Charity's Diary

Day 67

November 11, 2008

Dear Diary, Summer and I hung out at her house after school. It's kind of noisey there because they're having like their whole kitchen redone, so we just stayed in the den. We were looking at old pictures from a couple years ago. We looked sooooo little! I hope we stay friends for a long time. We may not agree all the time, and that's okay, but I'm so glad we made up.

Day 66

November 9, 2008

Dear Diary, Now that the election is totally over, Mom and Dad are fine. I think Mom was disappointed her person lost, but she handled it way better than my dad would have. He would have like been pouting and all bummed out. Now we can like get back to eating all our tons of Halloween candy!

Day 65

November 4, 2008

Dear Diary, Whoah! Mom and Dad were getting into an argument this morning about the election. Today's like the big day. Well, Mom wants to vote for McCain, and Dad wants Obama. They like never usually argue, but they both seem to be pretty sure they're right about who to vote for. I'll just be totally glad when the election is over, I'm sick of all the commercials about it!

Day 64

November 3, 2008

Dear Diary, What a blast! We had way more people than we thought we would at our Halloween party. We found this station on the radio that was playing like all Halloween music, and were blaring it. We had tiki torches and everything all over the backyard. The only thing like not fun was cleaning up the next day, but it was so worth it! I hope Mom and Dad let us have another Halloween party next year.

Day 63

October 30, 2008

Dear Diary, The only thing about the party that has been a little like tricky is the food. Since we're lactose intolerant AND vegetarian, we're having a little bit of everything. We have like hummus and cheese with crackers, a veggie tray, fruit salad, and some other stuff. Mom is making one meat dish that will be for our guests, not us. Oh, and like I finally saw Christian at school, he said he's definitely going to be at the party!

Day 62

October 27, 2008

Dear Diary, We had a lot of fun shopping the other day. Everybody always wants to check out different things and go into different stores, but it like works out okay. Now we're busy getting the house and everything ready for our Halloween party. Mom said it looks like we're going to have about 40 people including kids and adults! That rocks! Gotta go help Dad with the outside lights.

Day 61

October 24, 2008

Dear Diary, I love weekends! Our family is going to the outlet mall tomorrow for the day. I have a gift card that I've been dying to use there. They have all these cool boutique shops with awesome necklaces, bracelets, and everything else a girl could want! Shopping is probably the only thing I love to do that even comes close to surfing.

Day 60

October 22, 2008

Dear Diary, I haven't seen Christian at the beach lately, I wonder where he is...it's always more cool to like have someone else to surf with. I want to invite him to our way cool Halloween party. I guess I'll just like have to call him. It sounds like we're going to have a lot of people at our party. It should be totally fun, and I can't wait!

Day 59

October 19, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm sad that I like accidentally broke one of my favorite seashells. Some of them are like way fragile. I know I can probably find another one, but I really liked it. Sometimes I'm just kind of like not so graceful. Mom says it's a wonder how I can stay on top of a surfboard so well.

Day 58

October 17, 2008

Dear Diary, We had black beans and rice for dinner tonight, which I love! The only thing I don't like about black beans and rice is that my mouth always feels totally hot after eating it. Must be that hot sauce we put on top. Anyways, now I'm just chillin' in my room. Emme wants to watch a movie, so I'm going to go see if it's something good.

Day 57

October 13, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm wiped! Spent most of the weekend at the beach with much better waves. Thanks to having Columbus Day off from school today I'm planning on doing absolutely nothing. My whole body is tired from all that surfing. Maybe I'll call Summer and see if she wants to come hang out.

Day 56

October 8, 2008

Dear Diary, Went to the beach, but there was no good wave action, just a bunch of ankle slop. What a bummer. There's supposed to be some better waves again in a couple days. I think I'm going to like work ahead on my homework so I'll have plenty of time to surf then. See ya!

