Charity's Diary
Day 161
March 19, 2010
Dear Diary, I have a sore throat. I like totally hate when it hurts everytime you swallow, but you can't stop yourself from swallowing. It's so annoying! My mom just made me some decaf hot green tea, which is not something I usually like drink. She said it will help my throat feel better. After that, I'm like chillin on the couch in my cozy blanket.
Day 160
March 15, 2010
Dear Diary, Holy cow, is my dad upset! He just found out that our model car got recalled and we have to turn it in for repairs. If they're like going to fix it, then I don't see what the big deal is. My dad like says that it's just a big pain. Whatever Dad-
Day 159
March 9, 2010
Dear Diary, Surfing was totally cool Saturday, but I think I need to like wax my board again. I biffed a couple times and scraped up my chin pretty good at the shoreline. I'll have to do it next weekend since it takes a little while. I really need to scrape off the old wax first. Not fun.
Day 158
March 5, 2010
Dear Diary, We made veggie pizzas for dinner tonight. It's like a lot of fun when we all help do it. I love to like put avocado on it the best. Well, I'm setting my alarm for like super early tomorrow so I can get to the beach and try to catch some sweet waves. Wish me luck!
Day 157
February 25, 2010
Dear Diary, I was so amped to go surfing this week, but the waves have been like no good. The waves like crumble before you can even get going. Every time it rains it seems to happen. Hopefully it'll be like way better this weekend. Oh, time for school!
Day 156
February 22, 2010
Dear Diary, I broke one of my favorite seashells! I was trying to be careful when I like took it out, but then my fingers like totally slipped. I'm so bummed! I wonder if I'll be able to find another one like it. I'm gonna try.
Day 155
February 17, 2010
Dear Diary, My mom is going to like go ballistic! I was doing my homework and using a marker to color part of it. Well, I didn't know the marker was going like through the paper and all over the table. Yikes! And it's a permanent marker too. I tried to clean it off, but it's not working. When she gets home, Mom's going to flip!
Day 154
February 13, 2010
Dear Diary, We had to watch like a totally boring video in music class yesterday. I hate watching videos in school, I'd rather be like doing something. My music teacher shows videos all the time. Boring! It's not like I'm some kind of pop star, but I do like to sing in music class.
Day 153
February 8, 2010
Dear Diary, Oh yeah! I got back my math test today, and I like didn't really think I did so good, but I totally rocked it! I got an "A"! My mom was like over the moon. I think she was surprised like I was. Time for dinner-
Day 152
February 6, 2010
Dear Diary, So happy to be home! We had to like go to a party this afternoon for some little girl I don't even like know. It's the baby of some guy my dad is friends with at work. Usually it like doesn't bother me, but there were no kids there my age. That's so lame.
Day 151
January 31, 2010
Dear Diary, Summer and I wanted to go to the beach today, but it's raining again. Seriously people, enough with like all the rain already. So, I think we're going to chill out at her house instead. I'm just waiting for her to call when she like gets home from the store.
Day 150
January 25, 2010
Dear Diary, We made this like totally yummy fondue last night. We had to use a special kind of cheese for people who are lactose intolerant, but it was pretty good. Then we used like apples, carrots, and bread for dippers. It was a lot of fun!
Day 149
January 17, 2010
Dear Diary, Summer's house was way fun! We played "Rock Band" with like her whole family. I did the best on the drums I think. I didn't really know like a lot of the songs, but that didn't matter. Too cool!
Day 148
January 15, 2010
Dear Diary, I really like wish we could go camping again soon, but it's too cold right now. No more camping until summer probably. Bummer. Well, I'm off to sleep over at Summer's house. Yeah baby!
Day 147
January 9, 2010
Dear Diary, Today is a day for loafing around and like not doing anything. I was so totally busy this week with school and everything. I'm not even sure I'll surf this weekend. I'm just like chillin...
Day 146
January 5, 2010
Dear Diary, Summer wants me to come with her and like watch her cheerleading practice. I'm not really into cheerleading, but I guess it's like only fair since Summer watches me surf at the beach. There's like some kind of a cheering competition in a couple of weeks. Better go get ready!
Day 145
December 27, 2009
Dear Diary, I so, so, so want to get my ears double pierced, but my mom says I have to like wait until I get older. How much older mom? She like wouldn't even tell me. That's a bummer.
Day 144
December 21, 2009
Dear Diary, It's like the first day of winter. Dad says maybe if there's good snow we can totally head to the mountains and do some skiing. I prefer snowboarding, it's more like surfing. Hurry up snow!
Day 143
December 16, 2009
Dear Diary, I found a new pretty shell for my collection. I had to look it up, and it's like called a Nautilus. It's got one tiny piece missing on the bottom, but you can't even like see it when it's in my glass table. Super sweet!
Day 142
December 9, 2009
Dear Diary, You can always go to the beach and like totally tell who the grommets are. You know, the newbie surfers. I remember when everyone used to call me a grommet, I didn't even like know what it was! Now I see most of the same people at the beach. It's kind of cool, you know?
Day 141
December 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and Dad wanted to like go out by themselves to go shopping. I hate to like miss out on a shopping trip, but they said it was more of a date. A shopping date? Whatever, Emme and I are making vegetarian pizzas for dinner.
Day 140
November 28, 2009
Dear Diary, There were some awesome barrels at the beach this morning. Sweet! You can tell the water's getting colder, but it's sooooo worth it. I went with Christian and his family to catch a few waves before like the beach was packed. It was perfect!
Day 139
November 22, 2009
Dear Diary, I love that Emme works at the bagel store. She brought home the way awesomest pumpkin bagels the other day. I was thinking they'd be like gross, but they ruled! Now they're gone, and we're all like totally waiting to see if she brings home more tonight.
