Molly's Diary
Day 158
March 21, 2010
Dear Diary, I really wanted to go to the bookstore again tonight, but nobody can take me. My mom has a hair appointment tonight. And Dad has his friend coming over to help him fix something in the basement. I guess I'll have to wait until another night. Oh well-
Day 157
March 19, 2010
Dear Diary, My allergies are killing me! I feel like my nose is running all the time, and even my ears are itching inside. I wish the pollen would just hurry up and go away. I like spring, just not this part if it. Speaking of which, I need another tissue right now!
Day 156
March 8, 2010
Dear Diary, I was at Kayla's house yesterday. My parents took Catherine to some Sesame Street show, and I really didn't want to go. At least they didn't make me go. I had tons more fun with Kayla. We traded some books since I've already read all mine. I should keep a list of all the books I read. I bet it's a lot!
Day 155
March 5, 2010
Dear Diary, Only like 6 more weeks until vacation. Yes, I'm counting! We usually do something fun for spring break. Sometimes we go away on vacation, or see movies and do other fun stuff during the day here in Boston. I kind of hope we stay here so I can see my friends.
Day 154
February 25, 2010
Dear Diary, I really need to get my hair cut. My bangs keep hanging in my eyes, and it's really bothering me. I could ask my mom to cut them, but I'd rather just get my hair done all at once. I hope I can get it done this weekend. We'll see-
Day 153
February 23, 2010
Dear Diary, All of a sudden all my friends are wearing these bracelets with animals and letters and other cool stuff. I have a couple of them, but some people are going crazy. Kayala has like a million of them! They're kind of fun because you can collect them and trade them.
Day 152
February 18, 2010
Dear Diary, Okay, so it snowed, they were right this time. And, we had no school, but I swear my teachers just pile all that work onto the other days. It's not like we don't have to do the work, and it disappears. I wish!
Day 151
February 15, 2010
Dear Diary, Last week everybody said it was going to snow so bad, and it didn't. Now they're saying they really mean it this time. It's supposed to tomorrow. That means getting up and seeing if school has been cancelled. Maybe I'll ask my mom to just wake me up if there's no snow, that way I can sleep in if it's a snow day. I love sleep!
Day 150
February 11, 2010
Dear Diary, The bad news is they couldn't fix our computer. The good news is my parents bought a laptop. I like it a lot better than the one we had that sat in the office and plugged into the wall. Now you can use the computer anywhere. I'm not allowed to take it in my room yet though-
Day 149
February 8, 2010
Dear Diary, Our computer just died, and I didn't know how much I used it until it broke. My dad had to take it in to see if it can be fixed. Hopefully they give it back soon. At least it wasn't me that broke it this time. My little sister spilled her drink on the keyboard and it started smoking and everything. Oops!
Day 148
January 30, 2010
Dear Diary, Chloe's mom is letting her have two friends spend the night tonight. Bethany and me! My parents only let me have more than one person if it's my birthday or Halloween or something. I have no clue what we're going to do, but it'll be cool!
Day 147
January 26, 2010
Dear Diary, I wonder why we like some songs and not others? Why do I like some singers and some just don't do anything for me? I just got a new cd, and now I can't stop listening to it. I think my parents are already sick of hearing it, but I'm not.
Day 146
January 19, 2010
Dear Diary, I was this close to being late for school today! I thought my mom was gonna kill me! I'm like never late for school, but I got distracted I guess. I was mostly ready, and then I went on the computer, and I kind of forgot what time it was. I barely made it before the last bell. Whew!
Day 145
January 16, 2010
Dear Diary, I'm still wearing my pajamas, and it's after lunch. I love Saturdays! You can be comfy as long as you don't have anywhere to go. At first my parents would tell me I had to get dressed for the day, but now they just shake their heads at me. Now they only make me get dressed if someone's coming over.
Day 144
January 8, 2010
Dear Diary, We're going to Nana and Grandad's for the weekend. They don't like driving in this weather, so it's easier for us to go see them. I brought plenty to do, books, my DSI, that should be enough. Nana says maybe we can bake some cookies or something too. Time to go get my bag ready-
Day 143
January 5, 2010
Dear Diary, My favorite thing about winter vacation, is all the time I get to read! Mom took us to the library again yesterday, and I brought home a huge stack of new books. I didn't have time to read any yesterday. We went out for pizza, and then my aunt and uncle came over to visit. But today is definitely reading day-
Day 142
December 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Dad said I can get my allowance as soon as I help him finish shoveling off the sidewalk. Ummm...my allowance was for last week. It's already Tuesday, and I already DID my chores for last week. I don't think he's going to budge on this one. Time to get the shovel.
Day 141
December 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Hey, it's snowing outside. The only thing good about snow is when there's a lot of it, and you can go sledding. My little sister has never gone before because she was too little. Dad says maybe we can teach her this year.
Day 140
December 23, 2009
Dear Diary, We were supposed to go downtown tonight, but traffic was really bad. I guess there's some famous person in town or something, and they had roads blocked off. You couldn't really drive anywhere. Bummer.
Day 139
December 13, 2009
Dear Diary, It's almost dinner time, and I'm not even hungry. My stomach hurts. The only thing I can think of is maybe I ate too many cookies after lunch. I love Soft Batch cookies!
Day 138
December 7, 2009
Dear Diary, Last night there was a helicopter that kept flying over our house. It was shining a big light all over. I had a hard time sleeping until it stopped. Mom said she saw on the news this morning that they were looking for a boy who might be lost. I hope they found him.
Day 137
November 26, 2009
Dear Diary, We're at Nana and Granddad's for Thanksgiving. I kind of wish we did it at our house instead, but it's tradition. There's just not as much to do here. I think Catherine is bored too. I didn't even remember to bring my book. Darn!
