Morgann's Diary

Day 163

March 18, 2010

Dear Diary, I didn't know that when you rent a movie "on demand", that you only get a certain amount of time to watch it. I only got to watch half of my movie last night and thought I would finish it tonight, but it's already expired. That means I'll have to buy it again. Mom's not going to like that-

Day 162

March 12, 2010

Dear Diary, I love walking Oaklee, but it's kind of hard when she gets so excited. If she sees another dog, she just has to go say "hi", or else she'll try to drag you across the street. That happened tonight, and I almost fell! Thankfully, my mom was with me and grabbed her leash in time. Dogs!

Day 161

March 9, 2010

Dear Diary, Dentist appointment after school. Yeah for me. I'll be so glad when these braces come off, they're such a pain. I think I'll eat something good before I go because after they tighten them again I usually don't feel like eating anything because my teeth are too sore.

Day 160

March 1, 2010

Dear Diary, I knew I should have worn my shin guards for practice, but I forgot them. Well, Tina was going to kick the soccer ball and really nailed me in the leg. Now I have this huge bruise and it's really sore. I guess I'll remember my shin guards next time.

Day 159

February 24, 2010

Dear Diary, I hate when you have the perfect outfit picked out, and can't find the shoes you most want to wear. Well, I found one of the black shoes, but still can't find the other one. It makes me want to change my whole outfit when that happens!

Day 158

February 20, 2010

Dear Diary, I heard a new one from Tanner today...

 "Knock Knock"

"Who's there?"

"Cow-go"

"Cow-go Who?"

"No, Cow go MOO!!!"

Kind of cute-

Day 157

February 14, 2010

Dear Diary, Happy Valentine's Day! I already got my present yesterday! I made the team again, and I'm so excited! I felt pretty good after tryouts. I thought I kicked butt.  Even my brother said I did good, and Tanner is hardly ever nice to me. Practices start next week. I hope it's a little warmer than it is right now-

Day 156

February 9, 2010

Dear Diary, I can't believe it, but I actually feel nervous in my stomach about tryouts tomorrow. What if I don't make the team? It gets a little harder every year in competitive soccer. I'll just do my best and whatever happens, happens, right?

Day 155

February 2, 2010

Dear Diary, Soccer tryouts are coming up next week. I'm sure I'll make the team, but it's always good to keep practicing. Tanner said we could do some skill practice after dinner. Time for homework!

Day 154

January 29, 2010

Dear Diary, We were supposed to have game night tonight, but then my dad got called out for work. It's just not as fun when he doesn't play. Hopefully we can do it tomorrow instead. So, now I'm just hanging out...boring!

Day 153

January 25, 2010

Dear Diary, I have no idea how I did it, but somehow I erased all the music off my Ipod, and now I have no idea how to get it back on there. Guess I'll have to wait until my dad gets home, hopefully he can figure it out. I just hope it's not gone forever, that was a lot of songs I had on there!

Day 152

January 17, 2010

Dear Diary, My friend Tina was acting kind of rude today. She invited me to her house, and then she hardly paid any attention to me. She was busy chatting online, and totally ignoring me. After awhile of trying to talk to her, I told her I wanted to go home. Why invite a friend over if you're not even going to talk to them? She's never done that before, I hope it's not a new thing.

Day 151

January 14, 2010

Dear Diary, We almost got another dog! It was this really sweet Australian cattle dog my dad found at some rescue shelter. But when we brought Oaklee to meet him, they didn't get along so good. They're both sweet dogs, but not good for living in the same house I guess. I'm kind of sad, I got all excited thinking we could have 2 dogs.

Day 150

January 8, 2010

Dear Diary, Poor Oaklee! She went in the backyard to go to the bathroom, and I guess while she was out there, the sprinklers came on. It's freezing cold, and she was soaking wet! We had to dry her with the blowdryer. What a sweetie!

Day 149

January 4, 2010

Dear Diary, Oops! I forgot that I told Tina I would come over to her house yesterday. It's not like I was doing anything exciting, I just spaced out about it. Now she's all mad at me, like I did it on purpose. How can I make her believe me?

Day 148

December 28, 2009

Dear Diary, Last night my mom and I went to see "The Princess and the Frog". Tanner and Dad stayed home since it's kind of a girl movie. It was really cute! I think my favorite was the little firefly, he was funny. It feels weird that I have no school today. I can relax!

Day 147

December 24, 2009

Dear Diary, I usually like Oaklee to sleep with me, but last night she would not stop itching, so I had to kick her off my bed. Even then I could still hear her scratching, so I moved her out of my room and closed the door. She looked all sad, like I was abandoning her! Sorry Oaklee!

Day 146

December 18, 2009

Dear Diary, My cousins Gantt and Matthew are coming to spend the night tonight. Usually we all put our sleeping bags in the family room and stay up watching movies or playing games. I need to find that Yahtzee game, we haven't played that one in awhile. And Mom is nagging me to clean my room before they get here....more later!

Day 145

December 15, 2009

Dear Diary, Lately we've started watching this funniest videos show after dinner. It is really super funny! We all sit there and just laugh and laugh. I wish we had a funny video to send in. The winner every show gets like $10,000! That would be sweet!

Day 144

December 8, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm already dreading my dentist appointment tomorrow. I wish my mom would just not tell me until she picks me up after school. Now I get to go the whole day knowing it's right after school. No fun.

Day 143

December 3, 2009

Dear Diary, No fair! I got home from school today and my dad was still at home. He said he took the day off because he had some things he needed to do. I wish I could take a day off from school sometimes....that'll never happen.

Day 142

November 29, 2009

Dear Diary, I cannot believe we already go back to school tomorrow! This week went by so fast. And I haven't even started any of my homework that's due tomorrow. I have a book report to finish. At least I already read the whole book, but the I have not even started to write the report. Yikes!

