. It looks really pretty. Sometimes I wish I could cut mine really short too. Having such long, thick wavy hair is hard sometimes. It takes so long to dry. Lots of times I just end up putting it in a ponytail.
Day 17
July 1, 2008
Dear Diary, Roller skating was a blast! Mom kept falling down, and then we were laughing so hard that it made it even harder for her to keep her balance. A few bumps and bruises, but it was worth it. We had a great time together.
Day 16
June 28, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I are going to go roller skating this afternoon. Mom hasn't been skating since she was a kid, so this should be interesting. She wants us girls to go do something fun, now that I'm back home. Mom seems so happy to have me around again. I'm not sure Pancakes was much company for her. She's kind of quiet you know.
Day 15
June 27, 2008
Dear Diary, It feels good to be back home again. Gram and Grandpa said maybe we can do it again next summer. That would be fun. But for right now, I'm happy to be back home. My mom hugged me so hard when she saw me I thought I couldn't breathe!
Day 14
June 24, 2008
Dear Diary, I had a great time in Florida, but I'm happy we're going back home. I miss my mom and Pancakes of course. Our flight leaves in an hour, so here we are waiting at the airport terminal. I also had a great time being with my dad. I'm not used to seeing him this much, since usually I see him only on the weekends. But it was really cool.
Day 13
June 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so embarassed! This morning we went swimming in the pool. Well, as I was getting ready to jump in, the top of my bathing suit fell off! I guess it came unhooked or something. Anyways, I was soooooo embarassed because my whole family was there. Everybody tried not to laugh, but I could see them smiling. Gram ran over to help me get it back on. I think from now on I'm only wearing a one piece bathing suit!
Day 12
June 20, 2008
Dear Diary, I think my mom really misses me. I miss her too, but it's different for her. Here I am having fun with Gram and Gramps, and my dad. And she's in Montana all alone, except for Pancakes. Pancakes is a great bunny, but she doesn't talk or anything. I think I'm going to email her some pictures I took with my camera. Then she can see what I've been up to.
Day 11
June 17, 2008
Dear Diary, So far I'm having a good time with my family here in Florida. We went to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa. They had some really neat fish, and even had a shark feeding show. We don't have fish or sharks like that in Montana! I call my mom every night to say hi and check on my bunny Pancakes. I hope she doesn't miss me too much.
Day 10
June 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, today is the big day! We're about halfway there I guess. The first plane took us to Chicago, which is where we are no. Next we fly all the rest of the way to Florida. This has been my first trip riding on a airplane. It's kind of scarey at first, but then it was fun. I just don't like the taking off and landing. Once the plane is up in the air, it's pretty cool.
Day 9
June 12, 2008
Dear Diary, I know I haven't written much lately, but I've been soooo busy. It's our last week of school. And, I've had a lot to do to get ready for vacation with my dad. Clothes shopping, Mom said I needed a haircut, and so on. The list is endless! I can't wait to just get on the plane and be there already!
Day 8
June 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom is taking me shopping this afternoon. She wants to help me find some new clothes to wear on my vacation. I think the clothes I have are okay. Mom says I'll be too hot dressed in jeans in Florida. I guess she's probably right.
Day 7
June 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Only one more week of school! Then the next weekend, my dad and I fly to Florida to see Gram and Gramps. I can't wait! I've never seen the ocean before, so it should be a lot of fun. I bet it's really beautiful. I just hope there aren't any sharks or other sea creatures swimming with me.
Day 6
May 15, 2008
Dear Diary, My dad and I built a huge house for Pancakes this weekend. We set it up in the backyard at my Mom’s house. Now when Pancakes and I are outside playing this summer, she will have lots of places to play hide and seek with me. That’s right.. Pancakes knows how to play hide & seek!
Day 5
April 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I went to the big library after school today. I have a report to do and all the good books at school were picked already, so mom had a plan! I got to check out some really cool books and they won't be the same ones that the other kids are using. I like knowing that my report is going to be really special.
Day 4
April 24, 2008
Dear Diary, I got the best surprise from dad. This summer we are going to see Gram and Gramps in Florida! I can't wait. They live on the beach and Gram said that it is always sunny there. I want to go on boats and play in the ocean. It is going to take forever for summer to get here now.
Day 3
April 21, 2008
Dear Diary, I am going to spend the night with my dad tonight. We always do something fun together when I do. I miss Pancakes when I go but he has a dog named Jake that might hurt her. Maybe he will make me his macaroni and cheese for dinner. He makes the best!
Day 2
April 18, 2008
Dear Diary, It was snowing just a little when I got home from school today. I think Pancakes likes it. I did my homework on the porch and she nibbled on my shoestrings. I love her so much.
Day 1
April 15, 2008
Dear Diary, It is too cold again today to play outside. I thought I would just be stuck in front of the TV again but my mom had a plan again! It is her friend's birthday tomorrow so we got to make her a cake and I got to decorate it! I put flowers and leaves on it in pink and green. It looked too good to eat! My mom is going to take it to work tomorrow to surprise her friend.