Day 55

October 4, 2008

Dear Diary, I went and bought the newest Surfer magazine. They have like some really cool pictures that I want to hang on my bulletin board. There's one of this enormous wave in Hawaii where you can like barely see the surfer on his board because he looks so small! Yikes! Not sure I'll ever be ready for a wave that big-

Day 54

October 3, 2008

Dear Diary, The wave action at the beach has been totally awesome the last few days! That's where I've been like everyday after school. Today I ran into my buddy Christian. He's pretty good at surfing, and he was teaching me a few new tricks. It's always good to learn something new about surfing.

Day 53

September 30, 2008

Dear Diary, In the summer, I can pretty much surf any day of the week, as long as like Mom or Dad will go. But during the school year it's a little harder to like have the time with school and homework. Luckily, my parents are totally cool, about it. As long as I don't have like tons of homework they'll take me to the beach afterschool. Today the swells were sweet to ride! I hope it lasts a few more days.

Day 52

September 27, 2008

Dear Diary, Yes, I'm a vegetarian. Like, my whole family is vegetarian, but I have my limits. Mom and Dad are very big on foods being organic and like way healthy. Usually it's foods I love, but these cereals Mom has been buying are kind of gross. I swear this one tastes like sawdust, not that I've ever eaten sawdust before!

Day 51

September 22, 2008

Dear Diary, I was like so totally happy to go back to school today. After working in the yard all weekend my back and arms are killing me! Dad took a vacation day to finish up the yard today. I can only hope he's all done before I get home from school, or else he'll like put me back to work! Time to go to lunch-

Day 50

September 21, 2008

Dear Diary, Remember how I was like so excited to find out what Dad's surprise was? He came home Saturday morning with a big truck full of plants and mulch. Surprise! He planned for us all to do like yard work all weekend! That is like so not a surprise. Surprises are supposed to be fun happy things, not work! Emme, Mom and I agreed that Dad is not allowed to come up with anymore surprises.

Day 49

September 19, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm way happy that it's Friday! Two whole days of relaxation and like no homework! Dad said he has something planned for us this weekend, some kind of a surprise. Can't imagine what it is, Dad's not usually big on surprises.

Day 48

September 15, 2008

Dear Diary, Summer and I went to the beach yesterday to catch some waves and have fun. She like hasn't been to the beach in forever, probably since we weren't getting along. I'm glad we're like trying to be friends again, I really missed her. Summer always makes me laugh.

Day 47

September 13, 2008

Dear Diary, Everybody is like already talking about Halloween. I think we're going to go over to the Halloween costume warehouse that's not too far away. I am so not going trick-or-treating, but my parents always have a Halloween party. I like haven't even decided what to dress up as yet, but it will be cool to look.

Day 46

September 10, 2008

Dear Diary, I was like so surprised to see that in the cafeteria they have a new vegetarian menu. I've never seen that before. Usually I bring my lunch to school, but now at least I can like buy my lunch once in a while. As long as there's no cheese on it since I'm lactose intolerant.

Day 45

September 6, 2008

Dear Diary, I think I'm going to call Christian and see if he wants to meet at the beach to catch some waves this morning before it gets too hot. I finally got some new wax for my board. Thank goodness! Without wax on your board it's almost impossible for your feet to stay on it. The wax kind of sticks your feet to the board. And that's a good thing.

Day 44

September 4, 2008

Dear Diary, My mom is like so funny sometimes. She went to the hairdresser tonight and came home with a perm. Not the kind that looks like a poodle or anything, but it's pretty wavey. It's just odd because shes like had straight hair for as long as I can remember. I think it looks pretty sweet though.

Day 43

August 30, 2008

Dear Diary, The weather was really yucky today so we all kind of like vegged out. We played some board games, which we haven't done in forever. It was fun, even though Emme kept winning. Then we made these awesome vegetarian mini pizzatas. Mine was way messy with all the toppings I loaded on it, but it was yummy!

Day 42

August 29, 2008

Dear Diary, When I called Summer she was kind of quiet at first. Then she said she felt really bad about the way she acted before. She told me she was sorry. It's hard when your friends say things that really hurt your feelings because you like totally trust them. But she said she was sorry, and I want to give us another chance at being friends. Like, that would be the best!