Day 136
November 23, 2009
Dear Diary, No double-dutching today. I know it's a little cold outside, but there were no other kids to do it with. I could double dutch in the snow! Well, as long as it wasn't to deep. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. Time for bed, goodnight!
Day 135
November 18, 2009
Dear Diary, Kayla is so lucky, her parents let her stay up late on school nights. My parents make me go to bed early, but at least I get to stay up on the weekends. It's kind of nice to read or watch tv, or play on the computer once my sister is asleep.
Day 134
November 12, 2009
Dear Diary, I begged my mom to take me to the bookstore after school. Sometimes I just like to go there and hang out while I read. They have the comfiest couches, and you can just read. You don't even have to buy any books. It was fun for a little while, until my little sister kept pestering me!
Day 133
November 4, 2009
Dear Diary, Way to go Dad! He knew he messed up about the anniversary, so when my mom came home he had flowers and told her he made a reservation for dinner. The sitter came over to stay with Catherine and me. I didn't mind, they went to some fancy French restaurant anyway, not my kind of food.
Day 132
November 1, 2009
Dear Diary, Daddy is in big trouble with my mom. He totally forgot that today is their anniversary. She brought out this little present right before breakfast, and you could tell by the look on his face that he had no idea what the present was for. Poor Mom! I know she was disappointed, but she didn't say anything. That's when you know you're really in trouble with my mom, when she gets quiet.
Day 131
October 27, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm trying so hard to stay away from my little sister. She has this really bad cold and a fever. You should hear her talk, her voice sounds all froggy. I do not need to get sick! I have Battle of the Books and so many other things to do. Please don't get sick, please don't get sick.
Day 130
October 22, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom and I started to read part of a chapter book together every night before I go to bed. I still do my own reading, and it's not like I couldn't read the book all by myself, but it's kind of nice to just get to listen. We read one or two chapters every night. I like it.
Day 129
October 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I just saw the funniest video that my dad showed me on the computer. It's this adorable little baby dancing to a Beyonce' song. It is the funniest thing! It looks like the baby actually knows the dance moves in the video. Too cute-
Day 128
October 14, 2009
Dear Diary, I've had such a hard time getting up for school lately. You know how I love to sleep in! Well, now that it's so dark in the morning I don't want to wake up. Mom comes in several times to get me out of bed. This morning she sent Catherine in to wake me up. That worked since she was jumping all over me in my bed! But I love sleep...
Day 127
October 9, 2009
Dear Diary, My parents finally listened to me about not getting any privacy with Catherine around. She was in my room all the time. So they turned the lock around on my bedroom door, and said I'm allowed to lock it if I'm in there reading or whatever. But I have to unlock it as soon as my mom or dad knocks. What a relief!
Day 126
October 4, 2009
Dear Diary, My little sister can be so sweet sometimes, but other times she scares me. If I don't give her something she wants, she says "I'm going to smack you!" And I think Catherine means it. I think it was easier when she was a baby and just smiled and drooled and didn't say very much.
Day 125
September 27, 2009
Dear Diary, The zoo was really neat, and we finally got to see the new baby giraffe that was born. It didn't look like a baby, but he was cute. The zoo keeper said Hamisi was 164 pounds and 6 feet 4 inches tall when he was born! Wow! Now we're just hanging out waiting for my parents to come home. The weekend went by so fast I didn't really have a chance to miss them, but I'm glad I'll see them tonight-
Day 124
September 26, 2009
Dear Diary, So far it's been fun having Nana and Granddad here. We're actually going to the zoo after Catherine wakes up from her nap. It's hard to not go in there and wake her up myself, just so we can go already. I know, I have to be patient, but sometimes that's hard to do. I think I'll go read another chapter in my book.
Day 123
September 22, 2009
Dear Diary, My parents are going away next weekend, and Nana and Grand dad are coming to stay with us while they're gone. I don't think they're going very far away. We'll probably go to the Franklin Park Zoo. Nana loves the zoo, and now that Catherine is old enough, she does too. Friday, hurry and get here!
Day 122
September 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I love to read, but right now I feel like my eyeballs are tired. I've been reading so much lately, trying to finish for the Battle of the Books. I think my head is spinning! My mom says it's good to love to read, but that I need to take a break. I've even been reading on the bus on my way home from school!
Day 121
September 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I only have two more books to read for the Battle of the Books, and I better hurry, since we start meeting in a couple weeks. Then we have to do all the studying and practice quizzes to get ready for January when we compete against the whole district. Last year we did awesome, so I'm hoping to make the team again. Time to go read!
Day 120
September 5, 2009
Dear Diary, I love being back at school, but it was nice to be able to sleep in today since it's Saturday. During the week, I have to get up when it's still dark outside! If I'm not up early, then I'll miss the bus. Maybe that's why I make up for it on the weekends.
Day 119
August 29, 2009
Dear Diary, My mom rules! She came home from the store last night and had found a whole bunch of outfits for school. Usually I like to go shopping with my mom so I can pick out my own clothes, but she did really good this time. There was only one shirt I didn't like the color of, so that's awesome! School, here I come!
Day 118
August 25, 2009
Dear Diary, We went shopping for school clothes, and I had a really hard time finding things I liked. Everything seemed so tight and short, and I like to be comfortable. I guess that's why I wear a lot of jeans and capris with shirts. Mom said, don't worry, that we'll find my style clothes. Better be soon, school starts next week!
Day 117
August 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm taking a break from reading and want to go out and double dutch, but there's nobody around to do it with. It's boring jumping rope by yourself. I only like double dutch. Someday my little sister Catherine will be old enough, and then we'll only need one more person, but that's a long way away since she's only 2!