Day 141

November 23, 2009

Dear Diary, I cannot believe tomorrow is our last day of school for Thanksgiving break! That rocks! Then we're going to see all my cousins and aunts and uncles. It'll be fun! I love Thanksgiving-

Day 140

November 14, 2009

Dear Diary, Dad has to work overtime tonight, so we're going over to my grandparents house for dinner. I love my grandparents, but I was kind of hoping to hang out with my friends tonight. Guess that's not happening. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

Day 139

November 12, 2009

Dear Diary, A girl on my soccer team has the most awesome new cleats! I thought my green ones were cool, but these are way better. The laces are on the side so that when you kick the ball with the top of your foot, your laces aren't in the way. Isn't that awesome? I'm not sure what my mom will say, but I'll ask her.

Day 138

November 4, 2009

Dear Diary, Man, I cannot get used to this time change yet. I feel like I'm waking up late in the morning, but it's really not. And I feel hungry before it's even dinner time. Why do we have to change our clocks anyway?

Day 137

October 28, 2009

Dear Diary, Halloween isn't really here yet, and my parents are already nagging me about not eating any candy that's gooey or too sticky. I know, I know, it sticks to my braces. That means no caramels, which I love, or anything like that. The dentist already gave me the lecture at my last appointment. I get it!

Day 136

October 22, 2009

Dear Diary, Tanner loves Halloween, especially because that's when he can use most of his knock knock jokes. Like this one:

Knock, Knock.

Who's there?

Phillip.

Phillip who?

Phillip my bag with candy!

What a goofball my brother is!

Day 135

October 19, 2009

Dear Diary, Soccer pictures are tonight. Mom says maybe we should skip buying them this time. I know we get them done every season, and yes, I have a ton of team and individual pictures already. But, my team changes every year too, and I'm not always with the same people. I can see what she's saying, they're not free, but still.

Day 134

October 12, 2009

Dear Diary, I was wondering why my mom woke me up so early this morning. I thought since today was Columbus Day that we didn't have any school. But sure enough, we did. We have this Friday off instead. Better go get ready for practice, see you later!

Day 133

October 8, 2009

Dear Diary, It's raining again. I really wanted to take Oaklee for a walk too. She's getting all hyper, running around the house. She hasn't been able to play outside very much since it's been raining for the last 2days. I think I'll just roughhouse with her a little and see if that helps. Oaklee has this rope toy she loves to play tug-of-war with.

Day 132

October 2, 2009

Dear Diary, Isn't it weird how last year we had hurricanes, but this year I don't think there have been any in the Gulf of Mexico? I don't miss them. Yes, it's all kind of exciting, and we got to miss school for a couple of days, but they can be kind of scarey too. Oh well, I just realized we hadn't had any yet this year. I think hurricane season is almost over too.

Day 131

September 27, 2009

Dear Diary, What an awesome weekend! The clinics were pretty much all day Saturday and Sunday. That would explain why I'm so tired, and my mom says there aren't enough sports drinks in the store for Tanner and me both! Tonight I'm just going to chill out and do absolutely nothing!

Day 130

September 25, 2009

Dear Diary, We have soccer clinics all weekend. It should be fun, finally the fall season is starting! I have my green cleats all ready to go. I think I need some new shin guards though. My ones from last year seem a little small. Gotta go take a shower, we're going to the football game. See ya!

Day 129

September 17, 2009

Dear Diary, When we were cleaning out the garage the other day, I found my old pair of roller blades. They're a little small on me now, but I forgot how much fun it is to skate. Mom said I can always get a new pair that's bigger if I want. Maybe-

Day 128

September 13, 2009

Dear Diary, Since today is Grandparent's Day, we're taking Grandma and Grandpa out to dinner. I have no idea where we're going yet, but hopefully something good. My dad is working this morning, so we'll go after he gets home. Mom wants Tanner and I to help her clean out the garage until then. Do I have to?

Day 127

September 8, 2009

Dear Diary, We were playing outside last night after dinner. Tanner and I were kicking the soccer ball around. I should have used the bug spray, those little, tiny bugs kept biting me. We had fun though. A new family moved in across the street, but we still haven't met them yet. Supposedly, they have a daughter close to my age. Hopefully we'll get to meet them soon-

Day 126

September 1, 2009

Dear Diary, My mom is annoyed that I forgot my agenda book at school. It's this book that has all my homework assignments, and notes from my teacher. I didn't mean to forget it. I just had so much stuff to put it my backpack, that I didn't even notice it wasn't in there. Is missing it one day so bad?

Day 125

August 27, 2009

Dear Diary, I finally figured it out! I went to the Apple website and learned how to unlock my Ipod. And then, I went and yelled at Tanner again for messing with my stuff. At least if he does it again I know how to fix it.

Day 124

August 23, 2009

Dear Diary, Brothers can be so cruel sometimes. Tanner thought it would be funny to "lock" my Ipod, which means you can't shut it off or change songs, or anything. I didn't even know you could lock it by pressing some button. Now he won't show me how to unlock it. He says I can figure it out. Help!

Day 123

August 16, 2009

Dear Diary, They're home, and they brought me a present too. It's this really pretty silver bracelet from St. Tropez. I love it! Ahhhh! Oaklee is nipping at my feet. I think she wants to go out. See you later-

Day 122

August 13, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm so happy! My parents will be home in 2 more days! It feels like they've been gone forever. I love my grandparents, but they're not Mom and Dad. We're going to Aunt Lisa's for dinner tonight. My cousin Gantt wants to teach me how to play golf too. He's taking lessons.

Day 121

August 8, 2009

Dear Diary, Everyday after soccer all I want to do is jump in the pool. It feels so good! Oaklee always wants to jump in when I go swimming, but we try to not let her. Swimming in the pool makes her all stinky and her fur gets nasty. Well, time for dinner. Grandma and Grandpa sure do eat early, it's not even 5:00-

Day 120

August 4, 2009

Dear Diary, Mom and Dad left a couple days ago for their big cruise. I'm so jealous! I would love to go to the Mediterranean. But no, I'm stuck here with Tanner and my grandparents.

Day 119

July 29, 2009

Dear Diary, I think I broke my toe! Okay, if I didn't break it, then it's hurt very badly, and it's not even from soccer. I was walking around my mom's bed and accidentally kicked my foot right into the bedpost. It hurt so bad I thought I was going to pass out! And now that its been a few hours, my toe is turning purple and looks all swollen and gross. I play soccer and don't get hurt, and then hurt my toe at home? Unbelievable.