Day 138
November 17, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm like not the only vegetarian in my class! I was so totally shocked! There are two others in my class. Not that it matters, but it's like kind of cool to not be the only one. I just can't beleive we never figured it out before. I guess I never pay attention to what other people like eat for lunch.
Day 137
November 15, 2009
Dear Diary, For our writing assignment, we're supposed to like come up with a menu for Thanksgiving dinner. Then we're going to do a graph to see what foods got the most votes. I know mine will probably be like the only one without turkey. Then everyone will ask me, like "how can you have Thanksgiving without turkey?" I'm totally used to people asking, that's the way it is when you're a vegetarian.
Day 136
November 11, 2009
Dear Diary, Summer walked by me at school this morning and like said, "what's up pastey?" And I looked at her like, "What?" And then she told me that I had toothpaste all over my chin. Oops! Guess I missed that earlier. At least I didn't like have to go the whole day with it there, right?
Day 135
November 3, 2009
Dear Diary, My dad is like planning a camping trip for the week of Thanksgiving. We don't do the whole turkey thing anyway since we're vegetarians, so why not? And it'll probably be Yosemite again, which I like love! The only thing is that even when it's warm in the daytime, it's freezing at night. Brrrrr, better bring electric sleeping bags!
Day 134
October 29, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm kind of like bummed that we're not doing a Halloween party this year like we did last year. Mom said we've just been too busy and that it's not free to have a big party at your house. Okay, like okay, I get it. Next year maybe?
Day 133
October 23, 2009
Dear Diary, Like yeah for Friday! This week was way too long for me. I had like tons of homework and two tests, and almost no time for the beach. Dad said we could go tomorrow morning. Sweet!
Day 132
October 21, 2009
Dear Diary, My big sister Emme is like so mad at me right now. I have no idea why, she won't even talk to me yet. What did I do? Mom says to like just leave her alone and when she's ready she'll tell me. Great, so I just have to like deal with her being rude until then? That stinks!
Day 131
October 13, 2009
Dear Diary, Rain, rain, like please go away! The last thing we need is more rain in southern California. Everyone is like nervous because the fires got rid of so many trees and bushes, and now that it's like raining so much were at risk for mudslides. Without the trees there, there's nothing to keep the dirt from like sliding in the rain. I guess I better find a good book to read because the rain isn't stopping yet.
Day 130
October 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I wish we lived near one of those like big corn mazes. That seems like it would be fun to go through in the fall. I saw one on the news, but it was in Carmel, California and that's like too far away from where I live. Too bad!
Day 129
October 5, 2009
Dear Diary, I cannot believe the fires are still like burning around parts of California. I like totally hate to see the national forests burning. But then there are some fires that are like burning people's homes. I can't imagine how awful that must be. The firefighters are like working way hard to put the fires out, but it seems like this has been going on forever, since this summer.
Day 128
September 29, 2009
Dear Diary, The best time of year to surf southern California is like right now! It only stinks that it can't be during the summer when I have like no school. I have it down to a science though: get home from school, grab a quick snack, do my homework, and I'm like ready to hit the waves. It was pretty sweet out there this afternoon. Summer even came to watch Christian and I out there.
Day 127
September 19, 2009
Dear Diary, I just ate the yummiest hummus and pretzel sticks. We eat like a lot of hummus in our house. We have to since we're vegetarians. I think I could sit and eat like a whole bowl all by myself, that's how much I love it.
Day 126
September 17, 2009
Dear Diary, We're supposed to like bring something into school that tells about like who we are. I wanted to bring my surfboard, but my parents said it's like waaaaay too big to bring. Instead, I'm going to bring some of my favorite seashells from my collection. Some of them I've had for as long as I can remember. Gotta bring my sand dollar-
Day 125
September 11, 2009
Dear Diary, Today our school did like a memorial for 9/11. I don't remember 9/11 when it like happened, but my parents do. I was like 2. They said it was a really sad day, but that it reminded everyone of what's most important. You know, like family and friends and all that stuff. That's what we talked about in school today.
Day 124
September 7, 2009
Dear Diary, I know I haven't like written in awhile, but it's been like so crazy around here with school starting and everything! I'm loving this year so far, even though it just started. I already like know my way around and who all the teachers are. It'll be way harder when I get to like middle school. Summer isn't in my class, but Christian is. I haven't seen him in like forever! I wonder where he was all summer?
Day 123
August 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so bummed! Summer called to see if I could go with her and like her family to the waterpark this weekend, but I can't. We have some picnic to go to for my dad's work. I would so rather go to the waterpark! She said maybe I can go next time.
Day 122
August 25, 2009
Dear Diary, I had to go with my dad to like take the car in this morning. The air conditioner isn't working in it, and it's like totally roasting in it. Unfortunately, it's something like really expensive, some like evaporator coil thing. The guy told my dad $1,300. I thought Dad was going to flip! Yikes! I'm glad I'm not a grown up-
Day 121
August 21, 2009
Dear Diary, Oops! I was drinking a yummy smoothie while I was on the computer, and I like accidentally knocked it over. It spilled all into the modem, and now the computer is not working. Like, sorry Mom and Dad! I hope they can fix it. I've been emailing my friends who are still on vacation.
Day 120
August 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Guess who I saw at the mall today? Ayla, like my new friend from school. We were both doing shopping for school. She has like really awesome taste in clothes. She gave me her phone number, but now I like have no idea where I put it. I hate it when that happens-
Day 119
August 8, 2009
Dear Diary, It's fun having family visit, but absolutely exhausting! I didn't even mean to sleep in this morning, and didn't wake up until like almost 10:00, which is late for me. But now I'm ready to go on our next adventure. We might drive over to see some like vineyards later on.