Day 41

August 27, 2008

Dear Diary, School started yesterday. I ran into Summer in the hallway. And then we have pe together. At first it was like kind of awkward. We haven't really talked at all since like the beginning of summer. She said she still wants to try to be friends. We used to have so much fun together. Summer likes to hang out at the beach too. I think maybe I'll call her.

Day 40

August 23, 2008

Dear Diary, It's almost September, and that means surf's up in southern California! For some reason the water is always cleaner and warmer than it is in the summer. It has something to do with the Santa Ana winds. However it works, it means good size swells for me!

Day 39

August 22, 2008

Dear Diary, I like totally haven't had a chance to tell you about my new classes! It's been crazy busy around here. Even at night, Mom or Dad have been driving Emme and I all over the city trying to find all the school supplies our teachers said we need. But school is narley so far. I actually have a couple of my friends in my classes too. Not too much homework so far. The teachers have mostly been going over the rules and doing assessments to find out what we already know.

Day 38

August 16, 2008

Dear Diary, Only two more days until school starts! I wonder who will be in my classes this year. Hopefully some of my friends. I can't wait to tell them about the way awesome summer I had hanging out at the beach and going camping. I wonder what they did.

Day 37

August 13, 2008

Dear Diary, My sister Emme thinks she's like so cool because she's starting highschool this year. I asked her if she wanted to hang out at the beach or something and she gave me a dirty look. Mom told me later that it's just a phase and like not to worry. I hope so, I love hanging out with Emme. We have some wicked fun together.

Day 36

August 8, 2008

Dear Diary, The waves at the beach were flat today so we collected sea shells instead. Christian says that's like so boring. I'm always looking for shells I don't have yet, or shells that look unusual. The prettiest shell in my collection is called a Miter. It's white with brown speckles on it.

Day 35

August 4, 2008

Dear Diary, Sometimes it's hard being lactose intolerant. When I see someone eating pizza it makes my mouth water. We have pizza made special for our diet, but it doesn't taste quite the same. I guess it's better than nothing. Of course I wouldn't want my pizza with pepperoni or ham on it since I'm vegetarian. I like my pizza with pineapple.

Day 34

August 1, 2008

Dear Diary, At least our trip was way fun. Getting home from Yosemite was so not cool. We got a flat tire while we were on the interstate. All of a sudden the car was going like thump, thump, thump. We had to wait a while for Dad to change the tire. I was just happy he knew how to do it so we didn't have to like wait for a tow truck.

Day 33

July 28, 2008

Dear Diary, I can't believe we already leave to go home tomorrow. We're trying to see and do as much as we can while we're here. Today we're going to check out the Yosemite falls. The water falls like over two thousand feet!

Day 32

July 25, 2008

Dear Diary, Yesterday we went rafting down the Merced River. It's like a three mile trip and was way fun! All four of us fit into one big raft. We had paddles to use too. I liked sitting right in the front of the raft. I'm having so much fun at Yosemite, just like I always do.

Day 31

July 23, 2008

Dear Diary, Every time we come to Yosemite we see something like totally new, or do something new. We've been doing a ton of hiking this time. It's cool, you just have to watch out for the bears. But we even have to be careful at the campsite about bears. We have to store all our food in food lockers. And there are signs everywhere about not leaving trash around or even in your car. I guess bears are like very smart.

Day 30

July 20, 2008

Dear Diary, Today I'm heading over to the beach since we'll be gone all week camping. I called my friend Christian and since his ankle is feeling way better he said he'll be there too. Mom said we can't stay all day since we have like sooooo much packing to do. I'm hoping the waves will be up. Better get my board ready.

Day 29

July 16, 2008

Dear Diary, Dad and I went shopping tonight to get some new camping supplies. One of our tents is starting to leak, so we found like the coolest new tent. It's way bigger! The only thing is I have to share it with my sister Emme. I guess that's okay since it's so ginormous.

Day 28

July 14, 2008

Dear Diary, Way cool! Mom and Dad promised we would like go on another camping trip before school started. So next week we cruise over to Yosemite National Park. We were going to try a new spot to camp, but not this time. We've been to Yosemite so many times, and we know how sweet it is. So like pack the veggie hotdogs and let's get ready to go! I can't wait!