Day 118

July 26, 2009

Dear Diary, Awwwwww! I scuffed up my brand new green cleats at practice today. I know I shouldn't wear them to practice, but I wanted my friends to see them. From now on I'm only wearing them to games. They're still really tight looking! I better go take a shower. We're going out for dinner tonight-

Day 117

July 15, 2009

Dear Diary, My parents are going on vacation without us! And it's not just any vacation, they're going to Europe! I know it's their wedding anniversary, but can't we go too? I wish! They leave in August and will be gone for two weeks. My grandparents are going to stay with Tanner and me while they're gone. I think I would rather stay with Aunt Lisa, she's more fun.

Day 116

July 13, 2009

Dear Diary, My brother Tanner has another new knock knock joke he's telling-

Knock, knock.

Who's there?

Woo.

Woo, who?

Don't get so excited, it's just a joke.

I guess it's funnier than some of the other ones, but enough already Tanner!

Day 115

July 8, 2009

Dear Diary, Soccer camp has been awesome this week! We're using an indoor gym. We've been doing a lot of skill training. Some of it I've learned before, but some of it is new for me. We're using kick back boards and learning more about defense. I didn't know Tina was going to this camp too, so we've been hanging out together a lot. She's on my team during the season, and is really nice.

Day 114

July 2, 2009

Dear Diary, I went to the dentist for my monthly appointment. You know, the one I love, where they tighten my braces. Uggh! I usually have these plain gray rubber bands around each bracket on my teeth. But this time I got to pick out different colors. I picked pink and green for every other bracket. I think it looks great! My brother Tanner says I look like I used a Crayola marker to color my braces. Tanner's just jealous-

Day 113

June 28, 2009

Dear Diary, My cousin Matthew was at a sport camp this week, and he ended up going to the hospital from heat exhaustion and being dehydrated. The doctor said Matthew was drinking plenty of water, but sweating it all out. Now my mom is all over my case telling me to make sure I drink plenty of fluids when I'm outside. I guess I understand her worrying.

Day 112

June 23, 2009

Dear Diary, Mom surprised me today with a new pair of soccer cleats. They're not just any cleats, they're iridescent green! At first I thought she was crazy, but then I tried them on, and they're perfect! They match the same shade of green that's on our black uniforms. My mom can be cool sometimes-

Day 111

June 14, 2009

Dear Diary, He got it! I don't really understand what Dad's new job really is, but he got it. He's going to be some kind of undercover detective, and he's really excited. We just found out, and we're going to go out to dinner to celebrate. I think I'm going to take a shower first since I'm all sweaty from running around with Oaklee.

Day 110

June 12, 2009

Dear Diary, My dad is really nervous. He has a big interview today for some new position at the sheriff's office. I've never seen him like this before. I know how bad he wants the job, I just hope he gets it. My dad works so hard, and I'm so proud of him. He deserves it!

Day 109

June 4, 2009

Dear Diary, My mouth is so sore. I must have slept funny or something because my braces cut the inside of my cheek on one side, and it really hurts. I'll be so glad when I'm done with these things! And my next dentist appointment is tomorrow. Lucky me-

Day 108

June 1, 2009

Dear Diary, Tanner is such a weasel! He was supposed to help clean up the dishes with me after dinner, and he bailed! He said he had to go because his friends were waiting for him to go somewhere. So you know who got stuck doing all the dishes. It's so not fair. I already told my dad that Tanner's doing them all by himself tomorrow night even if I'm not going anywhere-

Day 107

May 26, 2009

Dear Diary, I wish I could say we won the tournament, and we're the new champs, but we didn't. It wasn't even close! They really were the better team, and beat us 6 to 1. I guess there's always next time, right? I'm a little sad, but I really think we played our best.

Day 106

May 22, 2009

Dear Diary, We beat the Sidewinders! It was so close too! We ended in a tie, but since the winner was going on to the tournament, we had to have a sudden death penalty shoot-out. My friend Tina kicked the winning goal. I still can't believe we're going to the tournament. It starts tomorrow and finishes Monday. Can't wait!

Day 105

May 15, 2009

Dear Diary, We won the first game! Now all we have to do is beat the Sidewinders tomorrow. I'm so excited to play them! They were the league champions last year, so they're really good. Wish me luck!

Day 104

May 12, 2009

Dear Diary, This is the last week of spring soccer. If we finish out the season with 2 more wins, then we get to go to the tournament. I hope we can do it, but the last 2 teams we play are pretty good. Tonight's the first game, so I better go get my gear ready-

Day 103

May 7, 2009

Dear Diary, Gantt's party was so much fun! I'm really not into dancing, but I actually had fun dancing. My aunt had even hired these professional dancers to put on a show, and then they were teaching the kids some moves. My Aunt Lisa always goes all out for birthdays! My party is this coming weekend!

Day 102

May 3, 2009

Dear Diary, We're going to my cousin's birthday party in a little while. He's turning 6. And Gantt, that's his name, is having a dance party. I was kind of surprised at first, but he really likes music and, of course, dancing. I hope he likes the Star Wars set we picked out for him. Time to go get ready!

Day 101

April 29, 2009

Dear Diary, Wanna know the best part of May? My birthday! May 11th is my birthday. We're going to celebrate it the weekend before since it's on a Monday. Mom said I can't invite my whole class, only 15 people. We have family coming too. I can't wait!

Day 100

April 20, 2009

Dear Diary, It's raining again! Normally I don't care. The only time it matters to me is when we have to cancel a game or practice. Like tonight, we were supposed to have a short practice and then a game against another league team. That really stinks! Hopefully we can make up the game later in the week-

Day 99

April 17, 2009

Dear Diary, When I came home from school today I knew something looked different about Mom. It took me a few minutes to realize that she was wearing glasses. She said she was having a hard time reading, so she went to get a prescription. They actually look really cool on her, you go Mom!

Day 98

April 10, 2009

Dear Diary, We're grilling hamburgers tonight when my dad gets home from work. You know how much I love hamburgers! Mom said I can invite Rebecca over too if I want. I guess I better call her before it gets too late.