Day 118
August 3, 2009
Dear Diary, They're here! Aunt Daniella and Uncle Matt got here like a couple days ago with my little cousin Cooper. I think they were a little surprised about how we eat like vegetarian and all, but they seem cool and willing to try it while they're here. Little Cooper totally loved the edamame beans I cooked for her. We're going to take them to the beach at sunset. Sweet!
Day 117
July 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Okay, I'm still sad about Yosemite, but I am like kind of excited to see my aunt, uncle and little cousin. They should be here this weekend. Gotta go, I promised my mom I'd like go with her to the health food store. At least then I can pick out some snacks and foods I like.
Day 116
July 25, 2009
Dear Diary, Total bummer. I thought we were going to get to like go camping at Yosemite before the end of summer, but now my parents say no. Like, what? I know we already went to Mojave, but Yosemite is still the best. Dad like said that we just don't have time. My aunt and uncle are coming to visit for two weeks, so we like can't go then. And then school will be starting. I'm so sad.
Day 115
July 20, 2009
Dear Diary, Today was like the first time I can remember where I actually wanted to eat meat. You know, my whole family is vegetarian. Summer and I were like at the mall with her mom, and we had lunch at the food court. Summer was eating some Japanese stir fry with chicken, and it totally smelled delicious. It's not like I'm allergic to meat, I'm only lactose intolerant.
Day 114
July 17, 2009
Dear Diary, I went with Summer to like her little cousin's birthday party. It was really a swimming party, and then they had like a treasure hunt. Summer and I were the only big kids there, but it was okay. At first I felt stupid doing like a little kid treasure hunt, but it was fun figuring out where the next clues were. The only bad thing is that I totally forgot my bathing suit there, so I have to like ask Summer to get it for me.
Day 113
July 10, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom is dragging me to get my hair cut. I'm not like getting it chopped off or anything, just a couple inches. My hair has gotten so blonde from being outside at the beach. After that I hope we're going to the mall or something. There's a new rad lookin store I want to check out-
Day 112
July 6, 2009
Dear Diary, It's so good to be home! And today is the Surf Fest at Ocean Beach! Summer is like out of town, but Christian and I are going. Sounds like there are going to be like a ton of people there. I need to go wax my board and get ready, see ya!
Day 111
June 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so ready to be home now instead of driving in the car. I think my sister Emme and I need some more like personal space or something. We're starting to totally get on each other's nerves. And when you're driving in the car there's totally nowhere to go to get away from each other!
Day 110
June 26, 2009
Dear Diary, Yesterday we went on a way cool tour of the Mitchell Caverns. They're like these caves made of something called limestone, really cool. We got to hike through them on the tour. I've never been in a cave before and it was pretty neat. I'm so like bummed that we already leave Sunday to head home. The only good thing will be getting back to like air conditioning and my big comfy bed!
Day 109
June 23, 2009
Dear Diary, Mojave is so amazing! We went hiking yesterday through a canyon, and it was like totally beautiful! Roughing it isn't so bad, but it's awesome that my paernts were way prepared. We had to bring our own firewood and water, and a million other things. It's warm, but not as hot as it will be in a couple months. I read on like one of the signs that it can get up to 115 degrees. I am so not there!
Day 108
June 16, 2009
Dear Diary, The waves were super big today, but we had to do a lot of paddling to like get there. It was sooo worth it! There were plenty of overhead peelers to ride. Once again, Summer sat on the beach and watched while Christian and I were like out in the water. One of these days I'm so getting her to try it.
Day 107
June 11, 2009
Dear Diary, Summer and I went with her mom to the mall last night and I found the way coolest bracelet. It's called Mother of Pearl, which is a seashell. Perfect, since I like totally love seashells, right? Summer wanted to buy one too, but I got the last one, so she bought a different one. Maybe we can take turns wearing each others' bracelets.
Day 106
June 7, 2009
Dear Diary, My sister Emme is in like so much trouble! She called in sick to work so that she could go to the beach instead. Yikes! My dad was so upset when he found out. I wonder how much trouble she'll like get into with her boss? It's not like she doesn't have plenty of other time to like hang at the beach with her friends, it's summer!
Day 105
May 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Whoops! I accidentally knocked over the gas can for the lawn mower, and like a bunch of gas spilled all over the garage. I ran into the house to get my mom, and she helped me clean it up. Thanks Mom! That stuff smells like totally gross!
Day 104
May 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm like so excited! We're going camping at the Mojave National Preserve! It's not quite as far as Yosemite, but it seems like it might be more challenging since it's real camping, and not staying in a lodge. But there's like canyons, and horseback riding, and other cool stuff to do. Besides, Dad says maybe we can do Yosemite too at the end of the summer. We leave in like 3 weeks!
Day 103
May 19, 2009
Dear Diary, Family meeting tonight. This is like a fun one though. It's time to plan our summer, and we usually have a family talk about what we want to do. And that of course means like where do we want to go camping! We always do Yosemite, and I like totally love it there, but it might be cool to try somewhere new. Time for dinner!
Day 102
May 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Dad like picked me up from school today, and was listening to the funniest music on the radio. When I asked him what it like was, he said "country music". It's not that it was so bad, it just sounded like, way different than anything I've ever heard my parents listen to. I swear, my dad will listen to any kind of music, and that's probably a good thing-
Day 101
May 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I really do think it was like something in that dip I had. I'm feeling way better now. Sparkling water helped. That's the first time I've like been sick from eating dairy in a while. Not fun. Time for bed-
Day 100
May 6, 2009
Dear Diary, I like haven't been feeling so good today. I think I ate something at Summer's house that might have had milk in it. We were eating this veggie dip with bread, and I like totally wasn't thinking. My stomach has been so sore. I hate that feeling. It makes me not want to eat. I'm going to like ask Mom if she has something that will make it feel better. See ya-
Day 99
April 29, 2009
Dear Diary, Our class has been doing a lot lately to like learn about recycling and other things to help the Earth. Earth day was like last week, so there's a lot to talk about. I talked my parents into buying these new lightbulbs that use like way less energy in our house. I wonder what else I can think of?
