A New Stepmom

Well...here's the problem. My parents have been divorced for a while and my dad has been seeing this lady for like 6 months and he told me and my brother that he is going to marry her and that she will be our step mom. She isn't mean or anything, but she has a daughter already who is younger than me and I am worried that my dad will love that girl more than me since she will live with him all the time now. I'm not sure what to say since I am not that happy about him getting married, and I know I can't say that. ~ Jessica in Cincinnati

Listen, nothing is more important to your dad than you. If there begins to be a problem, talk to your dad and get all of your feelings out.

you do not have to worry your dad will still love you so much that whatever you used to do maybe you can do them with your stepmother

If your dad loves you and your brother the same that he should love the lady`s daughter as the same! If he dosnt you have to talk to your dad!

i wouldn't worry. you're his actual daughter so i think he would love you more even when she is there.

dont worry. try to feel happy for your dad. you are his daughter this younger girl can never take your place in his heart. be nice to her she will probably be thrilled to have an older sis. good luck

I would try to be friends with the girl. If you get to know her, maybe you won't think so poorly of her.

see my parents are divorced and i know i would freak if they were going to remarry. what i would do if the girl is going to live with you either ask your dad about it or get to know the girl.

Getting a stepmom is very hard, but you should be happy for your dad. He will always love you no matter what. He may give some attention because she is new but he will still love you.

Tell your dad how you feel. I am sure he will let you know that no one can replace you and that he has enough love to go around. Try to be happy. You might find you like having a little sister. I do!!