Day 97

April 5, 2009

Dear Diary, It was fun being at my grandparents' house for a couple days. I thought Tanner was coming too, but I guess he didn't want to. Grandma bought a basketball backboard for their pool. You can even dunk on it if you can get high enough out of the pool! It was fun, but I wish Tanner had gone too, so we could have played one on one. Next time.

Day 96

April 1, 2009

Dear Diary, Spring break this week! So far I've just been kind of hanging out with my friends. Friday and Saturday night I'm spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's. They have a pool with a heater, so we can swim already! Yipee! Only thing is that I always miss Oaklee when I spend the night away from home. I wish I could bring her too-

Day 95

March 28, 2009

Dear Diary, Well, my diary was not in Tanner's room. I almost wish it was in there because at least I would know for sure where it was instead of wondering. It'll probably turn up in my room somewhere. Anyways, my new diary is way cooler. It's brown with pink polka dots. Love it!

Day 94

March 25, 2009

Dear Diary, I had to get a new diary. That's not so bad. The bad part is that I have no idea where my other diary is! I bet my nosey brother took it. I hope not. It's not like I have any really big secrets or anything, but diaries are private! I'm going to search Tanner's room before he gets home.

Day 93

March 16, 2009

Dear Diary, My Aunt and cousin came over tonight after dinner, and all they wanted to do was sit around and talk. Boring! My cousin is home from college for spring break, and she was all talking about her classes and school stuff. She didn't even ask me how soccer is going. Rude!

Day 92

March 11, 2009

Dear Diary, My brother actually had a funny knock knock joke today...

Knock, knock.

Who's there?

 Woo.

Woo, who?

Don't get so excited, it's just a joke.

Just don't tell Tanner I said it was funny, or he'll tell even more jokes!

Day 91

March 5, 2009

Dear Diary, Our writing assignment in school today was about "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I have no idea! I mean I love soccer, and I hope to keep playing competitively all the way through college. But after that? I just don't know, and that's okay-

Day 90

March 2, 2009

Dear Diary, What a hectic day we had! My dad had to work an extra shift for training or something. Then Tanner and I both had soccer games. Our poor mom had to get dinner and everbody's gear ready. Thankfully it doesn't get like that very often-

Day 89

February 26, 2009

Dear Diary, Tanner says we don't need a "Dog Whisperer" for Oaklee. He says he wants to train her himself to not bark so much. That's a great idea, but what does Tanner know about training dogs? Nothing as far as I know. He went to get a book from the library, so we'll see how that goes.

Day 88

February 20, 2009

Dear Diary, Oaklee is back to barking all the time again. I keep telling my mom that we need to call that lady who is the "Dog Whisperer". Anything to get Oaklee to not bark so much. She has a cute bark, it's not that it sounds bad or anything. But when she barks constantly it gets a little annoying!

Day 87

February 15, 2009

Dear Diary, I told my parents that I think we should help out with the victims of that tornado in Oklahoma. I already emptied my piggy bank for one of the charities collecting donations. Somehow it doesn't seem like enough though. I was thinking of making some cards to send.

Day 86

February 13, 2009

Dear Diary, I saw on the news today that there were some really bad storms in Oklahoma. There was a tornado that damaged a lot of homes and some people even lost their lives. I can't imagine how scarey a tornado must be. I know the hurricanes we went through have been scarey enough for me, but at least we can get ready for a hurricane. You usually know it's coming a few days before it gets here. A tornado can come out of nowhere in a storm.

Day 85

February 9, 2009

Dear Diary, Today was supposed to be our first day of spring soccer practice. Well, so much for that. It was pouring rain all day, and now the field is soaked. No practice. It doesn't happen very often thank goodness, but it still stinks. Well, at least I'm already caught up on my homework. I think I'll ask my mom if I can use the computer.

Day 84

February 3, 2009

Dear Diary, It's my least favorite day of the month again. Time to go back in to get my braces tightened. Boo! I heard my orthodontist telling my mom that he thought I'd have them on for another year and a half or two. That seems like a long time to me. I guess if it straightens out my teeth it'll be worth it though. Hopefully it will go by fast!

Day 83

January 29, 2009

Dear Diary, Coach made us run laps today at practice because so many poeople were late. I'm really tired now. Practice and games 3 times a week is fun but exhausting sometimes. Soccer will be over before I know it though, only another month I think. Then there's always spring soccer!

Day 82

January 20, 2009

Dear Diary, It's too bad that my mom's friends were only visiting and don't live here. The girl close to my age is Lara. She's so sweet, and even though she doesn't love soccer like I do, we did have fun playing. Hopefully they'll come back again to visit someday.

Day 81

January 16, 2009

Dear Diary, One of mom's old friends from highschool is in town this weekend with her family and we're all having a bbq at the park tomorrow. I've never met them before, but my mom said they have a daughter who is only a year or two older than me. I hope she's nice. Maybe she even likes soccer, I'll have to bring my ball.

Day 80

January 9, 2009

Dear Diary, I'm dreading going to the orthodontist this afternoon. Yes, it's time to get my braces tightened again. Yuck! Maybe Mom will forget...no, she never forgets. And I'd just have to go get them done another day anyway. Hopefully we're having something soft for dinner.

Day 79

January 4, 2009

Dear Diary, My poor dad. Today was supposed to be his day off and he got called out in the middle of the night for some big case. So while we were all sleeping he was out working. That must stink. Anyways, now he's tring to take a nap, so Mom said Tanner and I have to keep the noise down so we don't wake him up. Maybe when he wakes up we can all go do something...

Day 78

January 1, 2009

Dear Diary, I think I saw one of my teachers speedwalking through our neighborhood today. I didn't get to say hi because we were driving by in the other direction, but I swear it was her. That's kind of funny. I don't usually think of my teachers as being anywhere but school. I guess they probably have a life and a family too!

Day 77

December 31, 2008

Dear Diary, Happy New Year!!! We're celebrating tonight with fireworks Dad and my uncles went out and bought. And my mom said we're having "finger foods", whatever that means. Hopefully something good. I'm having such an awesome time with my cousins here. I'll be sad when they have to leave in a few more days.