Day 98
April 23, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom and I went to like this totally cool natural food store. It's much easier to find vegan friendly foods there. We like bought these awesome roasted pumpkin seeds. Dad said if I keep eating so many of them I'm going to turn into a pumpkin. I like pumpkins-
Day 97
April 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Oh no! I spoke too soon about my sunburn like not peeling! Now I look like a lizard or something! I wonder if I can just wear longsleeves until it goes away. It's like not too hot yet. I'm such a goof!
Day 96
April 13, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm glad to be back at school, especially since my dad like forbid me from going to the beach again after my sunburn. How can you have spring break with like no beach? I keep rubbing aloe on my arms, hoping they won't peel and look totally nasty. So far, so good.
Day 95
April 9, 2009
Dear Diary, Bummer. I like got a little bit sunburned yesterday at the beach. Now my dad says no more beach this week so it has time to get better. That like means the rest of spring break! I can't believe I got sunburned, I like never get burned. But I usually wear lots of sun lotion. Total bummer!
Day 94
April 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Tomorrow starts spring break! That means like more time at the beach! The waves aren't quite as big now, but that's okay. My favorite place to be is still the beach. I should like call Summer and Christian and see when they want to meet tomorrow.
Day 93
March 31, 2009
Dear Diary, Mom brought home like the cutest silver hoop earrings she found for me at the mall. It like always makes me a little nervous when my mom picks out something for me by herself, but she totally scored this time! I think it made her happy to find something I loved. She knows how picky I am about clothes and jewelry.
Day 92
March 26, 2009
Dear Diary, That girl in my school that just like moved here from Iran? Ayla. She is the nicest girl! We ate lunch together today, and she had a lot of questions, especially about the way I talk. She says I like use the word "like" a lot. Is that true? Ha, ha, I know. My mom keeps like totally reminding me that I do!
Day 91
March 18, 2009
Dear Diary, I don't think I've like ever actually been late for school, but I have a hard time getting ready in the morning a lot of times. My mom's all telling me to "hurry up, get dressed. Hurry up, eat your breakfast". So technically we're never late, but like, my mom thinks if you're not 10 minutes early than you're late. It's like having a drill sergeant in our house sometimes!
Day 90
March 14, 2009
Dear Diary, Yesterday I like hurt my big toe at Summer's house. We were walking inside from the back patio and I like totally forgot about stepping up to go into the house. I tripped and fell all the way down. I knew my foot hurt, but didn't know it was that bad until I saw my big toe was bleeding. I've been to her house a million times! Not sure how I forgot about the step-
Day 89
March 8, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm like totally off today. Mom just said lights out in half an hour, but the sun like just went down. It's that time change thing. It still feels so early. Supposedly it saves a lot of energy use to do this change like twice a year. I hope it helps, cuz it's like a pain-
Day 88
March 5, 2009
Dear Diary, Like no way! I got like a B+ on my fractions quiz! Wow! I knew I was smart, I just like needed some extra help. Thank you Summer, you rock! My parents were so impressed they hung my paper up on the fridge. Yes, a little like cheesy, but it made me happy.
Day 87
February 26, 2009
Dear Diary, I like cannot believe it, but I actually think I'm starting to get this fraction stuff! Thank you, thank you Summer for being such a good tutor! And it's a good thing I'm getting it too, our next quiz is tomorrow. Better get practicing...
Day 86
February 24, 2009
Dear Diary, Summer is coming over in a little while. She's like going to help me with our homework. You know how I like totally hate fractions. Summer thinks they're easy. Lucky for me I have her to help me, otherwise I might do the whole worksheet wrong without even realizing it. That would be way bad-
Day 85
February 19, 2009
Dear Diary, My sister Emme has been like so totally busy lately. I feel like I haven't even seen her. She got a job at the bagel shop down the street, and now she like brings home these way awesome bagels and goodies everytime she works. I love, love, love the chocolate chip bagels. They rock!
Day 84
February 15, 2009
Dear Diary, It's totally a good thing we already went camping a couple weekends ago. There's a really big storm now, and it's snowing and raining like all over California. We don't have school tomorrow because of the holiday. Looks like I won't be surfing either. And my mom already said we won't be driving like anywhere. There's like supposed to be flooding and everything. Sounds like a good time to reorganize my seashell collection!
Day 83
February 6, 2009
Dear Diary, So anyways, back to our trip to Yosemite...we like did some snowboarding which was way cool! And then we did some iceskating too at this outdoor rink they have there. There's also a spot where you can make smores at this fire ring. That was awesome too! So, all in all, it was a totally cool trip, even though it wasn't roughing it like we usually do.
Day 82
February 4, 2009
Dear Diary, We had so so so much fun at Yosemite last weekend! It was like a totally different experience staying in the lodge instead of camping in our tents. We didn't have to cook our own food, we just ate at the lodge. It was nice, but I like kind of missed doing the outdoors stuff. Not to mention that when you're like lactose intolerant AND vegetarian that it's hard to eat out in restaurants. Mom did pack us a cooler with some food. Got to go, I'll tell you more later!
Day 81
January 30, 2009
Dear Diary, We're in the car right now, on our way to Yosemite! We should be there in like an hour or so. We're going to stay at the lodge instead of using the tents since it's like way cold out. It's right next to the falls. Time for a rest stop. See ya!
Day 80
January 28, 2009
Dear Diary, I am totally psyched! Dad just told us that we're taking like a weekend trip to Yosemite to go skiing! I'll be snowboarding. The slopes there are sweet! Friday there's no school since it's a teacher work day, so a 3 day weekend at Yosemite. I can't wait to tell Summer and Christian.