Day 116
August 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Now that we're home from vacation, I'm going to try to get as many of the Battle of the Books read before school starts as I can. I love to read, and there's not much else I want to do right now. We only have about 2 more weeks of summer anyway. That's it??? I better get started!
Day 115
August 7, 2009
Dear Diary, How can we be back home already? Our vacation went by so fast, I want to go back! That's why I didn't have more time to write in my diary, we were so busy doing things. We ate at this restaurant that felt like a rainforest inside, and we did go cart racing. It was a blast! My dad said maybe we can go to Orlando again next summer. Oh, please!!!
Day 114
August 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Orlando is the best! We already went to Disney and Islands of Adventure. I think my favorite was Disney. Space Mountain was so cool! Then at night we come home and swim in my cousins' pool. We don't have a swimming pool back home, so that's fun too. Well, we're off to go shopping at the outlet mall-
Day 113
July 30, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so glad my books came today, because we leave tomorrow for Orlando! Now at least I'll have something to read on the plane and in the airport while we're waiting. I'm so excited to just be there already! We're going to Disney and who knows what else. Can't wait!
Day 112
July 26, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom went ahead and ordered three of the books from the Battle of the Books list. Hopefully by the time I finish reading those, there were will be other ones from the list back in the library. I'll keep checking since I'm there all the time anyway. I can't wait till the books get here! I have no new books to read right now-
Day 111
July 21, 2009
Dear Diary, I love my sleep, and now that my little sister Catherine is sleeping in a bed instead of a crib, I'm not sleeping as much. She keeps coming into my room in the middle of the night. She says she's hungry, or thirsty, or whatever. Mom says it's just a phase, and she'll stop. Easy for you to say when she's not coming in to wake you up Mom!
Day 110
July 18, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so mad! I wanted to get started on the "Battle of the Books" list for next school year. Well, my mom took me to the library, and none of the books are in. Not one! Every book on the list has already been checked out, and there is a waiting list for the rest of the summer. Mom says maybe we can buy a couple of them online to get me started. I hope so, or I'll never be ready for "Battle of the Books"!
Day 109
July 7, 2009
Dear Diary, Chinese food for dinner tonight! Mom said I can invite Kayla to come over too. I didn't even think of that! If she comes over, we can play outside after dinner. We still need one more person to double dutch...
Day 108
July 5, 2009
Dear Diary, We're going to the Frog Pond. It's this park where you can iceskate in the winter, and in the summer they have a spray fountain and pool. My little sister Catherine really liked it last summer, and this is the first time we're going this year to swim. Better go find my bathing suit!
Day 107
June 29, 2009
Dear Diary, We were at Nana and Granddad's last weekend. It's fun to do that sometimes. Catherine and I have to share a room. She goes to bed way before I do so it's okay. Nana took us to some big craft fair. It wasn't my favorite thing to do, but that's the way it goes. Next time she said we could go to the museum.
Day 106
June 20, 2009
Dear Diary, I can't believe I have to wait a whole month before we go to Florida. I thought we were leaving as soon as school got out, but my parents said we don't go to Orlando until the end of July. No fair! I'm so excited to see my cousins and go to Disney! I've never been to Disney before. I bet it'll be great!
Day 105
June 18, 2009
Dear Diary, This week has gone by so fast! Tomorrow is our last day of school too. We haven't really done very much work this week since the teacher already collected all of our books. Mostly we've been playing games. I still need to have Kayla sign my memory book. She wanted to go last since she's my bestest frind, so I saved a whole page just for her!
Day 104
June 12, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm spending the night tonight at Chloe's house! It's always so much fun sleeping at her house because her parents order pizza and let us stay up late. Usually we play games, or listen to music, maybe watch a movie. I still need to get my stuff ready so I better go!
Day 103
June 7, 2009
Dear Diary, I am so looking forward to the last day of school on June 19th. I love school and all, but I really cannot wait to be able to sleep in. I love to sleep! The only problem is that sometimes my little sister gets bored because she wakes up so early, and she'll sneak in my room to wake me up, little stinker!
Day 102
May 31, 2009
Dear Diary, Yesterday was my little sister's birthday party. We just had family come over. Catherine got this really cute game that's an elephant that sprays butterflies out of his trunk. You're supposed to try to catch them with butterfly nets. It was fun teaching Catherine how to do it. She didn't really care about catching the butterflies, I think she just liked dancing around in them!
Day 101
May 27, 2009
Dear Diary, Holy cow! We won, we won! It was fun racing to see which team could hit the buzzer first when they asked a question. But even if you were first to buzz in, it didn't matter unless you had the right answer. Our team won gift certificates and a bunch of school supplies for our classes. I can't wait to do Battle of the Books next year! I have to start reading the new books this summer-
Day 100
May 20, 2009
Dear Diary, Whew! My brain is tired from all the studying for our competition. I'm not really nervous, just excited. One week from today is the big day. I was going to study some more tonight, but I think I'm going to take a break for today. I think the Red Sox are on tonight, maybe I'll just chill with my mom and watch the game.
Day 99
May 17, 2009
Dear Diary, This week I'm going to be super busy! Our Battle of the Books team has practice every day after school to get ready for the competition. It's May 27th, which is almost here! I'm really excited because I read all the books and this is my first year where I'll actually get to compete. Last year I was an alternate, and since they never used me, I didn't get to do very much. How cool!
Day 98
May 7, 2009
Dear Diary, My parents are planning a trip to Florida this summer! I've never been to Florida before, and I think we might even get to go to Disney! I hope so, that would be so cool! My Aunt and Uncle and cousins live near Orlando, so we'll probably stay with them. Summer hurry up and get here!