Day 76

December 24, 2008

Dear Diary, My cousin Matthew noticed my braces immediately. He thought they were really cool looking, and then started asking his mom when he could get braces. So now all the family is here, and we're just hanging out all the time. I'm trying to teach the little ones how to play soccer, and they have no clue, but at least they're having fun!

Day 75

December 21, 2008

Dear Diary, No school for like 2 whole weeks! It's going to be awesome! We have aunts and uncles and cousins all driving and flying in for vacation. I think a bunch of people will be crashing at our house. I don't mind because us kids always end up sleeping in our sleeping bags somewhere. I miss my cousins when I haven't seen them in a while. I wonder if they'll notice my braces...

Day 74

December 15, 2008

Dear Diary, Yesterday we went to a picnic at the park with some friends of ours. It was fun, and someone had brought a soccer ball, so we played kids vs. adults. The adults lost! It's not like it was a serious game or anything, but it's still nice to brag that we won!

Day 73

December 10, 2008

Dear Diary, Dad and I tried to take Oaklee for a walk tonight after dinner. I guess I didn't realize how cold it was. By the time we were around the block, we were already freezing. So much for a long walk. We ended up running the rest of the way home, teeth chattering all the way! Oaklee didn't seem to mind though, especially the running-

Day 72

December 2, 2008

Dear Diary, How many different stores can you go to looking for holiday lights? I swear we went to at least five different stores after school today. All the lights look the same anyway! After school I just want to come home and relax before I have to do homework. Now it's already almost dinner time. Ugh!

Day 71

November 17, 2008

Dear Diary, Want to hear something funny? Last night Mom and I were in the car getting ready to pull out of the garage to go to the grocery store. Well, it was really dark outside, and I guess she didn't see my dad's black car parked right behind us. All of a sudden I felt this bump, and I was like "what one Earth?!?!?!" Mom had bumped right into his car! It didn't do any damage or anything, but it was kind of funny to hear Mom tell my dad about it. Then Dad started lecturing her about driving safely and all that. Wow!

Day 70

November 13, 2008

Dear Diary, No callouts for Dad, so we made it out to dinner last night. I try to eat healthy most of the time, but hamburgers and french fries rule! I eat my french fries with mayonaise. I know it sounds odd, but it's really yummy. My brother Tanner always picks on me for it, but he has never even tried it. He just doesn't know what he's missing.

Day 69

November 12, 2008

Dear Diary, Okay, we ended up not going out to dinner Friday night because my dad got called out. He's a detective for the sheriff's office, and every now and then he gets called out when something happens. Of course , it had to be on the night we were supposed to go out to eat! We were so busy with soccer and everything else all weekend that we're going to try again tonight. Hopefully no call outs for Dad!

Day 68

November 7, 2008

Dear Diary, Yeah, it's Friday! Dad said we could go out for dinner tonight. I hope we go to that burger place down the street. They have the best french fries. Anything, as long as it's not Italian food, I don't care. I think Oaklee has to go outside, she's barking at the door again-

Day 67

November 5, 2008

Dear Diary, Oaklee is such a sweetie girl, but she barks too much. We've tried everything to tecah her to not bark. She barks when the doorbell rings, when people are walking across the street. It can be annoying sometimes. Mom says maybe we need to call one of those dog trainers that come to your house and help when your pet has behavior problems. You know, like a dog whisperer. We may have to.

Day 66

November 2, 2008

Dear Diary, Braces sometimes are a pain. I brought home all this candy from trick-or-treating. Mom had me dump it out on the table and then went through it piece by piece, throwing away all the gooey, sticky candy I can't eat. Even the caramels, which I love! Oh well, what can you do? At least I had fun and there's some candy left in my pillow case I'm actually allowed to eat.

Day 65

October 29, 2008

Dear Diary, You know, Halloween is in two days and I still don't have a costume! I could always go as a soccer player again, but that's kind of boring since I already have a uniform I wear to my games. I was thinking about being a cheerleader. I've never been that before. I better ask Mom if we can go shopping.

Day 64

October 27, 2008

Dear Diary, Tonight my grandparents are coming to my soccer game to watch me play. They usually like to come to a few games each season. Grandma always worries that I'll get nervous when they watch. I tell her no way, it makes me want to try even harder. Tanner's team is playing on the field right next to mine. Mom said they'll just sit in the middle between both fields to watch both games at the same time. Then after the game we're all going to go out to dinner.

Day 63

October 22, 2008

Dear Diary, I want someone to come outside and play soccer with me. It gets boring after a while doing it by yourself. All you can really do is kick goals and dribble. Tanner's over at his friend's house and Mom's busy cooking dinner. Looks like it's just me. Maybe I'll take Oaklee outside too and get her to chase me around while I dribble the soccer ball.

Day 62

October 19, 2008

Dear Diary, Tanner is hogging the computer and won't let me have a turn. Mom says if she has to work it out then she'll just turn the computer off. I hope he's almost done, I need to do my homework. I wish I had my own computer in my own room. Mom and dad said no, we have to share the one in the family room. I'm going to go see if he's done yet.

Day 61

October 15, 2008

Dear Diary, Rebecca came over for dinner tonight. We had bbq ribs. Yummy! After dinner we went for a walk around the neighborhood with Oaklee. Oaklee gets all excited as soon as she sees me take her leashe out. It's so cute!

Day 60

October 13, 2008

Dear Diary, Okay, I love school and all, but I'm confused about why we had school today. If Columbus Day is a holiday and the banks and post offices are closed, why was there still school? Whatever. Mom said maybe we are making up days we lost because of school being cancelled for the hurricane. I guess that would make sense.

Day 59

October 8, 2008

Dear Diary, Already my teeth feel better today. What a relief! Tanner says I'm just being a baby, but he doesn't understand. He has never had to wear braces. He thinks I just like the attention from saying my braces hurt my teeth. Whatever Tanner!

Day 58

October 7, 2008

Dear Diary, I had to go to the orthodontist again today. Every month I have to go and get my braces tightened. It kills! Afterwards my teeth hurt so bad that I want to cry. Then after a couple days it's not so bad. Mom said she would make me soup for dinner so my teeth won't be so bad.