Day 79
January 20, 2009
Dear Diary, I hate dividing fractions! They like totally mix me up! I always forget to invert first, and then when I multiply I get a way wrong answer. And my teacher said math only gets tougher from here on out. Great, that's very reassuring! As you can tell,I bombed the math test I had last week. I might need a tutor.
Day 78
January 15, 2009
Dear Diary, I'm so totally tired. I have no idea why, but I had a hard time falling asleep last night. I was just like kind of laying there and not feeling tired. Maybe it's that math test I have today that's on my mind. Maybe I better like go study one more time before 6th period.
Day 77
January 9, 2009
Dear Diary, We had fun surfing at the beach on Monday. Well, Christian and I did, Summer just watched us. Bummer that I dinged up my board a bit on some rocks. I'm gonna have to get it fixed or else the board can soak up the water, or so I've been told. But what do I know, I'm just a Grommet! Usually my dad can repair them for me with like some resin he uses.
Day 76
January 5, 2009
Dear Diary, I was like so happy to go back to school today! And of course, I was sportin' my new super cute tie-dye hoodie and jeans that I found at the mall last week. I love wearing hoodies when it's cold outside. They're way comfy! I got to see all my friends again, especially Summer and Christian. We're headin' to the beach this afternoon-
Day 75
December 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I found the coolest shell at the beach today. It's called an olive seashell, and is tan with little speckles on the top. I love it and am totally going to add it to my collection table in my room. Emme always asks me why I need more shells. She thinks I like totally have enough. Well, I just like to collect all the pretty ones, I can't help it!
Day 74
December 25, 2008
Dear Diary, It seems like all my friends are gone for winter vacation. Christian and Summer are both gone, and won't be back until like the weekend before school starts. What a bummer! I wish we could have gone away somewhere too. Oh well, Emme wants me to go with her shopping again like this afternoon. I think I'll go-
Day 73
December 20, 2008
Dear Diary, I like that I get to surf in the winter with better waves, but I totally miss camping. We usually only get to go camping in the spring and summer. It seems like forever ago that we were at Yosemite. That was like so awesome! I hope we get to go there again next summer. It's such a big park that you never get to see it all.
Day 72
December 17, 2008
Dear Diary, That new girl Ayla in my class is pretty cool. She has like the most awesome accent. She's kind of shy, but seems like really nice. We've been eating lunch together too. I introduced her to some of my friends too, like Summer. I'm sure it's way hard to move to a new school in the middle of the school year, where you don't know anybody.
Day 71
December 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Tried to go out surfing this morning, but the swell just wasn't showing. That means I could have slept in instead! Maybe we'll like try again this afternoon at another spot where the wind isn't as bad. Maybe I'll like give Christian a call and see if he's going.
Day 70
December 9, 2008
Dear Diary, This new girl just moved here and is like new in my class. She is from Iran, and her name is Ayla. I like totally love her accent! It is way cool! She's kind of quiet, but she seems like really nice. I asked her to sit with us at lunch today, and she seemed happy not to have to sit by herself.
Day 69
November 28, 2008
Dear Diary, Hey, Happy Thanksgiving! Well, actually it was yesterday, but I haven't really had the chance to write until now. Yesterday we watched football and ate lots of sweet food. The best thing about Thanksgiving being like over? The awesome sales that are the day after Thanksgiving! Dad slept in, but Mom, Emme and I went all over the city finding deals. Have I mentioned that I like LOVE to shop?
Day 68
November 21, 2008
Dear Diary, I was at Summer's house today, when her mom came home from the store with like a huge frozen turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner. It may sound weird, but I've never eaten turkey for Thanksgiving before. Mom like always comes up with some new cool vegetarian recipe for us to try. This year it's going to be some kind of hazelnut ravioli salad. The side dishes are way easy since we can eat most of those. My favorite is the vanilla mashed sweet potatoes. Mmmmm, now I'm making myself totally hungry!
Day 67
November 11, 2008
Dear Diary, Summer and I hung out at her house after school. It's kind of noisey there because they're having like their whole kitchen redone, so we just stayed in the den. We were looking at old pictures from a couple years ago. We looked sooooo little! I hope we stay friends for a long time. We may not agree all the time, and that's okay, but I'm so glad we made up.
Day 66
November 9, 2008
Dear Diary, Now that the election is totally over, Mom and Dad are fine. I think Mom was disappointed her person lost, but she handled it way better than my dad would have. He would have like been pouting and all bummed out. Now we can like get back to eating all our tons of Halloween candy!
Day 65
November 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Whoah! Mom and Dad were getting into an argument this morning about the election. Today's like the big day. Well, Mom wants to vote for McCain, and Dad wants Obama. They like never usually argue, but they both seem to be pretty sure they're right about who to vote for. I'll just be totally glad when the election is over, I'm sick of all the commercials about it!
Day 64
November 3, 2008
Dear Diary, What a blast! We had way more people than we thought we would at our Halloween party. We found this station on the radio that was playing like all Halloween music, and were blaring it. We had tiki torches and everything all over the backyard. The only thing like not fun was cleaning up the next day, but it was so worth it! I hope Mom and Dad let us have another Halloween party next year.
Day 63
October 30, 2008
Dear Diary, The only thing about the party that has been a little like tricky is the food. Since we're lactose intolerant AND vegetarian, we're having a little bit of everything. We have like hummus and cheese with crackers, a veggie tray, fruit salad, and some other stuff. Mom is making one meat dish that will be for our guests, not us. Oh, and like I finally saw Christian at school, he said he's definitely going to be at the party!
Day 62
October 27, 2008
Dear Diary, We had a lot of fun shopping the other day. Everybody always wants to check out different things and go into different stores, but it like works out okay. Now we're busy getting the house and everything ready for our Halloween party. Mom said it looks like we're going to have about 40 people including kids and adults! That rocks! Gotta go help Dad with the outside lights.