Day 27

July 11, 2008

Dear Diary, My new friend Christian called today and said I may not see him at the beach for a while. I guess he like sprained his ankle. What a bummer that would be. The waves sound pretty sweet today on the surf report. I'm going to ask Dad if we can hit the beach later.

Day 26

July 7, 2008

Dear Diary, Shopping with Mom and my sister was pretty sweet. I got all these awesome new clothes for school. And even found the sandals I've been looking for. We're not allowed to wear sandals to school. Which seems like so old fashioned. But outside of school, I wear sandals everywhere.

Day 25

July 5, 2008

Dear Diary, Mom and I are going shopping today with my sister Emme. There's a totally cool outlet mall a couple hours away. I need to find some new earrings and sandals. I love to go shopping! Especially when it's for clothes and new cool accessories.

Day 24

July 2, 2008

Dear Diary, Summer has started calling my house. She says she wants to be friends again. I'm just not sure I want to like deal with all that again. Too much drama. I feel bad because we were like friends for a way long time. Mom says I should think about it before I decide.

Day 23

June 29, 2008

Dear Diary, I saw Christian at the beach again today. He was eating a hamburger and offered me another one from his bag. I said "no thanks, I can't". He kind of looked at me funny, so I told him I'm a vegetarian. That my whole family is vegetarian. He seemed so surprised. I don't know why, this is California afterall!

Day 22

June 28, 2008

Dear Diary, I am totally stoked! Dad says we're going on another camping trip soon! He says since my sister and I are out of school it seems like a good idea. I wonder if we'll go back to Yosemite? I love it there, but it's like always cool to try a new place to camp too.

Day 21

June 26, 2008

Dear Diary, I made a new friend at the beach today. His name is Christian. We were both trying to ride the same wave in, and almost crashed into each other. I guess he like felt bad or something, because he kept apologizing. It was fun having someone to hang out with at the beach now that Summer and I aren't really friends anymore.

Day 20

June 20, 2008

Dear Diary, Now I know what a grommet is! I looked it up on the internet, and it says "a young surfer". So it's not a bad thing that guy called me at the beach. I feel way better now. I hate when like somebody uses a word you don't know, and then you feel totally dumb for not knowing what they're talking about.

Day 19

June 19, 2008

Dear Diary, I guess I'm still like kind of a newbie at this surfing thing. Today when I was out catching some waves with my friends, some boy called me a "grommet". He said something about all the kids being out of school and now here I am with like all the other grommets. I had no idea what he was like getting at. But he said it's cool. I think I may have to look it up.

Day 18

June 17, 2008

Dear Diary, I'm totally stoked now! I figured out like the perfect way to keep my seashells. And now Mom is happy too. We found this way cool table that's like a jewelry display case. But instead of jewelry, I arranged my seashell collection inside of it. It looks totally awesome in my room.

Day 17

June 13, 2008

Dear Diary, I have so many seashells because I like find them whenever I'm at the beach. My mom's been nagging me to like figure out something to do with all of them. I like want to find a way to keep them where everyone can see them. I better start thinking of an idea, or my mom will like totally freak out from what Dad said.

Day 16

June 11, 2008

Dear Diary, Oh my gosh! Like the totally grossest thing happened today. I forgot about the hummus sandwich I had tucked away in my pack while we were camping at Yosemite. And that was like forever ago. Well, this afternoon I kept smelling this like totally awful smell in my room. Did you know that hummus like gets moldy and totally gross when it's not refrigerated? Well, now I know too!

Day 15

June 8, 2008

Dear Diary, Ugggh. My family went to like a super cool summer party this weekend. It was all good until we went home that night. I had like the worst stomach ache. Dad thinks I ate something at the party that had milk or cheese in it. Sometimes it's like not cool to not be able to eat any dairy products. It's easy to eat at home, but like so hard when we go out somewhere.

Day 14

June 4, 2008

Dear Diary, Wow! it has been like so long since I last wrote. We went camping at Yosemite, which was like totally awesome, except for the bugs. Then school just finished for like the whole summer. It's just been soooo crazy around here. I'm hoping now that school is out I'll be hanging at the beach more.