Day 57

October 3, 2008

Dear Diary, It's my dad's birthday. Mom forgot this morning to wish him happy birthday! I don't know how she forgot, but she did. Tanner and I decided to make Dad a cake all by ourselves. Mom just watched, but didn't say anything. I think it turned out pretty good, but maybe too much frosting. We used two whole tubs of frosting! I hope he likes it when he gets home from work.

Day 56

October 1, 2008

Dear Diary, Soccer starts next week, so Tanner and I have been practicing in our yard in the afternoons. Oaklee loves to come out too and she chases around whoever is kicking the ball, barking at them. She's such a funny dog! I'm really really excited for soccer to start though, it feels like forever since we had our instructional camp. I'm moving up to the next level, U11/U12. That should be tougher, but I'm pretty competitive.

Day 55

September 28, 2008

Dear Diary, Dad said we could go to the park today for a bbq. My friend Rebecca is coming with us too. And since dogs are allowed at this park, Oaklee can come. I'll have to bring a ball or something for her to fetch. I think we're grilling chicken. The only thing I won't be able to eat is the corn on the cobb. I'll have to cut my corn off the cobb because of my braces. Braces can sometimes be a pain.

Day 54

September 25, 2008

Dear Diary, Tanner is pestering me with Knock-knock jokes. He got this book full of them from the library. And he can never just read it by himself, he has to have someone do the joke with him. Well, that leaves me, since Dad is outside doing who knows what in the yard. Some of the jokes are cute, but some of them are pretty dumb I think.

Day 53

September 21, 2008

Dear Diary, Yesterday wasn't a lot of fun doing chores, but I did make some extra money. Mom promised she'd take me to the mall today so I can look around. One of the stores I like has some new athletic shorts with stripes on the sides. They might be nice to wear for soccer practices. Mom doesn't think I need anymore soccer shorts, but I do!

Day 52

September 20, 2008

Dear Diary, Dad and Tanner are going to watch a baseball game this afternoon. That means it's just Mom and me. I just can't get into baseball, it moves to slow for me. I think us girls are just going to hang out at home. Maybe I can earn some extra allowance money if I do extra chores today. Sometimes if I help wash the car or something my parents let me earn extra.

Day 51

September 18, 2008

Dear Diary, Soccer will be starting in a few more weeks. We don't start with the actual games at first. In the beginning, there are instructional clinics for all the kids to practice skills. It's kind of fun getting to be with the other kids who aren't necessarily on my team. I wonder which team I'll be on this year anyway. We should find out pretty soon.

Day 50

September 14, 2008

Dear Diary, I know I was a little anxious about what all the other kids would say about my braces, but so far its been good. Some kids even said they wish they could get braces too. I have to put wax on the side brackets every night before bed. If I forget, I sometimes wake up with sores on the inside of my cheek from the braces rubbing on them while I sleep. Ouch!

Day 49

September 11, 2008

Dear Diary, Our art teacher has us working on a memorial project for September 11th. It's this beaded mural of the twin towers and the New York skyline. I think it's really neat that we can do something positive to remember and pay respect to the victims from that day. I don't remember it myself since it happened in 2001, but we learn about it in school.

Day 48

September 8, 2008

Dear Diary, Things are slowly but surely getting back to normal around Baton Rouge. We only missed one day of school that we'll have to make up sometime this year. People are cleaning up all the debris in their yards. Dad has already started repairing the front corner of our house. Even though it was scarey to listen to the storm as it passed, I'm thankful it wasn't worse.

Day 47

September 2, 2008

Dear Diary, The good news is we're all okay. The front corner of our house has some damage, but Dad says it's not too bad. We were lucky. Some of our neighbors were not as lucky. There is a huge oak tree that fell onto someone's house down the street. The family is okay, but their house isn't. We still don't have any power, but hopefully that will come back on soon. All our company is still here too, not sure when they'll be able to go home. School has been cancelled for today, but they're hoping to be ready to open again tomorrow.

Day 46

September 1, 2008

Dear Diary, Our house is packed with family and a few friends who evacuated from New Orleans. Hurricane Gustav should be making landfall sometime later this morning. We're about an hour away from the coast. We've all been glued to the tv watching for weather updates. Also, we've been staring out the window, watching the trees bend and whip around and the rain looks like it's falling sideways. The lights have been flickering, but so far we haven't lost power yet. It's a weird feeling because it's fascinating that a storm can be so powerful, but also a little scarey too. I just hope everyone stays safe.

Day 45

August 31, 2008

Dear Diary, I think Rebecca and I have worked everything out. It was a misunderstanding. I swear, some girls just try to start problems between friends sometimes. They must be bored or something. Anyways, we're going to walk to school together from now on.

Day 44

August 28, 2008

Dear Diary, Well, I thought we were going to have a fun weekend, but I guess not. The news is saying that Hurricane Gustav is probably heading our way. We don't live right on the coast, but Baton Rouge is not far inland. If it really is a category 3 hurricane, then we may have bad weather. So now my parents say we have to spend the weekend getting ready. That means working in the yard to get rid of tree limbs and moving patio furniture. Plus, we have to fill our hurricane kit with food, batteries and everything else.

Day 43

August 26, 2008

Dear Diary, School was starting off just fine until Rebecca found me after school today. She wanted to know if I really told kids in one of my classes that I didn't want to be her friend anymore. Why would she think I would say that? We've been friends forever! And why do people start such mean rumors anyway?

Day 42

August 23, 2008

Dear Diary, Last weekend before school starts. I'm actually getting more excited the closer it gets. Fall soccer will be starting soon. I think I might need some new cleats before then. My last pair are all worn out and have a hole in the top. Fall soccer is so much more fun than summer since it's not as hot outside.

Day 41

August 19, 2008

Dear Diary, School starts already? Next Monday is our first day back. I'm a little nervous about what kids are going to say about my new braces. I've gotten used to them now. I just can't eat sticky foods like cotton candy or hard food like popcorn. Anyways, I just don't want to be teased about wearing them. It's not like I had a choice or anything.

Day 40

August 17, 2008

Dear Diary, My family has been pretty much loafing around this weekend watching the Olympics on tv. I'm not all that interested in the ping-pong or badminton events. I do love watching the soccer and track and field. Tomorrow night is the women's semifinals for soccer. The USA will be playing against Japan. Hopefully I can stay up late enough to watch it!