Day 61
October 24, 2008
Dear Diary, I love weekends! Our family is going to the outlet mall tomorrow for the day. I have a gift card that I've been dying to use there. They have all these cool boutique shops with awesome necklaces, bracelets, and everything else a girl could want! Shopping is probably the only thing I love to do that even comes close to surfing.
Day 60
October 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I haven't seen Christian at the beach lately, I wonder where he is...it's always more cool to like have someone else to surf with. I want to invite him to our way cool Halloween party. I guess I'll just like have to call him. It sounds like we're going to have a lot of people at our party. It should be totally fun, and I can't wait!
Day 59
October 19, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm sad that I like accidentally broke one of my favorite seashells. Some of them are like way fragile. I know I can probably find another one, but I really liked it. Sometimes I'm just kind of like not so graceful. Mom says it's a wonder how I can stay on top of a surfboard so well.
Day 58
October 17, 2008
Dear Diary, We had black beans and rice for dinner tonight, which I love! The only thing I don't like about black beans and rice is that my mouth always feels totally hot after eating it. Must be that hot sauce we put on top. Anyways, now I'm just chillin' in my room. Emme wants to watch a movie, so I'm going to go see if it's something good.
Day 57
October 13, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm wiped! Spent most of the weekend at the beach with much better waves. Thanks to having Columbus Day off from school today I'm planning on doing absolutely nothing. My whole body is tired from all that surfing. Maybe I'll call Summer and see if she wants to come hang out.
Day 56
October 8, 2008
Dear Diary, Went to the beach, but there was no good wave action, just a bunch of ankle slop. What a bummer. There's supposed to be some better waves again in a couple days. I think I'm going to like work ahead on my homework so I'll have plenty of time to surf then. See ya!
Day 55
October 4, 2008
Dear Diary, I went and bought the newest Surfer magazine. They have like some really cool pictures that I want to hang on my bulletin board. There's one of this enormous wave in Hawaii where you can like barely see the surfer on his board because he looks so small! Yikes! Not sure I'll ever be ready for a wave that big-
Day 54
October 3, 2008
Dear Diary, The wave action at the beach has been totally awesome the last few days! That's where I've been like everyday after school. Today I ran into my buddy Christian. He's pretty good at surfing, and he was teaching me a few new tricks. It's always good to learn something new about surfing.
Day 53
September 30, 2008
Dear Diary, In the summer, I can pretty much surf any day of the week, as long as like Mom or Dad will go. But during the school year it's a little harder to like have the time with school and homework. Luckily, my parents are totally cool, about it. As long as I don't have like tons of homework they'll take me to the beach afterschool. Today the swells were sweet to ride! I hope it lasts a few more days.
Day 52
September 27, 2008
Dear Diary, Yes, I'm a vegetarian. Like, my whole family is vegetarian, but I have my limits. Mom and Dad are very big on foods being organic and like way healthy. Usually it's foods I love, but these cereals Mom has been buying are kind of gross. I swear this one tastes like sawdust, not that I've ever eaten sawdust before!
Day 51
September 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I was like so totally happy to go back to school today. After working in the yard all weekend my back and arms are killing me! Dad took a vacation day to finish up the yard today. I can only hope he's all done before I get home from school, or else he'll like put me back to work! Time to go to lunch-
Day 50
September 21, 2008
Dear Diary, Remember how I was like so excited to find out what Dad's surprise was? He came home Saturday morning with a big truck full of plants and mulch. Surprise! He planned for us all to do like yard work all weekend! That is like so not a surprise. Surprises are supposed to be fun happy things, not work! Emme, Mom and I agreed that Dad is not allowed to come up with anymore surprises.
Day 49
September 19, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm way happy that it's Friday! Two whole days of relaxation and like no homework! Dad said he has something planned for us this weekend, some kind of a surprise. Can't imagine what it is, Dad's not usually big on surprises.
Day 48
September 15, 2008
Dear Diary, Summer and I went to the beach yesterday to catch some waves and have fun. She like hasn't been to the beach in forever, probably since we weren't getting along. I'm glad we're like trying to be friends again, I really missed her. Summer always makes me laugh.
Day 47
September 13, 2008
Dear Diary, Everybody is like already talking about Halloween. I think we're going to go over to the Halloween costume warehouse that's not too far away. I am so not going trick-or-treating, but my parents always have a Halloween party. I like haven't even decided what to dress up as yet, but it will be cool to look.
Day 46
September 10, 2008
Dear Diary, I was like so surprised to see that in the cafeteria they have a new vegetarian menu. I've never seen that before. Usually I bring my lunch to school, but now at least I can like buy my lunch once in a while. As long as there's no cheese on it since I'm lactose intolerant.
Day 45
September 6, 2008
Dear Diary, I think I'm going to call Christian and see if he wants to meet at the beach to catch some waves this morning before it gets too hot. I finally got some new wax for my board. Thank goodness! Without wax on your board it's almost impossible for your feet to stay on it. The wax kind of sticks your feet to the board. And that's a good thing.
Day 44
September 4, 2008
Dear Diary, My mom is like so funny sometimes. She went to the hairdresser tonight and came home with a perm. Not the kind that looks like a poodle or anything, but it's pretty wavey. It's just odd because shes like had straight hair for as long as I can remember. I think it looks pretty sweet though.
Day 43
August 30, 2008
Dear Diary, The weather was really yucky today so we all kind of like vegged out. We played some board games, which we haven't done in forever. It was fun, even though Emme kept winning. Then we made these awesome vegetarian mini pizzatas. Mine was way messy with all the toppings I loaded on it, but it was yummy!