Day 97
May 3, 2009
Dear Diary, I have been not so graceful today. First, I was messing with my dad's sunglasses, and I accidentally broke them. And then, when I was in my parents' room, I was trying to reach something on top of the tall dresser. Well, I knocked over my mom's favorite glass candle and broke it. It was a heart shaped one my dad had given her a long time ago. I felt so bad, but it really was an accident.
Day 96
April 26, 2009
Dear Diary, My little sister Catherine is turning into a monster lately. I'm not saying that to be mean, but she has been really monster-like this week. She always yells "Molly, no. Molly, no." if I have anything she wants. And she cries and screams all the time. I can't even hide from her in my room because she follows me in there. Ahh!!!
Day 95
April 23, 2009
Dear Diary, It's been so busy this week that I haven't even had a chance to tell you about my birthday party! It was pretty fun! We went to dinner at this nice Italian restaurant where they give you pizza dough, cheese and pepperoni to make your own pizza while you wait for your dinner. And the waiters all sang "Happy Birthday" to me when they brought our hot fudge sundaes. Yummy! We stayed up late playing games and dancing in my room. That was the most fun part!
Day 94
April 18, 2009
Dear Diary, Tonight my friends are coming over for my birthday! We're going out to dinner and they they're going to spend the night. It's Kayla, Bethany, and Chloe. I wish they would hurry up and get here, I'm ready!
Day 93
April 16, 2009
Dear Diary, My birthday is Saturday! I'm so excited it's finally here. I wonder what my parents are going to give me for a present...maybe a gift card for the book store? That would be cool!
Day 92
April 9, 2009
Dear Diary, We're going to color eggs tonight. I like to use all different colors, and make mine look all swirly. Then my parents write on each egg with a crayon how much it's worth. Some of them are only a dime or quarter, but some are a dollar. When they hide the eggs this weekend, you get to cash in the eggs you find.
Day 91
April 7, 2009
Dear Diary, Kayla came over after school so we could do our homework and then play. But, my sister Catherine would not leave us alone! She kept climbing all over me, and trying to sit on me. Mom says it's just because she missed me while I was at school, how annoying! I love her, but I need my space!
Day 90
March 27, 2009
Dear Diary, It's almost April, which means it's almost my birthday! Mom said this weekend we'll have to sit down and get planning. Sounds good to me! I wish I could have a slumber party at a museum! Wouldn't that be cool?!?!?
Day 89
March 23, 2009
Dear Diary, The weekend went by so fast that it seems like Nana and Grandad were hardly here! But we had fun playing board games. Grandad helped my dad work on his car while Nana played with Catherine and me. I wish I was still small enough to sit on Nana's lap like Catherine does.
Day 88
March 21, 2009
Dear Diary, Nana and Granddad are coming for the weekend! They should be here right before dinner. I love when they come to visit! That means I get to sleep on the air mattress in the den. I hope Nana brings her little dog with her.
Day 87
March 17, 2009
Dear Diary, My friend Kayla got one of those new cool boards that's like a skateboard, but it's a little different. It's really flexible, and you slide your legs back and forth to make it move. It looks really easy, but you really have to balance. After a few tries I got the hang of it. I want to get one too so Kayla and I can do it together. Maybe for my birthday.
Day 86
March 11, 2009
Dear Diary, Uh-oh. When I came home from school today I didn't know my little sister Catherine was still taking her nap and I accidentally slammed the door shut. Now she's awake and grumpy because she didn't sleep long enough. Sorry Mom!
Day 85
March 8, 2009
Dear Diary, You know how I love sleeping in, right? Well, it stinks when we have the time change and instead of sleeping in, I actually lose an hour of sleep! Whoever came up with the idea to move the clocks ahead obviously doesn't like to sleep. The good news though is that means the library is already open, and Kayla and I are going together-
Day 84
February 28, 2009
Dear Diary, The pollen count must be high. I can just feel it. I can't smell anything, my nose is all stuffy, and my ears are itching me. Better tell Mom so she can get my nasal spray again. At least it's only in the spring that they're this bad.
Day 83
February 23, 2009
Dear Diary, We went to a birthday party yesterday for one of my cousins. It was at some ceramic place where you paint your own piece of pottery. Something different, but it was kind of fun. I made, or painted, a butterfly that you can hang on the wall. We can pick them up next week. Hopefully it turned out good.
Day 82
February 22, 2009
Dear Diary, We've been learning a lot about the presidents in school since we just had Presidents' Day. It's really interesting to learn about Lincoln and George Washington. I've never been to Washington D.C., but someday I hope to go visit. There is so much amazing history there, all the museums and monuments. The two things I want to see the most are the Lincoln Memorial and the Declaration of Indepedence. They have the actual documents on display!
Day 81
February 19, 2009
Dear Diary, Our computer keeps crashing. I wanted to go online so I could reserve some books at the library. It makes it so much easier, and I love that I can check out as many as I want at one time. No computer means no getting online though. Maybe when my dad gets home from work he'll let me borrow his laptop. That's an idea-
Day 80
February 9, 2009
Dear Diary, When my mom came to talk to me last night after I was sent to my room, I knew I needed to apologize. After I did, Mom actually apologized for yelling at me too. She said even though she apologized that didn't mean I was off the hook. I already knew that. Still, it's kind of nice to know that no matter how old you are, you should apologize for things you do wrong to other people. Mom doesn't usually yell, maybe she was just feeling grumpy too-
Day 79
February 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I must be in a grumpy mood today. Maybe it's the weather. I just got sent to my room for talking back to my mom. I didn't mean to, it just sort of happened. I was right in the middle of a really good book and Mom was calling for me to come set the table. I was just going to finish the chapter and then go down. Well, that wasn't what she wanted. So, when she gave me a hard time about it, I kind of snapped back at her. Yikes! I knew as soon as I said it I was in trouble.