Day 39

August 13, 2008

Dear Diary, Poor Oaklee. She came home from the groomer's today and I almost didn't recognize her. The lady shaved her hair way too short. And then she put this ridiculous looking bow around her collar. I like when Oaklee's hair is a little longer and soft and fluffy. Now she looks like a rat. At least it will grow back. Eventually.

Day 38

August 9, 2008

Dear Diary, You know sometimes my parents cook dinners that I just don't like. I feel bad telling them that something tastes "gross", but sometimes that's how I really feel. Tonight my mom was all beside herself when she saw me pushing food around my plate and not eating much. I really don't like lasagne. Why does there have to be so much tomato sauce in it? Dad says spaghetti sauce is just like ketchup, but I don't think so.

Day 37

August 6, 2008

Dear Diary, Okay, now that I have my new school clothes and all my school supplies I'm starting to feel ready to go back to school. I'm a little nervous about how hard the homework will be though. Hopefully it won't be too much. The kids in the grades ahead of you always make it out to be worse than it really is.

Day 36

August 2, 2008

Dear Diary, Mom and I went shopping for school clothes this morning. When we were at the mall we ran into a girl I know from school named Heidi. We talked about how summer was going and all that. She said something about me looked different, but she couldn't tell what it was. So then I smiled really big to show her my braces. Then she realized what it was!

Day 35

July 27, 2008

Dear Diary, Sometimes I wish I was older. I really really want to see the Batman movie that just came out. Mom and Dad said no way, that I'm not old enough and blah blah blah. They wouldn't even let Tanner see it, and he's three years older than me.

Day 34

July 26, 2008

Dear Diary, Finally my teeth are not hurting so much. I can actually eat food now. My brother Tanner is jealous and says he wants braces now too. I told him I wish he could have mine. I guess when school starts in a few weeks everyone will see that I got braces. I hope no one will tease me about them. It's not like I had a choice or something.

Day 33

July 24, 2008

Dear Diary, Looking at myself in the mirror with my new braces isn't so bad. What's bad is how my teeth hurt. They ache and feel like they're mushy if that makes any sense. Mom had to give me some tylenol to help. The dentist said they should only hurt for a few days and after that I should feel fine. I hope so, even eating yogurt hurts right now.

Day 32

July 19, 2008

Dear Diary, My mom can be really sweet sometimes. She knows I'm a little worried about getting braces on Wednesday. So this weekend she went shopping so I could eat all my favorite things I won't be able to eat with braces on. Things like corn on the cobb, cotton candy, and popcorn. Not all the healthiest foods, but I'll miss them.

Day 31

July 16, 2008

Dear Diary, Mom just made the appointment. Next Wednesday is the big day for me to get my braces. They said my teeth might be sore for a few days, so have plenty of soft food ready. I guess that's okay since I like yogurt.

Day 30

July 14, 2008

Dear Diary, I just got home from the dentist, and they said I have to get braces. I used to think it was kind of cool when I saw friends of mine getting them. But I don't want them! Then other kids might make fun of me. How long will I have to wear them? And why did I have to suck my thumb when I was little and make my teeth crooked?

Day 29

July 10, 2008

Dear Diary, We went to the Y to find out about swimming. There's a class I can join for summer that's three days a week. That still gives me time for soccer. Then I can join the competitive swim team if I make tryouts. Once school starts I can keep swimming, or I can drop it if it's too much for me to do.

Day 28

July 9, 2008

Dear Diary, I've been playing soccer for a long time now. And I love it! But now I want to try swimming too. I want to do both! Mom says as long as it's not too much I can do them both. In the summer it's no problem. But once school starts I'll have homework and projects too. My friend Rebecca thinks she wants to try swimming too. Mom's going to take me over to the Y and see what we can find out.

Day 27

July 5, 2008

Dear Diary, Our picnic yesterday was a lot of fun! We grilled hotdogs and had potato salad. But I didn't want to eat until after the swimming. We were playing sharks and minnows in the pool. It always ended up being boys against girls. But we had a good time, and got to stay up pretty late. That's always fun!

Day 26

July 3, 2008

Dear Diary, I can't believe that tomorrow is already the 4th of July! We're having a neighborhood picnic. Which usually means the kids go swimming, while the parents sit around and talk. It's always a lot of fun, and it's something we do pretty much every 4th of July. Hopefully this year the fireworks won't scare Oaklee. Last year, she was hiding under my bed all night.

Day 25

June 30, 2008

Dear Diary, Poor Oaklee. Ever since soccer camp started I feel like I haven't had as much time to play with her, or take her for walks. She gets so excited to go for walks. As soon as she hears me get out the leash, she starts jumping up and down. So tonight, after dinner, I took her for a walk around the neighborhood with my mom, even though I was exhausted. Making Oaklee happy was worth it!

Day 24

June 29, 2008

Dear Diary, Finally, Rebecca and I got to hang out together this weekend. We went to the movies with her dad to see "Wall-E". It was okay, but I had fun seeing my friend. I know it's hard when there's soccer camp to see my friends as much. Only a couple more weeks and we'll be done. This summer is really going fast. Before I know it, school will be starting again.

Day 23

June 25, 2008

Dear Diary, Could it be any hotter outside? Soccer camp is outside most of the day. I didn't know you could sweat this much. At least the coaches are good about making sure we drink plenty of water and take breaks. Last year I remember it was so hot, a girl passed out on the field. That was kind of scarey.

Day 22

June 24, 2008

Dear Diary, I feel kind of bad that I haven't seen Rebecca much the last couple of weeks. Soccer camp is 5 days a week. And by the time that gets over for the day, we eat dinner. And I'm exhausted and ready for bed! Hopefully this weekend we can get together and do something. I know it's hard for her to understand. She doesn't play any sports and doesn't go to any camps in the summer.

Day 21

June 22, 2008

Dear Diary, Last week my brother Tanner and I started soccer camp. By the end of the day, we're both exhausted and I feel like a Stinkerbell myself! It really is a lot of fun though. We do a lot of skill drills. Then once a day we team up and practice what we've learned in a game. By the end of camp in a few more weeks, coach says we should all be better players.