Day 42
August 29, 2008
Dear Diary, When I called Summer she was kind of quiet at first. Then she said she felt really bad about the way she acted before. She told me she was sorry. It's hard when your friends say things that really hurt your feelings because you like totally trust them. But she said she was sorry, and I want to give us another chance at being friends. Like, that would be the best!
Day 41
August 27, 2008
Dear Diary, School started yesterday. I ran into Summer in the hallway. And then we have pe together. At first it was like kind of awkward. We haven't really talked at all since like the beginning of summer. She said she still wants to try to be friends. We used to have so much fun together. Summer likes to hang out at the beach too. I think maybe I'll call her.
Day 40
August 23, 2008
Dear Diary, It's almost September, and that means surf's up in southern California! For some reason the water is always cleaner and warmer than it is in the summer. It has something to do with the Santa Ana winds. However it works, it means good size swells for me!
Day 39
August 22, 2008
Dear Diary, I like totally haven't had a chance to tell you about my new classes! It's been crazy busy around here. Even at night, Mom or Dad have been driving Emme and I all over the city trying to find all the school supplies our teachers said we need. But school is narley so far. I actually have a couple of my friends in my classes too. Not too much homework so far. The teachers have mostly been going over the rules and doing assessments to find out what we already know.
Day 38
August 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Only two more days until school starts! I wonder who will be in my classes this year. Hopefully some of my friends. I can't wait to tell them about the way awesome summer I had hanging out at the beach and going camping. I wonder what they did.
Day 37
August 13, 2008
Dear Diary, My sister Emme thinks she's like so cool because she's starting highschool this year. I asked her if she wanted to hang out at the beach or something and she gave me a dirty look. Mom told me later that it's just a phase and like not to worry. I hope so, I love hanging out with Emme. We have some wicked fun together.
Day 36
August 8, 2008
Dear Diary, The waves at the beach were flat today so we collected sea shells instead. Christian says that's like so boring. I'm always looking for shells I don't have yet, or shells that look unusual. The prettiest shell in my collection is called a Miter. It's white with brown speckles on it.
Day 35
August 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Sometimes it's hard being lactose intolerant. When I see someone eating pizza it makes my mouth water. We have pizza made special for our diet, but it doesn't taste quite the same. I guess it's better than nothing. Of course I wouldn't want my pizza with pepperoni or ham on it since I'm vegetarian. I like my pizza with pineapple.
Day 34
August 1, 2008
Dear Diary, At least our trip was way fun. Getting home from Yosemite was so not cool. We got a flat tire while we were on the interstate. All of a sudden the car was going like thump, thump, thump. We had to wait a while for Dad to change the tire. I was just happy he knew how to do it so we didn't have to like wait for a tow truck.
Day 33
July 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I can't believe we already leave to go home tomorrow. We're trying to see and do as much as we can while we're here. Today we're going to check out the Yosemite falls. The water falls like over two thousand feet!
Day 32
July 25, 2008
Dear Diary, Yesterday we went rafting down the Merced River. It's like a three mile trip and was way fun! All four of us fit into one big raft. We had paddles to use too. I liked sitting right in the front of the raft. I'm having so much fun at Yosemite, just like I always do.
Day 31
July 23, 2008
Dear Diary, Every time we come to Yosemite we see something like totally new, or do something new. We've been doing a ton of hiking this time. It's cool, you just have to watch out for the bears. But we even have to be careful at the campsite about bears. We have to store all our food in food lockers. And there are signs everywhere about not leaving trash around or even in your car. I guess bears are like very smart.
Day 30
July 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Today I'm heading over to the beach since we'll be gone all week camping. I called my friend Christian and since his ankle is feeling way better he said he'll be there too. Mom said we can't stay all day since we have like sooooo much packing to do. I'm hoping the waves will be up. Better get my board ready.
Day 29
July 16, 2008
Dear Diary, Dad and I went shopping tonight to get some new camping supplies. One of our tents is starting to leak, so we found like the coolest new tent. It's way bigger! The only thing is I have to share it with my sister Emme. I guess that's okay since it's so ginormous.
Day 28
July 14, 2008
Dear Diary, Way cool! Mom and Dad promised we would like go on another camping trip before school started. So next week we cruise over to Yosemite National Park. We were going to try a new spot to camp, but not this time. We've been to Yosemite so many times, and we know how sweet it is. So like pack the veggie hotdogs and let's get ready to go! I can't wait!
Day 27
July 11, 2008
Dear Diary, My new friend Christian called today and said I may not see him at the beach for a while. I guess he like sprained his ankle. What a bummer that would be. The waves sound pretty sweet today on the surf report. I'm going to ask Dad if we can hit the beach later.
Day 26
July 7, 2008
Dear Diary, Shopping with Mom and my sister was pretty sweet. I got all these awesome new clothes for school. And even found the sandals I've been looking for. We're not allowed to wear sandals to school. Which seems like so old fashioned. But outside of school, I wear sandals everywhere.
Day 25
July 5, 2008
Dear Diary, Mom and I are going shopping today with my sister Emme. There's a totally cool outlet mall a couple hours away. I need to find some new earrings and sandals. I love to go shopping! Especially when it's for clothes and new cool accessories.
Day 24
July 2, 2008
Dear Diary, Summer has started calling my house. She says she wants to be friends again. I'm just not sure I want to like deal with all that again. Too much drama. I feel bad because we were like friends for a way long time. Mom says I should think about it before I decide.
Day 23
June 29, 2008
Dear Diary, I saw Christian at the beach again today. He was eating a hamburger and offered me another one from his bag. I said "no thanks, I can't". He kind of looked at me funny, so I told him I'm a vegetarian. That my whole family is vegetarian. He seemed so surprised. I don't know why, this is California afterall!
Day 22
June 28, 2008
Dear Diary, I am totally stoked! Dad says we're going on another camping trip soon! He says since my sister and I are out of school it seems like a good idea. I wonder if we'll go back to Yosemite? I love it there, but it's like always cool to try a new place to camp too.