Day 78
January 29, 2009
Dear Diary, We went to the book store afterschool today just to hang out. Mom wanted to look for some books. I just love to find one to read and cuddle up on one of those big comfy chairs. It's nice and quiet, and smells good with the bagel shop in there. Ooh, that reminds me, I have to hurry up and finish the next book for "Battle of the Books"!
Day 77
January 27, 2009
Dear Diary, Oh my gosh! I must have jinxed myself when I said that Catherine doesn't ruin my stuff anymore. When I came home from school today she had found my favorite chapstick. She figured out how to get it open, and drew all over the back of my bedroom door with it. I guess at least my room smells like cherries now! Mom says it's okay, she can get it out. Little sisters!
Day 76
January 22, 2009
Dear Diary, It's kind of nice that my little sister Catherine is starting to learn to not get into everything. It used to be she put everything in her mouth. And she would come into my room and tear pages out of my books and everything. It's hard not to get mad even though I know she doesn't know any better. But finally she has learned what the word "no" means. Now if she can just learn to play board games, that would be awesome!
Day 75
January 16, 2009
Dear Diary, Chinese food tonight! Dad is supposed to be getting it on his way home from work. Not too much going on this weekend. It's supposed to snow again-big surprise! Maybe we can go sledding or something. That's cool-
Day 74
January 9, 2009
Dear Diary, We're going to the zoo tomorrow. I like going when it's cold outside because it's not so crowded, and you get to see more. But, not all the animals can be outside in the cold and snow. The lions and tigers usually can, but not the giraffes or kangaroos. I read that kangaroos can actually get frostbite on their ears!
Day 73
January 7, 2009
Dear Diary, My little sister Catherine did the funniest thing at dinner tonight. We were all eating and it was pretty quiet. All of a sudden she let out this big burp! It sounded so loud I thought it was my dad! We were all laughing because it's not like she meant to do it. I don't think toddlers know how to make themselves burp. Anyways, once we were all laughing she just sat there and smiled-
Day 72
December 29, 2008
Dear Diary, Unfortunately, Grand dad and Nana went back home. They had to go before the next snowstorm hit, which it did today! I think I'm going to snuggle up in my bed and read one of the books I brought home from the library. Good thing I brought so many books since you can't drive to the library now in this storm!
Day 71
December 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Grand dad and Nana made it from Brockton, but now they may be stuck here for a little while. It's been snowing and doesn't look like it's going to stop! Not that I mind them being stuck here with us. Grand dad loves to play cards, and he is teaching me to play Euchre. It's kind of hard, but a lot of fun.
Day 70
December 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Grand dad and Nana are supposed to be coming to Boston tomorrow. I'm hoping they'll be able to make it even though its been snowing pretty bad. Nana said they even lost power a few days ago from that really bad storm. That would not be fun. We'll see what the weather is like tomorrow I guess.
Day 69
December 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Yesterday was our last day of school until January! And since one of my most favorite things to do is sleep, I hope I get to sleep in for the next 2 weeks! I did this morning, or at least I did until I heard Catherine running around going "Sissy?"..."Sissy?" She was looking all over for me. It is kind of flattering that she loves me so much.
Day 68
December 13, 2008
Dear Diary, My little sister Catherine keeps following me around calling me "Sissy". She's fun to play with, but sometimes I feel bad when I just want to be in my room by myself and read or something. She's only eighteen months old, so I know she doesn't understand personal space. But sometimes it's really hard to have her always wanting me! And there she is knocking at my door right now!
Day 67
December 9, 2008
Dear Diary, My class went to the Science Discovery Museum yesterday. You know I love museums! I think my favorite part was the Sea of Clouds exhibit. It's hard to explain, but it's this big round thing with a bunch of clouds/fog on top. You can actually stick your hands in it, really cool! It's supposed to help you learn about fog and clouds and how they form. The time went by so fast at the museum. I was sad when our teacher said it was time to go back to school.
Day 66
November 29, 2008
Dear Diary, It's always amazing to me to think about Thanksgiving and why we celebrate it every year. The pilgrims came here, to Massachusetts, in 1620. So many pilgrims had died on the long journey aboard the Mayflower. The Wampanoag Indians helped the pilgrims survive and learn to grow crops. Thanksgiving was their celebration together of the harvest, and we still celebrate it today.
Day 65
November 23, 2008
Dear Diary, We're reading a new book this month for "Battle of the Books". It's a really funny story about a girl with big ears who gets teased by these mean bullies at her school. I know it doesn't sound funny, it sounds mean, but it really isn't. They somehow get stuck on an island together after falling into a dumpster! I can't wait to see how it ends!
Day 64
November 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Since we can't really go anywhere with Catherine still being sick, Mom and I decided to bake pumpkin bread today. It's still in the oven right now, but it smells delicious. I love pumpkin bread! Of course, we only make it in the fall, not in the summer or any other time. It would be weird to eat pumpkin bread for the Fourth of July or something! Uh-oh, I just sneezed three times. I better not be getting what Catherine has!
Day 63
November 11, 2008
Dear Diary, It's so hard staying away from my little sister Catherine when she's sick. Not to be gross, but she has stuff coming out of her nose and she's all coughing this nasty cough. Well, she's so little that she doesn't understand she's sick, she just likes to climb up on my lap and cuddle with me. Normally I don't mind, but not when she's sick. I don't want to be sick too!
Day 62
November 6, 2008
Dear Diary, Things in Massachusetts get a little crazy around Thanksgiving time. I don't know if it's because the first Thanksgiving in 1621 was held in Plymouth Massachusetts or what. People really seem to go all out around here. Plymouth is actually only about an hour from here, which is awesome bacause there is so much history there. You can walk through the historic homes and they even have a "Pilgrim Stroll" where people dress up like pilgrims.