Day 20

June 18, 2008

Dear Diary, My brother's been finding new jokes again. This one is actually pretty funny. What do you call a fairy who doesn't take a bath? A Stinkerbell! Get it? I had to write that down before I forgot it. Well, I'm off to take Oaklee for a walk with my mom. It's so hot out during the day, we had to wait until after dinner.

Day 19

June 15, 2008

Dear Diary, It worked! My dad figured out the four clues we left for him at different places. The funny part was that to get the next clue, he had to do a challenge. One challenge was to say the alphabet backwards! We all laughed and had a great time at the fondue restaurant we went to for dinner.

Day 18

June 11, 2008

Dear Diary, Father's Day is coming up this weekend. My mom, Tanner and I are planning a really cool scavenger hunt. Dad will have to go all around town finding clues that will lead him to the restaurant we picked out for dinner. It should be a lot of fun. Dad is usually a good sport about going on adventures.

Day 17

June 6, 2008

Dear Diary, Well, next week is finally our last week of school! We're having a Summer Festival at school next Thursday. All the classes run booths with games and crafts. It's kind of like a fair. The parents do most of the work though, and the students get to go around all day having fun. They have music and lots of yummy food. I wish the festival would hurry up and get here!

Day 16

June 3, 2008

Dear Diary, Sometimes I hate when I come home from school and there are already chores waiting for me. Like today, I came home and my mom tells me that we're going to do yardwork this afternoon. I don't mind cleaning my room and bathroom. Even doing the dishes isn't so bad. But I cannot stand doing yardwork. It's just so boring! Tanner has to help too, so at least we can keep each other company.

Day 15

May 30, 2008

Dear Diary, Well, my ankle is feeling a little better. There's a small bruise, but nothing serious. I've been resting it a lot. That means sitting around hanging out with my dog Oaklee. I brush her and rub her tummy, which she loves. And she's getting pretty good at playing fetch. I think that's because she likes the treats I give her if she brings back the ball!

Day 14

May 27, 2008

Dear Diary, We did have a lot of fun at the parent/child soccer game yesterday. I didn't get to play as much as I usually do though. Halfway through the game I turned my ankle. It's not broken or anything. My coach says it's probably just a small sprain. I hope so, because soccer camp starts in 3 weeks! My parents said to try to rest my ankle as much as I can. That's so hard to do because I'm so active, but I'll try.

Day 13

May 26, 2008

Dear Diary, Our soccer team is having a parents against kids game since there's no school today. It should be a lot of fun! We do this every year, and afterwards we have a big cookout. I can't wait for the watermelon. Last year the adults won by 1 goal. Hopefully we can win this year!

Day 12

May 22, 2008

Dear Diary, I was all ready to go home and play after school today. But when my dad picked me up, he told me we were going shopping for a new dishwasher. Not my idea of fun at all. Boring is more like it! This morning when we woke up and went into the kitchen, the floor was covered with water. I understand we need a dishwasher, but I don't want to shop for one. That's not real shopping.

Day 11

May 20, 2008

Dear Diary, My parents have decided that yes I can do soccer camp for a few weeks this summer! They said I have to help with chores as part of the deal, but that's okay, anything is worth it! As long as I don't have to clean Tanner's room, it's a disaster! But I could wash the dog and help clean the kitchen, stuff like that.

Day 10

May 17, 2008

Dear Diary, Brothers can be such pests sometimes. Tanner is always trying to be funny. He likes to tell Knock Knock jokes. Like "knock knock" and I say "Who's there?" And he says "knock knock?" and I say "who's there?" and he says "knock knock" AGAIN. After the last time I say "who's there?" he says "orange". So I say "orange who?" And he laughs, "Orange you glad I didn't say knock knock?" Ha Ha Tanner.

Day 9

May 15, 2008

Dear Diary, Did you know that milk smells disgusting? I guess I forgot about the glass of milk I took into my room the other day. I think maybe Oaklee knocked it over and it must have spilled under my bed. My mom kept walking up and down the hallway sniffing in the air. When I went into my room afterschool today it was the yuckiest smell I ever smelled. Mom says no more drinks allowed in our bedrooms.

Day 8

May 12, 2008

Dear Diary, I sure had fun this weekend. I spent the night at Rebecca's house and we played Marco Polo in her pool. Then her mom ordered pizza for us for dinner. Yummy! Pizza is my favorite. Then yesterday I came home and it was Mother's day. We went to my Grandma's house and had lunch with her. I love my Grandma so much!

Day 7

May 10, 2008

Dear Diary, Today is Saturday and I get to spend the night at my friend Rebecca's house! We are going to go swimming in her pool and play outside all day. I can't wait! I hope Tanner takes good care of Oaklee for me while I'm gone. Maybe I'll feed him extra before I leave just in case Tanner forgets. I better go pack my bag for Rebecca's house!

Day 6

May 8, 2008

Dear Diary, I know I haven't written in so long, but soccer keeps me pretty busy. We just finished spring soccer. Our team came in second place in the league! That's better than last year when we didn't even make the playoffs. I hope my parents will let me do soccer camp this summer! Dad said they would have to talk about it.

Day 5

April 4, 2008

Dear Diary, I started a new book series. (I think these are my favorite books now.) In the back, they have paper doll punchouts. I think I will give them to my neighbor who has been collecting them for years.

Day 4

April 1, 2008

Dear Diary, Nothing happened today except when I was taking Oaklee out for a walk, it started pouring rain. We ran for home, but when we got there, we were soaked! My mom put both of us in her warm shower…ahhhhh!

Day 3

March 29, 2008

Dear Diary, my dog, Oaklee, is sooo cute! I dressed her up in my old doll clothes. They fit pretty well, but she could never wear the pants because her tail won’t fit! Aren’t I lucky to have a dog that lets me dress her up? You should look at her picture…isn’t she cute?!!

Day 2

March 26, 2008

Dear Diary, I didn’t score the first goal, but I did score the winning goal, which to me was even better! My entire team went out for ice cream!

Day 1

March 23, 2008

Dear Diary, Today I bought new soccer cleats. They are red and white. I practiced running and shooting with them on in my backyard. I just know I am going to score the first goal tomorrow.