Day 21
June 26, 2008
Dear Diary, I made a new friend at the beach today. His name is Christian. We were both trying to ride the same wave in, and almost crashed into each other. I guess he like felt bad or something, because he kept apologizing. It was fun having someone to hang out with at the beach now that Summer and I aren't really friends anymore.
Day 20
June 20, 2008
Dear Diary, Now I know what a grommet is! I looked it up on the internet, and it says "a young surfer". So it's not a bad thing that guy called me at the beach. I feel way better now. I hate when like somebody uses a word you don't know, and then you feel totally dumb for not knowing what they're talking about.
Day 19
June 19, 2008
Dear Diary, I guess I'm still like kind of a newbie at this surfing thing. Today when I was out catching some waves with my friends, some boy called me a "grommet". He said something about all the kids being out of school and now here I am with like all the other grommets. I had no idea what he was like getting at. But he said it's cool. I think I may have to look it up.
Day 18
June 17, 2008
Dear Diary, I'm totally stoked now! I figured out like the perfect way to keep my seashells. And now Mom is happy too. We found this way cool table that's like a jewelry display case. But instead of jewelry, I arranged my seashell collection inside of it. It looks totally awesome in my room.
Day 17
June 13, 2008
Dear Diary, I have so many seashells because I like find them whenever I'm at the beach. My mom's been nagging me to like figure out something to do with all of them. I like want to find a way to keep them where everyone can see them. I better start thinking of an idea, or my mom will like totally freak out from what Dad said.
Day 16
June 11, 2008
Dear Diary, Oh my gosh! Like the totally grossest thing happened today. I forgot about the hummus sandwich I had tucked away in my pack while we were camping at Yosemite. And that was like forever ago. Well, this afternoon I kept smelling this like totally awful smell in my room. Did you know that hummus like gets moldy and totally gross when it's not refrigerated? Well, now I know too!
Day 15
June 8, 2008
Dear Diary, Ugggh. My family went to like a super cool summer party this weekend. It was all good until we went home that night. I had like the worst stomach ache. Dad thinks I ate something at the party that had milk or cheese in it. Sometimes it's like not cool to not be able to eat any dairy products. It's easy to eat at home, but like so hard when we go out somewhere.
Day 14
June 4, 2008
Dear Diary, Wow! it has been like so long since I last wrote. We went camping at Yosemite, which was like totally awesome, except for the bugs. Then school just finished for like the whole summer. It's just been soooo crazy around here. I'm hoping now that school is out I'll be hanging at the beach more.
Day 13
May 16, 2008
Dear Diary, we are on our way to Yosemite with takes us a while from Santa Barbara. I don’t mind, though, because I’m like so excited to get there and pitch the tent. My mom said we can even make smores the first night! Sometimes, my mom is like such a nag, but most of the time…she’s pretty cool.
Day 11
May 11, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, I had a talk with Summer about what happened at the beach. I told her that I don’t think it was very nice to say I was showing off to all the other kids. It didn’t go that great because she said that she didn’t say I was showing off. So, now she’s talking bad stuff about me AND lying about it to my face. I think I don’t want to be her friend anymore, but how do I end a friendship? I guess I will just talk to other kids and not make a big deal about it.
Day 12
May 10, 2008
Dear Diary, Next weekend my mom and dad said that we are going to visit my grandparents near Yosemite. I love going to Yosemite! It is the BEST park and it is huge. You can go horseback riding, or camping, or hiking, or fishing. My family likes to camp so we will stay in tents, which is always a blast! My grandparents have an RV, so they will stay near us and we can hang out with them in the RV if we want. My grandparents are still very young and like to do a bunch of neat stuff. I guess I am lucky about that because I have a lot of friends who don’t have grandparents because they already died.
Day 10
May 4, 2008
Dear Diary, I am like completely confused! My friend Summer told some kids at school that I was like showing off at the beach on her boogie board! I was not showing off, but I guess I am kinda good at it since I am a surfer. Why did she have to say that I was showing off? Can’t someone be good at something without people getting weird? I don’t know what to do. I thought she was my friend.
Day 9
May 1, 2008
Dear Diary, I am like so psyched because the weather is turning really warm these days, and the ocean is just awesome. The other day, I was at the beach with my friend, Summer, and we like had the best time. My dad took us and he just sat under an umbrella and read the paper while me and Summer swam and talked. We even played on her boogie board, which was a blast.
Day 8
April 24, 2008
Dear Diary, I was invited to a party this weekend by this boy in my class named Dylan. I am not sure whether I am going to go or not because I want to know what other girls are going. It is at a mini golf place so I think it will be fun. I have no idea what to get him, though, maybe a gift card..
Day 7
April 21, 2008
Dear Diary, Well, my mom said that if I have caught up on all my homework, then I can go surfing later today! I am so happy and I don’t even care that the water will be cold. I will wear my long wetsuit and have a blast!
Day 6
April 18, 2008
Dear Diary, I am totally missing the ocean so like that means I am like getting totally better. If I don’t like surf almost every day, I get like totally bummed. Even though I have gone back to school, my mom says that I still can’t go surfing! Do you ever think that moms are totally bonkers sometimes? I mean, I am like totally fine now!!
Day 5
April 14, 2008
Dear Diary, I know I haven’t written in a while, but I ended up being really sick for like a whole week. I was so bored of lying around the house. I read books, watched TV, and even did a huge 1000 piece puzzle. I was actually looking forward to going back to school.
Day 4
March 28, 2008
Day 3
March 25, 2008
Day 2
March 21, 2008
Day 1
March 18, 2008
Dear Diary,
Today was like the best day of like my whole life. I was like on my surfboard and like surfing when I saw two dolphins! They were so like cute!