Day 61
November 5, 2008
Dear Diary, My stomach will not stop growling! I already had a snack, and dinner won't be ready for a little while until Daddy gets home. I don't know how I could be hungry already. Usually Mom won't let me eat this close to dinner, but maybe I can have a small thing to eat. I'm starving!
Day 60
October 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I think I ate way too much candy and cookies today at school! I love sweets, and with all the parties and fun, there were treats everywhere. Now my stomach just aches. Mom said just take it easy for the rest of the afternoon, and I'll be fine for trick or treating, as long as I don't eat anymore sweets. Just the thought of eating anymore candy makes me want to get sick.
Day 59
October 26, 2008
Dear Diary, We had a lot of fun with Nana and Grand dad yesterday. I wish they lived a little bit closer, but they've lived in that same house forever, and I doubt they'll ever move. Nana always pinches my cheeks and tells me how big I'm getting. It doesn't hurt, it's just funny.
Day 58
October 25, 2008
Dear Diary, No sleeping in today unfortunately. We're going to Brockton to visit my Nana and Granddad. I love sleeping in, but I'm anxious to get there. We haven't seen them for a while. It's only a couple hours away, not too far. Nana is making chocolate mousse special for Catherine and me because she knows we love it. Be home later-
Day 57
October 23, 2008
Dear Diary, Last night our school had a program at school for the book fair. It was funny seeing all the teachers dressed up in Halloween costumes and reading Halloween stories to the younger kids. I almost didn't recognize the p.e. teacher because he had on a giant gorilla costume. Dad said I could pick out a few books to buy at the book fair. I always love getting new books to add to my collection.
Day 56
October 19, 2008
Dear Diary, This morning we went out for breakfast. Usually I only have cereal for breakfast because I'm hungry first thing when I wake up. It was definitely worth waiting for blueberry pancakes with whipped creme on top. I wish we could eat breakfast like that every Sunday morning.
Day 55
October 17, 2008
Dear Diary, I tried to play "Chutes and Ladders" today with my little sister Catherine. She just kept spinning the spinner no matter what number it landed on. Then she was chewing the pieces and crying when I told her she was supposed to go down the chute. Mom said maybe Catherine isn't quite ready for a board game. I think next time we'll try just playing with her babydolls or something.
Day 54
October 14, 2008
Dear Diary, The Sox lost! I saw the first half of the game, but it wasn't going good. Oh well, what can you do? At least the series isn't over yet, and they can still come back and win it. Anyways, it was kind of nice having a long weekend off from school.
Day 53
October 13, 2008
Dear Diary, No school today! It's Columbus Day. And tonight Mom and Dad are having a couple friends over to watch the Red Sox game. It should be fun. I probably won't get to see the whole game since it's on so late, but hopefully most of it.
Day 52
October 7, 2008
Dear Diary, We like hardly ever eat fast food. Mom and Dad would rather go out to a regular restaurant than eat fast food. But tonight, Dad ended up working late, and Mom had to help watch my cousins, so nobody had time to make dinner. So we went to a fast food burger place for the first time in a while. The burger was just okay, but the milkshake was awesome!
Day 51
October 5, 2008
Dear Diary, I finished reading my first book for the Battle of the Books, The Homework Machine. It was pretty funny. I can't wait to see what the next book we read is. My teacher is going to give us the book tomorrow. I better go, I hear Dad calling me from downstairs.
Day 50
September 30, 2008
Dear Diary, Double dutch is so much fun, but you really need at least 3 people to do it. That's the hard part! I can't wait until my little sister Catherine is old enough to double dutch, but I think that may be a while since she's only a toddler. Sometimes if I find one other friend on our block to do it, then my mom will help with the ropes. She's the best!
Day 49
September 28, 2008
Dear Diary, My family went to the Boston Children's Museum. We hadn't been there in a while, so Dad thought it might be fun. And it was! They have this really cool 3-D puzzle that you can actually climb through. Or at least the kids can, the parents just get to watch. I think that was my favorite part. They also had this really neat Japanese House that was made of silk and looked exactly like you would see in Japan.
Day 48
September 24, 2008
Dear Diary, They did it! The Red Sox won last night and now they're in the playoffs! Dad must be downstairs making Chinese food for dinner. I can smell it already! For as long as I can remember, Chinese food is my favorite. I think I better go check, maybe I can sneak a bite-
Day 47
September 23, 2008
Dear Diary, The Red Sox play tonight, and if they win then they'll be in the playoffs! I hope they can do it. I'll only get to see the first inning or two of the game since it's a school night. Mom said she'll record it for me in case I want to watch it. It's just not the same as watching it live, especially once you know the final score. Go Red Sox!!!
Day 46
September 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Kayla's mom asked if I could go with them today to go run some errands. Mom said as long as I'm back by dinnertime that would be fine. I'm not anxious to run errands, but Kayla and I always have fun together. I hope her mom drives us in her convertible. It's so much fun riding with the top down!
Day 45
September 15, 2008
Dear Diary, That first book I'm reading for the Battle of the Books is pretty good so far. It's like a bunch of dairy entries from different characters in the book. And it is really funny! I was even trying to read it on the bus on the way to school this morning, but it was kind of bumpy. I'm going to go read the next chapter right now.
Day 44
September 11, 2008
Dear Diary, Today is September 11th, so our school celebrated Patriot Day. In class we wrote poems about what it means to be an American. Then we had a class discussion about September 11th and what happened. I was only a toddler when it happened, but my teacher said he remembers it, so he told us more about it. There were a lot of very brave people that day.