Day 13

May 16, 2008

Dear Diary, we are on our way to Yosemite with takes us a while from Santa Barbara. I don’t mind, though, because I’m like so excited to get there and pitch the tent. My mom said we can even make smores the first night! Sometimes, my mom is like such a nag, but most of the time…she’s pretty cool.

Day 11

May 11, 2008

Dear Diary, Well, I had a talk with Summer about what happened at the beach. I told her that I don’t think it was very nice to say I was showing off to all the other kids. It didn’t go that great because she said that she didn’t say I was showing off. So, now she’s talking bad stuff about me AND lying about it to my face. I think I don’t want to be her friend anymore, but how do I end a friendship? I guess I will just talk to other kids and not make a big deal about it.

Day 12

May 10, 2008

Dear Diary, Next weekend my mom and dad said that we are going to visit my grandparents near Yosemite. I love going to Yosemite! It is the BEST park and it is huge. You can go horseback riding, or camping, or hiking, or fishing. My family likes to camp so we will stay in tents, which is always a blast! My grandparents have an RV, so they will stay near us and we can hang out with them in the RV if we want. My grandparents are still very young and like to do a bunch of neat stuff. I guess I am lucky about that because I have a lot of friends who don’t have grandparents because they already died.

Day 10

May 4, 2008

Dear Diary, I am like completely confused! My friend Summer told some kids at school that I was like showing off at the beach on her boogie board! I was not showing off, but I guess I am kinda good at it since I am a surfer. Why did she have to say that I was showing off? Can’t someone be good at something without people getting weird? I don’t know what to do. I thought she was my friend.

Day 9

May 1, 2008

Dear Diary, I am like so psyched because the weather is turning really warm these days, and the ocean is just awesome. The other day, I was at the beach with my friend, Summer, and we like had the best time. My dad took us and he just sat under an umbrella and read the paper while me and Summer swam and talked. We even played on her boogie board, which was a blast.

Day 8

April 24, 2008

Dear Diary, I was invited to a party this weekend by this boy in my class named Dylan. I am not sure whether I am going to go or not because I want to know what other girls are going. It is at a mini golf place so I think it will be fun. I have no idea what to get him, though, maybe a gift card..

Day 7

April 21, 2008

Dear Diary, Well, my mom said that if I have caught up on all my homework, then I can go surfing later today! I am so happy and I don’t even care that the water will be cold. I will wear my long wetsuit and have a blast!

Day 6

April 18, 2008

Dear Diary, I am totally missing the ocean so like that means I am like getting totally better. If I don’t like surf almost every day, I get like totally bummed. Even though I have gone back to school, my mom says that I still can’t go surfing! Do you ever think that moms are totally bonkers sometimes? I mean, I am like totally fine now!!

Day 5

April 14, 2008

Dear Diary, I know I haven’t written in a while, but I ended up being really sick for like a whole week. I was so bored of lying around the house. I read books, watched TV, and even did a huge 1000 piece puzzle. I was actually looking forward to going back to school.

Day 4

March 28, 2008

Dear Diary, Not feeling so hot today. Like my mom said that I have a fever and need to like stay home. I am not going to argue with that. I could like use a few hours of sleep.

Day 3

March 25, 2008

Dear Diary, You are never like going to believe this. Our cafeteria worker ( I like think her name is Ms. Kate or something), tried to like force me to eat meat! I even like told her that I am a vegetarian and like I don’t eat stuff that had a face. She was like, well you have to eat something, so like I ended up eating some of my friend’s lunch. But when I got home from school, I was like starving and my mom fixed me up some yummy fruit salad.

Day 2

March 21, 2008

Dear Diary, My mom like said that I’m not like supposed to say the word “like” so much anymore. She like says it is like getting on her last nerve. Like Chill Out, Mom! I promised her I would like try. Whoops, did it again!

Day 1

March 18, 2008

Dear Diary,

Today was like the best day of like my whole life. I was like on my surfboard and like surfing when I saw two dolphins! They were so like cute!
