Piano Problems
May 4, 2008
I have been playing the piano for about 5 years. My parents LOVE to hear me play and always make me play songs whenever people come over to visit. Here’s the thing…I don’t really like the piano anymore. I don’t look forward to my lessons, and I hate practicing every day. My mom says that I will thank her when I am older because I didn’t give up, but I really want to quit. What should I do?
I would tell you parents that you would rather do something else than piano!! If that doesnt work tell then that you do not like piano anymore and would like to quit after this year!!

Don't quit! I take piano and I love it. Keep practicing.

Have a serious talk wiht your parents about how you DO NOT have an intrest in piano anymore. I promise that if they really love you they will let you stop & go on to something new.

I have the exact same problem.
I've told my mom how I feel and even asked her if i could play the guitar instead but she still said I could'nt quit. but maybe your mom is different than mine. try what I did and maybe it'll work on your mom. If there is another musical instrument you want to play, ask your mom if you can try playing it instead.

I would tell your mom how you feel. If your afraid that you might hurt her feelings, then leave a note under her pillow or somewhere she looks alot.

I would tell your parents that you want to quit piano because I bet they would let you quit piano if you are not into it anymore.

i would tell my mom that i wanted to quit and maybe ask to play a different instrument or get a new hobbie.

I know a person who does not like to play the piano. She finally told her mom that she didn't want to play it any more. And her mom said that she can if she starts playing a new insturment in Middle School Band. But she promised her mom that she could sit on the stool and play at least 2 songs.

I had the exact same problem. I compromised with my mom. She said one more year of piano, and then I could quit. I found that I really liked piano, maybe you will too.

If I were you I would tell her how you feel. You could still play every once and a while for guests but not have to go to lessons or practice every day. You could practice on your own time not on schedule.