Day 43
September 10, 2008
Dear Diary, We got our first chapter book for "Battle of the Books". It's called The Homework Machine by Dan Gutman. Sounds strange, but I'm anxious to get started reading it. Maybe after dinner I'll have time. It's hard to read sometimes with my little sister Catherine around. She always tries to grab the book out of my hand. And if I'm not careful and leave it where she can reach it, she'll eat the pages!
Day 42
September 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Tomorrow our teacher is going to start our class in the "Battle of the Books". It's this reading competition that goes on all year between all the schools. I think it will be lots of fun because I love to read. There are fifteen chapter books we have to read over the next several months. Then we get ready for the big quiz bowl in May. That's all I know for now, I'll find out more tomorrow.
Day 41
September 3, 2008
Dear Diary, I really do like school, but I already miss getting to sleep in. I keep my room dark like a cave and get all bundled up in my comforter. Ahhhhhhh....well at least I can still sleep in on the weekends. How many more days till Saturday?
Day 40
August 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I cannot believe we beat the White Sox last night. Not only did we beat them, but we shut them out! My mom was doing her little happy dance all around the house. She cracks me up. I never used to watch much baseball, but then Mom asked me to watch with her. I'm not as obsessed with it as she is, but I like it now too.
Day 39
August 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Only one more week of sleeping in and then school starts. Mom said in a few more days she wants to start making me go to bed earlier and get up earlier to get ready for school. I'm not sure why we have to ruin the rest of summer by not sleeping in. I'm just so not a morning person.
Day 38
August 23, 2008
Dear Diary, My friend Kayla and I were practicing our spelling while we were jumping rope today. Why does Massachusetts have to be so hard to spell? I get all lost about which letter I'm on and then I forget to jump when the rope comes around. It would be so much easier to live in Ohio or Iowa for spelling.
Day 37
August 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Tonight Dad made Asian orange chicken for dinner. It was a little spicy, but I thought it was pretty good. My little sister Catherine would only eat the rice! She's not a big fan of foods that are mixed together or have any sauce. She really likes plain pasta. Too boring for me.
Day 36
August 18, 2008
Dear Diary, I cannot stop sneezing today! It's so annoying. It makes it hard to talk or read, or do anything.(three more sneezes!) Tissues are worthless to use. I've been sneezing into a soft t-shirt I carry with me. Kind of odd, but it works.
Day 35
August 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Only a couple more weeks till school starts. I know some kids say they would rather be on vacation, but I like school. Don't get me wrong, I love vacations too! But after a few weeks, I get bored and I'm ready for school to start again.
Day 34
August 11, 2008
Dear Diary, We spent the day with Grandpa yesterday. I love to listen to the stories he tells about our family history. I'm thinking about starting a notebook to write down the stories he tells. I'm afraid I won't remember them all!
Day 33
July 24, 2008
Dear Diary, I got to go to Six Flags today! It was so exciting. We went on a whole bunch of rides and then there was a glow-in-the-dark parade. I saw batman and robin, scooby doo, and so many other characters. There was even a glowing dragon that breathed smoke! I'm really tired though, so I'm going to go get some sleep.
Day 32
July 21, 2008
Dear Diary, I hope that it stops raining so much! There have been so many thunderstorms this week! It's all sunny out and then BOOM, a giant storm out of nowhere! We got completely soaked yesterday while we were outside. Mom says we need the rain, but I'm tired of playing inside.
Day 31
July 18, 2008
Dear Diary, Today I went to the park with my mom and my friend Sally. We had so much fun! She brought her puppy and we played catch with him forever. He has so much energy for a little dog and he is so cute! I'm so happy that I am seeing my friends this summer. I miss them so much when I have vacations!
Day 30
July 15, 2008
Dear Diary, I am finally feeling better. I thought that my cold was never going to go away. Mom let me watch movies all day yesterday and I got to eat a ton of icecream! I don't like being sick, but I wish that I could do that more often!
Day 29
July 12, 2008
Dear Diary, Oh, I feel so sick! I have the worst cold ever. I'm all stuffed up and my head hurts. I think I'm going to just sleep today. I hope I feel better tomorrow.
Day 28
July 9, 2008
Dear Diary, Today I went to the mall with some of my friends from school. We went shopping and ate lunch at the food court. I got chinese food, of course. It's my favorite food to get whenever I go to the mall. We had so much fun. I'm really going to miss them until the next time we all hang out!
Day 27
July 6, 2008
Dear Diary, The museum was really cool. Everything was so interesting to see! I hope that we can go back again soon. Today was really hot out. We went swimming at the local YMCA for hours! I had so much fun. But, next time I think I will put more sunscreen on. My arms are burned a little bit.
Day 26
July 3, 2008
Dear Diary, I love learning about history so much! Mom and I are going to a museum later today. I hope I get to see a lot of sculptures and pictures about the American Revolution! My teacher said that it was one of the most important events in the United States' history. I think I should find out what it is, so that I can tell my teacher about it next year!
Day 25
June 30, 2008
Dear Diary, I went to the park today with some of my friends. First, we played tag and frisbee. Then, we had a big picnic with our parents. It was almost like a party! After we ate, we played a whole bunch of card games. Have you ever heard of go fish? I didn't win a lot, but it was still fun!
Day 24
June 27, 2008
Dear Diary, We went to the zoo today! It was called the Franklin Park Zoo and it was really cool. I never realized how tall giraffes were. They always seemed tall in the pictures, but up close they are humungous! I love the zoo because there are so many animals to see. I hope that I get to go back soon!
Day 23
June 24, 2008
Dear Diary, Oh my goodness, you should hear all of the thunder outside! It's like there's an orchestra playing in the backyard. And it is actually hailing, too. You know, balls of ice that randomly appear in the summer. I hope all this rain stops soon. I want to go outside and play!
Day 22
June 21, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so happy that it is the summer. Especially because my family and I went to the duckboat parade for the Celtics! There were so many people there! The whole city was green, green, green. Dad put me up on his shoulders so that I could see better. The trophy was really big. The players seem like giants on TV, but they looked super tiny on those boats.
Day 21
June 18, 2008
Dear Diary, Today I decided to start reading the last book I bought at the book store. It's pretty good, but I think I'm going to finish it really fast. Maybe I need to start reading bigger books because I finish them in just a couple of days each! I guess I read really fast.
Day 20
June 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Summer Vacation!!! It's warm and beautiful and its raining green. Yes, green. There is so much pollen that I don't think I will ever stop sneezing. I love summer, but these allergies need to go.
Day 19
June 12, 2008
Dear Diary, I got to bring home all of my work from school this year today. There was so much of it! I'm really going to miss my teacher and all of my friends from class next year. But, I will definitely be seeing them over the summer. Mary says she is going to have a pool party. How exciting!
Day 18
June 9, 2008
Dear Diary, Ugh! It is sooo hot! My mom just told me that it was 97 degrees! This isn't Florida. This is New England. Where's the snow?! I need to go find some nice cool icecubes to chew on for a while. I'm going to go look in the freezer. I bet we have a whole bunch in there!
Day 17
June 6, 2008
Dear Diary, I went to a graduation earlier tonight. My mom's friend's daughter was graduating from highschool. It was so cool. They all had these blue gowns on, even the guys! They even threw their hats up in the air at the end, just like in the movies! I can't wait until my graduation someday. I Will be so grown up then!
Day 16
June 3, 2008
Dear Diary, So, today I decided to clean my room. It's really messy and mom keeps asking me to pick it up. Well, after I finished putting away all of my clothes I saw something shiny on the floor. It was my silver dollar that my dad had gotten me last year when he went on a business trip! I thought I had lost that forever ago. I'm so happy I found it!
Day 15
May 31, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm so tired today! Mondays are always the longest day of the week. I have to get up so early. Atleast school was really fun today. We aren't going to learn any new things this year because we only have one more week to go! I can't wait for the summer. Sand, Sun, and Spending Time with Friends. What more could a girl ask for?
Day 13
May 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I finished the first book already! I read really fast, so it shouldn't take me too long to finish the others too. I love reading. I get to be someone else in a whole other world. It's so cool to pretend you are somewhere that is different than where you are. Like, living in the jungle or during the Renaissance! Reading books are like going on an adventure.
Day 12
May 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom took me to the bookstore, like I wanted, today! They had all of the summer reading books out on big tables. There were so many to choose from! I picked out 3 books that I'm going to read. They are on the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and Anne Frank. She was just my age when she wrote her book. I hope that these books are really interesting to read.
Day 11
May 22, 2008
Dear Diary, It's almost Friday! I love the weekends. You can sleep late, watch tv, and play outside. I'm going to ask mom if we can go to the bookstore again. I finished the last book I got there and I want to start reading a new one. Maybe I will get my summer reading books. It's always good to start early and be ahead of the game!
Day 10
May 19, 2008
Dear Diary, The museum was so cool! There here millions of paintings and stuff everywhere! Some of it was really weird though. All of the men were wearing tights. Daddy never wears tights. I bet he would look funny though.Day 9
May 16, 2008
Dear Diary,Yay it's Friday! I can't wait for the weekend. It's going to be so much fun. We are going to go to the Museum of Fine Art. It's really big and going to be really cool. I've never been before, but my grandpa says that it is the coolest museum he has ever seen. I'm so excited!
Day 8
May 13, 2008
Dear Diary, I went to the bookstore today with my mom. She let me look at books forever! I can't ever decide what I want to buy. There are just so many to choose from. I ended up getting this pretty one called Coke or Pepsi. You fill out pages with your friends. It looks like a lot of fun.I think I'm going to start right now!
Day 7
May 10, 2008
Dear Diary, Hmm. Not much really happened today. At school we are learning about poetry. My teacher showed us a poem by Robert Frost. It was really cool. We got to draw pictures with markers of the poem. "Two roads diverged in the wood... I took the road less traveled by." My picture was really pretty.
Day 6
May 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Yay Red Sox! Mom let me stay up to watch the game last night against Detroit. She loves baseball a lot. This summer we are going to go to Fenway Park to watch a real game! I've never been there before. Mom says they are the best hotdogs in the world... Fenway Franks! I don't think that they are as good as grandma's though. She is the best cook ever.
Day 5
May 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, not much really happened today. I ate breakfast, watched some TV, played with my little sister, and listened to music. It was pretty fun but I hope I can do something more exciting next weekend!
Day 4
May 1, 2008
Dear Diary, Ugh. It was so gross out today. It rained all day and was really cold. I can't wait until I can go outside and play with my friends every day. The summer is so nice and sunny. Well, I'm off to go find something to do... inside.
Day 3
April 28, 2008
Dear Diary, Back to school again! I was so happy I got to see my friends. We played double dutch and tag today. It was so much fun! I hope we get to play double dutch again tomorrow. I'm starting to be really good at it!
Day 2
April 25, 2008
Dear Diary, I had so much fun today! It's school vacation, so mom took me and my little sister to the Boston Common for a picnic. It was so much fun. Mom told us about all the things that happened on the common before we were born. It was the beginning of the freedom trail and people used to leave their cows there to eat grass! I don't get why people would leave their cows there alone. Wouldn't they run away?
Day 1
April 22, 2008
Dear Diary, Today my mom took me to the book store and I bought 2 new books and this cool new diary. It is green with pink polka dots. I hope my little sister doesn't find it and get it all sticky. She always has sticky hands, and my mom is always chasing her with a washcloth. I have to get ready for dinner. I will write later.
